MoveOn pressures Hagan on public plan

From NBC's Mark Murray
Earlier this morning, we warned you to expect MoveOn and other progressive groups to press North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan, after she suggested she wasn't ready to support a public/government option to compete against private health insurers.

Well, right on cue, here's MoveOn:

Given recent comments showing that Sen. Hagan is not supporting the public health insurance option, MoveOn.org will be making clear that our 115,000 members in North Carolina -- many of whom volunteered for or donated to her campaign last year -- believe the public option is the heart of true health care reform. We'll run ads in North Carolina and D.C. asking that she advocate for the public option and support the President in truly solving the nation's health care crisis.

So what's the 'threat', that move on will help get Libby Dole back on the dole?

I agree that the public option is necessary; but do we need the strong arm tactics?

Given the disarray in the Dem camp, perhaps we do.
FR, you have four articles in the last 2 days where you posted zero comments.  Why is that?

I love the articles; but I really love the back and forth, too.
It seems like the liberals/progressives are jealous of the Republicans' regional party title.  Looks like the Dems want in on that action, huh?  You can be a big tent or powerless, your choice.
It is so gratifying to see a concerted effort to use the same tactics that have so successfully derailed good legislation to help push it along.

But I fear that rather than just pushing to get the targeted person to "move on" in the right direction, they need to put some facts out there to combat the false assertions that a public option will:

Eliminate people's choices of private plans
Put the government between you and your doctor
Raise the deficit

The right is doing a very effective job of spreading their mis-information campaign - as usual. It needs to be counteracted with facts!
MoveOn, the 21st century electronic equivalent of Brownshirts. Fall in line with the glorious leader or be beaten to a pulp. You Dems are pushing your luck.

Remember what happened to the Gang of Four in China!
So Moveon, and Moveon's liberal supporters, what are you going to do when you run out of people to tax?
Moveon members - people in the business of voting themselves a raise.
That's it. MoveOn.org is doing exactly what Obie used to do, and in some ways, is still doing it .... intimidation.

A threat against Sen. Kay Hagan basically says do what we want or you are history, vote wise.

ACORN, Obie, MoveOn, Madia Matters .... they're all the same. Strong-arming and intimidation.

These whack-job organizations are going to get spanked by the Republicans, one at a time.  That's code for "it's over."
Here's an idea . . .

It's painfully obvious from this health care reform debacle that most, if not all of our politicians are in the pocket of the very rich industries that fund their campaigns.  This has supplanted the voice of the people and we get crap legislation that has no teeth.  How do we get rid of this outsized influence by the very wealthy?

Wait for it . . .

Make it a law that all political contributions must be made anonymously.  Make it a jailable offense if the identity of a donor is revealed.

Whaddya all think?
Hagain won her seat running as a moderate with 2.2 million votes and a margin of 400,000 votes over Dole. Why should she listen to a nutbag group like Moveon with its 110,000 squirrel for brains members.

Well it appears that they've gotten our message and feeling what we're feeling. This is excellent. It's serving those that chose to be fence sitters notice that we aren't going to put up with their politics as usual...they can be gone next election if they don'y pass HCR.

Moveon org may not be the largest liberal group, but they sure are the dumbest.
Moveon is doing the real work for the Democratic Agenda

It's like the Club for Growth with Brains and Common Sense

If you haven't done so already, you might want to donate to them
A Great cause

Keep putting the PRESSURE on them

WHEN are you oing to take on Evan Bayh ??
Like Al Gore the Idiot son of a good Democratic leader
First Read: You WARNED us? I say: Right on, MoveOn! I'm with MoveOn all the way. There is NO REFORM without the PUBLIC OPTION>
Only complete morons support a public option, and reading through the liberals posting here, so goes your proof.
Dole won't have that seat again. I have no fear of that. Another smart rising star Democrat can have it if she listens to the click of dummies with no spines looking out for special interest.
Interesting how opponents of health care reform want it both ways.
A.  Government can't run anything well, so we don't want the public health care option((just look at our VA Hospitals!  Of course the lack of funding voted for by congress (or not) has NOTHING to do with this problem)).  B. The government public health care option will be so much better and cost effecient that it will drive those badly run private insurance companies right out of business. Here's an idea --- let's privatize health care and let Blackwater run it.  They have done such a terrific job in Iraq taking away all the jobs our inefficient ARMY (government run, of course) did, and doing it SOOOO much cheaper than the government ARMY could do it (that's what privatization is all about after all, the MONEY). We have brought the Iraqui people so many luxuries and jobs by letting Blackwater do the work.  They have so much good water, electricity, great buildings.  Let's let Chaney and Blackwater make more successes and let them handle health care, too.  Also, all the Republicans that think Chaney is a GOD, will be happy with our president 'cause Chaney will make MORE MONEY and he can be on TV more often, too because he will almost be as important as our president.   Ya Think???!!!

I suppose its easier to engage in juvenile ad hominem attacks rather than debate a public option on its merits...

Probably because Senator Hagan derived ~2.4 million dollars in campaign contributions as well as thousands of volunteer hours from liberal groups like Move On, Daily Kos, and Act Blue.

If she crosses the progressives on health care she can expect a well funded and staffed primary opponent in 2014.
