From NBC's Les Kretman and Domenico Montanaro
The Secret Service has arrested and is questioning a 30-year-old man for tossing a shoe this afternoon over the South fence of the White House.

Officers identifed the man as Ryan Hill. No hometown was given.

Hill has been charged with disorderly conduct. He's still undergoing questioning, but it's likely he won't be held, sources said.

Sounds like he was channelling this guy...

Oh, so now the SS manages to do something.

Obama better have some good legs, the way the SS protected Bush, he may just need to make a run for it.
He should be questioned and detained as a enemy combative.......Or a patriot.

A fitting end to Bush.
My gosh, the shoes were Berluti's. Why not just throw something sold at Payless?
Are shoes covered by the second amendment? And, if you outlaw shoes, are the only ones that will have shoes be outlaws?
i never get bored of this video.  too funny.
Did the guy have a concealed carry permit for the shoes? And were they a semi-automatic shoe or a six shoe-er?
Give the poor guy his shoe back and send him home. I'm sure by now his foot is frozen solid. Hope he didn't pay a huge price for that shoe.
Now where did he get the idea that this would be a 'good' idea.  Kinda on par with yelling "fire" in a movie theater or "bomb" on a plane.  I thought America's youth, led by Barack Obama, were supposed to be smarter, yeah right.
Bush still has one good day at Guantanamo left in him.  Perhaps the shoe-tossers will meet and greet.
Events like this bring out the loonies as well as the good people. I am glad they got him before he hurt himelf and anyone else. Maybe he knows what crops are grown at the funny farm. If not maybe he should find out.
Oh, he was only giving Georgie boy the boot. A little heave ho so to speak!
Leave it to some Coleman supporter to tie Obama into this. Minnesota Republicans need to take theie meds.
It won't be long before shoe throwing is outlawed. This is what happens when a bunch of scaredy cat chickenhawks like the bushies are in charge...can you say PARANOID

And Washington DC is loon central for the next day or so. Just putting a fence around it would solve a lot of problems.
As an American, I was offended by that act. Human to human, I'm unsetteled by it.  I still can't believe what I just saw.  It reminded me of kindergarden.
Don't let the SHOE hitcha on the way OUT!!!!!
Why would anyone test the Secret Service on a day like this. Not a smart thing to do !
Another kook who needs a public humiliation and spanking.
The entire lot of you idiots out there are just as stupid as the guy that threw that shoe. I wonder what else you will come up with to talk about before the coming of Christ at 12noon 01/20/09. He(Obama) has done nothing but secured a job and living quarters for the next four years.
im sorry he miss mr bush ,he deserve worse than that for invading a country in sandals.
check out shoebush.org. There was a shoe-hurling event organized for today in D.C. !
This may be the first "flake" of a "shoestorm" I'll bet there will be a shower of Rockports on Bush's limo as he travels to the Capitol.
if the boot fit..you must equit
Nicholas: If you were to do your research (I'm supposing the only thing you know about Arab culture is from Fox news...) you would know that what that man did is considered a huge insult in the Arabic world. Kind of ironic that you sarcastically called Obama supporters stupid... Way to go.
George Bush should be tried for War Crimes.  If he gets only a few shoes thrown at him he is lucky.  What about the bombs and arsenals thrown at millions of innocent people for the purpose of US dominance of the world?

Since when is there a law against throwing shoes?  Is this another Bush Law?
Hopefully someone does this at Bush and it's a grenade.
No matter who the president is he still deserves our respect as head of our republic and history will eventually bring out 'the good, the bad,the ugly' but respect is always uppermost for the highest office in the United States of America, may God give wisdom to the president-elect Obama.
The man that threw the shoe should have thought of the invitee and not of the invited who represents 300,000,000 people that sent people to help him, for it would have been death for him under the old regime to commit an act such as this, further more there is a higher power that will cure all of mankind's woes
Not To Defend Bushie BUT No One Should Disrespect the Office. You can't Throw Shoes or anything else over the Fence. Or at the President for that Matter. That's the Peoples House and Don't Disrespect it....
These guy is very did not respect himself. Why should he throw shoe in white House? Let the service men make him talk.
Hope Bush takes a dump in that shoe and sends it back.
They should have popped the guy with 2 .40 slugs.
Where is the boot!
The Shoe came flyiing in. Now where is the Boot!
Funny! What words did he shot?
@R Rollins, Illinois

"make a run" -- Will Smith style!
Well, At least he had some sole!  He stuck his tongue out which shows he's no heel.  OK, I'll stop these comments laced with irony.
No one should knock this guy until they have walked a day in his shoe. Who knows what his reasons are for the shoe tossing event. But, if he hit his mark, perhaps he could try out for a pitching position for the Astros.
Yes, indeed, Avg American, don't let the SHOE hit you on the way out!  I laughed out loud & enthusiastically waved all 5 of my fingers "so long" to GW! Yahoooo!
Too bad the shoe missed him...maybe he'll be safer in his home in texas. lol
