North Korea fueling missile

From NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski

With President Obama abroad for the G-20 summit, U.S. officials tell NBC News the North Koreans today have begun fueling a Taepodong-2 missile. The North Korean government says the missile is intended for satellite launch into space.

The officials say now that the fueling process has begun, the missile could be launched as early as tomorrow.

While precise timing is impossible, the last test launch of a Taepodong-2 came at 3:30am, Korean time, 2:30 pm ET.

As I said before, the North Koreans aren't stupid enough to launch a nuclear attack.  This is posturing, EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE posturing, but they stand to gain exactly nothing from a nuclear attack.  Kim Jong-IL is a God-King in North Korea, and he happens to be the world's top collector of Cognac.  He has anything he wants at his disposal and the people of the country literally pray to him as though he was a God.  If he launched a nuclear attack, he would lose all of that in a matter of days.  Whatever he gives, he would get back times 20, and he would gain, like I said, literally NOTHING.  The only country I would even think he may want to invade is South Korea, mostly because they're exploding with commerce and have a ton of food compared to the North.  By nuking South Korea, he destroys all the crops and completely crumbles the economy there.  Ipso facto, he's full of BS.  Really really really scary BS, but it's completely illogical to think he would attack us or anyone else for that matter.

On a side note, we blew our biggest chance to get him to give this up.  We had a real dialogue going there for a minute this summer, but when it came time for the Bush Administration to pay their end of the deal (food and aid), they balked.  Therefore, the momentarily-stalled Korean nuclear program jumped back to life with ferocity.  This illustrates that the Koreans CAN be reasoned with, but they expect to be treated fairly and with respect.
Too bad Clueless George couldn't get Lil' Kim of North Korea to play nice and stop playing with his nuclear weapons and long range rockets.  But then Clueless George and Prissy Poser Rice were more interested in belligerence than diplomacy.

Oh someone needs to inform the person who wrote the articles over the past few days on msnbc.com that Japan does not have battleships, cruisers and destroyers capable of launching anti-missile missiles yes, but no battleships.  Heck we no longer have battleships.

I don't know why so many are getting so upset over this, I mean if the missile is made in North Korea it will fail and fail spectacularly.  Japan should be ready to clear the resulting trash from their skies.
The North Korean missile will be target practice for our anti-missile system.  Wonder what the North Koreans will do when they see it blow up somewhere in the Pacific Ocean? Their leader is as crazy as Michele Backmann!
I'm sure the reprehensibles will claim that Obama didn't stop the tests yakety yak...I can't remember but who was president the past 8 years when this missle was being designed and built?

Perhaps if the neonuts hadn't started a war they were too chicken to fight in we could have focused some effort on N.K...by the way will any of you chickenhawks be voluntering for duty on the korean pennisulu?
Why not use that money fto FEED YOUR PEOPLE ??

That said, the NK nut has every right to test missiles

The US, the russians and the chinese all test missiles
Why not North Korea ?

Better to watch out for Israel attacking Iran
That's dangerous !!

Israel sent nuclear technology to South Africa resulting in a South African nuclear explosion in 1979

WHO decides who gets nuclear technology ?
The Japanese, Americans and possibly a few others need to be ready to shoot that thing down as it "accidentally" heads towards Japan or a US warship in international waters.  The North Koreans are going to be pissed if: the rocket heads off course into the ocean (blame Americans); the rocket lands in Japan (blame Japan even if it kills people); the rocket blows up on the launch platform (blame the Americans and the Japanese).  I am waiting to find out that it actually had a low yield nuclear device that was set to arm itself after reaching an alttitued that it never gets to...
I wouldn't say George Walker Bush was clueless concerning North Korea. Eric in Salinas is pouting again and is clueless himself.

Bush warned Korea and did you see them attack or even give any real signs of a threat? NO.

Obama is weak on national defense and that's why all of these nations are turning up the volume. They are showing us their strength while Obama throws another party.

Bush kept us safe. His #1 goal and he handled it well.
You jackels that are stupid enough to see otherwise might want to find a neighborhood bunker to crawl in to.
I can't believe you people are taking this so lightly.  Of course, though, you blame it on Bush.
The fear mongers will be in fine form today. But we aren't so supid as to think our military wouldn't shoot down any missile thought headed for any US soil. Countries like N. Korea aren't stupid either. They know the best way to wipe their country off the face of the earth is to start a nuclear war.

J-i-n-g-o, J-i-n-g-o,J-i-n-g-o, and jingo is their names-o.
MSierra ... grow up.

The enemy is at the door with the push of a button while you're doing your dumbass San Francisco blog-a-thon.

All hell will break loose when we least expect it.
That's a promise from whichever country chooses to strike.

You might want to climb to the top of Coit Tower and be a lookout, if you've got the guts. But on second thought, loosing San Fran might not be a bad thing.

-----------------------------------------------------

#1 it's "Losing" San Fran

Hell is not going to break loose, and like i've said in other posts, this is absolutely a cry for attention and nothing more.  This is the lil guy who wants to be part of the global "mafia" who pulls out a gun and says, "oh yeah? what now!"  Even though he's got 40 people with guns pointed at him.

Everyone else's gun is bigger they are wearing body armor, and the lil guy is a poor shot.

As much as you like to think so, the people who are in charge of launching such a weapon are not your local yokle from the corner 7-11 who flunked out of the 8th grade.

They understand that they would become a slick puddle of molten rock and silicone if they attacked anyone with such a weapon.

The attacks we have to worry about are financial, and on our networks.  That will send us back to the stone age sooner than a ICBM

P.S.  Losing any city in this great country would be a staggering loss...even your intolerant city, where ever that may be.
And still the left wants us to provide food and aid to this country. Why are we fueling an anti-American war machine that is so cruel to its own people? Why is it right to give them food and aid when it never goes to the people who need it. North Korea will be a problem until it is wiped off the map but no one has the b@lls to say it as they are all scrambling to be politically correct. Some problems have to be solved with a hammer, not a handshake. North Korea will continue to be a problem unless the US, Japan, South Korea, and most of all China put their collective feet down and stop supplying one of the greatest threats to the world.
When will you people wake up-when this rocket hits Hawaii, or Los Angelas?

Hilary is 'threatening' to report North Korea to the UN if theylaunch this missile-what exactly will that accomplish?  They won't be invited to the next wine and cheese party?

Obama is completely out of his element here.  He is clueless, because it was not an exercise in his college diplomacy class.  He is an ivory tower academician, not suited to live in the real world, let along be president of the United States.

He is doing nothing about it because he does not know what to do.  It is that simple, and 47% of the electorate understood that.
every body that thinks the president does not know what to do about North Korea or iran, he is going to china and russia by the end of the year. he is doing what Nixion did back in 72 requarding to vietman. he is already buddy buddy with the russian president and he and the chinnese leader as all smiles. the president is letting them both know that it is in the best interest to not let either of them mess with us, neither country want a nuclear weapon exploded in the region and if iran and north korea develop these weapond this will happen. so the president will engage them give them some coin (money) and this problem will soon go away. why didn't george try this, instead he want to a missle defence system, that only pissed off the iranians.

WRONG, JUST SAYN'.  GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!  HE WAS READING "MY PET GOAT!"  SO THERE! <End snarky sarcasm. lol>

The real worry for you tree hugging lefties is whether or not the missile is fueled with a renewable fuel like ethanol or biodiesel.
no joe, go blo nj,

You're right, if Bush was in office he'd go out and torture a Canadian teenager, that'd show those North Koreans.
GP, Indiana

Here's one example of your idiocy. You deem me intolerant and so you deem my city intolerant.

Surely you must know there are people like YOU in my city or town. If they are like YOU are they all dumb***es?

My point
You might want to climb to the top of Coit Tower and be a lookout, if you've got the guts. But on second thought, loosing San Fran might not be a bad thing.
Moon Dawg.

Oh brave moon dawg.  Please report to your nearest USMC recruiting station and sign up.  Or better yet please return to your trailer or the bottom of the gene pool.  On second thought, the Corps wouldn't accept a miscreant of your intellect.  Sorry Marines  I didn't mean to insult the Corps. Semper Fi!!
I think China will not do much. They let Japan salvage that spy ship that the JSDF sank back in 01 or 02?, much to the N. Korean's dismay. Given N. Koreas level of technology and expertise I imagine the rocket could blow up of it's own accord or by intervention and they would have no way of effectively knowing for sure what happened. We are talking about a country that has had to switch from cows to goats for their dairy and meat staples becuase they can't sustain bovine dairy or meat production anymore.
Brian Crooks:

Why doesn't North Korea solve everything and simply join the community of nations as a responsible member?

I think the world would welcome them with open arms if they opened their country to the world and what it, including South Korea, could do for their people?

Isn't North Korea 100% responsible for their own problems?

Kim Jong-Il is a despotic extortionist.  Nothing more, nothing less.  This is his latest go-around with the extortion routine.  Why give up a good thing?
North Korea wouldn't attack us.

Just like Japan wouldn't attack Pearl Harbor.

Maybe we should send them some DVD's to show how sorry we are for existing.

PS- Obama I love you - please dont fire me!

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

This is just a smoke screen......Do you really think so.... You might want to read up on Rumsfeld.... Donald Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle.  Bush Admin let him take us to war.... Sit on the sideline because it's your way of thinking that slows progress down.  If you venture outside of this country they call us scare lil Americans... Wonder why..""""""hummmmm REad up on the history of this country you will realize we are the 8000 pound guerrilla in the room..... If you can't respect your prez and believe in this nation GET OUT!!!!!! Respect your blessings.....
shoot it down obamma is just a  little girl and he will not do anything he is going to bring the us to its knees  he needs to act now or he will show he has no leadership and no control north korea is telling obama what to do and threatning us like we are nothing and they are the world power
I have read a lot of the posts here. One thing that gets me is the fact that everyone is right, and everyone is wrong. First off; let NK launch the missle/rocket. Monitor its progress. Intercept it if needed. Second, I think this is just a ploy to get the big powers to fly off the handle and get a war started. Good ploy. Get the world in an uproar, then let them kill themselves.
On the subject of Bush, I think that the Bush administration had NK scared. This is why they never attempted such a launch during his administration. However, there is now Obama. Young, inexperienced, and showing signs of socialism/communism. So it is easy to see that NK wants to push his buttons to see how far they can push the man.
I will say this in closing. As the son, grandson, brother, brother in law, cousin, and friend of many many many military personnel, Obama needs to remember that they took an oath to protect the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. NOT PROTECT THE MAN.. OR THE MAN BEHIND THE POWER.  This is America. Unfortunately it is beginning to look like Russia, Germany, North Korea, Iraq, and Cuba.
rogue nation-I'm trying very hard to understand what the heck you are talking about.  No one is talking about giving up liberty here-I am talking about giving up an American state or city-which, if North Korea bombs them, we will be doing.

I DO travel extensively and regularly outside of this country.  In fact, the media has mischaracterized the view of the Europeans toward America for years.  Big surprise, kind of like Michael Moore going to the UK and not finding even one of the 750,000 people waiting for treatment from the National Health.

As for reading the history of this nation-well, what can I say?  I could challenge you to an exam, but I doubt you'd take me up on it.  If YOU knew anything about the history of this nation, you'd be as appalled at the direction we are heading in with this president as am I.  If you understood anything about economics, you'd be as appalled as am I.  In fact, if you knew anything at all, other than the DNC talking points, you'd be appalled.

I don't know what they teach in West Virginia, but it sure isn't critical thinking.
we should shot this missile down at once.
no more debate. we have to treat this guy like kadaffy and slap him WHEN WE CAN AND THIS IS THE TIME.
