Turf battle: Issa vs. Frank?

From NBC’s Kristin Wilson
As the 110th Congress comes to a close, and members shift to new committee assignments, there may be confusion as to who has jurisdiction when it comes to the financial system, oversight of the mortgage crisis, and the growing recession.

Fortunately, Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts, chairman of the Financial Services Committee, was more than happy to educate fellow congressman Darrell Issa of California -- who will be taking retiring Rep. Tom Davis' place as ranking member on the House Oversight Committee -- after Issa testified before his committee.

Noting Issa's complaint yesterday over an open microphone that he was worried the Oversight Committee was "getting screwed" by Financial Services, Frank said nothing could be further from the truth.

"The notion that somehow there was some machination on the part of myself or others to diminish the role of that committee is, A, wrong, and, B, completely ignores the history," he said.

In homage to the upcoming holiday, Frank attempted to allay Issa's fears.

"I've got people worried that this committee is plotting to take away their jurisdiction," he said. "I don't want to ruin anybody's Christmas by thinking I'm going to, Grinch-like, take away the jurisdiction of another committee, when I haven't done that."

When Issa attempted to convince Frank that the comments "taken properly" would constitute a compliment, Frank pounced.

"Well, I appreciate the compliment,” Frank said, “but I would shut off both the compliments and the mic the next time, if I was the gentleman from -- from California."

It's time for the Senate to end the fillibuster
This can be done with a majority vote when Obama is elected

The Republicans (sessions, Vitter, McConnell) have made it clear they intend to try and obstruct Obama's plans and obstruct the economic recovery

Elections have consequences the Republicans said after Bush's victory
Then, they proceded to run roughshod over the Democrats...

Turnabout is fair play
End the fillibuster and enact Obama's programs over the cries and moans of the Republicans
THAT would be SWEET !!

Save America's Auto industry, not the Iraqi economy
Maybe we can cut 'Defense' spending to fund the 'bridge loans'
I think it is funny that people are remarking on the 'True Colors' of Democrats now that a Democratic Governor is under arrest.  Let us not forget the Republican that was Gov. before him in the very same state (in jail) and the former Senator from Alaska who was a Republican.  Oh, and all the crooks from Cheney to Rove that are STILL in power right now.
I would never say that Republicans have a corner on the corruption market but neither do Democrats.  Corruption is an equal opportunity employer.
Teach - Denver

Say it again and Amen. Nobody would admit this two months ago. "We are the Holy ones" ruled the day. No one is immune. The idiot who said Adult Democrats would not clean up the mess looks more stupid now than they did then. They know who they are.
How about Jesse Jackson, Jr.?  Apparently, he knows how to work a financial deal.
Frank may be corruption not caught yet according to many. He's had his close calls, but nothing stuck so far. I'm sure he'll slip up one day soon too. Nixon, Clinton, the list goes on and on. America first, not self interest.
With everything going on currently... my first read on this story is... So What?
Notice Obama said he wants Blagojevich to resign. Did he say how he felt about justice being carried out towards him. Come on Philly. Break it down for us on the facts line.
