First thoughts: Tea time

From Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, and Domenico Montanaro
*** Tea time: Who would have ever thought that a discussion of tea bags -- even used as a verb, from both the right and left -- would become a political topic, let alone a subject we’d mention in First Read. But here we are… On this Tax Day, some Americans are attending so-called "tea party" or "tea bag" events across the country to protest everything from tax rates and the federal bailouts, to the young Obama presidency. But let’s be clear about one thing: These tea parties are hardly non-partisan events. While there’s certainly a grassroots component here, these parties have been co-opted by a major America political party (the RNC's Web site allows for creating send-a-tea-bag post cards to Dem leaders) and an entire cable news channel (which has been promoting the events). The main Web site for the events today, Tax Day Tea Party, is funded by conservative groups, and a public records search shows it's registered to a conservative techie, Allen B. Fuller, who used to be a legislative correspondent for GOP Sen. Richard Shelby and who touts creating Web sites for Republican elected officials. Also reportedly involved in today’s protest events are FreedomWorks, a conservative group founded by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, and Americans for Prosperity.

Video: Thousands around the country attended outdoor "tea parties" on Tax Day to protest what they say is a government spun out of control with too much spending and too many bailouts. NBC's Lee Cowan reports.

*** What Republicans might stand to gain -- and lose: With its association with these “tea party” protests, the Republican Party does stand to gain here in a mechanical/process way. If it gets a huge turnout nationwide, it will be a bit of a test run for its social networking apparatus. The Tax Day Tea Party Web site, in fact, is reminiscent of what the Obama campaign was able to do with things like voter registration and grassroots meet-ups. You can click on a state and find where there's a local tea party in any state in the country. This kind of tech savvy could pay dividends in the long run. On the other hand, this whole thing could backfire if some unsavory elements (i.e., people saying and doing some very stupid things) attend these events. Also, what happens if today’s parties don’t capture the imagination of anyone beyond the GOP amplifiers of FOX and talk radio? Today has turned into a big test of the power of the GOP grassroots in the Obama era. The pre-game for these tea parties has seemed a bit scattershot. One can sense a hesitance from the establishment wing of the GOP about getting too involved in this movement, for the fears we've described above. Tax Day has normally been an easy P.R. hit for the GOP, but with the tea party gamble, the GOP doesn't seemed focused on good 'ol fashioned tax issues.

Video: On tax deadline day, President Obama argued that his administration is making the system fairer, while some critics expressed their objections to government bailouts and the ballooning budget deficit by lobbing tea bags onto the White House lawn. NBC's Savannah Guthrie reports.

*** Obama on Tax Day: As for what President Obama is doing on Tax Day, he will deliver remarks at 11:55 am ET about “restoring fairness to the tax code,” as well as “providing tax relief to working families” in the stimulus, the White House says. How big of a political issue have taxes become? Not much, according to a recent Gallup poll. It found that 48% of Americans think the federal income tax they pay is “about right” -- one of the highest scores on this question since Gallup began measuring it in the 1950s. The poll also found that 61% believe the federal taxes they’re paying are fair. In the last few years, the GOP has seen its advantage on the issue of taxes deteriorate, and it's something that has thrown the party for a loop -- as without taxes as a rallying cry, the GOP has found itself with fewer issues to brag to the public about.

*** Shad Planking: Some states have annual time-honored festivals that mix fun and food with politics. In Iowa, there’s the state fair. In Kentucky, there’s Fancy Farm. And in Virginia, you have Shad Planking, which takes place today in rural Wakefield, VA. That event -- named after shad fish cooked on wooden planks (trust us, it’s an acquired taste) -- essentially kicks this year’s gubernatorial contest in Virginia into high gear as we head into Sunday’s Democratic debate (moderated by NBC’s Andrea Mitchell), the June Democratic primary, and the November general election. Shad Planking starts at 2:00 pm ET, and gubernatorial candidates Bob McDonnell (R), Terry McAuliffe (D), and Brian Moran (D) begin speaking at 4:00 pm; a third Democratic candidate, Creigh Deeds, is skipping the event. At Shad Planking, the gubernatorial candidates will be able to test drive their campaign messages, as well as display their organizational muscle through the sign war, which the Moran folks are all but conceding to McAuliffe’s campaign.

*** The never-ending recount: In the latest news in the Coleman-Franken race, the Democratic National Committee says it’s airing a radio ad in the Twin Cities that calls on Coleman to concede. “Franken won the election in November, he won the recount, and now he has won a legal challenge filed by Norm Coleman,” an announcer says in the radio ad. “Yet Coleman, and national Republicans who want to thwart the will of the voters, have vowed to file more appeals and hopeless legal challenges that will only result in more delay.” A GOP strategist close to Coleman emails this response to First Read: “Democrats can beat all the pots and pans they want, it won’t change the fact that we’re appealing, we’re going to the Minnesota Supreme Court, and we’re going to raise serious questions about how the recount and contest were handled, period.”

*** NY-20 update: As of yesterday afternoon, Democrat Scott Murphy was leading Republican Jim Tedisco by 47 votes (77,982 vs. 77,935), with absentee ballots still yet to be counted in Washington County, which Murphy won, and big Saratoga County, which Tedisco won. New York Democrats have been telling us that Republicans have been challenging a large number of Democratic absentee ballots to mask the size of Murphy’s lead (the challenged ballots aren’t counted in totals). And now we learn that Republicans have challenged Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D) absentee ballot. While we don’t know if Gillibrand’s ballot is valid, Democrats have seized on this, and Gillibrand even wrote a Huffington Post piece about it. In this contest and in Minnesota, Republicans have made a BIG DEAL about counting every vote. If Gillibrand’s vote is valid, that undermines that argument a bit, no?

Well, if the GOP tea bag party is peaceful and has somber moment for it's party then I would say “good for them".

But, if this becomes a mock KKK rally of events and people spur hatred and blatant lies and innuendos, and suggest blames to certain groups or color - then it will become apparent that these rallies - are event to recruit "haters" of our society and President.

This would be a clear sign that these people don't care about policy - but only their hatred for people who don't look and think like them.

If that is obviously the case - then we can't allow a small minority of Americans to  disgrace U.S.

This country has come along way from the days of slavery and violation of civil rights.

We won't let the few right wing nuts, try to over shadow the minor progress made; just to try and bring back the bitter hatred and wrong doing to so many unfortunate Americans.

Like it or not – we can not allow the GOP to start it’s own “home grown terrorist groups” anymore.

America allowed it once and thousands were killed – hung in trees, burned, beaten, raped, separated from their families, treated less than human – our government allowed those things to happen.   NEVER AGAIN, will we the people will step in and stop it – by any means necessary.

Those days are over – one way or the other.

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA

News flash NBC......Most protests are based in some form of ideology.  Anti War, Anti Gun, Pro Gay Marriage; there are some left leaning protest groups (you sure cover those well at your station).  Now for the right leaning protest groups; Anti Tax, Anti Abortion, Anti Gay Marriage, Pro Gun.....Do you see how that works.  One thing I will point out about the Tea Party protests is that many of the people at these protests are right wing but many are also independent and some even liberal (my example is many of the people I know in MN attending one).  Further, I find it interesting how all of your anchors and especially Rachel Maddow focus on the word Tea BAG more often then Party.  Apparently, the left is the only side that can twist words to a derogatory meaning and get away with it.  Frankly, I find the context in which your station trys to twist tea BAG into very offensive; any conservative trying to use this word with a double double entendre behind it would be blasted.  Have fun tea baggin' it up with all your buddies at the station today Chuck and Mark meanwhile americans will actually be taking this protest seriously.
Who are these Gallup polls talking to?  The people that don't pay any taxes?  I have taken a poll of my office and 100% feel we are paying too many taxes.  I will be going to the website to find my local tea party..
I'm on the left and NO ONE has ever asked me. 38% taxes is far to high and if I didn't have to work today to pay them I'd be throwing tea bags. LOWER TAXES NO NEW TAXES!!!!
Strange, but I don't remember MSNBC having a problem with the George Soros funded "Move On" or "ACORN?" Don't even remember it being brought up when numerous stories were being aired covering everything from war protests to voter registration?
Re: this whole thing could backfire if some unsavory elements (i.e., people saying and doing some very stupid things) attend these events.

You mean like ACORN people showing up and pretending to be Tea Partiers?? It's already known through the grape vine that they plan to attend these events and trick participants into signing petitions. Why would they act up as well?? Maybe that will at least get the events on the MS news.
They have a twitter tea time mind feed has about 15 messages per minute right now. http://context.me/mind_feeds_revolution.htm
Chuck, I guess its only okay when Democrats protest.

This blog used to be somewhat nuetral and was a great source of bi-partisan news.  But you guys have certainly been leaning left for quite some time. Can anyone point me in the direction of a website that actually just gives me the news without a slant (and no, I dont go to fox news)? I truly just want to read the news.
I will be consuming a lot of tea today as my own political protest against those who feel "Taxed Enough Already".  Bush lowered taxes on the highest earners while waging two wars and partaking in MASSIVE government spending.  I believe many are not taxed enough.

I get it, you LIKE having your head in a dark orifice.  Change has been hard on you.  The problem with your commentary – You may WANT to keep things the same; but the rest of America decided you don’t get to have your way.  Tough luck, I know.  Have you tried yoga to help deal with your ‘rage’.  You are definitely confusing dissent with sore losing.

“So far, Obama has "stimulated the Economy" with huge debt, stated that this "is not a Christian nation," and did not attend the inauguration party of the very people who protect our freedom every day!
These are precedents being set by a man who does not promote the Christian values of do unto others, and in GOD we trust, that made and have kept this country strong for over 200 years.
Taking from the rich and giving to the poor is not a way to teach work ethic to many welfare recipient, or to promote ingenuity and innovation.  The tax breaks he is giving to many Americans are just a front because targeted taxes on goods and services more than take this small tax cut away.
It is time to realize that less taxes and less government (and less socialistic ideals) are the answer.  Until we recreate work ethic and ethics in general (republican or democrat) this society will not change.  It doesn't matter how much money you put in it.”  LS San Antonio (Sent Tuesday, April 14, 2009 1:03 PM)

Have you heard the term ‘cognitive dissonance’?  I find your entire post to be a PERFECT example of why the GOP has zero credibility.  You launch with the ‘Christian Nation’ to educate us on how stellar your Christian Values are.  If you are really trusting in G-d, why don’t you sit back and relax?  I give G-d exactly the same amount of credit for Bush’s ‘win’ as I do for Obama’s.  PS.  Matthew 6:24, you really can’t have it both ways.  Quite frankly, capitalism is un-Christian behavior.  And with what the ‘moral majority’ did with it, over the past eight years, well – to many of us, it was down right criminal.  Jesus was a socialist, by the way.  Oh, and while we are on the topic of education, “Do Unto Others” isn’t a uniquely Christian Value, most religions espouse the ‘ethic of reciprocity’ as a fundamental principle.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethic_of_reciprocity.  I think you understand what is being said (cognitive awareness), you are simply disconnected from the big picture of how these things are interrelated (dissonance).  Whatever point you are trying to make about liberals being lazy and unwilling to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, is completely lost by the fact that you’ve prefaced your position by stating you espouse Christian Values.  The concepts, as you have narrowly defined them are mutually exclusive.  And I don’t believe

You have freedom to work, live and do whatever you want. Freedom people. Look at the big picture. So sad. Losers want democrats in power. Winners want conservative government. Idiots who think their intelligent but can't see the big picture want the left because it's the cool thing to do. So DUMB. Mike, San Francisco, CA (Sent Tuesday, April 14, 2009 5:06 PM)

You are insane.  Hit the spell check before letting us know how intelligent you are.  And, rightttt, Republicans DON'T want to tell everyone how to live, as long as you live like a 'good' Christian.  Terry Schiavo, defense of marriage etc. tells me all I need to know about the Republicans 'values'.  Interesting how they want to privatize the gains in industry; but socialize the losses.  Hypocrits, every one of you.
The GOP has this whole tea party thing wrong. The Boston tea party was a demonstration by the colonists of rejecting taxes yes, but they did it by dumping the tea into the harbor and therefore not consuming it so they couldn't be taxed. So it had two components: one, they showed civil disobedience by destroying the cargo (an illegal act) and two, they went without drinking tea (for a while). So what exactly are these people doing that warrants comparing what they are doing today to the risks that the colonists took?
Down ballot both races: Republican party obviously desperate for every vote they can beg, borrow, or STEAL.

Tea baggers are looking sillier by the minute. Have fun making fools of yourselves. Sometimes we just need to blow off steem with a little protest or something and then back to reality.
President Obama has a wonderful propensity to look at the big picture in order to plan for the unknowns. Bold, decisive action was necessary which is why the President is implementing a complex economic restructuring program.

On the other hand, the Rethugs and their supporters are thinking small and know nothing about delayed gratification. They have no idea that thinking things through have great benefits. If they did, we would not be in an unnecessary war with Iraq.

The tea parties are an elaborate stunt to point fingers at the Obama administration, which has been extremely successful in these early days of their leadership.

The Rethugs are lost, devoid of new ideas, incapable of thinking past their own shortcomings, and spend far too much time trying to discredit the President. There will be no success to the tea parties, but the media will cover them as though they were G20 Summits.

Houdini was a master illusionist also.
I do not believe the tea bag events are partisan, there is a growing group of US Citizens that are fed up with mis-management of all governments, federal, state, county, and municipal.  The country must be placed first, not coporations, wall street, and vested special interests.  Obama is over and I would request a two year furlough by all governmental offices.  If they are not there, no further harm done.
If most people are okay with the taxes they pay, why is the countries debt rising at an astronomical rate? Someone is going to have to pay for that spending, and that brings us to the American Taxpayer. The Democrats right now are putting Obama's spending on the Big American Credit Card. Someones going to have to pay for that spending though, and my guess is that the American Taxpayer isn't going to be too pleased with they see what they'll have to pay to pay off that bill.
Here's a tip for Obie.

DON'T let Geithner do your taxes.

Just trying to help out.
This blog about the tea parties is wishful thinking on the part of NBC...the American people, not some party hack, are responsible for this reaction to big government.  It is nice that the left has this organization to run interference for it...NBC is becoming irrelevant for "news", just like the NY Times.
Is it really un-American to conduct a lawful protest to what many feel is an oppressive tax code?  I have not heard one person, liberal or conservative who does not want to pay any tax.  Your statement is very presumptuous.  We currently have a government who would rather spend our tax dollars bailing out publically traded companies that have been failing for years.  I would much rather see our tax dollars used to repair our nation's infrastructure, such as bridges, roads etc.  These would create jobs and that my friend would help in stimulating the economy.  Bailing out failing companies is not the solution.  At the rate we are going, this nation will itself become bankrupt.
I'm really confused by what their message is? Obama is lowering taxes on everyone making under $250,00.For more income, the tax rate goes back to what it was under Clinton. Where were these people when Bush was spending and left Obama with a trillion plus debt? I think these people are Hannity and Rush clons that can't think for themselves and are functioning on the puppet strings of the radical right.
I guess you all missed the previous tea parties, all of which have been started by hardworking Americans from both parties. The point is that increasing our taxes and our debt burden down the road is still and increase in spite of a minimal reduction of taxes in the short term. Then there is the issue of Government doing what it wants to the people without their consent or best interests in mind. The original Boston Tea party was about that. Today's Tea parties are about the same issues.
You Democrats crack me up, when your world is shaken a little bit...you can all become unglued....you bet we are protesting, we conservaties smell socialism a mile away!!!!
i attended the tea party in Cincinnati and there were conservative, republicans, liberals, democrats and independents.  You state one cable news organization has been 'promoting' the tea parties?!  They are going to cover them like other MAJOR NEWS event....unlike MSNBC, which only covers 'politically correct' news events.
What is wrong with the 'one cable news channel' covering them?  Are you now jealous you didn't think to do this sooner?  I believe this may be the same cable news channel that is beating you in the ratings.
Get over it and just cover the tea parties.  'We The People' are upset about what, not only Pres. Obama is planning on doing, but what former Pres Bush did with the first bailout.
Try being doing fair reporting!!!!!
Never forget AIG or we are doomed to repeat it..
I agree that the tea parties are probably not very non-partisan, but neither is the main-stream media.
There just happens to be a coincidence that like-minded conservatives and independents are calling for less government and more freedom.  It's very much part of their core beliefs.
I would say that this article is "hardly non-partisan." You can never get a large group of people to agree on everything, but the main thing that the people going to these tea party events are angry about is out-of-control spending by Washington as a whole. Both right and left are guilty of obligating our children and grand children to huge debt. Most of us see no difference between the Democrats and Republicans anymore.
MR. TODD,
LOOKS LIKE YOUR TRUE PARTISAN VIEWS ARE ONCE AGAIN COMING THROUGH.  HOPE YOU PAID YOUR TAXES AND ENJOYED IT.  PLAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO ANGRY TAXPAYERS FROM ALL OVER AMERICA!  WE WILL BE HEARD DESPITE PEOPLE LIKE YOU.
That's awfully nice of the GOP and Fox News to expend so much effort drawing attention to President Obama's drive to restore tax code fairness.
I wonder if people in New York, Michigan, Illinois and California are happy with the overall amount they pay in taxes? These are four of the biggest states in the country, each with a huge debt, each with the highest taxes in the country, and each raising taxes even more on their ctizens
God Bless 'em.  Republicans protesting a Republican's tax policy.  Funny!
NBC should be ashamed that it can no longer produce unbaised reporting!

Current journalism majors in this countries universities should be appauled!

Considering your biase I will be surprised if my comment is posted on your blog.
This Tea Bagging is such a joke.  Are Americans that stupid that they don't realize they just got a TAX cut from Obama?  Thanks MSNBC for not doing what Fox Faux News did.
First of all, how can you have a poll that you consider accurate when it states that BOTH 48% and 61% percent of Americans feel their Federal tax burdern is fair? Bad questions, perhaps?

As to the former result (or perhaps both), across the country schools and teachers  are crucified for achieving the same results when it comes to student's reading and math scores. Why then, would less than half the country's satisfaction be anymore acceptable than half of the country's 5th graders being able to read?

It really has nothing to do with GOP affiliation; rather more to do with who is paying the most and whom is receiving the most.
A democracy = Two wolves and a sheep voting on whats for dinner
A republic = Two wolves and a well armed sheep contesting the Vote
Good morning Mr. Obama!! WOuld you like to join us for a little spot of tea on this fine day!!
Notice the list of freaks who now sponsor this petty pathetic tea party nonsense, Dick Armey and Dick Shelby.  Yeah Americanms for Prosperity is just a sham group who wants to ensure that the rich and greedy don't pay their fair share of taxes and get prosperous ripping the rest of us off as we have to pay more than our fair share of taxes.  Income taxes aren't the only taxes we pay and the poor and middle classes pay a higher percentage of their income on all taxes than the rich and greedy do.

I'm glad that Obama will be speaking today as he is about the only adult we'll be hearing from as the immature repugnant ones try to spew their siren song of tax cut welfare for the rich and greedy.  Hopefully MSNBC tv will just ignore these petty protesters and focus on real news.

Isn't it hilarious how now the radical conservative whining heads are now fighting each other about whether to praise Obama for his perfect handling of the piracy hostage problem?  So funny to watch them self destruct before our eyes and ears.

In Obama We Trust!
Paying Taxes is Patriotic!
Just Say No to Teabaggers!
I got more money in my paycheck this month because my taxes were lower.  Yea!  I'll drink tea to that!

The GOP(griping ol'pi**ed-off)party is soooooooooo
off base it is laughable.

It really is a shame that well-intentioned people allow themselves to be led around like a cow with a ring their nose by the most repulsive, blow-hards like hannity, limbaugh and steele.

Where is the logic and rationale for this demonstration of stupidity?

Oh, my bad, the republicans have no rationale other than greed and self-interest in manipulating people to make a buck.
I am so tired of the liberal press.  A client once told me "If you are 20 (years old) and not a liberal, then you do not have a heart. If you are 40 and not a conservative then you do not have a brain"  The 20-40 group have screwed up this country so SHUT UP! The people who built this country are sick of your "Wisdom".
I am a die hard independent and I'm very supportive of the tea parties taking place today.  It's about time for us to wake up and realize what a power grab these first months of the Obama administration has been.  I have been very disappointed in what I had hoped would be a refreshing change for our country.  Now I want to make sure my state remembers that the Federal government exists for our benefit and not to govern us.
I hope they use Lipton tea bags because the tea keeps coming out of the bag. It's irritating to have tea leaves in your tea all the time... This never happened before. Maybe Lipton is making their bags differently now?
Mr. Todd, I know that you would like to paint this as an anti-Obama event, but just maybe this is mostly about Americans exercising their right to free speech - which of course you fail to mention. What the GOP does or does not do with this event is inconsequential to the individual who is simply fed up with big, inneffective government and the partisan politicians who hold all the cards.
What a surprise that NBC news would point out that more Rebublicans are for lower taxes than Dems Did you point out the partisan nature of anti-war protests Why are you losing viewership?
Of course there are more conservatives involved in the tea parties - less spending and lower taxes are two of their main principles. Duh. (Notice I said conservatives - not necessarily Republicans.) However, just because there happens to be a lot of conservative involvement, does NOT mean that there are NO liberals, independents or Dems involved. There are plenty of them who are against massive spending and higher taxes. And, by the way, Fox is NOT "promoting" the tea parties, they are just covering them because they are NEWS! Fox may be biased to the right, but MSNBC is WAY biased to the left, so this article does not surprise me coming from them.
Personally I hope they raise taxes every bit of what it would take to pay for the current budget and the stimulus package.  Whatever working people are left in the Democratic party couldn't run to the Republican party fast enough.
I'm a former Democrat and Independent and now a Republican solely so I could vote for Ron Paul in the primaries.  I'd be at a tea party today if I could.

Messrs. Todd, Murray and Montanaro, why don't all of you voluntarily give more of your paychecks to the government?  It would help the country a little bit if people such as yourselves, who diss the tea parties, to set a non-partisan selfless example for the rest of the country to follow?
hmmmm, I voted a democratic ticket and I plan to attend this afternoon.
In all seriousness Republicans have been acting so inmature and classless. Our President is facing unbelievable situations both domestic and abroad. In less then 90 days, he has accomplished more then GWB did in the last 4 yrs. America had to accept a stolen presidency 8 yrs. ago but cry baby Norm Coleman can't accept reality. Isn't it better to loose like a man than to leave like a wimpering dissapointed little boy? If Bush had the same result in the pirate situation as did President Obama we wouldn't hear the end of just how great and wonderful GWB is. People aren't stupid, we see the lack of republican support for our new President. Obama marches on while they nip at the heals.
Where were the tea parties when the Bush administration was adding an uneccessary war to the debt we are paying with our tax dollars?  Worse yet, how about the soldiers who have lost their lives or have been maimed because of that war?  Where were their revolutionary urges then?  This president is cleaning up a big mess. He's doing his best and doing what the experts are telling him to do about our economic meltdown.  He needs our support, not a bunch of partisan sore losers.  Do these protesters (if any show up) like to drive on roads or bridges that don't collapse or have their kids learn in decent schools that aren't falling apart?  Do they not want to pay the salaries or medical bills of the soldiers who protect them?  That's what taxes are for, people.  And I just got a little federal money back in my salary last week.  Cause I don't make over $250,000.00. So what do I have to complain about?  Thank You, President Obama, for doing your best so far.
Liberal Media.... Tax fairness... Yes its fair that some guy making 20k a year gets a 4k refund after only paying in $1200.  Those who have worked hard to get where they are have to pay more money so that lazy people can slide thru life.... HOW AMERICAN!  I vote for Texas to leave the union and we all move there and live in a country where we dont have to listen to this liberal crap and help all the lazy people out that will just turn around and rob us for it.
It's unfortunate that you put information out that misrepresents what is really going on. I'm participating in a Tea Party protest today in the state of KY that isn't sponsored by anyone other than the people. This isn't a political event. In fact, I'm a registered Democrat. The American people want our country back. We are tired of Big Government, taxation, pork barrel spending, and the mainstream media who doesn't report all the facts to the citizens of our "Christian" nation.
The new face of the GOP is the "Deer in the Headlights" look and they can't look anyone in the eye while they spout their venom because they know what happened to America and they caused it.  The Republican party and their spokespeople (especially FOX commentators) are negative about any proposed solutions to the issues Americans are facing but yet they don't have a plan.  Just once could there be something positive and supportive coming from this minority party?  Remember when voters who didn't support the previous administration were deemed unpatriotic?  Well, the shoe is now on the other foot.  What will the GOP's plan be if the stimulus works, the economy turns around and the country remains safe under this administration?  We can only hope that the next election will effectively destroy this party of bitter, out-of-touch hypocrites who are only concerned with their own self-serving interests.
Even if given that in the interpretation of the poll question asked,61% of Americans believe their taxes are 'fair', it also means the 39% do not. I find it sad that FOX and talk are the only venue for their message. Although your thoughts here are clearly skewed in a certain direction, I appreciate your time to write something here about their one day. Maybe there is a dim hope for the minorities after all. Please consider my policy that if your vision is 50% right and 50% left . . . you are facing forward! Please make a fair attempt to keep your readers looking forward.
