Obama look-alike sparks laughs

GIZA, Egypt -- The pyramids outside of Cairo boast tombs, camels and relics thousands of years old.

What about an image reminiscent of the 44th president?

The great pyramid is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and during a brief stop here Thursday after delivering a major speech aimed at Muslims around the world, President Obama spotted another notable sight: a hieroglyphic that showed the face of a man with big ears.

Obama entered the tomb and saw it right away.

"That looks like me!" he said. "Look at those ears!"

Dr. Zahi Hawass, the secretary general of the supreme council of antiquities -- who played tour guide to Obama and his entourage -- went on to explain to the president, his Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and others the history of the tomb of Kar, who was a priest, a scholar and a judge.

A few moments later, when aides Rahm Emanuel, Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod and Reggie Love descended into the tomb, Obama went back over and showed them the big-eared image, sparking laughs.

Must admit that I enjoy Pres Obama's self-deprecating sense of humor. No doubt the usual critics will make their displeasure known but it would be nice if they would just admit that it is funny.

Demonstrating his mastery of politics, President Obama knows the value of self deprecation. He is never afraid to make himself the butt of humor to soften up his audience. He also shows a modest side, although it is difficult to believe this is real with all his success and accomplishments.
One thing that bothers me about you Mr. President - When you cock your head up, your chin juts out, making you look a bit like Mussolini. Maybe if you stick your tongue out when you do this, we can just pretend you are saying, "nah, nah, na, nah, Nah," to your detractors.

One thing we have to love about President Obama is that he is self deprecating and can poke a little fun at himself. The best thing about his big ears is that he listens to other people and other viewpoints, so unlike George the Chickenhearted who only listened to imaginary god voices in his head.

Hey Clare, KC - Sorry if my harsh words about Isreal offended you but that's my take on why they've pissed off their neighbors for over 2,000 years. I rooted for them in 1967 and 1973 and figured their desire for a buffer zone was valid when considering conventional warfare. Since the 80's I've seen them become more and more like their former nazi oppressors of WW2 as they have treated the Palestinians with utter disdain. Now that the Muslim radicals have resorted to unconventional warfare the whole Isreali lebensraum buffer zone concept does not keep them safer, quite the opposite as those who have had their lands taken away from them have a valid argument for getting it back. Jews bravely fought and died for both sides in WW1 and yet were persecuted by both sides, think about why that happened. Keep up your great comments!

I love a sense of humor espcially when one makes fun of oneself. This way no one can claim jokes about some group or other.

I am so happy to have a president that actually LISTENS to others points of view instead of one who is a "decider" based on a never changing narrow viewpoint no matter what facts are brought to light.

how about alittle, just alittle coverage of things that actually matter to people, such as confiscatory tax rates, policies that essentially force businesses to lay off or not hire new employees, or the outright theft of capital from GM/Chrysler bondholders who have always had first right of recovery in bankruptcy? Who are GM and Chrysler bondholders you might ask? You and me, anyone who has 401k/403b/IRAs. Great job.

This guy gets away with the crap Bush didnt, he is no damn different than Bush. We are still in two wars that have no end in sight.... When is the media going to get a clue that this man is in LOVE with himself. It is all about him. The economy stinks, he has nationalized the auto industry and the finance industry. He is about to DESTROY the medical system and impose the largest tax increase in recent memory and all he can do is talk about himself. When he was speaking on the nationalization of GM, it was all about him. Makes me want to puke.

America is great. Mainly because we are free - at least we used to be. Now, we have a POTUS that is so in love with himself that he can't stop finding images of himself, even on the walls of one of the oldest standing monuments in the WORLD.

And anybody who has been in politics for any time would know that people fainting in the crowd during a campaign is a result of standing for long periods in the heat. Not about seeing the Messiah. Obama thinks the people were fainting becuase of him.
