GOP watch: Palin to the Lower 48

Posted: Monday, April 13, 2009 9:13 AM by Domenico Montanaro
Filed Under:

Never beloved by her own state party, Sarah Palin is under attack from some in the state GOP again. "Among the Republicans' biggest complaints: Palin is disengaged from the legislative process," the Juneau Empire reports. "There have been multiple complaints that Palin administration officials won't take positions on bills, including any indication about whether the governor is likely to sign bills that make it through the process."

"Palin herself will be leaving Alaska this week to attend the Vanderburgh County Right to Life dinner in Evansville, Ind. on Thursday, as well as an event for special-needs children. Fairbanks Republican Rep. Jay Ramras questioned her leaving town right at the end of the session, when critical decisions are being made," the Anchorage Daily News writes.

Barrett makes a hostage and pirate negotiating tool.

It’s called a 50Cal negotiator.

As Maxwell said - Bang Bang
Maxwell's silver hammer came down on their head.

I thought we don’t negotiate with pirates.  But, I guess things are 'Changing'.  I hope for the best.

God Speed Navy - you have my support no matter the outcome!

So what you are saying is you don't give a tinker's dam about the captain being held captive by those rats? All you want to do is start shooting. If the captain dies simply say "oh well"? If the captain wasn't in the rubber raft with them I would agree with blowing the raft to smitherines but with the AMERICAN captain on board it becomes a bit more difficult if we want to save his life. Some people care about human life others don't. Your post and those of others advocating similar action without regard to the captain shows which way you believe. Too bad you guys don't care enough about the American captain. Be sure and tell his family how much you care. I am sure they will appreciate hearing from you.

Force of guns isn't the only answer to every problem.

I am glad to say that Obama and the US Navy acted wisely.

I am also glad to see that Obama had the insight and respect for the US Navy and their ability to carry out this mission flawlessly.  And to trust them to do it!

I am also glad that the Capt. Is returned safely.

I am also glad to say that Eagle1776 was WRONG AGAIN!

I am also glad that Obama is not listening to eagle1776

God Speed US Navy – You guys and gals ROCK!!!!

No – force of guns isn’t the only answer
But, being a yellow left wing wimp – is NEVER the answer

Great Job US Navy and Obama !!!
3 shots – 3 kills
And no Lawyers fees – now that’s justice.

Eagle1776 – make sure you call the Capt. Family and tell them how you would have preferred that he was still a “safe” hostage, I’m sure they would appreciate hearing from you!
Oh boy, more Palin drama.
It's important that the a representitive of a state do their job first, and pursue higher office later. Looks like Palin isn't getting that message. Maybe she should model her political ambitions on someone that has done his job first and ran for President later - someone like, Barack Obama.
First Read, can Palin ever do anything right in your eyes?   There are 50 governors in this country, but according to you, the actions of only one governor  matter to you (with the occasional Paterson coverage).  Surely, there's an interesting story about a governor in the lower 48.  Or is that just not interesting enough to the people on this site who are happy to continue savaging Palin?
Sarah Palin kind of reminds me of the government version of Manny Ramirez.  He played like crap during the end of his time with the Red Sox, often doing bizarre things and acting unprofessionally, but his fans and supporters chalked it up to "Manny being Manny."  Meanwhile, when he was traded to LA, his numbers skyrocketed and he looked like an all-star again.  It was pretty obvious he was just doing enough to get by until his next gig came up.  Then, during contract negotiations, he grandstanded and acted like a little brat to get some extra money and ended up signing the same contract he was offered months before.

Sarah Palin needs to worry about doing her current job now (Red Sox) and wait until next season to try to switch teams.

And to Enough, already, you can't blame FR for this.  The article clearly states that the dissent is coming from Alaska Republicans, the very people who should be the loudest Palin supporters.
I just love watching the Wasilla Hillbilly self destruct.  It's just too funny seeing her in trouble with her own party now.  Hopefully the voters of Alaska will see through this Flim Flam Woman and her tirade of lies and just say no to her next election.  We don't need anyone who pals around with pro-lifers who are trying to overpopulate our planet and junk up our environment.

Pro Choice is the American Way!
I think now that the people of Alaska have taken a closer look at Mrs.Palin they see nothing but a empty suit. She is a propped up spokesmen for the Oil company's.She has little going on upstairs, and has shown how she deals with those that have crossed her,or don't agree with what she does. She comes across as a control freak, who has it her way or you get the AL=Can highway. The hole Palin story seems more    fit for the tabloids then prime time.
Palin won't take a position on bills? That's a complaint?

Obama NEVER took a position on ANYTHING except abortion. Nothing. Zero. Obviously the left only cares when it's the other party, which really means they don't care. Zero. Nothing.

It's because she is not showing up to work...she is too busy jet setting around the country.  She needs to remember it is "governor" palin, not "senator"

Meanwhile, the taxpayers of alaska are paying for travel costs for most of her family as they suffer during this recession.
The darling of the GOP is here in the lower 48.

She's going strong and gonna walk all over those who don't count, both Dem and Republican.

She's done everything for Alaska. Time to beat some sense into the congress and senate. Maybe her finest hour yet.

Sarah Palin.

Thanks.

And welcome to the lower 48 for some scattin' around.

Too bad, Alaska.  Palin got her nipples hard during the campaign and now she can see 2012 from her house.

(Nothing to do with the subject, but this is my favorite PALIN moment: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#27897845)

NEW BLOG ENTRY TODAY!

I'm tired of the Palin bashing.  What she does in news why?  It's National Enquirer crap.  I'm more concerned about the economy, jobs, our Nation getting back on track.  Palin is who she is.  Maybe, just maybe she's doing the best she can with what she's got.  Time to move on.  Let the people of Alaska decide her fate.
Maybe Palin isn't bowing enough.

Or, maybe she should vote "present" - if she does that enough she could be president!

The darling of the republican party!  Music to my ears!  Republicans please continue to use Palin ... she represents you well!  Perhaps schedule an interview for her with Rush Limbaugh, which will also represent the GOP and provide the rest of us with entertainment!
Wow...I'm sure Alaska didn't ask for a psuedo celebrity governor when they picked Palin. Looks like she is all for show, just like how she wanted to run the country...right  into the ground.
She is doing just as much work as the rest of the GOP.  hehe.
And to Enough, already, you can't blame FR for this.  The article clearly states that the dissent is coming from Alaska Republicans, the very people who should be the loudest Palin supporters.

Brian, my point is First Read can report on anything but they choose to report on this.  Why is First Read fascinated by the actions of one governor, when there are 49 others and surely there are stories connected to them as well.  Do the actions of any state party or state legislature, except for the ones we reside in, affect any of us?  No.  And of course, I already know why FR is reporting this story.

This will be the first day she's left the legislature since the session began.  The guy complaining is positioning himself for a primary run.   This is just another opportunity to trash Palin.  I recall a few weeks ago when someone gleefully reported that Todd Palin's half sister was arrested for breaking and entering.  Well guess what-Obama's half brother was arrested for sexual assault last week.  Where is that in the news?  It's just as germane as some of the far-reaching Palin 'news.'
Palin probably won't take positions on bills because she doesn't read them or care about them.  They involve mental work and aren't shiny.
just like how she wanted to run the country...right  into the ground.

Looks like Obama is doing a fine job of running the country into the job all by himself.
Alaskan ~ It's apparently in the news wherever YOU read it.  And where was that, if you don't mind sharing.
Perhaps the Republicans in Alaska know their governor better than the rest of us do. I am anxious to see how she does in the next election. Will Governor of Alaska be as high as she goes or will she try again to go higher? I believe she'll try but fail again. She is too fringe for most people even in her own party. Fringe radicalism is what is hurting the Republican party right now. They need to move to the center or suffer more and more losses.
Palin is two-faced and self rightious and its all a fraud! How come no-one is talking about her own shot gun wedding. An eight pound baby born less than eight months after her quick marrige at the court house and picking two stragers from across the street to stand -up as their witness's. At best she does not practice what she preaches!
Why can't Palin just stay in Alaska and watch Russia from her house? Gah!

Or, it could be because Palin has made herself the most highly-visible GOP governor there is.  I know there are other governors who are doing big things and are making big decisions, but none of them are in the top 3 choices of who the GOP wants to be the next President.  Sarah Palin is.  This is the same reason we still see Jennifer Aniston/Angelina Jolie "drama" on the cover of Star and Us magazine years after Aniston and Pitt got divorced.  They aren't incredible actresses and they aren't making huge career moves, but the public cares about them more than, say, Helen Mirren or Meryll Streep.  Until the GOP gets over their major infatuation for Palin, this will continue to happen.
Palin- all fluff and no substance.  She just proves it to lower 48 every time she opens her mouth.  When will the rest of the GOPers realize they have made, and continue to make, a mistake promoting this opportunistic politican.  Even her own Alaskan GOP realize who she is and what she is not!

Nobody is talking about that because it's stupid and nobody SHOULD talk about it.  What has happened in her personal life 20+ years ago is no more relevant for her than for anyone else.  There's plenty to talk about regarding her policies and her positions without needing to dig up the details of how her marriage came to take place or whether her first child was conceived in wedlock.  That's just as bad (if not worse) than bringing up President Obama's drug experimentation or the ugly details behind McCain and Gingrich's first marriages.
It's better for New York if their media doesn't report on things like this.

First Read is hardly a GOP site, and they're the ones reporting this, Brian.  In fact, I hear more about Palin on left leaning media outlets and websites than right leaning ones.  So I would say the infatuation, or obsession, or desire to highlight and trash Palin, comes from the left.
Can we please stop hearing about the trailer trash from wasila already?
Maybe she thinks the bills are for clothing and the RNC will look after that.
Perhaps we ought to thank McDunce for giving this twit anytime on the national level?
Interestingly enough, Rep. Jay Ramras has missed about 30 days of the legislative session.  The entire Alaska legislature took a week off about a month ago, with half of them flying on the taxpayers dime to DC, and the other half just went home.  They have no room to complain that Palin will be taking a 36 hour trip.

========================
You're missing the point.  She has emerged as THE voice within the Republican party for the arch-conservatives.  That's why she polls ahead of every other Republican governor when social conservatives are asked who they think should be the next President.  The media (left, right, or in the middle) would be wrong to completely ignore her and pretend like she isn't popular.  I think your problem is that she's not being noticed for any legislative achievements, only for political posturing and grandstanding.  If she had achieved some great legislative victory in the state (let's say she successfully outlawed all abortions in AK), it would be absurd for the media to ignore that as well.  The problem is, as the article states, she's NOT doing her job.  She's NOT communicating with GOP state representatives on where she stands on bills or what they should do next.

I think the media needs to drop the stories about her kids, etc. (see my earlier post in this thread), but when there's news regarding her job performance or lack thereof, the media needs to report on that as well.
If you want to talk about Palin's actions 20 years ago.

What about Obama doing Cocaine 20 years ago!!!
Or smoking Weed 20 years ago!!!

Or what about Obama being the Happy member of the "god damb america" church!!!

This is why MSNBC ratings are even lower than Palin's

Obama - I love you - please dont fire me!
I'm sorry I've said this before and I'm quite sure I will say it again, but the most important thing I can say about Sarah Palin as a presidential candidate is that she is the grandmother of a child who has two high school drop-outs as parents. What kind of message does this send?
What excuse do these two teenagers have for dropping out of school? Do they need to get jobs to support the child? Are they not intellectually able to complete the work? This woman needs to get her own house in order before she thinks about taking up golf, much less than something as intense as national politics.
I realize her potential as a fund-raising source for the Republican Party. However, if she hopes to use the banner of family values to run on, she should first look at the supreme example being set by the present residents of the White House.
Get those kids back in school governor... In fact, maybe you should consider bettering yourself scholastically as well.
In reading the Alaskan newspapers it is obvious Palin's popularity is declining.
This person, who was so outraged by President Obama
misspeaking about Special Olympics, wants to turn down
some of the stimulous package which includes millions
for special needs children.
She puts her ambitions before family and responsibility. She is such a hypocrit and phony.
All you anti palin dumpers-it is so easy to critize when you are siting in your lounge chair eating your chips and peanuts then it is to actually make a contribution isn't it? As for her empty head-give me a break-amyone who does not agree with your pathetic lack of understanding ideas has to be empty headed-certainly they could not disagre with you who are so well educated and experienced. Typical Americans with just opinions and nothing else to offer-well remember oopinions are like ______ every one has one.

Brian, you might want to watch how you talk to people.  Telling me I'm missing the point and then going on to tell me what my problem is probably not the most effective way to communicate.  You say she's not doing her job effectively (since you live in Illinois, I can see how you would know that).  My governor is the head of the DNC.  I don't fault him for that, but he's not exactly spending all of his time working on matters important to the state of Virginia.  Does that bother you in the same way that it bothers you about Palin?
But you may be right about one point you make.  Do you know why Sarah Palin is, as the story reports, 'never beloved by her own state party'?  Because she's spent much of her career rooting out corruption.  Now tell me Brian, why doesn't the media ever report on that?
Brian Crooks, can you point out the current polls that show Palin ahead of other Republicans?  Not doubting your veracity, I just hadn't seen that.  Thanks!
If Palin could root out the corruption in the Democratic Party, there would be no Democratic Party.
It's that bad.
Enough Already, get a grip.  Go to another website if you're in pursuit of touching stories about Sarah Palin. Robert McCreary, you need to take a deep breath and then use spell check. I need a translator for Spend, Baby, Spend and The Last Living Democrat's posts.  Sheesh...
The Corrupt politians in Alaska dont like Palin.  Because she is exposing them! Republican and Democrat alike!!!

However, in Chicago there isn't any Honest politians that are willing to stand up.  Blago, Jackson Jr, Burris & Obama are all part of the corruption that runs thru the Chicago Gang Thug Pay to Play Politics.

Pay to Play the Obama Way
If it wasn't for Chicago Thug-politics Obama would have never moved up the political ladder!  He greased lots of hands on the way up - and he payed them back with the stimulus package.

Why did the stimulus money go to so many "non-bid" contractors?  Kind of like the money Bush gave to Cheney's Old company.

Obama and Bush sitting in a tree.
P-O-R-K-I-N-G

Obama is spending nearly a BILLION on a computer program to track health expenses for Americans.  I am a computer programmer and with some friends, could write this program and set up hosting servers for about a million (1000 times less than he is spending) where is the other 999 million going???  And why cant anyone but Obie's Buddies bid on this???

Obama - I love you - Please dont fire me!
PALIN, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT, NO BRAIN. SHE SHOULD  GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND GET AN EDUCATION ON THE WORLD. DID'NT SHE NOT SUPPORT THE STIMULUS ON EDUCATION? SHE LOOKS GOOD IN HER OUFITS AS LONG AS SHE DOES'NT  TALK. NO CLASS..
another $20.12 to sarahpac.org with my last paycheck!
