Another top Dem critical of Panetta pick

Posted: Monday, January 05, 2009 5:53 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Abby Livingston
An aide to current Chairman of the Senate intelligence committee, Sen. Jay Rockefeller, tells NBC News that while the senator has tremendous respect for Leon Panetta, the aide said he believes the CIA director should go to someone who has significant intelligence experience and someone from outside the political world of Washington D.C.

Like incoming Senate intelligence chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, the aide added Rockefeller was not contacted either about Panetta's appointment.

What do you expect? When you pick nit-wit Clinton hacks, hatchet-men that defended Clinton day and night on his Monica escapades, and then appoint that person to head up the CIA, you're going to catch some flak. Just what exactly does Obama think the CIAs purpose in life is?
Dem's are mad and should be. We need an expert in this position. Another transition team blunder.

Obama is standing by watching, turning a blind eye, as thousands die on the Gaza strip. He should speak as a concerned citizen and PE about his position and views to save those dying needlessly.
are you kidding me?  but i guess he has as much experience as obama...
Could it be that Panetta threatens to blow the lid off of the complicity of certain congressional Democrats in going along with Bush's agenda?

Find some CIA had who ISN'T IMPLICATED in TORTURE

Find somebody who didn't approve Water Boarding

Find somebody who didn't approve 'enhanced interrogation techniques'

No 'intelligence professionals' for me

Great Job Stopping 9/11 guys !!

If it wasn't for the CIA we might have had casualties on 9/11 !!
But, our 'Intelligent' CIA sniffed out the plot and STOPPED IT !!

Thanks Guys !!

And about those WMDs......
"the CIA director should go to someone who has significant intelligence experience and someone from outside the political world of Washington D.C."

Putin comes to mind
Please Jay Rockerfellar and Feinstein sat on the intelligence committee and gave Bush everything. They have no standing. They just wanted someone from CIA that is in their pockets. We have had experienced people in the job and where has it gotten us. Experienced people in CIA have given us the mess we find ourselves in now. SO DIANE AND JAY SHUT THE HECK UP.
I can't figure out why so many people who supported Obama are already starting to have their doubts about Obama and he hasn't even been sworn in yet.  The media didn't do their job and they only reported on what they wanted to report on and did nothing but feel good fluff pieces about Obama since day one.  But once Bush is out of the picture and Obama is the only person the media can blame (and they will blame him), the media will start eating Obama alive and he and his supporters won't know what hit them.

Obama should have never been nominated and should not be president and all of his supporters are going to find out that he is ALL SHOW and out for himself.  Obama is not going to do what he promised.

He's appointed tons of former Washington inside/former Clinton White House officials and that's Change you can believe in?  I don't think so, that's politics as usual.

Obama doesn't have a clue and little by little it will all come out, but just like all the people who supported Bush, the Obama supporters just don't get it and it's too late now.

Obama hasn't been sworn in and already he and his team has shown a lack of judgement in the whole conversations with and connection to the whole Blajojevich matter, picking Richardson (the Judas) who they knew was under investigation, Panetta's appiontment as CIA director for which he absolutely is NOT qualified and there is the story about Obama having an affair with Vera Baker that the press is trying like hell to aviod investigating and discussing just like they did with the John Edwards affair that the press knew about but refused to discuss.

Little by little it will all come out and people will see that Obama is a liar and a fraud.
Jay Rockefeller, who couldn't stand up to Bush and Cheney is now getting religion about Congress mattering. What the heck took so long?
Obama has shifted the power structure out of the incompetent CIA "intelligent experts" who said there were WMDs in Iraq and can't find Bin Laden in more than 7 years and they say he's in a cave...CHANGE has come to America. Brilliant move.
Obama made a great pick everyone else including many Senate Dems are implicated in the CIA crimes.  Obama had to chose someone from the outside to clean up the CIA.
Big surprise.  Feinstein and Rockefeller both gave the OK on Bush's torture program.  They have both already stated that they wanted a CIA insider that took part in said torture program.  The more uncomfortable those two are about this appointment, the better.
Obama is amazing and extremely clever. Whether they confirm Panetta or not, Obama wins. The most important quality in the CIA director is the ability of the President to trust the information he is given. Everything else is secondary. Just ask President Bush.
