Moderate senators visit White House

From NBC's Ken Strickland
GOP Sens. Olympia Snowe (at 12:45 pm ET) and Susan Collins (3:30 pm ET), as well as Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson (4:00 pm ET), are meeting with President Obama today at the White House to talk about the stimulus.

Collins and Nelson are working together to draft a bill that could cut as much as $200 billion in questionable items from the stimulus package. It's a work in progress with no hard numbers or details just yet on which things would be eliminated. We're told there are more than 20 other senators working on this effort.

Enough is enough with these Republicans. Get this bill passed with or without them. Doesn't matter. We don't need them, yet the country needs this bill passed.
200 Billion?  Doesn't sound like 1% to me.
I like Snowe and Collins.  I think that if McCain had to pick a woman for VP, Snowe would have been a good pick.  They're not obstructionist, and have always expressed somewhat moderate views.  The administration would do well to keep these ladies on their speed dial.

Which one of these moderate Senators are going to tell Obama his stimulus bill is dead?
Yep! It's time to cut the "stimulus" down to size.

Let's hope the dumb and dope stuff the libs put in it are, for the most part, gone.

Bring some sanity back to the Presidency.
TAX BREAKS FOR THE RICH BY THE DEMOCRATS ... IN THE STIMULUS PACKAGE!

GOP YELLS 'CUT!' TO BOO$T FOR H'WOOD

STIMULUS BILL TO HELP HOLLYWOOD

February 4, 2009

WASHINGTON - Senate Republicans yesterday stripped a special $246 million tax break for Hollywood producers from President Obama's stimulus package.

"This isn't stimulus. This is a gift," said Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), who wrote the amendment to strike out the giveaway for some of the Democrats' most generous political supporters.

"It's not going to stimulate the economy at all," he said. "What it's going to do is line the pockets of very wealthy individuals already not experiencing the downside of the economy."

The 52-45 vote was largely along party lines, with nearly every Republican voting to remove the Hollywood tax break, joined by 13 Democrats and independent Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman.

SO OBAMA IS AGAINST TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY ... DUH?

WHAT A FREAKIN DISGRACE!
Can I get just $34,855.88 to pay off my mortgage?
OBSTRUCTIONISTS*** RUSH-REPUBLICANS are alive and running.

MSNBC/NBC allows JoeScarborough with the help of his sidekick Mika I don’t have opinion unless my man on the side gives it to me Brzezinski to spread his false Republican Propaganda: I take it that JoeScarborough the adulterer has received his RushLimbaugh talking points.

Watered down verson from Collins and Nelson we don't need. Let's get this approved the sooner the better. The longer we wait the worse the problem is going to be and then we will have to allocate even more money.

Pay now or pay later either way we gotta pay. It is cheaper to pay now than later.
The Republicans thought they had scored points but here is what will happen. The plan will be much improved in the senate. The Republicans in an effort not to look like obstructionist will try to take credit for the improvements and vote for it. Limbaugh and Hannity will turn on them resulting in a much more injured GOP. House republicans will still vote against but they are powerless to stop it. We will begin rebuilding our country and PUTTING
I can't believe those moderates listened to that big, idiot, Rush Limbaugh, all divisive radically, extreme, right -wing talk shows, and that stupid Hannity; instead of those of US (we the people) who voted for change. Simply because it's a strained economy  we voted in record numbers. Can't those two Senators understand the repercussions of it; recession/depression.
Hannity says "Keep the Change". With him being a millionaire pork. I guess, is  nothing but change for time; since he care little about struggling middle class and poor Americans and their quality of life.
This is an atrocious example of the Republican Party’s antics along with Rush Limbaugh, Bone- headed Boehner, and that stupid Hanity and other FOX new hosts who banter and spread lies about the Obama administration.

Isn’t it familiar how big fat windbag, Limbaugh, an apologetic drug addicted, a stupid puppet, Hannity, and a host of Fox news commentators repeat the same selfish greed daily which is  draining the indignation of Americans across the country?
MSNBC, Bloggers fight back; don’t let the media perpetuate these lying talking points.   Republicans talk show still chant, daily, and lie/d about pork.   They are the ones who are greasy.
Weren't some of you drugged out libs saying there was only 1% pork in the stimulus bill? Apparently you have two moderate US Senators that disagree with you. $200 billion in cuts from the bill is more like 25% pork. And I'm sure there is a lot more.
How I wish that the GOP would look to these women for examples of strong Republican leadership, rather than the hateful ignorance of Cornyn, McConnell, and Cantor.  The "leaders" still think they can play petty games rather than address the crisis our nation is facing.  The fact that the GOP is allowing Joe the Idiot to extend his 15 minutes of fame by addressing GOP congressional aides ought to be an embarrassment; but no, they persist in propping him up to spew his nonsense.

Hey Joe, have you learned what "socialism" really means, yet?  If so, could ya share it with the other "rising star" in the GOP?  She could probably use some help studyin', also, too.
mODERATE sENATORS, ALL SHOW DO NOTHING AS FAR AS IM CONCERENED FOR THIS STATE...THEY CLAIM BY BIRTASISIM BUT HOOKING UP WITH A DEMOCRAT WHOS NOT SUPPORTING THE STIMULUS....REMEMBER SNOW AND COLLINS SUPPORTED THE BIG BUSH AGENDA AND REALLY GOOD AT TRYING TO MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK GOOD..AT BE BIPARTISISM .....yOU KNOW YOU DONT NEED THESE POLITICIANS, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SIT DOWN WITH ORDINARY WORKING AMERICANS AND THEY CAN PUT A PACKAGE TOGETHER MUCH BETTER THAN THE SELF INTEREST GROUPS IN WASHINGTON.....THE REPUBLICANS DO HAVE SOME GOOD CONCERNS ON THIS PORK AND IF MORE aMERICANS SAW IT THEY WOULD TO. AS MORE I UNDERSTAND THE STIMULUS AND WHATS IN IT. GET RID THOSE SELF INTEREST.NOT BECAUSE THE REPUBLICANS SAID SO IT JUST MAKES  SENSE, AND THOSE PUTTING THOSE REQUEST IN ARE DOING NOTHING BUT TRYIN TO BENEFIT THEMSELVES WHILE HURTING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THERE OWN PARTY. GOD I FEEL LIKE A GENIUS....PROBLEM SOLVED, NOW LETS GET BACK AND PUT THIS COUNTRY ON TRACK AND THOSE CONTINUE TO PUBLICITY AND NEWS AND MAKING THE PRESIDENT LOOK LIKE A JERK GET RID OF THEM.....THERE NOTHING BUT ALL FOR THEMSELVES AND BIG GOVERNMENT...
this is good. president obama wants that kind of nonsense out of the bill. hopefully next time nancy pelosi will control herself. i hope the same for some republicans like the gridlock master eric cantor from virginia. think about it. the gop is presching the same assanine princilples and policies that got us in to this mess. to show their ideas haven't changed look who is in charge of their leadership. the same people that implemented the stupidity with great arrogance. the republicans have not changed leadership at all. they added cantor and ain't the brightest light bulb in the house. there are people in the gop that could provide sensible leadership, but if they change then rush limbaugh would have them voted out. leadership, hah.
Can I get just $34,855.88 to pay off my mortgage?

Out of Debt

Good question.

Here try this. Look at this bill that Obama is pushing like it were a boulder going uphill, and think how it benefits YOU! Best part: You may get a $500 check. Of course, that will be eaten up 10 times over by additional taxes you have to pay to pay for the stimulus package. Worst part: Too numerous to list. Of course, you'll have to pay for the bill. Money goes to unions, teachers, and "community organizers". Some (little) of it goes to construction companies. So unless your one of those people, you get nothing.
I don't understand.  Don't the majority of economists say that 900 billion won't be enough and now they're cutting it more?  I don't know.  I'm starting to feel very pessimistic.

With some Americans listening to Rush Limbaugh, Joe the Plumber, Sarah Palin and George Bush, people still wonder how we got into this mess?
Cut the pork and get the darn bill passed already. How hard can it be? Oh yea, this is congress we're talking about.
The stimulus bill is on life support.
