Was McCain speaking for himself?

From NBC's Mark Murray
With House Republicans expected to release their hard budget numbers this week, it’s worth noting that on Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” John McCain said Senate Republicans were working on a detailed budget alternative -- contradicting what we had heard previously from Senate GOPers.

MR. GREGORY: Do you think that Republicans should provide a detailed budget alternative?
SEN. McCAIN: Yes.
MR. GREGORY: With numbers?
SEN. McCAIN: Yes.
MR. GREGORY: Will that happen in the Senate?
SEN. McCAIN: We're working on it, working very hard on it.

Video: McCain discusses Obama's plan to help the economy on "Meet the Press."

But Don Stewart, a spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, tells First Read that instead of working on a budget alternative, Senate Republicans are working on amendments.

Yet Stewart adds, "As Sen. Gregg said last week, if they accept our amendments, we’ll have one helluva substitute." Still, that's not a detailed budget alternative...

Oh, what's that mean, you gas bag? That the repugs will have something non-helpful to wave in the air while screaming that President Obaba is doing too much/ not enough?
So they're working on another coloring book.  Maybe this time they'll give out crayons so the press corps can color in all of the pretty graphs and charts.  Maybe they'll add some pop-up figures as well.

BTW.  Who the hell woke McCain up anyway?

During the presidential campaign, I thought it was just McCain that was weak on the economy - now it's apparent it's a general weakness in the GOP.  They publish a 19-page budget without numbers and now it's unclear whether they're going to finish the job or take another approach...and who's going to do it.  Gosh - it's hard work!  So much easier to simply criticize anything Obama does.
Let me guess.... Tax Cuts, Tax Cuts, Tax Cuts.

Like that's gonna fix anything.  Get a clue, Repubs.
How did the budgets Democrats produced under Bush stack up against the one's he submitted?
The US citizens have already endured their (the GOP's): "helluva" job.  It has been rejected.  The GOP has been rejected....2006 and 2008 elections.

Trickle Down doesn't work.  Tax cuts don't work.  Laissez fair , Milton Friedman economics don't work...unless you're greedy and think you need more, more, more

The adults are in charge now.
Umm...amendments by their very name are an alternative to the budget.
Is it me or does it seem like the Republicans are off in LALA LAND? I can't remember a time when they were A) in agreement or B) Made much sense or C) were aware that people are watching them make themselves look stupid. One would think they would keep the budgets with no numbers in them at home. I mean in school I never turned in blank homework like I had acieved something amazing. I've never seen so many do so little or more accurately do so little that makes sense. These guys need some kind of therapy. I don't know what kind, but definitely SOME kind of medical help.
How much worse could it possibly be right now if McCain had been elected?

Careful, you will get black listed if you point out hypocrisy or falsehoods from the 'right'.  Are you sure you want to go there?

PS.  Have you all been in meetings today or what?

PSS.  Nice try to 'gin up' posthumous interest in MTP.  I read the transcript and I'm still not 'buying' what DG is selling.
Just today, during Andrea Mitchell Reports, a Republican Senator (forgive me, I forgot his name) said that it was up to the majority party to present the budget, not the minority, which made it painfully clear that the Republican Senators don't want anything to do with an alternative budget.  I commend Senator McCain's common sense, but I fear his sentiment is not shared by many in the Senate.

The last time we saw Republicans offer amendments, it was stuff like "make the stimulus 100% tax cuts" and "let's have a government-wide spending freeze on all things except military."  I doubt these will be serious amendments.
What_you_Selling: '...Why isnt first read reporting on Bidens daughter being filmed doing blow?
The VP's family iis off limits now, seems you didnt have any issuee with invadeing a 17 yr olds privet life when it was cannadate Palins daughter?...'

Actually, the press covered up scandals by the Bush twins

They were expelled from Argentina for alcoholic escapades and general, all around sluttiness

Didn't hear much about that from the media did you ?
How the heck is he STILL news?  He was a knob before, a knob on the campaign trail, and has gone back to being a senator/knob.

are you just hoping he lives for 8 more years so in 2016 when count porkula runs again she can point to him and say "see I very well could survive for 1 or two terms"??
um, excuse me, but what the GOP said last week, when they released their budget blueprint, was that details would be released this week.  I don't see a contradiction.

What you might be more interested in reporting is the freedo of information lawsuit the Obama administration LOST last week, attempting to keep secret where the bail-out/stimulus money was going.  The court is scheduled to hear contempt of court arguments tomorrow because what they released, when ordered to do so, was so redacted as to be unreadable.  The 'most transparent administration' is hiding what it is doing with public monies as if they were portecting national security secrets.  The silence on this, and other media outlets, is deafening.

Oh, and Chris, Il-the 'you only watch Fox' taunt has as much resonance as the 'you listen to Rush' taunt-the DNC answer to 'your mother wears Army boots.  I'm out of grade school-are you?
That'll happen when you're a "maverick" who just can't help being in front of the cameras all the time.  Besides, it's not like McCain understands the economy anyway - he said as much in previous interviews.

Just for you...

I would like to list all of his blunders - but there is only so much space available on the world wide web.

yakety yak...whine and moan all you want but unless you can offer Americans a real alternative and not just more of the same republican playbook of tax cuts, increased defense spending and some pandering to the yer on yer on crowd by threatening to cut welfare to poor black mothers but not to defense contractors or bankers...no thanks
Is mccain still taking 250K a year out of the mouths of poor people?
Talk about the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. Course, we realize that no republican seems to know what they are doing.I wonder how long
they think they can get away with their hypocrasy, swiftboating, party first mentallity, unworkable, unacceptable, outdated ideas, constant support of
big business and the rich and failure to give middle class America any credit for intelligence??
I am appalled by their actions. They have made our
political system the laughing stock of the world.
No he wasn't just 'speaking for himself', he was, once again, just making stuff up that you guys buy hook, line and sinker.  Understand?  HE MADE IT UP.
McCain's full of himself.   People of Arizona, we need to kick this hasbeen out of his seat in 2010.   Anyone, but McCain.
crowd by threatening to cut welfare to poor black mothers but not to defense contractors or bankers...no thanks
Sick of the republican liars (Sent Monday, March 30, 2009 3:25 PM)

You are a racist - why do you single out and assume that the poor on welfare have to be Black Women.

Typical Racist on the Left - go back to your KKK rally - you disgust me.

Franklin (Fannie Mae) Reigns, Obama's buddy, stole 12 million dollars of taxpayer money in his bonus.

Mr. President, where is your concern and equality?
sick of the rupblican liars, just so you kow there are more white people on welfare then black people
This message if for "The Last Living Democrat". If all you do is keep up with the mistake in words that was used by President Obama, you need to get a life. What about the good things he is trying to do.  Also did you keep up with the mistakes that was said by the "Bush Administration?

The "relationship" between Franklin Raines and President Obama has been repeatedly debunked.  The McCain Campaign made it up to link President Obama to corrupt Black businessmen in the ad in which they darkened President Obama's skin tone (true story).  Please site your source for their supposed interaction.

He gave $120,000 to Obama's Campaign - so of course Obama cant say anything.

Pay to Play the Obama Way

Blago - pay attention to the way Obama does it.  That is why that politician from Chicago is the President and you are unemployed.

Do you want Obama to support you - its simple - write him a check!  It appears that the going rate is 10-15% return.

Chicago Thug - aka Obama
Last night I sat down to watch again, "V for Vendetta", the last scene depicts thousands of citizens marching in protest towards parliament to see it blown up by Mr. V!  Being sick of all the republican crap, ... watching the protestors march toward parliament brought back memories of the elections last November!  We that were fed up, marched to the polls and voted out the Republican Bush/Cheney/McCain regime!  What's left is just noise!
As far as the GOP is concerned, pretty big news today in Michigan and Pennsylvania, with Pete Hoekstra's gubernatorial announcement and Pat Toomey's statement that a Senate run is "very, very likely" set up the prospect of bruising GOP primaries. (Details: http://campaigndiaries.com/2009/03/30/bruising-primaries/ )
