Gregg's replacement

From NBC's Chuck Todd and Domenico Montanaro
J. Bonnie Newman, a Republican with ties to current Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH), is the "leading candidate" to replace Gregg as U.S. Senator from New Hampshire -- if Gregg is named Commerce Secretary, according to two sources in the know.

The word is that she may pledge not to run again.

Newman bio info:
-- Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

-- The Boston Globe: "Newman served as assistant secretary of Commerce for economic development in the Reagan administration. She was in charge of administrative operations for the George H.W. Bush White House. She was chief of staff to Gregg when he was a congressman in the 1980s, and she was one of the first Republicans to publicly endorse Lynch in his 2004 challenge of then-Republican Governor Craig Benson, and co-chaired Republicans for Lynch. She has held a number of high-profile positions in higher education, including several important posts at the University of New Hampshire (including interim president) and executive dean of Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. She has also led the New Hampshire Business and Industry Association."

-- Announcement when named interim president of the University of New Hampshire in 2006.

The Boston Globe has no credibility. Every thinking person should know that by now. It's not a real news source. Too biased.

Hey, it's almost 6 PM .... gotta go watch the Cards beat the Steelers.

Should recipients of taxpayer favors continue to send jobs offshore?

Where are the controls?

Where is the common sense?

Who would be idiotic enough to believe a pledge such as this?  Think of all the candidates who have pledged to serve only a limited number of terms, only to discover that they became so valuable to their constituents that they couldn't keep their word.  There's a good example right next door in Maine -- another "moderate" Republican, Senator Susan Collins.
Get our troops out of iraq and use the savings as a peace dividend(52,000 per household) and decent healthcare for the American middle class. Republicans have loved iraqies more than the American middle class. we have wasted over a trillion dollars in that boondoogle. It's past time to put the American people first! my great disappointment is that I do not see the obama admin. putting us first with the 825 billion bailout. remember joe bi was a great advocate for the credit card co. and fought for legislation for them. he voted for the anti bankruptcy law, how can he save us? we need healthcare and the big stimulus check just to catch up. Anyone who thinks we can't afford this is wrong. we found the money to bailout the banks and they still want to colect old debts, we found the money to bailout auto makers, we found the money to bailout the hedge funds. My response is how can we afford to not bailout the middle class and give us a do over. the fact that some were irresponsible is irrelevant. it is what it is! and we move on from there.
SENATOR GREGG --- SHOULD STAY LOYAL TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY --- AND STAY IN THE SENATE --- DON'T FALL FOR OBAMA'S SILLY TRICK ... OBAMA DOESN'T WANT GREGG ... HE WANTS TO ELEMINATE GREGG'S SENATE VOTE!

And when a Republican is named to the Senate to replace Gregg, what vote will have been eliminated exactly?
