Palin still attending Indiana fundraiser

Posted: Wednesday, April 01, 2009 3:45 PM by Mark Murray

From MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell
Sarah Palin's dinner date with Republicans in Washington may be off, but she's still planning a political trip in two weeks to Indiana to attend a Right to Life fundraiser.

Her political travel is likely to raise new questions. Her spokeswoman said she would not commit to a Senate-House GOP dinner in June because she was focused on Alaska state business -- not politics.

On April 16, Palin will be attending the Vanderburgh County Right to Life dinner in Evansville, IN, as well as a breakfast the next day for S.M.I.L.E., a nonprofit organization for people with family members who have Down syndrome. Palin's spokeswoman, Meg Stapleton, said Palin will be taking a "36-hour vacation" to attend the events in Indiana. Palin's political action committee will pay for the travel.

Palin was replaced as the keynote speaker at the Republican dinner in Washington by Newt Gingrich. The event's organizers grew tired of waiting for her to commit to the party's big spring fundraising gala.

Stapleton said Palin would not agree to political events until after April 20, when the Alaska legislative session ends. "She is focused on Alaska," Stapleton said today.

And while Palin's camp claimed no hard feelings about being replaced by Gingrich, Stapleton said, "She probably would have said yes if they could have waited."

Stapleton could not explain why Palin would say yes to a political event in Indiana and not attend a political event in Washington. However, she did note that Palin wanted to honor her son Trigg, who has Down syndrome, at the S.M.I.L.E. event in Indiana.

It's possible there could be a huge increase in political travel by Palin after the legislative session in Alaska ends. "There are thousands of requests" for appearances across the country, Stapleton said.

I don't know.  Can you see Russia from a hotel room in Indiana?

Palin/Steele (or Steele/Palin) in 2012.  Let's make it happen.

However, she'll cut or refuse funds for families with children who have special needs in Alaksa. Hyprocisy at it's finest, once again, Sarah.
Evansville Indiana: Southwestern part of rural Indiana.  Lots of rightwing nuts live in that part of the state.  She will fit right in. She will have to draw people from Louisville Ky and Indianapolis to fill up the room...which she will do.
You are a liar and can't resist the camera. You're such a dizzy woman. You can't even stand up straight. You're so busy looking for you tail to stand before the cameras...Sarah Smile.
So she'll be focused on Alaska in June, but in April she'll be focused on campaigning?  Isn't there a big ol' volcano spewin' ash and stuff all over Alaska right now?  You betcha there is!  But it's more important for everyone to realize Governor Palin is really, really, REALLY pro-life than for her to make sure the GIANT OIL RESERVOIRS at the base of the volcano don't blow up...don'cha know?
DejaVooDoo ?

'Democrats Predict 210-Vote Victory for Murphy

by Jonathan Singer, Wed Apr 01, 2009 at 02:31:58 PM EST

Chris Cillizza has the details.

Venture capitalist Scott Murphy (D) will win the special election in New York's 20th district by 210 votes after all outstanding absentee and military ballots are counted, according to projections made by Democratic Party officials and obtained by the Fix.

The projections -- based off of the county performances by Murphy and state Assemblyman Jim Tedisco (R) on election night -- show the Democrat gaining 115 votes in Warren County, 96 votes in Columbia County and 70 votes in Washington County as well as scoring smaller gains in several other counties. Tedisco's only major gain, according to the model, will be in Saratoga County where he will net an additional 116 votes.

The Democratic projection puts the total number of absentee and military ballots at 5,584 with Murphy winning 2,864 and Tedisco taking 2,720. On election night, Murphy held a 65-vote lead -- 77,344 to 77,279.

Don't be surprised to see the Republicans fight tooth and nail in the hopes of wiggling their way on top of this election, much the same as they have for several months in Minnesota. Indeed, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see the GOP drag this process out even in the absence of evidence that they have a real shot at victory (again, as has been the case in Minnesota). But right now, with the initial tally favoring Democrat Scott Murphy and the projections not looking too dissimilar, the numbers suggest that there's a good chance that New York's 20th congressional district will stay in Democratic hands....'

HA !! HA !!

Suck on THAT !!!

It's only a GUESS !!!

Palin attends a Right to Life dinner, something the libs abhore if they even know what it is.

Sarah ... good for you and thanks for upholding the Declaration for life and liberty.

Remember, Obama voted to snuff out a child's life  when it was born after a botched abortion (3 times).
This is our fearless leader.

I'd be surprised if FR prints this. We'll see what happens here, right Mark?

She learned that from John McCain. He cancelled on Letterman because he said he had to go to Washington to focus on the economy and instead went to an interview with Katie Couric.  Birds of feather.

I could be she heard there would be no teleprompter.
Yawn.
Silly Sarah thinks we are all as dumb as she is.

"Stapleton said Palin would not agree to political events until after April 20, when the Alaska legislative session ends. "She is focused on Alaska," Stapleton said today.

Yeah, right.  She is the most opportunistic pol out there.  And, oh, by the way, the GOP is done with her.  They will use her for some fundraising, but they know that dog won't hunt in 2012!
I am sure the 2-days of vacation will be properly deducted from her accrued balance.  The new scam is that executives get 4-6 weeks a year of vacation; but they never actually take it, so when they leave office - their vacation payout is essentially the size of a nice 'severance' package.  But, I know Sarah would never take advantage of the good citizens of Alaska.  She has adjusted those expense reports, right?  and the per diems?  While 'technically' allowable, not transparently reasonable now were they?
How bout you solve the problems in your own state Gov. Palin??  I don't see Govenor Daniels doing fundraisers in Alaska??

Actually this is a smart move on the part of the Republicans. Let Sarah speak only on the one or two topics she knows anything about and only to a select group so she doesn't embarrass the whole party talking about stuff she is not able to intellegnely. That's just about everything. Throw her under the bus and she pops up again. It is like whack a mole. Eventually she'll get under one of the tires or the hammer will whack mole Sarah hard enough that she'll shut up and stay in Alaska, perhaps in a hermit's cabin just a little North East of Nome.

I admire a woman with both beauty and brains unfortunately Sarah has only the former and is lacking the latter. This stereotypes her (even though she is not a blonde).
Palin is a class act.
By the time 2012 rolls around this broad will be nothing but moose mincemeat!

Of course it will be delacately garnished with one of those beautiful corsages she's so fond of!

So they're basing all their hopes on Newt? Now, THAT'S funny!
I would think the dems would be super anxious to promote Sarah Palin no matter what.  She is perfect fodder for their trash machine and they would love to discredit and demean her as much as possible, including MSNBC.
You mean she might actually campaign and be involved in political events EVEN WHILE SERVING IN ANOTHER OFFICE?  She actually might eat, sleep and travel in the process?  She might do this on money from donors and political action committees?  Horrors!

Clara, Kansas City:

Union workers I have known have done the same with both vacation and sick leave.  It's not a new "scam".  In fact, when I retire, I'm going to end my career with vacation time, too.  It's just a matter of timing.

As for perks of office?  There is a reason the president is only paid a $400,000 salary.  Book advances help, too, but they have to be received just before taking office, but apparently is OK just after being elected.

My guess is that his library plans are taking shape already and he will get eternal severance pay, just like the members of congress and senate, who get "career" benefits pretty much after abbreviated "careers".  I rarely detect embarrassment or regret from any of these yahoos, Dem and Republican alike, Obama or otherwise.  Arrogance is arrogance.

When Mr. Obama takes aim at his own litterbox, I'll pay some attention.

LB in FLA:

See above for further definitions of "opportunism", especially the presidential opportunities.

Not saying Obama is any different than previous presidents.  In fact, that's the point.

But somehow, Obama can get away with his "Rezko" and Geithner's forgiveable mistake can be greater than any benefit Palin has received, but your eminent fairness chooses to rail at a successful woman whose net worth puts here right in there with a large portion of the middle class, Obama's purported friend.

Ironically, Obama came from the same type of modest background and has become politically successful.

And it's Palin who is dumb?

(Lest I sow confusion in simple minds, the line immediately above this sentence does not apply to Obama)

So keep using Palin, folks, to show where YOU really come from.

You are a liar and can't resist the camera. You're such a dizzy woman. You can't even stand up straight.
------------------------------------------------------Wow, Beverly, now you're picking on her posture.  Priceless.  And by the way, her 'cutting funding for special needs kids' has been debunked, so you may want to quit repeating that.  By the way, what state are you the governor of?

================================
I know what a Right to Life dinner is and I have no problem with her attending.  I'm personally pro-life but politically pro-choice.  I would never tell my wife or girlfriend to get an abortion but I don't think it's up to the government to tell a thirteen year old girl whose father raped her that she's required to carry the baby to term.  My problem is that her approval rating has dropped by 50% since she was named VP running mate.  She has an erupting volcano, rampant unemployment, and she's willing to refuse funds for special needs children in the stimulus.  But rather than actually govern, she wants to jet set to Indiana to appear at a fundraiser.
Wow.....duuuh....does anyone care?? That group will not have any REAL old-time Republicans. They have moved far right to be extremists, and will be out of power fopr 20 years. They do NOT get it. The silly and hypocritical antics during the past week about the budget signify that. If they had ANY good answers, we would not be in this economic problem...they always act like they have answers AFTER they screw it up. And both Palin & Gingrich are right-wing hypocrites.
Can't wait for Saturday Nite Live to have Tina Fey & Will Ferrell reunite for a, Will You Pray With Me skit. Should be Hillarious !

So you can only criticize a politician if you've held elected office?  Well thank goodness because I've had about enough baseless Obama bashing from all of these charlatan non-former Presidents!!!

BWAAAAAAAAHHH ha ha hah - jealous of Palin!!!  Now that's a good one!!  Sorry, I prefer women with brains.

Nope, never been a governor, but I bet my IQ and knowledge of current events smokes the Sarah "Entertainment Tonight" Palin.  It didn't take me 6 years and 6 colleges to get my degree.
At this point, we can only say to her disadvantage, she speaks honestly, which often gets high profiie people in trouble quick.

Most people I know make mistakes, don't always speak properly or have some type of personal quirk.

The thing I think most people saw in Palin was she was trying to be honest, not say what people wanted to hear. That doesn't work well in US politics.

Unlike Obama and Biden who have back tracked many times on promises made and speeches delivered, and Biden being thrown under the bus by Obama and vice versa, saying what you feel typically keeps you on an honest path in life.

Personal attacks usually are a result of fear or jealousy in a person. Policy and political attacks seem most often founded in a difference of political opininon or philosophy.
Wow, I forgot how much people hated Sarah Palin.  The audacity of her, to not abort that down syndrome baby of hers.

THIS IS TO DIANE FROM ILLINOIS:

You know, I said the same thing. I even tweeted it to schuster1600 for hypocracy watch. I don' know if you watch MSNBC much but he's the host of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. @ 1800 hours. She is just about worn out her welcome with the RNC. It makes me feel good to see someone like her who acts like you should bow down & kiss her feet. Who knows she might like that. I'll have to ask THE FIRST DUDE. You should watch 1600 if you get the chance, he really comes up with some good ones on his HYPOCRACY WATCH.You'll have a good day NEWT/PALIN 2012
She won't accept political engagements until after April 20, except for the 36-hr one April 16, because of the Alaskan legislature but the big GOP function is in June.  You mean the organizers of the June meeting couldn't wait another couple weeks to get a speaker.  Looks like somebody got dumped.  No doubt Newt Gingrich had conversations with the GOP powers that be and convinced them that he's their man; or maybe it was Karl Rove.  With luck, Rove will be in prison by 2012 along with the other crooks in the last administration.  I hear Guantanamo will be available early next year.
It's hard to figure these moves by Palin and her apparently small group of handlers. She is staying as far away from moderates and any hint of becoming mainstream Washington fare.

Palin needs to understand that riding the wave of right wing extremist support only gets her so far within her own party (see; Mike Huckabee...), let alone winning the White House.

You honestly think ANYONE would be jealous of Sarah Palin?  Surely you jest!  The woman was elected for her perky looks - not her brain, as she has shown the world since she entered the 'main stage' of politics.  She'll be a 'one hit wonder' and never be re-elected in Alaska.

I've read more intelligent posts from Beverly, Diane, Jawillie and Clara than I've ever heard come out of Silly Sarah's mouth!

Back to your dreams, Ron.
Hopefully she will attend another GOP fundraiser in the future. I voted for Obama and I would probably not vote for Palin ever.... However, I like her as a person.

What about my post was false or inaccurate?  Do you read the cr@p posted on here daily about Hillary or Obama or Michelle.  Give me a break.  If she (or you -her public defender) can't handle the heat, then get out of the friggin' kitchen.  I am sure she can take the criticism, why can't you?  And please, Me? - Jealous of Governor Palin?  You are joking.  I wouldn't trade my world view, knowledge, education or career for one minute in her moccasins.  So spare me.
Ron Lincoln - Tulsa, OK,

The thought that I'd be jealous of someone who can see Russia from her front yard makes me laugh so hard, I can't catch my breath! Oh, thanks, for a good one! That's hysterical. Oh, it wasn't meant to be, was it? Never mind.
Oh goody! More appearances by Sarah Palin. I love having her in the news, as often as possible. I'm sure it cheers up her rightwinger base and just reminds the rest of us howe barely missed having her a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Never relax!

I'm sorry but I still think that Track or Trig or Tripp or Truck or whatever the hell his name is!  Is still her grandson!

2 + 2 never adds up to 4 where the Palin's are concerned!

What a woman !  Palin 2012 !
Please tell me that FR and all the media isn't going to report on every luncheon Sarah attends!!  Tell me this woman's 15+ minutes is so over!
Not sure why this is even newsworthy.  I highly doubt Palin will be around come 2012 and even if she is, she'll never survive the primaries.  After last year's fiasco, no candidate in his/her right mind would choose her to be the VP again.
Let's just leave her alone and let her do what ever it is she does.  Forget about it.

You know, I think you choose the wrong word, Ron.  It's not jealous, it's embarrassed, disgusted, bored... but jealous?  Never.  And I was mayor of a small town - and they didn't have to hire an administrator to clean up my messes.  And I didn't take my budget into the red.  And I never fired the librarian because she disagree with me nor did I try to ban books I didn't like.

For you to say we are negative and non-encouraging?  It was my laugh for the day.  Palin showed at the convention and at every event following that she is truly one of those high school mean girls.  She spit hate and sarcasm and lies.  Did some of you fall for it because she looked good in a skirt?  You betcha!
