Dana Perino's 'shoe-shiner'

Posted: Tuesday, December 16, 2008 10:33 AM by Mark Murray

From NBC's John Yang
President Bush survived his close Baghdad encounter with a pair of size 10s unscathed, but White House Press Secretary Dana Perino wasn't so lucky.

Perino is sporting a black-eye -- she calls it her "shoe-venir"; others have dubbed it a "shoe-shiner."

Perino was sitting to the President's right with other administration officials. Beside her was the U.S. interpreter and his microphone, which was on a "boom" stand -- a long pole atop a vertical stand that swivels around.

When Mr. Bush's lead agent leapt up after the first shoe was thrown, he hit the stand, sending it swiveling. Perino had her eyes on Bush, didn't see it coming and ... well, boom.

Nasty comments from liberals starting in 1, 2, 3...
What a metaphor for that boob's presidency.  Duck the blow so that subordinates take the hit.

So typical for the coward.
that woman needed a good black eye.. too bad Bush did't get one too.  'that would have been our country's christmas present.
Now she's a faithful servant.

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA
Call it a symbol of what Bush has done along with the whole administration to the United States.  They have given us a black eye to our collective reputation.  There were so many things that could have had the US in better standing among the rest of the world, but he had to go it alone for most things after 9/11.
We'll have to wait and see if any kind of shoe,  bottle or rock throwing incidents follow Obama in his quest to save our nation and the world.
Dana Perino...slow witted as ever...yuo'd think by now she'd know nothing hits el presidente...just those around him...she'll get a medal of freedom or something for her troubles

'...Stay the hell out of NY!...'

they've got this brtain eating fungus that turns everyone into idiots
It's centered somewhere in Westchester

Any luck finding a new halfway house, Merle ?

Better watch those tapes AGAIN. Bush's lead agent didn't even MOVE until the second shoe was hurled at Bush. Although I find the tape appalling because Bush has stooped so low as to have foreign reporters throwing things at him, the look on Bush's face is priceless. Can't wait to see what SNL does with this bit of information this week. If nothing else, Bush continues to be food for the comics. Jan. 20th can't come soon enough for me or the rest of the world apparently!
I think the shoefly guy has a pretty good arm,and a south paw at that. Some scouts may be interested.By the way Little G was moving, it appeared like it has happen before, maybe not shoes, maybe dishes.Perino was not so lucky, but the eye will heal, lots of ice.I can see this shoefly thing catching on.Dunk tanks will now use shoes instead of balls,it can be called the dunce dunk,it;s a shoe in.
I did not see secret service agants jumping to take a shoe for bush.  bush should ask for pardon for shoe thrower unless of course he is small minded and wants revenge.
It is understandable that a good U.S. President may not be liked by our enemies, or even detested by some in the world for taking strong stands on some foreign policy issues. But tell me the last time a U.S. President has had a shoe thrown at them (or two), especialy in a country that is supposed to be friendly to the U.S. because we are their liberators.

Watching the video of this incident left one somewhat bewildered, shocked and downright incensed. Such reactions occur because one cannot believe that a U.S. President would be treated so, and because  no decent U.S. Presdient would have lowered the status of the U.S., and the U.S. Presidency, to such depths across the world as Bush has done.

Anger at the U.S. and the U.S. Presidency is one thing. Detesting those positons taken by the U.S. or a U.S. Presdeint is another thing. But losing all respect for the U.S. and the U.S. Presidency is another thing altogether. The scenes of Bush dodging the shoes made one think of one of those whimpish kids in school who talked big but were known by all to be easy targets, and were picked on by many because no one had any respect for them. Let's just hope this same attitude does not rub off too much from Bush and on to the Amercian people and the United States in general. Let's hope Obama can regain some respect for the U.S. and the Presidency. He may not be well liked by some but at least he can hopefully re-establish some respect which more often than not is not earned by sabre-rattling but rather by speaking softly while carrying a big stick when needed.
Bush is one Lame Ducking President!
"which was on a "boom" stand -- a long pole atop a vertical stand that swivels around."

I am just so glad you saw fit to explain to all us dumb people what a "boom" stand is. I would never have figured it out on my own. Thank you FR for your kind words. I feel so much better educated now.

Oh, by the way, does anyone know or care how the man who threw the shoes is?? Last report I heard was he was arested and being beaten and tortured by the Americans in the U.S. run Camp Cropper prison.[the Airport prison, managed by the American forces].
But then, no one cares about that right. Al-Zaidi is in a difficult condition, with broken ribs and signs of tortures on his thighs. Also he can not move his right arm.
You know, George W. Bush is really the essence of cool. All the media scrutiny doesn't seem to bother him. Shoe-throwers, name-callers, any critic of any kind just rolls off his back. He is comfortable in his own skin and is his own man. Even Ted Turner has come around to admiring him.

Too bad he doesn't get credit for keeping us safe since 9/11, while foiling at least 22 other terrorist attacks. Too bad he doesn't get the credit for saving millions of lives in Africa through his AIDS donations. America has done more through Bush than any other country, president or foundation to help those struggling in Africa.
Monkberry -- Don't forget the part in the lyrics about the banana.  That could be important one of these days.
Too bad it missed Bush! Would have been a great gift for all he has done!
I'm sorry to say I can't muster much sympathy for Dana Perino. I'm sorry.
That guy was lucky he did that on TV, because now with all the publicity he can't "disappear."

He embarrassed the Iraqi security then immediately went into their custody - you can be he's sporting more than a "shiner."

Let's get two things straight:

"Nameless" posted a pointless, and "nasty" comment - first thing! and,

that guy cannot call himself a "journalist" anymore.
"We'll have to wait and see if any kind of shoe,  bottle or rock throwing incidents follow Obama in his quest to save our nation and the world. "

That's it: equate what an Iraqi did to Bush with what you'd like to do to Obama. Obama, who has hasn't even taken the office, deserves whatever might befall Bush. You must be of the "Holy Flying Monkey's Ass" order.
