What happened to "due process"?  No matter what Gov Blagojevich has been alleged in doing - he has not been convicted and is still the sitting Governor of IL.

Have we allowed the Bush years of disregarding law affect our ability to abide by them?

No matter what - until or if Blagojevich is removed from office - via impeachment, trail or what have you - he still hold the office and has the duty to run it.

I hope we are not in the business of condemning and prejudging people before they are allowed their day in court.

If so - we have become an abomination of ourselves - the Democratic process and the American Way.

Despite Roland  being of a different stripe, that is a clean politician. It's time for the people of IL to have representation in the Senate. This is not the time for wrangling our country is in serious trouble.

Both Roland  Burris and Jessie White have nearly squeaky clean credentials;  therefore, no  problems should effect the people.

Has Rod Blagojevich appointed Roland Burris- who is African-American, experieced,qualified and respected -in an attempt to make himself look fair and wise? Can a leopard change his spots?

U.S. Senate Rule seems pretty clear, a co-sign is required.  It will get interesting... Will Secretary of State White certify a necessary special election, if called for by our dear brother Blago, for both Senate and Congressional seat open.

PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS AND QUESTIONS OF PRIVILEGE

1. The presentation of the credentials of Senators elect or of Senators designate and other questions of privilege shall always be in order, except during the reading and correction of the Journal, while a question of order or a motion to adjourn is pending, or while the Senate is voting or ascertaining the presence of a quorum; and all questions and motions arising or made upon the presentation of such credentials shall be proceeded with until disposed of.

2. The Secretary shall keep a record of the certificates of election and certificates of appointment of Senators by entering in a wellbound book kept for that purpose the date of the election or appointment, the name of the person elected or appointed, the date of the certificate, the name of the governor and the secretary of state signing and countersigning the same, and the State from which such Senator is elected or appointed.

3. The Secretary of the Senate shall send copies of the following recommended forms to the governor and secretary of state of each State wherein an election is about to take place or an appointment is to be made so that they may use such forms if they see fit.

Harry Reid should vet Roland Burris; he's doing the Illinois public a disservice, as Burris is one of the more up-standing people in Illinois.

Even under arrest, Blago can still do something right -- trouble is, no one believes him now....
