Sanford corrects the record -- again

From NBC's Mark Murray
Well, it looks like South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R) wasn't telling the whole truth at that press conference where he revealed his affair with an Argentine woman.

In an interview with the AP, Sanford

disclosed that met seven times with the woman -- more than he initially claimed. The governor "described five meetings with Maria Belen Chapur over the past year, including two romantic, multi-night stays with her in New York before they met there again intending to break up. He said he met her two other times -- their first meeting in 2001 at an open-air dance spot in Uruguay and a coffee date in New York in 2004 during the Republican National Convention. He said neither time was romantic."

More: "It was the first disclosure of any liaisons with Chapur in the United States and contradicted a public confession last week during which Sanford admitted to a total of five encounters over their eight-year relationship."

I really don't care about the affair so much.  I do care if he misappropriated taxpayer funds to travel for personal use.  I don't care if he pays the state back, because that's similar to a bank robber giving the money back after the fact - there was still a crime committed.

That was my conflict with the Bill Clinton impeachment as well, I don't care he got the hummer, but I did care that he perjured himself (or didn't depending on how you define sexual relations).

If he misapproriated state funds, he needs to resign or be impeached.  It's a damn shame because I believed in him 100% about his root canal economics policies of hurting now (pay down deficit) to be better off later.on.
Sanford keeps giving. He admits to crossing the line before with women other than his mistress, but never cheated. Are we suppose to feel better because he’s never cheated …just lusted after them…isn’t that the same according to his big BIBLE? Good grief! This man is a lunatic. A S-L-U-T!

Hope Maria used multi-layers of protection, otherwise she's at great risk of catching something worse than an STD from Sanford--sheer terminal reactionary stupidity.
This guy should be removed from office because of the way he left the country for 5 days without telling anyone where he was, he used taxpayer money to fund his trysts, he lied to the staffers, and he lied to the media in his press conference. This guy cannot be trusted because right now he is thinking with what is in his trousers rather than what is in his head. He is a liar and cannot be trusted.
Ed ~ That's precisely why she won't.  Sadly many women are raised to draw their own personal identity vicariously through the men in their lives.  At least in my experience, these are more often -- but not exclusively -- republican women.

First Read ~ When you say some of their meetings were "not romantic," you mean what ... ?  I guess you mean that meetings involving walks in the park, holding hands, and sitting together enjoying a sunset are no longer romantic.  Thanks for the dating tips.  I'll pass those along to my daughter.  Not.
If this is the kind of thing he wants publicized, well, I think he wants out.  He wants out of the governor's job, out of his marriage, and back to Argentina.

It's rather obvious right now isn't it?  He fell in love with this woman and he's doing everything he can to get out of his obligations here.
According to the republican Party, you can only commit adultery if you are a member of the "Godless" Democratic Party. If you hold "Christian values," your sins will immediately be forgiven, no matter who or how you have cheated.

As for military service, any connection to the aforementioned "Godless" party counteracts any awards of valor that were earned, according to the law of the "Swiftboaters." Multiple Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star don't count because when you came home, you ratted out the handful of crazies (I'd say the forebearers of present day neocons, but all of them were draft dodgers) who embarrassed this great country by killing women and children in Viet Nam.

Where is the left wing media while all of these injustices occur? Silent? Hiding? Non-existent? Or just conveniently ignored?

You question the intelligence of President Obama, yet you praise the common sense of the multi-school college education Palin has patch-worked together. Obama uses a teleprompter - BAD. Palin can't name her reading material - GOOD.

Your god, limprod blames the high cost of health care of physical fitness freaks. He somehow blames the affair of Mark Sanford on President Obama. Does anyone see a pattern, here? Every action of our CIC is questioned - to the point of undermining his authority, putting his life in danger and tarnishing his international image, things that would not be allowed against a sitting republican President. On top of this, you traitors will not be happy until another attack on our country can justify your actions.

Shame on you... You deserve Sarah Palin as your standard bearing in 2012. I would compare her to Barry Goldwater, but he was an honorable man.
Lies? : '...That's why this country needs to return to God.  Stop thinking political figures will be your saviour....'

RIGHT !!
It seems to work in Iran !!
THEY have Moral clarity !!

And I really liked the Spanish Inquisition !!

Rock me, Sexy Jesus !!
He's a politician for goodness sake - and someone expected him to be honest....ha!  That's a good
one......he's screwed more than one woman on the
side people - that's what politicians do - they
screw me and you......
Sanford's stuff is like Chinese water torture:

Drip.

Drip.

Drip.

Drip.
Nothing new - just another filthy, lying-ass repuke.
Bill Clinton can't be compare to what this clown did. Bill's down fall was his love of cigars and Monica didn't mind them much either. Bill didn't leave the country unattended either.
Seriously Sanford, take MJ's death as a blessing and keep yourself out of the news cycle.  The world already considers you to be a douchebag, now you seem intent on being viewed as a douchebag with a junior high mentality.  "We didn't reach home plate, so it's not sex, right?"

Yeesh.

And FR, I love your reporting, but today you resemble a tabloid rag more than a blog for politicos.

Do Not misunderstand me.....I certainly do NOT blame Mrs. Sanford for ANYTHING......

Trying to stay in a loveless and disrespectful relationship is folly to the highest degree!

I have two word that we should begin expecting in connection with this story: LOVE CHILD!

Anyone wanna put $$$ on this?

Congratulations to Al Franken, and the Democrats on their 60 seat majority in the Senate.
