GOP Watch: Looking out for Scooter

Posted: Tuesday, February 17, 2009 9:12 AM by Domenico Montanaro

The New York Daily News' DeFrank reports that Dick Cheney "launched a last-ditch campaign" to get Scooter Libby pardoned, and that when former President Bush didn't do so, Cheney was "furious."

Fox News interviewed Bristol Palin, who talked about being a pregnant teen. During the campaign, the AP reported, "The two have been considering getting married next summer, 'but that could change,' she said during a short interview outside her Wasilla home."

During the interview, Bristol said, "Eventually we'd like to get married."

Sarah Palin, who advocated abstinence-only during the campaign, made a surprise appearance in the interview and said with baby Tripp, "Get beyond the ideal of abstinence. Hey, life happens."

You gotta wonder what Scooter has to say...and now...if he will tell what he knows.  I bet he will when it comes time to prosecute Cheney and Bush. And the beat goes on and on and on.
Oh, I'm shaking in my boots.....Cheney didn't get something he wanted.......he's furious.....scary.

Cheney should be behind bars, along with Rumsfeld and Bush for war crimes. Makes you wonder why Bush finally said no to him, though, doesn't it? Especially over this when Libby was obviously the fall guy for Cheney. Interesting.
So, why don't they get married?  What's stopping them?
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah.  This poor girl just does not have a clue.  Sometimes I really feel sorry for her and then I remember, she's a republican and just trying her best.
>>>During the interview, Bristol said, "Eventually we'd like to get married."

Why do I get the feeling that "we" means Sarah, Bristol, and baby Tripp?  Just asking.

>>>Sarah Palin, who advocated abstinence-only during the campaign, made a surprise appearance in the interview and said with baby Tripp, "Get beyond the ideal of abstinence. Hey, life happens."

Amazing how personal experience tends to change one's world view.  Again, just saying.

Get beyond the idea of abstinence?  Life happens?  We might get married some day, but that could change?

The new republican family values.  Straight from the filly's mouth.

Point, click, cut out those sound bites, and save 'em for 2012.

Sarah Palin shows her utter lack of adherence to ideals with her "Hey, life happens" comment.  The abstinence only idea is unrealistic to begin with and when it hit close to home, she abandoned it in a flash.  Wouldn't it have been much better if she had had a talk with her daughter about sex, birth control, and how her goals in life would change if she had a baby too soon?  Of course, maybe she doesn't know too much about birth control since she had an unplanned baby herself.
Nice how Palin changed her family values when "life happens" to HER family. Abstinence is unrealistic nonsense, andnow Palin sees that.
Cheney is furious at Bush. So what? Cheney is yesterday's bad news!
Scooter et al. Why am I getting the feeling these people are going to scate. My gut tells me the Washington environment has been so steeped in corruption for such a long time that it is infested everybody in Washington D.C. The evel will be swept under the rug and forgotten. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. New word, same song.
"Puppet Palin" the political "puke" of GOP/RNC politics loves to make ignorant comments. As for the "Dizzy Diva" being able to communicate competently? She cannot even accomplish that with her own family. That is a real joke! The "Dizzy Diva" has just proven again. That she has many "double standards" of how she runs her life. Good luck with that "Puppet Palin!" Time to move forward America!
Scooter should be happy he got something out of Bush.  His butt should be in jail.

As for the Palin girl; she should be working on her GED and finding a way to work out a path for a career to help pay for her child.  Can you count on the boyfriend?  Only time will tell...  She is a reason why abstinence-only programs don't work.  Kids will experiment because they are: bored, see it on tv and in the movies, are encouraged by their peers or a number of other factors I can't immediately recall.  Teach all the options and make sure one of the aspects is having the parents in for one class, but the parents must hear what is being said so that they know what is going on.
I will give W just a smidgeon of credit:  W could have played the low road - like daddy H before him who pardoned many (Weinburger, Abrams, McFarlane, et al) that could have fingered H for his dirty deeds.
On the other hand most of the damage is already done via the commuted sentence;  No need for Libby to fess up and finger Cheney - and Bush knows exactly that, underachiever that he is, that much he understands.

So much corruption, so little principle....
Nothing like putting out some red meat for the mindless left wingers. Rumor and innuendo are always ways to get things going.
Situational ethics - Gov.Palin - ah gee, she is human after all. Life has a habit of messing up oneself-devised philosophies including those said to be found in the Bible.
Sure, stock market is tanking, fighting continues in the middle east, banks are going under, we don't make cars anymore. So lets talk about Cheney and Palin!
Cheney has a personal interest in seeing Scooter pardoned since it was his office that outed Valerie Plame Wilson, an act bordering on treason. Knowingly identifying a US spy trying to stop the proliferation of WMD gives aid and comfort to terrorists and jeopardizes national security. Thanks Dick!
Too bad Bush didn't have the backbone to stand up to Cheney from the beginning. He could have been a good president. Instead he's the hand-puppet that destroyed the country.
Now that Sarah no longer has to worry about being a VP candidate, funny how her views change.  We were assured that the kids were getting married, you betcha!  Now that the campaign is over, funny how it just doesn't matter.

"Life happens?"...I wonder if that will be her campaign slogan in 2012?  Thankfully, this whole story gives her detractors more fodder to use against her in any future political campaign.

The gift that keeps on giving.

And you should be in jail for character assasination. We dont see you with your high powered lawyers going after Cheyney.LOL. ALL TALK....Diarrhea of the mouth.
I think the Cheney - Bush fallout is a masquerade. Libby was following orders and they need him to take the fall and not sing like a canary. If Bush had given him a full pardon it would have looked extremely suspicious. Of course Cheney had to act like he was looking after his man. In the end if Libby does not sing he will be rewarded by the republican establishment.
The idea of "abstinence only" is to try to prevent unwanted (not the same as unplanned) pregnancies. Once the baby is there, its there, mistake made, move on. It doesn't make the ideal any less worthy. Family values aren't things that just happen around Norman Rockwell's dinner table, they are how you handle the problems that come along. I think Palin is handling it really well. She walks the family walk even when it veers off course. Mind you I'm glad she's not the VP, but you hyper-vigilant people "on the hunt" for right-wing hypocrisy aren't really thinking it through. One of her children has Downs, she new before the birth and could have aborted, but again she walks the walk. You may have your own set of laxer standards you choose to live by, but I'd be proud of a wife like her despite her lack of knowledge about the middle-east...

Say goodbye to "drill, baby, drill"...say hello to "get drilled, baby, get drilled".
The Moral Majority advocates are very agressive at pushing their morality on others, until their time comes to experience life, then, shrugging shoulders begins... Hypocrisy is never outdated.
Hey, Amsterdam, it starts with teaching your daughter to keep her knees closer together!
Life happens?  No, consequences happen when God's plan for sex is not followed.  Abstinence is the only plan without consequences.  Birth control potentially, but is no guarantee, eliminates the unwanted pregnancy consequence.  It does not eliminate the emotional consequences, nor the potential consequences of STDs. But hey, the world says, if it feels good, do it.  It doesn't hurt anyone.  Baloney - how may children in these situations are born to parents who aren't ready to be parents, or who's father doesn't support them, or whose parents continue to only be concerned about the pleasures of life and not the responsibilities?
Why are we still talking about this woman? She really has nothing to add to the national discourse, except possibly comic relief.
