Palin followed orders on Ayers attack

From NBC's Mark Murray
The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder got an advance copy of Haynes Johnson's and Dan Balz's upcoming book "The Battle for America 2008: The Story of an Extraordinary Election." And the book, per Ambinder, reveals that Sarah Palin's

Bill Ayers attack on Barack Obama was orchestrated by the McCain campaign.

Balz and Johnson answer this question pretty definitively. They've obtained an e-mail from campaign adviser Nicolle Wallace sent to Palin … with an attached New York Times article about Obama's relationship with Ayers.

Turns out that the McCain campaign was a week away from running an ad linking Obama to Ayers. The e-mail from Wallace, according to Balz and Johnson, reads as follows: "Governor and Team: rick [Davis], Steve [Schmidt] and I suggest the following attack from the new york times. If you are comfortable, please deliver the attack as written. Please do not make any changes to the below without approval from steve or myself because precision is crucial in our ability to introduce this."

McCain HQ had suggested the following line: "This is not a man who sees American as you and I do -- as the greatest force for good in the world. This is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country."

At the event, Palin said this: "Our opponent ... is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country. This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America."

I guess it's a good thing that you don't want to argue with yourself since you don;t want to argue with idiots.  Eric, Salinas, CA

Just as I thought, Eric is a three year old playing on his mother's computer.
Sub Sailor:

Thanks for justifying Ken Starr's work. The cost of that always gets thrown back in the face of Republicans.
I'm glad that you felt compelled to answer my comment because it shows that yes there are a lot of people who will think what I say makes sense and that scares you doesn't it. Eric, Salinas, CA
----------------------

If anyone thinks you make sense, it scares me.
I'm trying to think of a politician who is more polarizing than Sarah Palin and can't come up with anyone.  Bill Clinton certainly stirred up the ire of the right but I don't think he supporters were as blindly allegiant as Palin's seem to be.  I think the lines are drawn in the sand with Palin & I don't expect opinions to change much either way.
The Lefts fascination with Sarah Palin is boundless. She is the one that represents real change, and the media and the Left (same thing, I know) are confused by that fact.

And here we have another one attempting to play the "bash her out of fear" BS, but won't bother explaining the hypocrisy of a woman who:

1) preaches family values despite her own family hypocritically ignoring it

2) wants to play the socialist card on Obama when the state she was recently governor of practices it every year with oil dividend money

3) tries to sound off on other people's being linked to terrorists, when he own husband is a traitor for wanting the state to secede.

It is laughable how many people try to defend her without trying to defend *anything* she has ever said or done that runs in contrary to her words.

Take your blinders off fools!
Apparently the Palin experience re-iterates, as does the election of Barack Obama, how shallow and superficial the electorate really is.

No one seems to recognize that the American people were presented with the worst choice of candidates from both parties that has been seen in some time.

Republicans voted for an old, entrenched Senator and Democrats voted for an inexperienced pretty face and better than average delivery of a speech.

It's mostly really about us.

Palin and other Republicans have only one brain cell that they share and it's a defective one.  Their supporters believe in what they are told, they are too lazy to do the math and show their work.
This folks is the GOP. Awful awful people. Including John McCain. Senator John McCain. The so-called mainstream media was no better.

This isn't leadership. This is racism. And no one in the GOP stands up to it.

Pat, Boston, MA (Sent Friday, July 10, 2009 2:18 PM)

I guess I'm dumb but please explain to me how this is racism?
Eric in Salinas you can't be serious? You said demand is created by taking from the rich and giving to the poor...are you Robinhood? Or should I say Robbin' the hood? You actually think that our current economic "recovery" is going well - or will be in several more months? What planet are you from? Where I live, on earth, people are still out of work and trying to put food on their tables. But, oh yeah, there are some of those Obama supporters who are living high off the hog. Maybe that's what you mean when you say rob from one to give to another. Geez, that means when he leaves office the next President's favorites will live the good life and he and his pals will be on the street.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Talking points! They used the hell out her and she was stupid enough to fall for and now they are standing at such a distance from her as though she smells. This woman allowed herself and her family to be placed in the position to be mocked and smeared.

She and her husband both are no more than money grubing liers. Who would want to read a book about her? She is a walking book of disaster looking for a photo op.
Anna Molly:

Great Blog about the credit card. Precise and to the point.

Feisty:

Looks like both of us have imposters.

Mark in Seattle:

I'm not as nasty as you ... period. I attack just to piss you off but it's always what I percieve to be true. I think you're a thin-skinned phony. As far as issues are you too dumb to figure out who and what I am without making up all that "mindless chitter chatter" about me just to hear yourself talk.

I'm on Obie's side as far as gay marriage is concerned. That's right, I agree with Obie. YOU okay gay marriage.

I am against abortion AND the killing of abortion docs. God will know what to do with them at a later date.

The Republicans are as irresponsible as the Dems.
Like that, Mark? EXCEPT that Obie has spent this country into oblivion and has no direction. Biden as much as said so. So I give Bush credit for at least holding true to what he percieved as right and wrong while Obie is still trying to figure some way to please everybody. That doesn't work and it's HIS economy now, not Bush's. I didn't agree with Bush concerning immigration. It was all talk and he did NOTHING to stop it. Obie doesn't give a damn either.
If you are here illegally, you go back. It's cut and dried with me. Play fair and come into this country legally. YOU are on the flip side of this one. We know that.

I also think term limits are necessary. The fact that Kennedy or even any Republican can stay forever is ridiculous.

I think Obie is short on America's defense. I don't like him apologizing for America in any way because he comes acrossed weak and I believe he is. I don't recall him saying one positive thing about America in his visits overseas. I consider him beyond a socialist.

I don't believe in redistribution of money because all he's doing is taking away a person's ability to become the best they can be. I'm a capitalist and I don't like it when people lay around and do nothing when they are capable of working. If they're well off and don't want or need to work, that's THEIR business, not Obie's. Free entitlements should be given to the elderly, sick and disabled, not someone too damn lazy to work for a living expecting me, you or anyone else to hand him OUR hard-earned money.

And after Palin gets criticized over and over for things she didn't do or had no control over, like that $150,000 campaign wardrobe, Michell Obama can take those $1200 purses and stick them where the sun don't shine.

In the last 28 years a Dem has been prez for only 8 of them and HE was a lying, cheating pathetic human being, as is Mark Sanford.

That's the diff here. I will castrate my own. You blokes honor the devil in yours.

Oh boy - I'm shocked NOT!  Silly Sarah probably never even heard of Ayers before she jumped on the McShame train.

Ditto MSierra :)  on both!!

Hope all have a good weekend.  I'm going to.  I'm going to remind Mark and Dom the question of the week was "When's Larry O going to get his own show?"  Chris must be really bummed about missing the Silly Sarah debacle. I'm sure he will make up for it when he gets back!!
Did Sarah remember that all by herself or did she have a teleprompter to use to spew the hate?
ya  and  this obama is the new terror  luvin presidunce.  my cousin was murdered  in  one of the many bank robberies committed by obamas pals, berni dorhn and bill bomber ayers..
I'm sure glad Obama doesn't script any of his events. He wouldn't do anything like hug a cancer victim and tell them he's going to help her. No. Not Obama.
MFSierra, you are so right! Peggy Noonan's piece today was pitch perfect (she always is, even though I hardly agree with her on anything, she is always thoughtful and measured) and EVERYONE should read it. I've sent a copy to Morning Shmoe and Shmika to make sure they get their facts straight for Monday. However my FAVORITE line is from that feisty Tina Brown, who said it just right: Palin is just so "arrogant in her ignorance." Gotta love those two strong women from different decks dishing it out to Madame Paylin--who is quitting on her state for money!
Eric, Salinas, CA: You've filled your posts here with nothing but feel good lies, and I can't wait until next summer to see how you're doing wiping all that egg off your face when you see Obama's Recovery has recovered us from our Bushwhacked Economy.

Oh, now we have to wait until next summer for the stimulus to work! How's it going to work though if California is still broke? The biggest economic engine in the country, 8th biggest in the world, will still be dead in the water issuing IOUs that no one wants. How's that going to help Obama economic plans?

And next summer will come and go, and unemployment will be 15%, and Obama supporters will go "Wait tell next year!".

You guys/gals sound like Cubs fans.
Time to leave Palin alone. Obama doesnt seem to be much help. His ideas are ruining the country. We could do much worse than Palin.
Palin does make one hell of an attack dog.

But beter than the Chihuahua?
"If you are comfortable, please deliver the attack as written."  --Nicole Wallace (email to Palin)

*************************

So--I guess Palin was comfortable with the content and wording of the attack. She could've chosen to be "mavericky" and refuse to use something that could backfire and make the speaker look bad. But she didn't.

The fact that Wallace, Schmidt, etc. felt it necessary to stoop to these attacks shows their desperation to bring down the opposition, whatever the cost. Too bad we couldn't have heard more positive things from Palin--her ideas, her hopes for the country.  Maybe her reputation wouldn't have suffered quite so badly.  Well, she still can't form coherent responses to simple questions--but she can deliver prepared speeches just fine.

I don't like Palin or her views, but I hope that she has learned from her brief time on the national stage that it doesn't pay to spew negative, hateful rhetoric about opponents.
".....And yet, Sarah Palin was 'plain' around with a TRAITOR'
Sarah Palin's husband Todd is a member of the Alaska Independence PArty
The Alaska Independence Party wants Alaska to SECEDE for the United States
How's THAT for Treason ??
Not much discussion of this during the campaign
Todd Palin is a DISLOYAL American
The Palins are Dead Fish who go with the Treasonous Flow
Sarah Palin, Palin' around with Traitors ....."
MSierra, SF (Sent Friday, July 10, 2009 2:10 PM)

Uh....no.
It is BARRACK OBAMA who hangs out with Domestic Terrorists from the 1970's; WILLIAM AYERS
Federally Convicted Political Racketeers; TONY REZKO
and, Racist, Cult-Religion Leaders; JEREMIAH WRIGHT.

Secession, if voted upon and approved by a majority of Alaskans would not be treason; but rather, simple majority rule.

But, a total moran like yourself would never understand that.

In short Sierra....you put the 'simple' in SIMPLETON, because that's exactly what you are.
LOL

To: The Idiots dumping on the President...
The President  has been in office a "short time" Did you expect change the next day? For crying out loud... . Bush SCREWED things up but President Obama gets the rap! I think those dumpers can't see past his skin color... I have never seen a President so disrespected in my whole life! Bush paid himself before exiting with the Bail-out money...but we can't see that!
Give the President a chance to make a change... No one would want to clean up the mess Bush made!
Keep the Change--what attacks are you talking about??? Any attacks Obama's campaign strategists (Axelrod and Plouffe) intentionally avoided personal issues. McCain's infidelity was NEVER brought up by Obama or Biden.  Obama basically avoided any talk of Palin. He focused on McCain's stances. I thought the emphasis on how many houses he had (or didn't know he had) was petty, but it still wasn't an attack on his character. It showed how out of touch McCain was with the average American family.

You must not have been paying very good attention during the primaries and the fall campaign!
Lies (Sent Friday, July 10, 2009 2:31 PM)
----------------------------------------------
Yep, you're right. More gop lies. If you're going to quote him, get the whole quote. Here is exactly what Barack Obama said when asked about Ayers:

"George, but this is an example of what I'm talking about.

"This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago, who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.

"And the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values, doesn't make much sense, George."

So I guess you aren't really interested in the facts. You just want to cut out one sound bite that makes him sound like he is covering something up!
