Holder is tonight's stay-away

Posted: Tuesday, February 24, 2009 10:50 AM by Mark Murray
Filed Under: , ,

From NBC's Pete Williams
Attorney General Eric Holder is the cabinet member who will not attend tonight's presidential speech.

By custom, one member of the cabinet is designated to go to -- as we say these days -- "a secure location," in case that person is needed to carry on as head of the government. Since 9/11, the stay-away is typically a member of the national security team.

"Although Lawrence Summers, head of the National Economic Council, fell asleep on the podium, most attendees, including Republicans, appear to have appreciated the exercise. There was even some light-heartedness."

Couldn't care less about Eric Holder or the other screwballs that Obama has picked for his Cabinet of Crooks.

Stay tuned for more doom and gloom talk from BHO tonight on NBC, CBS, ABC and all the cable news affiliates. Thank God for TV Land and GAC. Maybe I'll put in a Sienfeld or Frasier DVD. I'll learn what the Chosen One said tomorrow morning in a one minute TV highlight.

If he's put in charge, his first act will be to rename the U.S. the Cowardly States of America.
Eric Holder looks reminds me of Town Clerk Howard Sprague on The Andy Griffin Show.
Holder is staying away?  Sounds like a coward.
Excellent Choice
Pace yourselves folks . . . we've got 3 years and 11 months to go . . . wouldn't want you to blow a gasket or anything.
wow: i am so tired of people complaining, do you not have any faith in God, i am a black man and im happy that we have a president of color but my faith is not in man nor him, my faith is in God, yes i never had a millon dollar but i never ask for handouts either, thank God for his grace and mercy towwards us, we are back in the land wear God delievered us out of when he open the red sea all we do is complain about every thing, start praying that mr. President let God use him to help us get out the mess we are facing today God bless the president and the entire USA

You are right! Holder DOES remind me of Griffith's Howard Sprague too. One exception. Spragues's character was smarter.
"The Republican-owned mainstream news media" who Fox?  The right doesn't run the media the left does, and has for decades.  The stimilus is a pay off to the Democrats' districts of congress for winning the election.
Re-read "The broad support for the recovery package comes as just 10 percent"  That's the media doing its job, reporting SOME of the pork in this bill.  If anything the left via "Main Stream Media" is distorting what was in the bill so John Q has no opinion of it at all based on facts.

If you would do a little research and stop spewing the talking points of Lush Limpballs and Slum Insanity, you'd learn that GE, Disney, Time Warner, and Murdoch, the owners of MSNBC/NBC, ABC, and CNN all contributed to Dumbya Bush's campaign.  It is a blatant lie that the mainstream news media are liberals.  Give it a rest

What's striking about the Republicans posting here is that they are only concerned about "their country", the stock market, their "principles" and big business.

Absolutely no concern for actual people other than themselves.

As Jesus said, by their fruits you will know them.

Moon Dawg...I couldn't agree with you more. 24 hour cable doom and gloom is whats bringing everyone down and causing panic. How can the stock market ever gain confidence with all the doom they constantly report. The media loves this kind of reporting because of the ratings. Just like the weather channels love to see a monster storm coming.

DITTO!!!! AND AMEN!!!
Nashville_fan:

I believe Jesus said or intimated the following as well:

Judge not lest ye be judged.

I still don't understand why someone as obviously intelligent as you are descends to generalizations and lies about an entire group of people.

It's really no different than stereotyping a race, gender or ethnic group to demonize them. It's a demonstration of the same kind of ignorance.

And yes, I know other people do it.  It doesn't make you right.  And I don't hear our president talking that way.  I think he'd be ashamed of your comment.

Well, I guess I've placed my self at risk for being judged.  Nothing new there, I suppose.

Irregardless of how you felt the last eight years. It is 2009, The year of "The chosen One" now. this is his party now, just like when you are a reliever in a baseball game; the game belongs to you. When you assume the role of POTUS, you get blamed for good and bad. Cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

All of you liberals are full of s*(). You have not a damn thing decent to say but blame republicans for the negative discourse in this country. If I had a penny for every name Bush was called, I would be very wealthy. You like to dish s*() out but dont like to receive it back at your stupid azz.

Our entire federal government will be in the same room tonight. Democrats and Republicans.  Heaven forbid, if there were an attack on that room, some with authority form the federal government will be capable of serving.  I think the Attorney General is about 6th in line of succession.
Good Choice.
To Richard, Washington State:

Thanks for the back up on the Community Reinvestment Act issue. And thanks for offering us your unique, pragmatic, but always informative perspective on the issues of the day.

You've broadened my horizons, and for that I thank you.

Is it any wonder that none of the rest of us want to hear what Republicans have to say anymore?

Look at these childish posts from Loyal Bushies and Rush Republicans, who rubber-stamped the miserable failure, Mr. George w. Bush, for the last eight years.

Hey, kiddies, the rest of us have moved on from listening to what Republicans think.  We're taking our country back and -- to be honest -- we don't really even need you; you LOST.

The best thing that Republicans could do right now is just keep quiet and learn how Smart Power works. Remember how the country was in crappy shape after the last President Bush; and a Democrat (who also received NO Republican votes on his economic recovery package in 1993) went on to bring us peace and prosperity?

The most telling numbers regarding the utter confusion among Republicans these days are on display in the new Fox's polls:

The Democrats and Independents (those very scary "secular humanists" and atheists) both think Americans should help their fellow Americans out of this jam.

So guess who's out of step with the secular humanists and atheists, as far as helping their neighbors?

The Republicans and their Right Wing Religious Hypocrites!

ROTFLMFAO!
God bless America.
To Richard, Washington State:

I would agree that it is wrong to make generalizations about an entire group of people.

I intened to type the word "many" before the word "Republican", but of course, once you hit send, you can't go back.

Your point is well taken and I apologize.

The slight was not intended, but that is no excuse.

My bad.
Except for Palin, I would have been OK with McCain as President.  But Barack Obama was elected and now he is my President.  He has my full support.  I may vote for someone else in 2012 based on actual performance.  But for now, President Obama is the man and, God help him, he's got a ship on fire to deal with -- a fire he did not cause, but he is wading directly into it and I respect the hell out of that.
Craig, Sterling, VA

----------------------------------------------------

If McCain/Palin had won and had to address all the crap that Barack has to fix, thanks to the Bush leauge of republicans and Co., it would have been like.......

slathering a couple of blindfolded pyromaniacs, head to toe, with "crude" oil, stuffing their pockets with what's left of the US economy and matches and then sending them into a burning building.........

wearing suits made of C-4, with propane tanks strapped to their backs....................

riding "patriot" missles with sticks of dynamite clenched in their teeth and juggling live grenades while sweating gasoline, farting green-house gasses and singing.....

"Fire & Desire", by Rick James.....

Sarah Palin would have belted out Tina Marie's part, blasting away every ounce of intelligible discourse with her.....

tounge-mounted, truth-bending, snide remark launching flame thrower while wearing her.....

"Spirit-enhanced", "demon-repellant", Ann Coulter Couture sight-proofed goggles and matching....

Hannity/Limbaugh/Boehner brand, progress obstructive, thought retardant, and common senselessness enabling, loud-mouth, ignorant, out of touch, neo-con fool-wear & dumbass helmet......

you betcha, my friends!
GSW - more useless and pointless dribble from another who doesn't know any better. Bush is no more. Get over it. Obama is the one people are taking to the streets to protest his left-wing agenda-ridden Stimulus that will kill the middle class just to give free entitlements to those on the bottom runge of society's ladder. Obama obviously wants to eliminate the bottom runge but he is too stupid to know you need a bottom runge to climb the frickin' ladder. You elected a dork for prez who thinks there are 57 states.
Interesting sequence of posts here, eh Nashville_fan?

You're welcome.

The other post ticked me off.  Response expected.
Richard ~ re your response to Nashville.

So, if judging is out, then what WOULD Jesus recommend?

In order not to "judge" them, do we let murderers go free?  I doubt you'd agree with that.

In order not to "judge" them, do we all lie down and let the greed and fear mongers, many of whom have broken not only God's laws but civil and criminal laws, continue to rob us blind, destroy our civil liberties, and wreck everything the rest of us have worked so hard to build?  Since when was that the rule?

In order not to "judge" him, do we let Osama bin Laden go free?  (Oh, yeah, I forgot; that was George W. Bush.)

Jesus didn't say don't judge, Riohard.  If He did, then that other part about "knowing" them by their fruits is meaningless.  What Jesus said is merely don't judge unless you allow yourself to be judged.

Judgment happens, Richard.  It happened at the ballot box last November 4.  I hear it every day on this site from conservatives who, without foundation, call liberals lazy or stupid.  But, funny thing, I don't really hear you saying much about THAT.

And not only that, your own comment is a classic example of the judging of which you accuse Nashville.  On what basis do you presume to judge HER?

Perhaps bush could show up and then we would have howard sprague and alfred e neuman in the same gag
moondawg, it must be tough living your world right now. You must hate waking up each day. How's the economy in your nexk of the woods. What have the one's you want in office offered you today.

Poor fellow. I will keep you in my prayers.

Okay. You seriously think it is only Republicans thinking of themselves? You are way too smart to seriously believe that.

Anyone lining up for the money, knowing it is coming out of our children and grandchildren's futures, has to be thinking about themselves, and at last count, there seems to be a lot of Democrats with their hands raised.

We as a nation are better than that of a beggar looking for handouts. We are a strong, ambitious people who will not sit and be told we are weak, poor and lost.

We can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens us.

FYI - Attorney General is 7th in the line of succession...

1. VP - Joe Biden
2. Speaker of the House - Nancy Pelosi
3. President pro tempore of the Senate - Robert Byrd
4. Secretary of State - Hillary Clinton
5. Secretary of the Treasury - Timothy Geithner
6. Secretary of Defense - Robert Gates
7. Attorney General - Eric Holder
BTW: Respect and Appreciation

I have a lot of respect for Keith Olberman, Rachel Maddow and David Scuster because they seem to be the only shows that actually report facts with professional ethics, by the way, big thanks to Keith for following the "New York Post story about the none apology".

Because you kept this serious issue in the news, it appears that Ruppert Murdoc has issued a formal apology and hopefully take active participation in his other media entities as well.

He seems to have an over active festation problem in his holding that need extermination.

I am okay with Holder, as long as Joe Scarborough is not the "chosen one" to lead the country if something horrific happens to the Prez and the VP, I am pretty comfy with anyone else.
This is JUST plain old DUMB. Obama has no affect on market. The Banks and the Billions lost in PONZI schemes have affected the market more than anything.
get a clue dumb dumb

Nj

Stock Market has dropped each and every time Obama has given a speech or news conference since becoming President, the tune of approximately 300 points each time. Coincidence? Not based on the poor assesment he presents of our country, our people and our future. No President in History has been able to negatively impact the Stock Market in his first month by simply opening his mouth.

OMG! Doogie Houser at # 5! That boy is driving without a license. He is lost, and in need of a GPS.
Pete, that line up looks like the cast from Happy Days. You can match the appropriate character with the names listed.

Better yet! How about The Office! Now that's a real winner.
Anna Molly:

I simply responded with a judgment and opinion of my own on Nasville's comment as it appeared in black and white. That was the basis for my "judgment".

Where did I say judging is "out"?  As the bible says in many other places, judgment can be a very useful tool if applied, shall we say, judiciously.  Not as a tool of generalization to demonize people you don't even know.  When you do that it reflects on you.

Nashville_fan seems to understand that better than you do.

Anyway, enough philosophy.  I have to begin mentally preparing for how I'm going to judge Obama's speech in case I watch it.

To Josh Larson, FL:

I certainly hope that most Republicans/conservatives don't only think about themselves.

But I have noticed that often conservatives seem more concerned with abstract concepts than with the effects these concepts have on actual people.

Maybe it is just a different style of communicating, but it disturbs me.

It makes me feel like many conservatives do not care about the real people paying the price when their economic theories don't turn out the way that they planned.

I don't feel that their intent was bad, but often time the indifference expressed by conservative leaders/commenters to the negative outcomes some of their policies result in really bother me.

The Republicans here are pretty pathetic.

scarborough or palin, neither one of them - all others, step in line.
I'm confused.  When Obama talked "hope" he was criticized for being a dreamer.  He talks realistically about the challenges we face and he's "doom and gloom".
The Democrats here are pretty pathetic.
edward l. williams (aka whoever)

Interesting that capitol letters don't exist in your world, indicating to me that nothing is important in your life. My opinion.

My life is fine, doing well. It's not the same for too many who are losing their savings and trust in their misguided government.

Don't wither your pettiness on me, eddie. All of us aren't hell bent on socialism. Most of us do for ourselves. Pity that's not your case.
Nashville_fan:

Honestly, I'm not stalking you.

You'd actually be surprised how many Republicans are not indifferent or uncaring.  As you might expect, I hang around with mostly Republicans and conservatives.  I don't know any that are not engaged and caring about their community on every level.  They are also financially generous to the causes that make the community better on every level.

I know fewer Democrats/Liberals but would not hesitate to say the same about them.  This actually the way I see the real world in which I live.

I would also say that the vast majority of the people who post here are essentially the same and that their motives for whatever they say, regardless how annoying they can be at times, are sincere.

Even Erik, Bowie MD.
