From NBC's Alicia Jennings
At his daily briefing, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor will go up to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for meetings with Sens. Harry Reid (D), Pat Leahy (D), and Jeff Sessions (R). He also said the White House hopes she will meet with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R), but are working through scheduling issues.

"We are hopeful other visits can be scheduled for that Tuesday and throughout the week," Gibbs said.

Her questionnaire will go up to the Senate "at some point next week."

Did anyone else think Hardball's number (600) for laughs Gibb's has received was funny?

Sotomayor should be an easy confirmation, I have not quite figured out why Repubs are so insistent in shooting each other on this one, is this really THE hill they want to 'die' on?  Bizarre, yet a never ending source of amusement.
I hope they work it out with their collective schedules to avoid some scandal tabloid topics.
The sooner this is over the sooner these redundant arguments will cease.
Thanks FR for another week of topics and to all you posters who at the very least make an amusing read.
comments appear to be 'slowed' up as Gross and Montanaro film their next installment of The Week Ahead.  Keep up the laughter guys.  Last week's dance moves were hysterical!  (reminded me a little of Elaine, from Seinfeld - tee hee)
The article on Sotomayor by Sharon Theimer is a disgrace. It simply parrots the wingnuts' attack on her based on taking a quote out of context in which she said that a Latina could judge more wisely than a white man -- IN CASES REGARDING ETHNIC OR GENDER BIAS.  Sotomaory made a completely legitimate observation.

Theimer also calls Gingrich's use of the word "racist" as "blunt." Just "blunt"??? If Sotomayor or any other minority person had tossed out that incendiary word with such careless viciousness, Theimer and the other corporate media hacks would be screaming about how _irresponsible_ and hurtful it was. But it still looks like white men like Gingrich are still given privileges to use hateful language by the corporate media not extended to minorities.

1. The innocent citizens of Iraq.
2. Saddam Hussein
3. Victims of the Anthrax
4. Service Men and Women used to fight in a war that was a person vendetta against Saddam Hussein, for the threat against father. If it's a lie, he said so himself.

Now B, meet Ms. Anita the Queen B....have a won-der-ful weekend.
Unbelievable-<SNBO reports on Obama getiing a cheeseburger, but not this:

from Taylor Marsh

Pentagon and Administration Denial of Explicit Photos Become the Issue

The Daily Beast has confirmed that the photographs of abuses at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison, which President Obama, in a reversal, decided not to release, depict sexually explicit acts, including a uniformed soldier receiving oral sex from a female prisoner, a government contractor engaged in an act of sodomy with a male prisoner and scenes of forced masturbation, forced exhibition, and penetration involving phosphorous sticks and brooms. …

The Obama administration, through Robert Gibbs, joined the Pentagon attacks against the Telegraph, making an awful mistake, unless you think Taguba and Horton’s sources are all lying.
Mr. Gibbs better be certain of his facts, because otherwise his credibility will lie in shreds on the White House briefing floor.
Through their active denials, again, unless a lot of people are lying, Pres. Obama has decided to take this debacle on himself, sharing it with George W. Bush, Rumsfeld and the whole Cheney gang. When the Pentagon came out with their blistering denial that the description of the photos offered in the Telegraph were accurate, at the same time Robert Gibbs stepped up too, this sorry spectacle became nothing less than an official, very badly orchestrated Administration cover up

Sen. Sessions was an admirer of the KKK
(before he found out that some smoked dope)

Does he also admire La Raza ?

Isn't it funny that the GOP is now concerned about racism ?
After ignoring Jesse Helms, Trent Lott, David Duke and Strom Thurmond ??

Maybe she was an Immigrant !!!

'...The defendant uttered, "[N*****]," as he delivered a karate chop to [complainant's] head...'

From Huffington Post:

'...Executive Director Of Tancredo's PAC Guilty Of "Karate Chop" Assault On African-American Woman

3 hours and 2 minutes ago by Matt Finkelstein

It's evident Tancredo is only concerned about racism when it furthers his bigoted agenda.

Yesterday, former Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo attacked Judge Sonia Sotomayor for being a member of the National Council of La Raza, absurdly likening the civil rights organization to "a Latino KKK without the hoods or nooses."

Tancredo's outlandish cries of racism are difficult to take seriously considering his own well-documented bigotry. However, the conservative blog Little Green Footballs has flagged a lesser known story demonstrating Tancredo's embrace of intolerance. Apparently, the executive director of Tancredo's anti-immigrant Team America PAC (also executive director of Pat Buchanan's group, The American Cause) pled guilty to "verbally and physically assaulting a black woman" and will be sentenced in July. According to the Factual Proffer from the case:

Had this case gone to trial, the Government's evidence would have shown beyond a reasonable doubt the following facts:

On July 7, 2007 at approximately 7:15 p.m., at Jefferson and M Street, Northwest, in Washington, D.C., defendant was walking down the street when he encountered the complainant, Ms. [Redacted], who is African-American. The defendant uttered, "[N*****]," as he delivered a karate chop to [complainant's] head. Ms. [Redacted]'s [redacted] attempted to detain defendant, but defendant was able to escape. Ultimately, the defendant was stopped and arrested by Secret Service officers.

The defendant, Marcus Epstein, is still featured prominently on Team America's website nearly two years after the crime. So, it's evident Tancredo is only "concerned" about racism when it furthers his bigoted agenda. (Though there is absolutely nothing racist about Sotomayor or La Raza.)...'

Team Tancredo.... WORKING FOR YOU !!!
greenfun:
I suspected as much about the abuse. Who in the hell do you think that want to see that? It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what was contained in those photos.

You can be absolutely certain that it would cause great danger to our service men, women and this country, hell I'm angry now just knowing what I suspected is true...I am sick ....
Anita - No, it's Louisiana. So every president that declares war is personally responsible for the deaths of the troops, the enimies, and any collateral damage that may occur? Anthrax.... are you that stupid or just hate Bush that much? I am not a republican, but I assumed you would think so. Most of far left liberals want to piegon hole everyone they don't agree into that catagory. I don't follow your posts they just draw attention for being so rediulously idiotic!

A karate chop?  Is Tancredo's PAC being run by Chuck Norris???

This would be hilarious if it wasn't so disturbing.
