GOP declares stimulus a 'failure'

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
The Republican National Committee declares the stimulus a "failure" and takes a shot at President Obama in a Web video, as it tries to capitalize on criticism that the stimulus hasn't done enough to stem the economic downfall.

The video declares the stimulus has "failed" and loops in a clip from an interview with Obama from Russia, in which Obama says there's nothing he would have done differently.

The video's title? "Nothing."

I am speechless - the GOP's are so far gone.  I don't even think words would even matter.

They obviously can't comprehend beyond their own stupidity.

Let them waste money on stupid untruths - we will save ours for the upcoming elections.

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA
You idiotic right wing tools!

What is your plan?

What would you have done differently?

Where is your 16 page budget with no numbers in it?

What did you do to stop this when it was all going down?

What are you doing now to help?......making a youtube video?

Arent you tired of making sweeping judgements only to be embarrased by facts?

I really am astounded by the Republicans/Republican leaning congress.  I can't imagine a more ignorant bunch of idiots ever existed.  Obama has been in office for what, now ~ 6 months.  It took GW Bush 8 years ~ or 96 months ~ to really screw things up.  And they're pounding on Obama after 6 months?  Unbelievable.  OMG ~ it takes four times that long to even get anything of substance out of committee up there in DC.  As has been said, this country isn't a "speed boat".  I think I;ve heard that one before.  It's going to take some time to get back to where we were.  And beyond.  But if they think griping about things as they are now is the answer, all I see is a bunch of spoilers who want to make as loud a noise as they can over ANYTHING.  Desperate drowning people usually do an awful lot of splashing before they finally accept their fate, too.
So what's their plan? Tax cuts? How do you expect such a big endeavor to be accomplished in just 6 months?. I don't get the Republicans. And please don't tell me that they have been left out of the loop. I don't think they ever came to the table. I believe that the GOP is invested in maintaining a level of fear and doom and gloom. Very sad.
Premature
So if/when the economy improves later this year as most economists are indicating, what are the republicans going to say? It recovered despite the stimulus being a failure? The only way they win is if the economy still hasn't recovered by the 2010 elections. No one seems to think that is going to be the case.

As far as nothing he would have done differently . . . well, it isn't like President Obama wrote the bill and signed it without having to get other votes. He asked for things and then he had to compromise and he got the best bill he could in a reasonable period of time. There isn't much he COULD have done differently.

Our President has ALWAYS said it was going to get worse before it got better, as have a consensus of economists. All indications appear that the worst of the free fall is behind us and things are slowly starting to turn around.

I do have to admit that the republican party is the party that is expert on the economic downfall. They created it with their guy bush!!!
We have been very careful to remain silent for the past six months, but now, fearing that all aspects of our economy and security are spiralling in free fall, it is time to admit that Obama does not have any concept as to rational, synoptic resolution to the myriad of current problems.  He most certainly is an empty suit beholden to those who refuse to enter the country legally, those who are able but refuse to work, and to those for whom the welfare estate is the only way of life.  We have served our Nation in peace and war, we have always paid our fair share of taxes without reservation, and we have contributed massively to the social good.  Nevertheless, this charlatan has finally run roughshod over all the principles of honesty, decency, and dedication in trashing our extended family.  Damn him, and damn what he represents.
I ask of FR and really all of the press - has John Boehner said even one positive thing since President Obama was elected?  Has he one suggestion of ways to fix our problems?  Why on earth do you continue to give this man time on your columns?  dont you realize that there is a good portion of America that only reads headlines, the headlines you give from Boehner on a daily basis are negative.  So the headline reading people think the economy and everything else is much worse than it is and act accordingly by not buying which keeps the economy from improving.  You people in the media deserve a lot of the blame for our current problems, no investigation when it was obvious the housing bubble was a bubble and wall street numbers were a sham; and always beating the drum of negativity when it comes to policies trying to fix our problems.  Is it that important to your corporate owners to keep America poor and broken?  I bet this doesnt get posted but i feel better typing it
Rabble Rowser Boehner needs to shut up!

He is THE failure.

It only been 6  months already.

I trust President Obama to get us out of this mess that Boehner and his buddies got us into!

The same Party that declared "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq!...and We're Winning.....and We Will be Greeted as Liberators.......

STOP IT REPUKES, folks with connected brain cells do not listen to you!
What a complete joke. "Nothing" is the title of the GOP's plan to save the economy. They would be sitting on their hands waiting for everything to suddenly turn rosy...

http://www.political-buzz.com/
I think "Nothing" describes what the Republicans have done to get us out of this mess that they created. Criticism is easy, lets see some plans other than cutting taxes and hoping for the best.
So were still waiting to hear what the republicans would have done. Oh wait, aren't they the ones that gave 700 billion to the banks?
"Nothing."

AKA - the Republicans plan for the economy.
AKA - the summation of Republican ideas.
AKA - viable Republican candidates for 2012.

They REALLY want to go on this "nothing" trip?  There's a lot more where that came from!
Is that the best the Repubs can do? They must not give the American people credit for very much brain. Blameing Obama for all of Bushes Follies is sad and "Very Lame" to say the least.
The last part of this should of said "And thank you you George Bush for NOTHING"!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it was pretty dumb actually.  It's a little early (6) months to be bashing Pres Obama on stimulus money.  I know some is filtering thru this state already.  By the way righties, what ever happened to the Gagillion dollars given out last Oct/Nov????  Let's not forget who started shelling out the money first shall we!
once again the GOP is the party of NO solutions, just attack and attack and attack and tax cuts tax cuts tax cuts (for the top 1%) - blah blah blah STFU and go away - you have nuked the country and planet for too long.
We'll never know if the stimulus failed or if it was just incompetent administration.  It's best chance of success is to fail to distribute the money, have the economy show improvement, then claim it succeeded and that deficits are only $800 billion instead of a trillion because they didn't use the stimulus money that stimulated the recovery.

Automatic second term.
Oh noooooooooooooooooo!

The sky is falling!

The sky is falling!

The Republlican solution:

Let's secede from the union and cut taxes . . . for BANKS . . . over a cup of tea . . . in Argentina!

lol
Well, the stimulus IS a failure. I'm still ticked about all the bailouts and the housing situation has not improved. And unemployment is nearing 10%.

I'm having much trouble selling my condo, and it's sharp. Thanks to the deadheads in Wash and New York.

The title fits since that was the republican economic stimulus plan...that and tax cuts for anyone left with a job once the chicken(hawks) come home to roost after 30 years of voodoo economics....
Is that a double negative?
The GOP is full of nut jobs now. What happened to these guys? I thought they were a little bigger than this kind of crazy ranting until just the last couple years. Its like they turned into the guy wearing aluminum foil on his head to keep the aliens from reading his brain waves. Look its been seven months, we haven't had a depression but just a recession. I would be thankful we haven't gone bust. I guess thats not good enough for the GOP. They would rather we had done what Hoover did. What a bunch of idiots the GOP has become. Come on guys take off the aluminum foil and stop being such alarmists! You guys have turned into the kid that cried wolf. Then you cried wolf again and again and again and again. We know you screwed up the ecomomy. The breadth and width of the thing is your fault not Obama. GROW UP!
They ought to be looking in the mirror!  The Repukes have done nothing but complian, gripe, moan, and provide nothing but the same old ideas they have used in the past.  They had their chance and they BLEW IT!!!!!!!They spent like money like crazy and will not accept that they DID IT!!!!!!!!They claim that the new administration blames the old and they DID the SAME THING!!!!!!!This lot of Repukes have become the ANTI to American!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking of failures and the GOP. Where is stupid sarah today?
It's good to know that the Republicans have so much extra money to burn that they can afford to waste it on little ad buys like this.  Where are the Republican ideas?  It is the entire country that is in a bind, and the stimulus is one positive effort....
Fortunately, I ignore most of what the RNC has to say about the President of the United States.  They are a bunch of whiners.  It has only been a few months that the stimulus package has been in play. We must give it time to work.  Patience is the key.  We gave the last administration eight years to ruin the economics of our country. Some of us will never be satisfied with anything that our President does and so I give no credence to anything that they say.
Ok, that's it, my old party has officially jumped the shark...again.  I may not have agreed with the stimulus, but dang people, let's wait until it is completely rolled out before it is called a failure.

This kind of game playing is what will keep smart people away from the Republican party for years to come.  Oh sure, you will fire up the Palin Repubs, but it does not take much to fire them up anyway and this fabricated failure is just the thing to get them riled up.

We need two parties in this country.  Please, GOP, for the sake of the country, stop playing down to the basest of voters or you will find yourselves WAY too far out of the powerbase.

Jonathan Flint, I beg of you to put some of your logic into this...you must admit, it's WAY too soon to consider the stimulus bill failure.
Why are predictable GOP attacks on President Obama treated like news while the media ignores the fact that leading economists, including John McCain's economic adviser, think the stimulus is working?

The only Obama critic who's been proven right is Paul Krugman, who thought the stimulus should have been larger. If there had been fewer Repubs in the Senate, Obama would doubtless have gotten a larger stimulus package, so it's not really his fault. He's done what he could considering the idiot Republican obstructionists he has to deal with.
The GOP is right.

Next. Declare Obama a failure.
They'll be right again.
Dear Pat - Boston.  Thank you for your many informative, interesting pieces.

From what I read on this site day after day, it appears that the GOP loves America and hates Americans.  Just like the religious right loves the unborn until the fetus is actually born and may need food, clothing, education, etc.  Then when the child is old enough to send off to fight a war (be sure they nor their kids will go),they are all patriotic about the child again.  Of course, when the soldier comes home maimed and may need health care for the rest of his life, he will be called lazy and on the dole because he can't work.  Oh, and this will be President Obama's fault, too!!  If you don't believe me, ask the tan man who knows all the answers to everything.
When's Harry Reid going to the Senate floor again to declare that we lost the Iraq war?
Keep moving folks... nothing to see here...

More of the same from the PARTY of LAME!

No ideas.. no solutions..no answers... just more NO!

I think it's fair to say that anyone with an IQ over 60 wouldn't EXPECT anything LESS from this bunch of clowns!
Americans still remember Boehner and Cantor with their whopping 3 page stimulus plan.  You know the one they said should be debated for several months.

I'd rather see government trying to do something than putting out 3 page documents and saying they should be debated for the next 6 months.  We'd still be doing nothing if it was up to Boehner and Cantor.
The GOP is a failed criminal organization. Only a moron would pay any attention to what they had to say about anything. With only about 10% of the stimulus money spent, this statement sounds like a mindless statement limbaugh or hannity casually roll off their forked tongues. I smell a gang of rats.
Hilarious! It took the idiots in the GOP years to ruin our economy and they expect Obama to fix it in a matter of months. Give me a break. You people get dumber by the minute.
Why do Gee No Per's get all of the pub?  Is this really news FR?
What a wonderful title.  What is the GOP showing today?  "Nothing".  What is the GOP bringing to the table today? "Nothing".  What do they have, of value, to show us today? "Nothing".
Perhaps we once again need to ask the GOP...

What would YOU have done differently?  What would you have done that would somehow have had a different effect?

Still waiting for that answer.
The Obama stimulus was nothing more then money to balance to books for the bloated and broke state governments. No new jobs were created, just states programs that were wasteful and bloated being maintained for another year or so until the states run out of money gain.
What are you saying...

Giving money to ACORN isn't stimulating the economy?

The stimulus was never intended to stimulate the economy - You can see that by the fact that the money was not planned to be spend for YEARS!!!

Most of the stimulus money is designed to be spent months before BoBo is running for re-election.  How convient!!!
Bonehead and Mitchkins:  Slowly but surely and in the darkness of night, go over to C Street House, look under the floor boards in Coburn's closet...there you will find the stimulant money!  Ask Ensign, he knows how to get to it..........if it ain't 'dere, head on down South of the Border...Good luck!
The democrats are failing. Its the same old thing as before.
Let's put it this way. The Stimulus was probably too small because the Democrats tried to get GOP votes. They trimmed important things from the stimulus and they got no GOP votes.

Health Care is going down the same road. WHO CARES WHAT THE GOP WANTS! It's time for the Democrats to pass what they want and when the Economy gets better they will be able to claim credit. If they continue to pass these watered down bills that have little or no chance to  work just because they want to satisfy the 40 votes in the Senate that the GOP have they will own this BUSH recession.

It only takes 50 votes my friends. NOT 60.
I am on the front lines of this thing in the construction and development business and I can tell you that things are better today than they were in January and February.   We were in free fall at the start of the year.

Right now things seem to have stabalized and we sitting at the bottom I hope, because you can only go up from the bottom.

I think the stimulus probably helped to stop the fall and hope that as more of the money is spent it will help lift the economy.

The Republicans are just playing petty politics right now.   They need to come to the table with some real ideas and help President Obama and the Democrats in Congress solve very real problems.   Not the nonsense that the Republicans seem to worry more about like guns, guns, and guns.
Who is stupid enough to listen to the people who got us into this mess in the first place"
Its not just the Republicans claiming it is a failure ask the millions of unemployed democrats that can't find a job. They are not to pleased with the Stimulus not creating jobs but losing them. Obama stated the economy was worse than the great depression now he says they miscalulated. He is a J>V> player in a Varsity game. He hasn't a clue. Its hit or miss. and we are missing big time
Well, to use a term that even a republican should be able to comprehend...it takes one to know one.

When the republicans want to come sit at the adult table, they're more than welcome, but if they don't want to be a productive part of cleaning up the messes created because of republican ideology and governance, I'd prefer the Dems just work around them - or bulldoze right over them.  They're obstructing progress for the majority just as they have for the last 8 years. Enough.
Who is stupid enough to listen to the people who got us into this mess in the first place"
