A star is born: Bo Obama debuts

WASHINGTON -- The First Dog made his debut on the South Lawn of the White House Tuesday afternoon before at least 60 members of the press.

"Here he is," President Obama said as he and his family walked out of the house.

"I've finally got a friend; it took some time," the president joked at one point when a reporter made a reference to President Harry Truman's famous advice that "if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog."

Bo Obama, a Portuguese water dog, frolicked with his new owners before a herd of cameras and scribes, before the president, first lady and the Obama daughters took him for a walk down the hill toward the fountain and the first lady's new garden.

"He's a star; he's got star quality," Obama said. "He's a rock star."

The long-awaited and much-talked-about arrival of Bo, perhaps the most famous dog in America, fulfilled a promise Obama made to his daughters during the election.

"That's a good-looking dog," the president added. "The only concern we have is apparently Portuguese water dogs like tomatoes. Michelle's garden is in danger."

A few minutes later, 7-year-old Sasha piped up, telling the assembled reporters, "He doesn't know how to swim."

Obama explained that the breed apparently had to be taught to swim -- even though they are famous for their aquatic abilities.

The president said the family would take turns walking the pup, that "of course" he would be allowed in the Oval Office and that the family wanted to make sure they were responsible dog owners.

Isn't that special!  Are you guys ever going to remove your lips from bama's butt?
One request: don't film any cheezy home movies with Bo as the star, a'la Barnie-cam.  It made W. look like a buffoon and it would make Barack look like a buffoon.  The dog is adorable, and I'm happy the girls have him to play with, but let's not spend time working on and rehearsing for a dumb movie these next 8 years.
This whole episode is pathetic. PATHETIC.

Obama accepts a dog from Ted Kennedy. A water dog.

Teddy has one and his name is Splash.

Should the guy who let a woman drown in his car, after he swam away and left her there for hours before reporting it, really be giving gifts of Portugease Water dogs?

One of the deans of the Democrat Party, a guy who leaves a woman to drown. Not surprising at all.
I heard that Glenn and John and Sean and Billo are already crying that any dog from Portugal is a socialist dog and our nation is in great danger!
I do admire the fact that the "rescued" the dog from Ted Kennedy.

So they did lie about getting a shelter/rescued dog, but so what.

Its the Obama tradition..
Watch the righties comment on this.....3....2....1. Okay where is the vitriol, the rock star comments, the snark that is sure to come from the haters?

The first family gets a puppy. How nice that is. He is a cute little guy too. Maybe he can be taught to lift his leg on some of the haters.
And just like his Master, doggie pooh will pee on our collective legs.
Do Portuguese Water Dogs eat linguiça?

Pete, Salinas, CA: '... told my kids I am going out tomorrow and take out a big loan to pay off my bills so I can get out of debt.

They insisted I was just creating more debt....'

Actually, Pete the 'Three Stooges', Reagan, Bush & Bush created NINETY PER CENT OF OUR NATIONAL DEBT !!

W DOUBLED THE NATIONAL DEBT when he had a Republican Hous, a Republican Senate and a Republican Supreme Court

And he left us with the WORST ECONOMY since the Great Depression

Aren't you a little late to the Ball ?

Were you sleeping when the Three Stooges were running up the debt ?

Reagan: 'Deficits don't matter if the economy is growing'

Was he RIGHT, Pete ??

The photo of the President running and looking down  relating to the unleashed Bo is very warm and poetic.

Go Bo, Go!
