No, YOU are missing the point.  She sat in on a briefing in 2002 where these methods were discussed.  NOT where she was told they were actually being used.  In fact, it was explicitly stated that should those methods be deployed, the parties would be briefed.  THAT is the part she is claiming never happened.  I am NO fan of Pelosi; but come on, we didn’t go to war with Iraq until March 2003.  Quit acting like this 2002 meeting was anything more than theory.

It is just this type of trite response that infuriates those of us supporting a Women’s Right to Choose.  What the hell does breast enhancement have to do with a very personal, wrenching decision that some women have to face through NO fault of their own (rape or incest)?  My issue with this debate is that it cannot be legislated fairly.  Ever.  Stop doubling down on stupid and attempt to show some compassion for victims of sex crimes.  The only boob I see here is you, but you are correct-it is indeed large.

We all know full well how secretive Tyrants Bush and Cheney were about anything and everything.  Considering that Nancy's briefing took place in very early September and the first waterboardings were in August of 2002 it's rather doubtful that the secretive bushwhacker administration did inform Congress they were actually using waterboarding.

Time for Tyrant Cheney to shut his ignorant lying trap trying to justify his lawlessness.  Waterboarding is torture and those who propagated this sordid lawbreaking must be punished.  We can all see that the few bad apples were in the White House yet look how the Tyrants Bush and Cheney tried to blame our soldiers.  We need to get rid of conservative activist Judge Bybee for his twisting the law with twisted illogic.

Hey MSierra, SF - Thanks for the reply to my earlier question regarding the CA Propositions we get to vote on Tuesday.  Even though we'll vote differently on all except 1C - the Lotto scam - it's still interesting to see how my fellow Californians are voting, especially my favorite San Francisco values First Read commenter.  I'm always wary of anything pushed by the CA Taxpayer Association, a bunch of cheapskates who think only of themselves.

But the best thing about the ballot measures is that not one abortion or gay marriage proposition got put on the ballot by the evangelical christian lunatic fringers!  Now that's change I can believe in!

My Granddaughter is coming out to SF this July for her Sweet 16th Birthday because she wants her Opa to take her around the Castro District.  She really got happy when I suggested I take her and her friend around to visit Polk Street.  She's making me somthing of a cult hero in her group of friends around Atlanta.

The only problem with her latest spin is that the meeting was described in the memo as a “Briefing on EITs including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on authorities, and a description of particular EITs that had been employed.”

Given the records show EITs were used on Abu Zubadaydah BEFORE the briefing, her claim that the description of the briefing is inaccurate is dubious at best.

She needs to step down as Speaker of the House.

First she says she was never told they "used" water boarding tactics.. then says she was told that Bush hadnt used them YET.. now saying that she was only told they used tactics that were legal.

Anyway she tries to worm her way out, she knew. She knew dam well.

So basicaly, its ok to lie and agree with torture if your a democrat?!?

I'm tired of the party system dealing with liars like Bush, Cheynne, Obama and Pelosi. A liar is a liar, no matter their party, their sex, or their color!

Which ones. The ones where she didn't know about the torture? Or the ones that she did know about the torture?

So one is a lawyer in a cushy Washington job and some high ranking government official (Bush or more likely Cheney) tells them that these techniques are legal rather than asking if they are and making it clear that to keep the cushy job they need to be a team player, they did whatever was necessary to please their bosses and that was to say that the methods used were okay. Sure it wasn't like pungi sticks in the finger nails or breaking bones so it must have been okay, right? Unfortunately they were wrong.

Should DOD or CIA working stiffs be accountable? No. Orders came from on high and they did what they thought best for their own hides. No one can blame them. The real culprits are Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft and some of their immediate subordiants.

Let's not take this detour: the central issue of all this is whether the U.S. government used torture on its prisoners. We want to know what was approved by Bush and or Cheney! Making this a story of Pelosi's rememberance is a diversion.

Pelosi. I guess when you don't have the truth to depend on, just start making stuff up.

Pelosi is dumber than a bag of hammers. Every time I have seen her, she comes off as evasive, coy, condescending, even patronizing, and certainly not truthful.

I'd like to see Pelosi testify under oath to congress.  That's how they convict everyone.  Come on Nancy, If you're serious testify under oath!!

She is a two-faced politician, not unlike most others. For her to make the claims and counter-claims reagrding this topic alone speak volumes of her character and integrity, which seem to have afflicted both parties. This is merely a microcosm of DC, a landscape which caters to and is controlled by special interests. The average American has no friends or allies in the capitol city.
