In a Newsday story about tonight's debate at Hofstra, we get his gem "Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) said he believes McCain shouldn't shy away from raising the Ayers connection, to raise questions about Obama's judgment."
Obama barely knew William Ayers and was 8 years old when Ayers was involved with the Weather Underground.
Let's talk about "judgement" and REAL paling around with terrorists shall we?
Peter King is an unrepentant supporter of IRA terrorism. He tried topublically step back from his terrorist past after 9/11 but he always comes back to who he really is.
Let's go over some of Peter King's greatest hits.
Most recently he wants an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT and IRA gunman who escaped from a British prison 25 years ago to be allowed to stay. Is that AMNESTY? For a criminal? The Department of Homeland Security wants to deport him.
Then there are his past statements in FULL SUPPORT of the IRA "King was not so much an appeaser of terrorism, but an active aider and abetter. In 1982 he told a pro-IRA rally, "We must pledge ourselves to support those brave men and women who this very moment are carrying forth the struggle against British imperialism in the streets of Belfast and Derry." Two years later what he called this "legitimate guerilla army" came close to successfully assassinating Margaret Thatcher."
And he makes excuses for the MURDER of civilians by his terrorist friends "And while there were murders, atrocities and human-rights violations on all sides, the security forces and the loyalist paramilitaries caused more civilian casualties than did the IRA."...'

This should put some pressure on the NY gov. to appoint someone who can actually win a runoff, so maybe Caroline's stock is rising?  Is there any truth to the rumors that Hillary doesn't want it to happen though?

Thankyou for your posts.  It's been an education.  I was living in London when the IRA were planting bombs and it was not fun.

His checkered past is all the more reason to run him in 2010. The GOP will still have a few floating around and they will simpley make things easier for the Democrats. While even Caroline Kennedy won't have a really easy time winning against King but easier, I suspect, than against several others.

1. Caroline kennedy has been very involved in NYC all her adult life. One would expect that Congressman King would have met Caroline, or at a minimum be very aware of all her volunteer efforts on behalf of the community. And would recognize that Caroline is a wonderful person, not merely may be.

2. To the Rudy poster, Get a live. The idea that everything has come easy for Caroline Kennedy is evidence of a distorted view of reality. Caroline has had to endure hardships, in public that would destroy many, if not most others.
a) Her father was assassignated when she was 6
b) Her Uncle was assassignated when she was 10.
c) Her mother had no privacy, and neither did Caroline or her brother.
d) Several Counsins died young and tragically
e) Several years after her mother died, her brother died in bad weather when he was flying to their cousins wedding.
f)After her brothers death the tabloid press ran stories on end regarding his marriage, and questioning whether the plane crash was accidential.
g) Not only was her father assassignated, but due to conspiracy theories the stories about who really killed her Dad continue 45 years later.
The list could go on.

Caroline Kennedy has lived her life in the media spot light, and has lived an exemplary life. Regardless of ones political leanings, to claim Caroline has had it easy, or to minimize her accomplishments, because of some pathetic anti-Kennedy bias is sad.

If Caroline is picked to fill the seat until 2010, I hope Peter King runs, he would get whipped, and the rest of us wouldn't have to list to his views!

Want the seat to stay Democratic? Encourage King to run.

Gee, we are all so scared of old man Ayers who supposedly bombed or wanted to bomb some federal buildings or the pentagon because our government was lying, cheating, stealing behind our backs and causing the deaths of many fine young Americans in  Viet Nam. We are shaking so much we can't stand it. And as to Ayers. He must be such a menace to society now and we're sure, without a doubt, that all that youthful, radical attitude and errors of his past have certainly rubbed off on to Obama. Oh boy are we in trouble now! I wonder how long it takes Ayers to cross the street now? Think he can outrun the Feds? Hope not. He is such a menace you know.

Sweet Caroline, thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my post.  I realize the family background and where she has lived.  I have every sympathy for the struggles she has endured publicly and privately.  But sorry, living your life in the media spotlight, or enduring family tragedies, does not entitle you to a Senate seat.
