Political dominoes begin to fall in FL

The dominoes are now starting to fall with Florida Gov. Charlie Crist's (R) announcement that he will run for the Senate.

State Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink -- the Democrats' strongest statewide candidate -- has announced she will run for governor. "Today, I'm announcing I will be a candidate for Governor of Florida in the November 2010 election, and put my business experience and know-how to work restoring our economy," she said in a statement.

The Crist news also has set off a scramble on the Republican side, with several GOPers -- including state Attorney General Bill McCollum -- possibly eyeing the governorship.

The Florida GOP responded to the Sink news with a release entitled: "Floridians Won't Sink Florida."

“I welcome former banker Alex Sink to the governor’s race. After years of smoke in mirrors [sic], it is about time for Floridians to meet the real Alex Sink,” said Florida GOP chairman Greer.

Great Alex Sink screwed up the banks now she wants a crack at screwing up the state!

Will she be using Obama's TARP bank money that she received in bonuses to pay for her campaign?

A corrupt banker for governer - what a great idea - NOT
If McCollum runs, Sink is sunk.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Funny stuff from the florida republicans. They've had republicans governors down there for years and yet the fact that the state will be bankrupt the next time a storm comes through is a democrats problem. Just say no to the charlie crist socialism plan for sticking the rest of us with his states hurricane risk. No thanks.
Let's put into perspective some of the recession funk, shall we?

Under "W", a stimulus package was passed early in 2008.  Many of us received refund checks.  Summer came along and Wallstreet and the Oil Largesse had a field day gaming the futures on a barrel of oil.  Gasoline prices shot up to almost $5/gallon.  For many Americans that received stimulus money, their increase in fuel costs ate into those funds, as well as their regular household budgets.  The beginning of the 'end' had begun.  As small banks stumbled on their liquidity (and some larger finance houses), it became obvious that the risk formula was crumbling.  Congress convened and passed (&"W" signed) an emergency stimulus bill of over 3/4 Trillion dollars - unregulated, NO Pre-Conditions.  The combined costs of these two stimuli was 1.2 Trillion, if I recall.  But guess what?  It didn't work, and to top it off, those receiving money weren't any better with government money than they had been with their own money.  So we rolled up our sleeves in the new Congress and passed a more specific, more detailed stimulus package.  The results of which we are just beginning to see an effect - just in time for Big Oil to start to hike fuel prices.  Just exactly when are they going to be hit with that 'Windfall Tax'?  I know, that was Hillary's plan; but I thought many were on board with that.

PS.  Someone who hasn't been paying attention was seen griping here yesterday about the 'additional' war funding.  Remember that the 2009 budget was NOT President Obama's budget.  It was the one still in committee from the last session.  That is what is being discussed this week.  Obama's budget INCLUDES the costs of the two wars.  So let's keep it real, folks.  More stimulus funds were approved on BUSH than under Obama.
Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! The party of no has got to go!! Speaking of sinking things for our nation! The "Gross Odd People" (GOP), and the "Really Not Competent" (RNC) have managed to sink the following. Politically, the GOP has sunk our politcal reputation around the world. Ethically, the GOP has tried to legalize torture by the use of legal "double-talk." Economically, the GOP has sunk our economy into our deepest recession/depression in 70 years. The GOP has sunk our military capabilities by starting an illegal war for profit in Iraq. Socially, the GOP has used racial hatred to "stir-up" anxiety amongst our fellow citizens. Legally, the GOP Government under Bush-Cheney broke the law, undermined the US Constitution, and our Bill of Rights. The only party sinking here politically is the GOP! This GOP chairman is off his medications, or just mentally ill!!
If you want to help the economy in Fl, thats easy.

Go buy a house and pay 05 prices.

No one needs a politican.
its scary
"former banker Alex Sink"

Now that she destroyed her bank its time to move on the the state.

Im sure ACORN will use some of the illegal money Obie gave them to help her create voters.

Looks like Chicago Politics is coming to Florida

Pay to Play the Obama Way
Pay to Play the Burris Way
Pay to Play the Jackson Jr. Way
Pay to Play the Blago Way
Pay to Play the Acorn Way
Pay to Play the Sink Way
Go Alex - Lord knows it couldn't get much worse than the lack of leadership Florida has had in the past.  GOP go away!  You have ruined enough things already.
Sink is the clear favorite to win against any Republican.

Crooked Sink (Sent Wednesday, May 13, 2009 2:02 PM)

don't you people get tired of repeating the same debunked myths?  Go outside and play, its a beautiful day today!
As a Tampa resident, I confess I don't know much about Sink, but I do know that McCollum is a proven loser at the polls.  He couldn't make it to higher office -- he's been defeated for Senator twice -- and AG was his consolation prize.  Anyway, I don't think the average Floridian is in the mood for a right wing guy just now.
I'll admit that I haven't been following the 2010 Governor's race as closely as I should, but if Adam Putnam is still running, Sink will have a tough race on her hands.
Alex Sink is the one who kept warning the legislature not to put the state's retirement funds in too many Wall Street financial institutions; she's the one that warned that Wall Street thugs weren't being regulated and warned there was too much monkey-business going on. The comment out of the Florida GO-Nopers is nothing more than a baselss screed from the Florida branch of the GOP.  I ought to know. I was a legislative assistant in the Florida Legislature for 10 years and saw her work up close.  Ms. Sink is a smart, articulate woman whom the Gutless Ones Party will find a difficult target to hit!!!!
I live in Florida.  I like Alex Sink.  I don't know if she can win in this State....actually, I don't know if Charlie Crist can win the Senate in this state. My boss and I were just discussing all of this and we both agree it's going to be Messy.
Just remember to HAND DELIVER your Florida ballots to bypass the corrupt poll system in the Bananna Republic!
