Ruth Bader Ginsburg praises Sotomayor

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg expressed her support last weekend for Judge Sonia Sotomayor.

At a conference of federal judges, she said: "As much as I will miss Justice Souter's company, I was cheered" by the nomination and added that Sotomayor would bring "a wealth of experience in the law and in life."

"I am glad no longer to be the lone woman on the Court, and look forward to a new colleague well equipped to handle the challenges our work presents," Ginsburg said.

It's unusual -- but not unprecedented -- for a sitting justice to express support for a Supreme Court nominee.

What's that old saying..don't count your chickens?

First Read: I cannot remember a sitting Judge showing this kind of support. Can you refresh my memory?

I want to believe Justice Ginsburg will remain healthy, but it is likely that President Obama's second and third choice is also a woman. Perhaps there should be 4 or 5 women on the SCOTUS.

Go Ruth, Go Ruth!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ehh, is this uncool, or what? When was the last time a sitting member of the Supreme Court openly lobbied for a nominee?

Just think what would have happened if Clarence Thomas or Anthony Scalia lobbied for John Roberts. The liberal media would have went crazy(ier).
