First thoughts: Financial regulations

*** Financial regulations: In an effort to prevent another collapse of the financial industry, President Obama -- joined by Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, consumer and industry groups, and members of Congress -- will be unveiling a series of new regulations at 12:50 pm ET. A few things to mention: Nothing the administration announces today will be law; it will need to get through Congress. Also, there isn't the streamlining some would like to see, but administration officials tell us it's hard enough to add agencies and tinker with existing ones. Eliminating one or more may be impossible in this Senate (think of the turf battles). Finally, the collective powers of the Fed chair, Treasury secretary, and FDIC chair are greatly enhanced. And, politically, this is a big victory for the FDIC’s Sheila Baer, who wanted to see her agency's power expanded -- not a rival agency created. By the way, here's a question for those following the administration’s policies regarding the economic crisis: Will the toxic-asset program ever be used?

Video: As Obama looks to strengthen the government’s authority over financial institutions, Dr. Christina Romer, chairwoman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, joins the Morning Joe gang to shed some light on the proposal.

*** Will a memo quiet his critics? Also today, at 5:45 pm ET, Obama signs a presidential memo granting same-sex benefits to federal workers. This move, however, seems mostly about placating gay-rights advocates who have been angered by 1) the administration’s hesitance in overturning “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”; 2) its brief defending the Defense of Marriage Act, which Obama has promised to repeal; and 3) Obama’s invitation of Rev. Rick Warren to deliver the prayer at the inauguration. In fact, some wealthy gay supporters of Obama have become so mad that they’re taking their names off an upcoming Biden fundraiser. Of course, the Obama White House has been very reluctant to get involved in cultural issues, and it seems intent on avoiding all the early mistakes Bill Clinton made (like “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”). Yet today’s presidential memo is a reactive attempt to quell the anger coming from the gay community. But even the memo doesn’t seem to go far enough for gay-rights advocates. For one thing, as the New York Times notes, the benefits for same-sex couples won’t be extended to health care.

Video: Rachel Maddow talks with NBC News chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd about reports that President Obama is expected to extend benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees.

*** Obama’s additional comments on Iran: In his interview with CNBC’s John Harwood yesterday, Obama clarified his administration’s response to the protests and violence in Iran. First, he made an effort to note that there is not THAT big of a difference between Ahmadinejad and Mousavi. “Either way, we were going to be dealing with an Iranian regime that has historically been hostile to the United States, that has caused some problems in the neighborhood and is pursuing nuclear weapons… And that would be true whoever came out on top in this election.” Obama also argued that it was important for the U.S. to not been seen as “meddling” in Iran’s election. “The easiest way for reactionary forces inside Iran to crush reformers is to say it's the U.S. that is encouraging those reformers. So what I've said is, ‘Look, it's up to the Iranian people to make a decision. We are not meddling.' And, you know, ultimately the question that the leadership in Iran has to answer is their own credibility in the eyes of the Iranian people. And when you've got 100,000 people who are out on the streets peacefully protesting, and they're having to be scattered through violence and gunshots, what that tells me is the Iranian people are not convinced of the legitimacy of the election.”

Video: As protests continue in Iran over the presidential election, President Obama is keeping his comments measured, and subtle. Is Obama making the right response in this situation? Rachel Maddow is joined by Trita Parsi, President of the National Iranian American Council.

*** Latest in health care: Turning to the debate over health care, the AP reports that a cost estimate for the Senate Finance Committee’s health-care plan came out yesterday: $1.6 trillion. The committee was supposed to unveil its legislation today. “But Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., said that wouldn't happen and the bill would come out ‘when it's ready’ -- later this week or next. The Finance Committee was supposed to start voting next week. Meanwhile, the Bipartisan Policy Center is holding a discussion at noon in DC on the subject of health-care with Tom Daschle, Bob Dole, and Howard Baker. They will introduce a $1.2 trillion health-care plan that will be paid for through tax increases and spending cuts.

*** Our new NBC/WSJ poll: So how are Americans viewing health-care reform? What are their thoughts about Obama, Congress, Sotomayor, and the auto industry? And how concerned are they by the growing deficit and the federal government’s intervention in GM and Chrysler? Be sure to tune into Nightly News, or click onto MSNBC.com, beginning at 6:30 pm ET for the answers to these questions in our new NBC/WSJ poll.

*** What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas: Washington hadn’t had a sex scandal in a while. But that changed yesterday when Nevada Sen. John Ensign (R) -- who had participated in Promise Keepers and defended the sanctity of marriage on the Senate floor -- admitted to having an affair with a former campaign aide whose husband also worked in Ensign’s Senate office. In his statement last night, Ensign said he was committed to remaining in office and apologized to wife and family. "I am truly blessed to have a wife who has forgiven me,” he said. “We sought counseling last year and have built a stronger marriage -- stronger than ever.” The news that Ensign announced the affair because the other couple was allegedly extorting him makes the story catnip for cable...

*** The political ramifications: Politically, Ensign is probably OK in Nevada (he’s up for re-election in 2012), but his national ambitions are toast (he recently gave a speech in Iowa). What about his leadership post in the Senate? Will he step down from there? Our guess is yes. The Ensign affair is a distraction for the GOP, but don't assume it's some long-term stain on the party. There are enough of these stories to go around for both parties, although Republicans usually pay a higher price because of their emphasis on “family values” (see above). The only immediate political impact may be in Nevada, as Republicans may find it harder to recruit a candidate to run against Harry Reid next year, since Ensign won't be an asset for that candidate. Also, Ensign and Gov. Jim Gibbons as a pair make things difficult for the Nevada GOP in general. And just askin’, but what does it say about the states of Nevada and Louisiana that they sport senators who have acknowledged affairs?

Famous Presidental Quotes:

JFK: And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.

LBJ: Freedom is not enough.

Reagan: Tear Down this wall!

Bush I: We are a nation of communities... a brilliant diversity spread like stars, like a thousand points of light in a broad and peaceful sky.

Bush II: We must defeat the Axis of Evil.

Obama: I don't like to meddle.
No where to run to baby… no where to hide…

Yeah I’m talking to you Senator Ensign!  Nice to see your true colors aren’t fading… and you’re as BIG of a hypocrite as the rest of the GEENOPEE!  Of course you weren’t coming forward about your little ‘trysts’ because it was the ‘right’ thing to do’ seems you picked the wrong woman to fwith and she now wants a ‘piece’ of you and your $$$!  Boy old boy… damn those good old ‘FAMILY VALUES’! They getcha every time!

As for the other GEENOPEE piece of trash Silly Sarah – guess her supporters are too broke from repeatedly ponying up to her legal defense FUNDS (yeah plural) to make the trip to NY to protest Letterman on behalf of Klondike Barbie and her dysfunctional klan of misfits… WOW a whole 15 protesters and 35 members of the media.

Her acceptance of Letterman’s apology was nothing more than another ‘word salad’ out of her ‘pitbull piehole’ this broad would sell her children’s soul to the Devil himself if she was guaranteed a VOTE!

And to NBC/MSNBC – WHAT are you doing to us?  Get Gotcha Gregory off the Today Show NOW!  It’s bad enough I can’t watch MTP anymore – but… to now have to choose between the Today Show or Morning Joke… what’s a girl to do!

Old Dancing David needs to go… every time I see or hear the guy I’m reminded of him doing the Fox Trot with old Turd Blossom! Blech!

Kudos to my man Lawrence O’ – Excellent job as usual on Hardball last night!
*** Financial regulations:Nothing the administration announces today will be law; it will need to get through Congress.

So what Obama says today is meaningless, just like his presidency.
As a political junky I sometimes want to fast-forward time to learn the outcome of a particular situation.  So it is with Iran.  I’m impressed with most news channels for finding “experts” on Iranian culture.  Unfortunately, no one agrees on how this story will play out.

I am impressed with the Iranian reformers.  They are smart, know how to use technology, and are making careful moves.  The Ayatollah is reacting instead of being proactive.  It would be a mistake for Khameni to bring out the tanks, as was done in China.  The Ayatollah may want to find compromise, but, I’m not sure the reformers will accept compromise.  They want a new, monitored election. That may be a reasonable position and although a bitter pill for the government to swallow, but it may avert a rebellion.
*** Will a memo quiet his critics? Also today, at 5:45 pm ET, Obama signs a presidential memo granting same-sex benefits to federal workers. This move, however, seems mostly about placating gay-rights advocates

Again, more meaningless words from The Obama.

Will a memo quiet his critics? No. But it's a start.

Profiles in Courage -

Senator Richard Russell, Jr. warned President Johnson that his strong support for the civil rights bill “will not only cost you the South, it will cost you the election.”

LBJ knew what he was up against because he knew that either (1) elected officials back then were afraid to pass it for fear of not being re- elected, and/or (2) many elected officials back then were in fact racists. LBJ went full speed ahead anyway. Why? Because like always, it was the right thing to do. And he pushed and pushed until he got it. When we are dealing with issues such as equality, it is not important what elected officials feel personally. Only one thing is important.

What life is like for our own fellow American citizens who are not offered the same equality that the rest of us take for granted. LBJ knew this.

Gay marriage should be legal simply because it's the right thing. This is why we have a government. Equality for all should be their number one concern and responsibility. It’s why we voted for President Obama.

I responded to his email asking for my support for healthcare. He has my support. This is so important. And another reason why he won the election.
___________
After listening to years of threats towards Iran from the neocons and threats from Israel; after listening to Ahmadinejad for years state that there was no holocaust, finally we are hearing from the Iranians themselves. A member of the axis of evil? No more. The thrill of victory for the Iranians means the thrill of defeat for the neocons here @ home. The neocons could learn a few things from citizens around the world if they bothered to listen.

My own two cents -  the Iranians deserve a re-vote, not a recount. They were lied to about the results of the first election. This should be unacceptable and they deserve the right to vote again.
I hope his first step is not to trash the misstress. Oh he did...

Take resposibility for your own actions.  How much of a woman hater do you have to be to trash her for the action you took to potentially destroy two marriages.

Republicans cheating on thier wives... I don't believe it...

Family Values ...
FR Healdline: cost estimate for the Senate Finance Committee’s health-care plan came out yesterday: $1.6 trillion

$16T?! Wow. And this the Senate saying so? As a fudge factor, that number needs to be at least doubled because all the assumptions being made are sunny day projections.

$1.6T - Did anyone in the Senate gave any idea on how they intend to pay for it?
A few things to mention: Nothing the administration announces today will be law; it will need to get through Congress
<><><><<>,<><><><<>,<><><><<>,
It should also be noted…  The Party of No will use scare tactics and fear-mongering.
Democrats Kill Pelosi Investigation
Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, argued a second time Tuesday that the House should appoint a special panel to investigate what Speaker Nancy Pelosi knew of alleged torture techniques and whether the CIA lied to her as she claimed. But Bishop's resolution calling for a probe -- similar to one he tried in May -- failed on a strictly party-line vote of 247-171.

I see that Transparency thing is a one way street.
Just more lies from the Blago, Burris, Pelosi Party of lies!

COVERUP !!!
I like how you say the Republicans are the "family values" party. What are the Democrats? The "anti family values" party? Oh, wait, they are.
Carrie Prejean - hot
Sarah Palin - hot
Jeri Thompson - hot

Michelle Obama - not
Hillary Clinton - not
Nancy Pelosi - not

Some ugly ducklings in the Dem camp.

Still waiting patiently for someone to explain to me:

- Why is it so essential that corporations be allowed to continue rationing access to affordable healthcare for a profit?

- If "the government" is so bad, why are Republicans always trying to export it to other countries?

- What has Dick Cheney EVER DONE for this country?

Don't ask, don't tell is the least of the problems..

10% unemployment..the economy in the crapper, bankruptcy, inflation's ugly head on the rise, war debts... healthcare breaking the bank...H1N1..

Get real...we need jobs jobs jobs and more jobs..
Less czar managers to screw things up too...
RE: Sen. Ensign:

A couple things bother me about this revelation.  First, his behavior had the potential to destroy not only his own marriage, but also the relationship (marriage?) or the woman he was sleeping with.  Pretty despicable in my view.

And the other thing - promise keepers, defending marriage...just more hypocrisy...and no, I'm not saying that this comes only from Republicans.  I learned long ago that 99% of what comes out of politicians' mouths should not be trusted
As far as I'm concerned, Gibbons can't go away soon enough.  Since we have lived here, he hasn't done squat.  Even one of the republicans in congress said he didn't think Gibbons would be re-elected.  As for Ensign, I will admit he probably could of had a chance, now, don't think so.  I hope everyone on here today is going to go and bring up all the cheater politicians.  As L.O'D said yesterday on Hardball, Clinton made it easier for people to accept this kind of behavior, which is sad!  I guess if people want to screw up their careers with having affairs then they have to live with the consequences!!!
FR: And just askin’, but what does it say about the states of Nevada and Louisiana that they sport senators who have acknowledged affairs?

Don't forget Illinois where we get a parade of governors going to the federal pen, two corrupt Senators, one that buys his seat, the other that cashes out his stock last fall after meeting with the Federal Reserve and see a very gloomy outlook for stocks.
Regarding the gay/lesbian community, I'm empathetic to their grievances and also agree that "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" should be overturned. However, I don't understand why they are angry so quickly when the President is trying to keep our country from going totally down the tubes, trying to fight two wars, trying to keep the Dems focused on healthcare reform, North Korea, Iran, and a myriad of other important agenda items.

Sure, I have a few pet projects that the President could be working on, but sometimes, it's not all about what's happening in my back yard. I wish the Gay community would give the President more time to do what he said he would do about DADT. In the meantime, he is showing that he hasn't forgotten the group by signing the memo giving benefits to same sex partners in the federal government.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and our President is only human, despite the Divinity rumors.
BJ, CA - Get real...we need jobs jobs jobs and more jobs..

Done, and done! Didn't you hear Obama promised 600,000 jobs this summer? Try to keep up.
Health Care Reform:

Medicare was enacted under LBJ’s administration and since its enactment there hasn’t been a president that has sought to over haul the system. Although there have been many Republican politicians that have used the program as a tool for elections and scare tactics to seniors none have sought to overhaul it.

The scare tactics that are being used now to deter HCR are baseless and irresponsible. There are certain physicians in politics that have voiced incorrect opinions (Price) regarding HCR because he thinks that his prior experiences as a “surgeon” gives him first hand knowledge in this area and he would be more convincing to their base supporters, when in essence it actually brings into question to me is preference to politics verses medicine. Why aren’t you still practicing if you were dedicated to healing?

A vast majority of physicians have benefited from Medicare over the years through billing and surgical services charges. There is one thing that I agree with and I’ve opinioned it before. There must be oversight in any system that we get.

Oversight will ease the burden of the Medicare system and stop wasteful spending of the new system and it should be placed in a strict law governing its oversight. One that can’t be changed by changes in Administrations.

The oversight should be in the form of federally trained employees in each state that cover small territories and monitor facilities and physicians offices for fraud and abuse. This will also create jobs.

Medical malpractice insurance-- the high cost of medical insurance for patients and the cost of student loan payments have caused medical students second guessing their professions. Some doctors pay $7500, per month and higher for malpractice insurance along with staff salaries. The AMA (American Medical Association) must be vigilant in its efforts to assist the administration with viable support of efforts to save their dieing professions.

It goes back to the insurance companies. Who insures physicians for malpractice insurance? Insurance companies do, it back to insurance and rates.

The nay Sayers must understand that we cannot continue on the course we are currently on. The scare tactics taunting socialist government to socialized medicine were used many years ago and it didn’t succeed then.

Physicians have been in bed with drug companies for years. The kick back on prescription medications is disgusting to say the least and certain medications prescribed are harmful to patients.  There is definitely a two fold issue here that needs close scrutiny.

For those that aren’t familiar with billing…hospital charges for surgeries, physician charges and anesthesia charges are different.

How many of you have had surgeries or hospital visits that didn’t have to pay because you’ve met your deductible; yet when you receive a statement of charges you want to faint once you see how much your visit cost?

Did the medical care you received justify the payment the hospital received, or physician received? Think of those that have no coverage, imagine how they feel when they receive a “medical bill” that they can’t afford to pay. There are millions of Americans that face this issue daily.

My sister just had a weeks stay in the hospital; her bill would have been $100,000 dollars, however she had medical insurance. What if she didn’t have it?  Health Care Reform Now!
Many scholars say they don't think Obama needed to file a brief to defend DOMA, as he said he had to until DOMA is removed through legislation. Joe Solmonese 'pres of Human Rights Campaign' said Obama should send congress a bill to lift the federal marrige law Now.  David Nixner, a former adviser to pres Clinton, said the brief Obama sent to defend DOMA was a sickening document, which compared gay unions to incestuous ones and that of an underage girl.  The DNC is having a fundraiser June 25, featuring VP Biden, and the gay donors, outraged by the legal brief, are withdrawing their support from the event.

what about Kucinich's wife?  it still ceases to amaze me how he landed a woman like that!
Wait...wasn't Ensign the one telling everyone else that they had to resign when they went looking for entertainment away from marriage? I guess we should be hearing that he will be resigning soon.
Ensign: Just wondering if Senator Ensigns wife and kids will be dragged into the drama? We heard about Edwards and company for weeks at a time. Now that Ensign has apologized because he was being threatened, I guess it's ok!?

And yet the current President is happily married, with two very well behaved and intelligent children...sounds like a better example of family values than the stuff coming from the Republicans on tv at the moment (I'm looking at you, Sen. Ensign)

It would be even more meaningless if people  like you didn't chirp these types of attacks. At least President Obama is trying and is not selling our government to outside war companies. Also it could be more meaningful if your would support your country and president.

Corporate Woods,

You mean as meaningless as the last 8 years?  I doubt it.  Another "Big Business" type of GOP'er, everything for the rich.   No surprise there.
Oh please mr. ensign, could we hear more of your thoughts on how gay marriage will weaken traditional marriage.  Hypocrit.
$1.6T - Did anyone in the Senate gave any idea on how they intend to pay for it?  Payoff

Payoff did your boy Bush aver pay for anything, except  to Blackwater.
FR "the benefits for same-sex couples won’t be extended to health care."
The above is whay there is a debate. The moral issue's surrounding gay marriage are just a rally cry.
It is all about the medical expense and the possibility, that a gay couple might have aids. Aids is a costly illness to treat no manner who has it.

Bush II: We must defeat the Axis of Evil.
Pidge Seven (Sent Wednesday, June 17, 2009 9:19 AM)

Funny, when I think of Bush II, two things comes to mind: "misunderestimate" and the image of him reading a childrens book while planes crashed into buildings in NYC
Is Pelosi a liar?
That's so funny how President Obama is going to sign a Presidential Memo allowing same sex marriage benefits to federal workers, thus doing it on a national scale.  I'm sure the evangelical christian lunatic fringe will get all lathered up about this new development as they see their bigotted movement go down the tubes.  Finally Obama is showing some backbone.

President Obama is taking the right tone in talking about what's going on in Iran.  The people of Iran can be thankful that we don't have Bomb Bomb McNasty or the Wasilla Hillbilly in the White House making matters worse by trying to link the protesters of the election with the USA.  Nope we need to keep mum officially but unofficially I think all Americans are behind the election protesters and against hotheaded Ahmadinejad.

Nothing could be finer than seeing that jerky boy Ensign's presidential ambitions go up in smoke.  So wonderful to see one of the defenders of marriage be such a hypocrit as he fooled around with another married woman.  What a jerk this clown is to fool around with a woman whose husband worked for him.  Just shows what kind of false friend he is.

Impeach Ensign Now!

Pidge 7: Lest you forget, that Axis of Evil that GWG says must be defeated is not. North Korea and Iran, members of the Axis of Evil, are still causing problems for the entire world. President Obama has brilliantly stayed out of the Iranian election chaos because it will be people like you tearing him apart for meddling where he doesn't belong. There's no pleasing you GOP'ers.
Repeal DOMA, as promised...
Pass ENDA, as promised...
Sign Matthew Sheppard Act, as promised...
Repeal DADT, as promised...

Sorry, Obama, but YOU yourself made these promises, and YOU yourself told McCain the American President has to be able to handle a number of different things at once...so the current economic crisis, and the problems coming from Iran and North Korea, are not viable excuses for continuing to push one of your key supportive groups under the bus!

‘…CIA told Zubaydah they mistook him for a high-level al Qaeda operative.

He WASN'T an al-Queda MASTERMIND !!!

From ThinkProgress..org:

According to new transcripts from of a 2007 Combatant Status Review Tribunal held at Guantanamo Bay , detainee Abu Zubaydah said that his CIA captors told him after he was subjected to torture that “they had mistakenly thought he was the No. 3 man in the organization’s hierarchy and a partner of Osama bin Laden.” “They told me, ‘Sorry, we discover that you are not Number 3, not a partner, not even a fighter,’” Zubaydah said. Zubaydah, who was subjected to waterboarding 83 times in one month, also said that he nearly died in prison:

Abu Zubaida, a nom de guerre for Zayn al-Abidin Muhammed Hussein, told the 2007 panel of military officers at the detention facility in Cuba that “doctors told me that I nearly died four times” and that he endured “months of suffering and torture” on the false premise that he was an al-Qaeda leader.

Despite President Bush’s rhetoric, Zubaydah’s torture “foiled no plots,” a point that one of his interrogators confirmed during a congressional hearing last May. The portion of the 2007 Combatant Review Status hearing transcript in which Majid Khan — an alleged associate of Khalid Sheik Mohammad — discussed his treatment at CIA black sites was “blacked out for eight consecutive pages.”…’

Let's keep THIS COVERED UP First Read !!
No Story here, huh ??
Ensign is what the GOP stands for,do as I say not as I do. What a slime ball to preach family values, how much better a person they are compared to any other party. How many affairs over the years has this man had? Normally they don't get caught on the first affair.
Pat: You are right on target.  Iranians do deserve a fair election.  The price for Democracy is expensive.  Perhaps with continued pressure, they will get a monitored, fair election.

By the way, here's a question for those following the administration’s policies regarding the economic crisis: Will the toxic-asset program ever be used?
--------------------------------
I would hope that it wouldn't but whose to say? The next republican administration that takes office again can very well repeat Bush's administration ideas of a free market.

Even if another crisis doesn't happen again in my life time and if history repeats itself as is has been know to continue the cycle of stupidity of generation and greed; it would irresponsible of the President to not put law into place along with regulating the banks. Whose to speculate that the laws he is proposing won't cover the oversight of the market as we now know it and it's violatile effects on our economy.
Lots of important stuff to respond to but first a moment to comment on the Ensign affair.  Why do politicians on both sides of the aisle parade their spouses and children in front of us to tell us what wonderful people they are when they are leading double lives?  They espouse family values when they have none themselves.  I'm really tired of the hypocrisy but I guess we'll never see a politician saying "Here's my wife--we have an OK marriage but I've played around.  We both want the power too much to get a divorce."

"Mohammed Mossadegh"
Obama: First, he made an effort to note that there is not THAT big of a difference between Ahmadinejad and Mousavi.

Well except for the fact that Mousavi is much more moderate, represents the true leader of the Iranian people, and would be much easier to deal with then with the Holocaust denying Ahmadinejad. Other then that, yeah, they are the same.

Kidding aside, Obama is just so weak on taking a stand against Ahmadinejad.
Feisty Redhead - Yeah I’m talking to you Senator Ensign!

The world is collapsing, the economy is in shambles, but we see what the liberals take the bait on. Just go after the shiny things libs. What's next, a Sarah Palin update?
I wonder if Ensign blames his philandering on gay marriage. That's what he and the rest of the Republicons claim is undermining the "sanctity" of marriage.

Obama: Can't I just eat my waffle?
Today is a great day for our economy as President Obama unveils a new regulatory program designed to fix the mess the repugnant ones pushed through 10 years ago.  We need the government to protect us from the ripoff conartists of Wall Street who wrecked our economy with their junk bond scheme of derivatives.  Ofcourse the repugnant ones will whine that it will cost money, but the cost of regulation pales in comparison to when we're not regulated properly and we have a big financial meltdown like we had thanks to the bushwhacker and his evil elephant party of white criminal huggers.

While the cost of fixing our health care system will cost some money, let's not forget that the trillion dollar estimates are for 10 years, so that's about $100 billion or more a year.  A lot less than we're paying in interest to pay for the Reagan, Bush, Bush National Debt.  We need a public option to insure the 47 million that the private insurers have failed to cover.  The poor can't afford to pay the rates that the insurance companies want to charge so the public option is the only way to cover them so they don't end up costing us emergency room rates when they finally get really sick and have to go to a hospital.

Ed Schultz sure has made himself into a great tv commentator for us Liberals, he's our Liberal Preacher who gives us the Psycho Talk segment where he takes on the repugnant ones and their worst lies.  I am so glad how he supports having a public option for health care and defends the bluecollar manufacturing workers.  I'm glad he's getting more time on MSNBC tv before his show.

In Ed Schultz We Trust!
There is a lot going on right now. And I understand why the gay community feels left out.

Considering all of the infighting and right wing craziness going right now—I can understand why Prez Obama is not on this issue full time.

I think it need its own creation of space and focus. It is an important and worthwhile addition to our country's rights for all citizens. It should not be smashed in the middle of all of this economic, foreign policy, dead abortion doctor, hate crimes, and gitmo MESS!

Why not let Obama devote his careful thinking on this issue when he is not being pulled in so many directions.
