Palin followed orders on Ayers attack

From NBC's Mark Murray
The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder got an advance copy of Haynes Johnson's and Dan Balz's upcoming book "The Battle for America 2008: The Story of an Extraordinary Election." And the book, per Ambinder, reveals that Sarah Palin's

Bill Ayers attack on Barack Obama was orchestrated by the McCain campaign.

Balz and Johnson answer this question pretty definitively. They've obtained an e-mail from campaign adviser Nicolle Wallace sent to Palin … with an attached New York Times article about Obama's relationship with Ayers.

Turns out that the McCain campaign was a week away from running an ad linking Obama to Ayers. The e-mail from Wallace, according to Balz and Johnson, reads as follows: "Governor and Team: rick [Davis], Steve [Schmidt] and I suggest the following attack from the new york times. If you are comfortable, please deliver the attack as written. Please do not make any changes to the below without approval from steve or myself because precision is crucial in our ability to introduce this."

McCain HQ had suggested the following line: "This is not a man who sees American as you and I do -- as the greatest force for good in the world. This is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country."

At the event, Palin said this: "Our opponent ... is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country. This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America."

Wow, campaigns have speechwriters for candidates.  Who ever would have guessed!

Keep it up, guys, and you'll get the lapel pin to go with the secret decoder ring as members of the Obama press corps fan club!
And yet, Sarah Palin was 'plain' around with a TRAITOR'

Sarah Palin's husband Todd is a member of the Alaska Independence PArty
The Alaska Independence Party wants Alaska to SECEDE for the United States

How's THAT for Treason ??
Not much discussion of this during the campaign

Todd Palin is a DISLOYAL American

The Palins are Dead Fish who go with the Treasonous Flow

Sarah Palin, Palin' around with Traitors
I think I'll wait for her book to see what really happened, although this would not be a surprise.

Palin can sum up her entire autobiography in 3 words.

I'M A VICTIM!

Keith Olbermann sums this up perfectly in a January commentary.

So much for the Maverick.

Maybe my idea for a possible alternative career for the governor wasn't so far off the mark ...

And we should be surprised by this?
Pathetic, just pathetic. Right wingers know how to attack, throw mud, insult the opposition, but they were clueless about the laws of this country or how to lead. It will be a long, long before the country will trust the likes of Limbaugh, Boehner, Cantor, Cheney, Bush 43, McCain...and the list goes on.

What?! Campaigns orchestrate and coordinate things? Say it ain't so!!
This is more like it Mark!

Ofcourse Quitter Palin couldn't hold an original thought and had to be spoon fed her whining points.  That Wallace Witch was behind a lot of the great right lies about Obama.  But ofcourse we're not allowed to say she's been palling around with her secessionist husband and her new lies that he only checked the independent box are just that, lies.  He was into that movement for years and has only changed his secessionist tune because his wicked wife was running on the national scene.

When will the Wicked Wasilla Witch ever figure out that the more she gets in front of the cameras the more she makes an idiot of herself to Mainstream America?  Never probably.

She abandoned her post so she could cash in on her book deal and get her tv unreality show on fox and freaks.  If she were in the armed forces she'd be a deserter during wartime.

Just Say No to the Wicked Wasilla Witch!
Isn't this giving away state secrets?
They are all despicable. Thank God they lost.
So?

I hope Palin gets millions for her inevitable book and I hope she quit because that's what she's going to do.

Everyone else, including underpaid Washington Post reporters don't seem to mind using her for their own particular gravy train.  They, in fact, justify anything Sarah Palin earns from hers.
This folks is the GOP. Awful awful people. Including John McCain. Senator John McCain. The so-called mainstream media was no better.

This isn't leadership. This is racism. And no one in the GOP stands up to it.
Ayers, Ayers, Ayers, oh wait, he's the guy that is a domestic terrorist, excuse me, I mean a "man-made disaster maker". He's also the fella that had the first fundraiser for some one named Barack something or other when Barack first ran for state senate in Illinois.
No surprise really.  If McCain had not authorized the attack, he would have stopped Palin but it went on for weeks.  It went on until McCain realized it wasn't working plus it finally hit him that they were insighting violence against candidate Obama.  Shame on McCain, I thought he was better than that.

It didn't work because most Americans were smart enough to realize that if you are on a board, you have no control over who the other board members are.  It was also a lie that Ayers ever hosted a fund raising for Obama.  Like so many false stories that were circulated and passed off as truth, the terrorist one shows the depth of slash/burn republican politics.  Don't attack the person's policies, attack the person; make your opponent seem unpatriotic or unamerican--that's Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich style politics.  Finally, we the people said "ENOUGH".
"Ronald Reagan DID NOT bring down the Soviet union
It was an internal collapse"
MSierra, SF

Hey MSierra - excellent observation of the truth that the repugnant ones try to cover up with their great right lies that cover up all the damage Raygunz did with his Voodoo Tinkle Down economics.  Sex, drugs and rock and roll had more to do with the demise of the Soviet Union because that and their little war in Afghanistan were the true undoings of the Big Red Bear.  When I saw the punk rock bands playing in Leningrad during the early 80's I knew the Soviets were losing control of their masses.  Raygunz was given too much credit for things he didn't do and not given enough credit for the things he did that have screwed up our secular democracy and economy for the past 28 years.

Raygunz's Legacy is the Great Right Lie!
Is this a surprise?  Does anyone really think Palin would have been able to repeat that phrasing over and over and over again without a the approval of the campaign?

Of course Palin was able to go all "Mavericky" but not following the script - precision isn't exactly her strong point (see resignation speech)

And to No joe, no bo - if it isn't a surprise that campaigns have speachwriters (it's not) then why do the talking heads over at fox get all upset that the president uses a teleprompter????
The Lefts fascination with Sarah Palin is boundless. She is the one that represents real change, and the media and the Left (same thing, I know) are confused by that fact.
Campaigns plan events, and this book reveals that. Have the authors made room on their mantels for the Pulitzer they are going to win?
Of course, team Obama never directs who should say what and when, do they?  Oh yeah, remember when McCain was actually ahead in the polls and candidate Obama received a checklist (from various Dem leaders) to follow to defeat him? Remember when he had a crowd of "advisers" with him on his rock star tour of Europe during the elections...to help him know what to say?  Remember when Michelle Obama disappeared during the election when public perception wasn't very high on her ("For the 1st time in my life I'm proud to be an American").  And don't forget, even nomrally liberal media folks (Helen Thomas and Chip Reid to name a few) have lately said that the Obama administration is the most controlling one they've ever dealt with when it comes to what questions can be asked at both press conferences and town hall meetings.
Peggy Noonan was Reagan's speech writer

She coined the phrase Morning in America'

From Washington Monthly:

'...NOONAN TELLS US WHAT SHE REALLY THINKS....
In September, in one of the presidential campaign's more refreshing and unscripted moments, conservative columnist Peggy Noonan chatted with NBC's Chuck Todd about Sarah Palin, when both thought their microphones were off. Palin's addition to the Republican ticket, Noonan said, was "political bullshit."

Ten months later, Noonan's opinion of the resigning Alaska governor seems to have deteriorated further. In her Wall Street Journal column today, Noonan just unloads on Palin, characterizing her, accurately, as everything that's wrong with Republican politics in the 21st century. She even recognizes conservative claims about Palin, only to quickly knock them down.

"The elites hate her." The elites made her. It was the elites of the party, the McCain campaign and the conservative media that picked her and pushed her. The base barely knew who she was. It was the elites, from party operatives to public intellectuals, who advanced her and attacked those who said she lacked heft. She is a complete elite confection. She might as well have been a bonbon.

"She makes the Republican Party look inclusive." She makes the party look stupid, a party of the easily manipulated.

"She shows our ingenuous interest in all classes." She shows your cynicism.

"Now she can prepare herself for higher office by studying up, reading in, boning up on the issues." Mrs. Palin's supporters have been ordering her to spend the next two years reflecting and pondering. But she is a ponder-free zone. She can memorize the names of the presidents of Pakistan, but she is not going to be able to know how to think about Pakistan. Why do her supporters not see this? Maybe they think "not thoughtful" is a working-class trope!

"The media did her in." Her lack of any appropriate modesty did her in.

Noonan, methodically and thoroughly, simply takes Palin apart, detailing the governor's inability to be thoughtful, unwillingness to learn what others think, reluctance to explain or even understand her own policy positions, and tendency to say things that are "scattered, illogical, manipulative and self-referential to the point of self-reverence."

Noonan concludes that we're in an era in which the nation needs "conservative leaders who know how to think" and a Republican Party that is "serious, as serious as the age, because that is what a grown-up, responsible party -- a party that deserves to lead -- would do."

From Noonan's keyboard to the party's ears...'

It certainly wasn’t an original thought. I doubt that she even knew who Bill Ayers was before the 2008 primary.

Other Palin news:
Palin’s claim that the millions being drained from Alaska – Not completely true.
Murrow, a spokesperson, acknowledged that the $1.9 million total was arrived at by adding up attorney hours spent on fending off complaints - based on the fixed salaries of lawyers in the governor's office and the Department of Law. The money would have gone to the lawyers no matter what they were doing. The complaints are "just distracting them from other duties," Murrow said.
In other words, while these lawyers might have been free to do other legal work for the state, the ethics complaints have apparently not had the real world impact Palin has claimed, and didn't drain money away from cops, teachers, roads and other things.
This is a given. Palin was and is nothing more than a front. Her intellectual capacity is outlined by her eloquent speach. The motive being money and an ego injection. The problem is, she wouldn't give up and go away. She finally had to be told to "shut-up and resign."
"Why is the demand for yachts so low?  Don't you think most boaters would love to own one?"
no joe, no bo, nj

Hey no joe no bo no job - building yachts does not create as many jobs as building boats for the masses to enjoy.  This yacht nonsense has been bandied about before and it's just more bogus feel good lies from you repugnant ones.  I guess it's a good thing that you don't want to argue with yourself since you don;t want to argue with idiots.  I'm glad that you felt compelled to answer my comment because it shows that yes there are a lot of people who will think what I say makes sense and that scares you doesn't it.

You've filled your posts here with nothing but feel good lies, and I can't wait until next summer to see how you're doing wiping all that egg off your face when you see Obama's Recovery has recovered us from our Bushwhacked Economy.  Demand is created by taking from the rich and greedy and giving to the poor.  When you give the rich and greedy more tax cuts all they do is laugh on their way to the bank as they don't create more demand.  When you give money to those with not enouigh you create demand as they go shipping.

Expose the Great Right Lies for What They Are, Lies!
Tinkle Down Economics that have left the vast majority of us all wet from the wrong kind of golden shower.  Eric, Salinas, CA (Sent Friday, July 10, 2009 1:47 PM)

Eric, $898 billion later and I haven’t felt a drop from Baracks Stimulus package yet!

Maybe he and Michelle need to fly to France again at US taxpayer expense and drink some more champagne!
TS and Jawillie-I DON'T bring up the teleprompter thing-except for once, when I learned that during state of the union speech, Bill Clinton realized that the wrong speech had been loaded, and then, for TWENTY MINUTES, gave the speech that should have been loaded FROM MEMORY.

That is pretty impressive.
Quotes from Barack Obama:  "Bill Ayers is just a guy in my neighborhood".  (Facts:  They served on boards together and Obama thoroughly read Ayer's books and liked them).

"I never knew of his radical ideas" (concerning Reverand Wright)...(facts:  He called Wright "a father figure" and sat in his pews for 20 years and read his newsletters which hailed such radicals as Farrakhan as "man of the year").

Assocications with Ayers, Wright, and others may not disqualify Obama from becoming president, but his outright lies (made easy by the media who never probed) should make every american uneasy as to what this smooth-talker tells us each week.  Remember, he also told us he'd have no lobbyists (he has them), he'd take earmarks serious (he hasn't), he'd demonstrate "new politics" (not even close--more partisanship and petty politics than ever)....etc.
They are all despicable. Thank God they lost.
Amy B Portland, ME

Too bad we all lost when Obama won.

That delivery of shovels get up to Maine yet?
MSNBC your obsession with PALIN is troubling. How is this news. A campaign wrote a speech for their VP.... what a surprise...? She followed their orders...? What a surprise... Leave this lady alone... forcus on somthing that matters.
The campaign asked Sarah to say one thing and yet she says another.
She is a woman who  does not see American as Americans do as evidenced by those vicious lies. More importantly, it indicates her inability to follow. If you can't follow you can't lead.

Go away Moosehead Sarah!
Of course she read the script.  But she was complicit in its outcome.  She incited hate, bigotry and rage.  That's on her.  If she were a leader, she wouldn't have complied.  Once she was 'announced' - what did she think was going to happen if she acted like a true Maverick and didn't toe the line?  Was she afraid they would drop her like last years' failed CBS lineup?  A true leader refuses to participate in behavior unbecoming.  That is how respect is earned.

She is NOT a leader.  Time and again she has shown us that she simply doesn't have the knowledge or backbone to manage herself or a National rollout.
Is this a surprise?  Does anyone really think Palin would have been able to repeat that phrasing over and over and over again without a the approval of the campaign?

TS,CT

Good thing Palin didn't repeat things like "Hope and Change" and "Yes We Can" at all the campaign stops.
If Grant thinks Palin represents REAL change, he needs to think beyond the right wing talking points and really look at the questionable tactics she employed as governor. Where there is smoke, there is fire.
Glad to see McCain was so above it all.

He was willing to do anything to win, including leaving the country in the hands of the least qualified VP in modern history and setting up Obama as a target of even more death threats. He should be proud.
Isn't that what all 'good' pitbulls do?

Follow orders?
The gop has been doing this for years so it should come as no surprise. In looking at past US Senators from Illinois I learned that in 1970, Karl Rove used a false identity to enter Alan Dixon's campaign headquarters, stole 1000 sheets of letterhead, printed them up with "free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing," and distributed them at homeless shelters and rock concerts.

None of this should be any surprise after the gop coordinated attack on John Kerry where they smeared him and questioned his earning of his medals to make him look weak on defense. All so George W Bush could win another term and screw up this country for another four years. This is the party of Country First!
"I hope Palin gets millions for her inevitable book and I hope she quit because that's what she's going to do."
------------------------------------------------------
Hear, hear, Richard.

I also hope that Sarah Palin takes the easy way out and makes millions off of her adoring fans.  Why not?  If people want to pay to have an audience with her, or buy her books- great.  Go for it, Sarah.  She certainly didn't seem to enjoy the actual work and drudgery involved with governing; and anything that moves her further away from actual policy-making is A-OK for many of us, so it's a win-win.
She abandoned her post so she could cash in on her book deal....Eric, Salinas, CA (Sent Friday, July 10, 2009 2:22 PM)
----------------------------------------------------
COMPLETELY different from the book deal for Barack Hussein Rezkobama, right Eric?

Double talking left coast lib!
That's right Feisty and Eric.  Ronald Reagan is a republican myth.  He made government bigger, not smaller; the Soviet Union collapsed of its own failed policies; he spent millions of borrowed dollars and left massive national debt; he cut taxes for the rich and began the decline of the middle class; he gave us VooDoo economics and budget practices; he started the cultural social issue wars turning American against American.  And the biggest myth of all was that republicans loved him--when in truth, like McCain, most republicans did not like him but today they speak as if he were the messiah.  I've said it before, Reagan turned me into a democrat.
And Obama dictated the attack on Palin.  And the attack on Joe the Plumber.  And the attack on Limbaugh.  And the attack on Gregg.  And the attack on McCain.....all the attacks on anyone who doesn't worship him.

Come to think of it, just like the liberal posters here who attack anyone that doesn't agree with them.  Attack, attack, name-call, attack.
Eric:

So, Eric, you're for the "Volksboot"?  Little stripped down dinghys with an electric trolling motor that seat four people and very little fishing tackle that couldn't pull a five year old water-skier?

Why is "dinghy" so appropriate here?

Egregious Salinas Poppycock
Forgot something about Reagan.  The press makes so much of VP Biden's gaffes but they have forgotten that Reagan was the King of Gaffes.  Yes, he had a sense of humor and gave a good speech but he also made really dumb comments which the media excused because of his age--just like the media excused McCain for his gaffes.
Sarah Palin... Is she smarter than a fifth grader?...Answer is NO... She gave a "Shout- Out" to the Third Graders( Her apparent class mates) at some school during the debate!
"When Reagan was president unemployment was at 15%."

Anita, Birmingham, Alabama (Sent Friday, July 10, 2009 10:03 AM)
================

You’ve been called on this before, but you still keep repeating the lie.  The unemployment rate under Reagan peaked at 10.8% in 1982 – and then declined dramatically throughout the remainder of his term.
Get your facts straight and stop with the lies.

Bill, Fairfax, VA (Sent Friday, July 10, 2009 1:45 PM)

It is a very rare occasion when Anita actually comes up with facts instead of worn-out rhetoric and talking points!
When are the liberals going to stop wasting time on Palin and actually create those jobs that Obama promised????  I need a job NOW.
For once I agree with Eric in Salinas and MSierra SF:

"Ronald Reagan DID NOT bring down the Soviet union
It was an internal collapse"
MSierra, SF

"Soviet union...It was an internal collapse"

"excellent observation of the truth"

Well, you two hard-core Lefties admit it in writing. Large central governments that control all aspects of business and social order will collapse from within. Thus will end the utopia of Barack Hussein Obama and his loyal followers.
About 3/4 of the lefty posters here should be nicknamed "Squealer".

Starting with MSierra and Especially Salinas Porker.
When you give money to those with not enouigh you create demand as they go shipping.  Eric, Salinas, CA (Sent Friday, July 10, 2009 2:30 PM)
