HRC seeks 'job advice' from Shultz

From NBC's Libby Leist
This afternoon, Secretary Clinton will meet with Former Secretary of State George Shultz at the State Department.

State spokesman Robert Wood said Clinton will be seeking job advice.

"The secretary wanted to have conversations with all of the previous living secretaries of State, and this is just part of that... attempt," he said. "She respects very much Secretary Shultz's views.  He's a well-known and distinguished American figure."

Shultz was Secretary of State under President Reagan from 1982-1989.
He also served as Secretary of the Treasury under Richard Nixon, and he was economic advisor to Reagan before his appointment as Secretary of State.

Hillary is good at communicating with the dead too. She's always talking to Mamie Eisenhower.
Shultz can tell Hillary how to avoid sniper fire.
Nice to see you using the term "Secretary Clinton" instead of Hillary.

I also notice that Ronald Reagan rates the use of the "President".

And at least Richard Nixon got a first AND a last name. (Where is his President I wonder?)

I'll just bet you can extend our current President the same respect.

At last a more substantive story.  Thanks First Read!  As long as Hillary doesn't waste any time talking to this Boy Georgie about economics he might have something of interest to tell her, but not much.
Hillary doesn't have a clue what's she doing, does she? Next she'll be asking Barack's dog what to do. Having Hillary as SoS will show why you shouldn't have a two-bit corporate lawyer heading up the State Department.
We're with you Hillary, even though you don't have any idea what you're doing!
George Schultz traded 'arms for hostages' during the Reagan Admin

That was the time when we were training Osama bin Laden to be a 'Freedom Fighter' and told the Taliban that 'God is on your side'

Amazing how these 'Freedom Fighters'  became 'Terrorists'
(it's all a matter of PR)

Some other friendly Terrorists: the Contras, UNITA, Frelimo, Fraph in Haiti and the 'Death Squads' in El Salvador

Back then, they called them 'Freedom Fighters'

The head of the Contras, was hailed as the (CIA selected) 'George Washington of Nicaragua' (or was it Miami Beach ?)

Lot's to learn form George, Hillary
Never eat the egg salad when you're in North Korea.

I'll just bet you can extend our current President the same respect.

Who is the prez now in days?
It can't hurt to get the views of those who have held the office before. The diverse opinions of past SoS will give a more centered opinion that Secretary Clinton can guild on. They may know something she doesn't or can reinforce what she does. Sec. Clinton has already talked with Sec. Rice and should be seeking Sec. Powell too. Imagine talking to Republicans. Gee, if the shoe were on the other foot do you think the Republican would ask advise or even talk to the Democrats who held the job before.

The Obama Administration is trying very hard to be bi-partisan but it will be up to the Republicans whether that truly happens or not.
Hey Nashville Fan!

How about a little cheese with all that whine?  It's all about race with you isn't it?
A smart move. Notice President Obama spend a brief amount of time with previous Presidents. It's not so much what SoS Shultz says, it's more about crossing party lines. This proactive approach of working with reasonable republicans (oxymoron) will pay dividends. While the Dems are working to build bridges and minding fences, the GOP (Grumpy Old Politicians) are picking a leader. Only in America.
She might get better advice from Charles Schultz.  And yes, I realize that Charles Schultz is dead.

Cheesehead ~ No, Nashville is all about respect.  YOU'RE all about race.

No thanks on the cheese, I'll just take a little RESPECT thanks!

Do you have a logical reason why President Obama should not be referred to as such?

Do you have any logic at all?

P.S. Who said anything about race? Oh yeah, that was you.
Note to Msierra - they became terrorists when they began killing innocent US civilians unless you have forgotten.  Unbelievable how uninformed some people are or maybe they just ignore facts to support positions.
Hillary wanted to know if her butt looks fat in that pant suit.
I'd be more concerned if Clinton didn't ask for advice from previous SoS's.  At least she's not pretending to be a know it all.  I can admire that.  And this is coming from someone who's never liked the Clinton's.
I agree with Eagle 1776.  I thought Schultz did a pretty good job, even though I did not agree with all of their policies.
Nashville_fan:
I agree with you 100%. Did you read the Paul Krugman article? He called him Mr. Obama. What's up with that. I think I will go into FR archives and see how they addressed ex-President George W. Bush (I'll do the right thing with his name even though it makes me cringe!).
Hillary wanted to know if her butt looks fat in that pant suit.
---------------

It looks big without the pant suit.
>> Hillary wanted to know if her butt looks fat in that pant suit.  <<

It looks fine when it's hidden under the mud-flaps.
All that pounding on the glass ceiling and she's still a secretary.
