Hey Obama, Welcome to New Jersey!

Posted: Thursday, July 16, 2009 11:10 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Ahead of President Obama's trip to New Jersey, Republican Chris Christie welcomes him to the Garden State with this Web video:

Christie, a former U.S. Attorney who leads Corzine by 12 points in the latest statewide polling, gives some tourism advice to Obama. Christie, who is from NORTH JERSEY, urges him to do some pretty stereotypical JERSEY SHORE things -- visit the Point Pleasant Boardwalk and listen to Bruce Springsteen.

Obama: Trickle Up Poverty
Maybe Obie can cross the bridge into NYC? You know, where his tax plans will raise the total taxes paid by many New Yorkers to 60%.
FR: [Chris] Christie, a former U.S. Attorney who leads Corzine by 12 points in the latest statewide polling.

That's the number before Obama shows up. Look for that number to increase after Obama leaves.

Wow!

A Republican, keeping his tone inviting, and respectful for President Obama!

Wow!
What's the weather like in Jersey?  Here in Chicago, we just shivered through the coldest June in the last 40 years.  July has also been well below normal.  The forecast high for Saturday is 68.  That would be 17 degrees below normal.

Looks like the 1,200 page energy bill that the House passed without bothering to read it was a success.  Global warming is no more!
Maybe the poser Obama can be briefed a little better on NJ landmarks then he was for his own hometowns' landmarks? "Cominsky Field" Barack? You butchered the name of the stadium for your favorite baseball team? Maybe try Comiskey Park next time phony.
Well, it was a little long, but I kind of like it!

lol

Take note Republicans in Congress, that's how you can be in RESPECTFUL opposition to THE PRESIDENT - a little CLASS goes a long way.

That said, I really didn't hear anything NEW from Mr. Christie, but hey, I give him an A for effort! :)
See where Obama's little front groups are hiring "Grassroots" workers for $11/hour to promote his statist health care plan? This part of the 600,000 jobs you promised this summer Barack?

Yeah like President Obama cares about the false welcome from the no-bid contract criminal christie.  It's still early and Corzine has plenty of time to make up ground.  As to how far Corzine is down I'd wait to see what Nate Silverman says about what the spread is since he had the best poll of the last election.

I'm sure that President Obama will wow the crowds like the repugnant ones can't.  Hopefully Quitter Palin will campaign for the no-bid contract criminal to energize Corzine's base to get out and defeat her wicked words and ways.  Then again the courts may end tyhe no-bid contract criminals campaign as he heads off to court and then prison.

In Obama and Corzine We Trust!
Republicans winning would be a big step for NJ. Lots of garabage to take out and clean up from Democrats  long 4 years of control, incompetence and corruption.

The Messiah can accomplish much, even with only half of Congress voting on a bill. He truly is a miracle worker.
The only bone I have in this fight is retaining Democratic leadership in the State. Other wise, I know nothing of this candidate.

In answer to Stanis Myers:

Obama is like a crack dealer. He gets you hooked, then he starts making demands. Sanford was right to Just Say No.

You mean like Rush? So tacky and tasteless, but then again, so are your leadership examples.

If you need to ask, you are simple minded....At some point reasonable sound, sane individuals do admit when they are wrong, have misjudged and are ashamed.

I suppose when you’re being paid to obstruct and spread disease and pestilence, then you do what you have to do...anything belittling for a dollar? You a Crack dealer? You are making some strong comparisions...substantuiated proof have we?

P.S. You shouldn't smoke your product...
listen to Bruce Springsteen?

Yeah because listening to people rich enough to protect themselves from liberal actions has worked out so well................ oh maybe he means the music? in that case I agree bahhahahah

From First Thoughts:
>>>Those gubernatorial contests in New Jersey and Virginia are the two marquee races this off-year. And their outcomes will definitely tell us something about Obama and the state of the Republican Party. If Republicans win both, that could signal another chink in the Obama armor and a possible GOP resurgence. On the other hand, if Dems win both, it could mean that the Republican brand remains in the dumps.
==========
I only have time to squeeze off a quick comment before it's back to meetings.  I don't know the situation in VA, but I have to disagree that the NJ race says anything about Obama or the state of the GOP.  Corzine's problems in NJ started pretty much before he even got into office (blame McGreevy-gate).  Corzine has never really been popular in NJ (he pretty much won by default) and I don't see a Christie win in NJ (which I fully expect) to be indicative of any kind of Republican "comeback".  It's merely a case of choosing between the devil you know and the devil you don't know.

One question you didn't analyze is what would a split between NJ and VA mean.

Uhhhhh, sure, so the President is supposed to do everything for the State of NJ notwithstanding the Gov., State Legislature and City Council.

I assume as well that this greatest tax burdened title was a direct result when the President was being sworn into office as well.

I always love how the sitting administration always has more responsibility to the health of a given state than the state representatives do themselves!!?!
Nashville_fan: Well, it was a little long, but I kind of like it!

I'm sure you did.

Obama: Trickle Up Poverty
We're All Equal - Equally Poor

There's nothing to fear but fear itself? The only place we can go now is up. President Obama will take us there and that's the fear of the Republican Party.

Wow. Looks like we've discovered a very bitter person. Sounds a like a personal problem. Trying to draw people down to your level are you? That certainly is a long way down. Good luck with that.

Cold here in Maine this summer as well. Funny though, I came to the opposite conclusion, that Obama has it right global warming is effecting weather sooner, not later as scientist have said all along it would mean different things for different places. Seems colder for repubs, warmer for dems. NJ is neither. So what do you expect?
Is Christie a RINO ??

If so, Flush wants him to leave the party

12 points is a lot
What did Corzine do wrong ??

NJ is going Republican and California is going Democratic

I'll take that trade off
Gon*d the Barbarian has been a FAILURE in California

It's time for Governor Moonbeam to return
It's also time for California Democrats to start acting RESPONSIBLY about spending
If you don't we get disasters like we have now

SF has the WORST State Senator possible, Carol Migden
She was arrogant and irresponsible (DUI)
We voted her out of office
But, she's still feeding at the public trough as a member of the Waste Management Board meeting once a month and getting $100K a year !!!

California Democrats have to clean up their act

Univ of California, Davis has raised the Chancellor's salary by FOURTY PER CENT while raising student fees
It turns out the new Chancellor was involved in an admission scandal, allowing big shots to get their unqualified children into school
(sound like George Bush and Dan Quayle ?)
I'm off tomorrow to NYC with my grandaughter for the weekend. We can't wait. Statute of Liberty. Lower East Side. Ellis Island. Empire State Building. Zoo. Mama Mia. Boat cruise. Little Italy. A walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.

Assuming of course it doesn't rain, which right now it looks like it's going to do. What a bummer.
Fiesty and Bad Chihuahua,

I can't help myself.  I read your posts, and I can't help but think you're the same person with opposing views.  You have every right to an opinion, but you're walking sound bites.  At least Anita, Nashville, Pat, No Jo, MSierra, and others.  Have issue based opinions for me to disagree or agree with.  You're swinging a political hammer without a head.

So I'll be the Jerk for today.  You seem to be on here a lot so why not contribute something to the discussions outside of what you hear on the news network talk shows?

Nashville,

You seem to want to take the health care debate down the logical path.  What would be your thoughts on a Non-profit health care co-op (or a national network of co-ops)similar to the Credit Union model.  It would be owned by the people, and there would be little beurocratic overhead?

There are laws right now that would prevent that kind of thing or we would most likely already have it.  A lot of states don't allow Health Insurance to be purchased or sold outisde their own state which really contributes to massive the overhead insurance companies have.

In essence this is what is being proposed, but the people in charge of funding it are going to be torn between several different endevors.  At least with a co-op the people in charge are soley dedicated to health care.  The biggest difference is people would have to take the initiative to get in the co-op instead of just having health care.  Plus because it's non-profit it would piss off big insurance, which I know is something you would enjoy!
NJ has the highest property taxes in the country. The state is in debt, unemployment is high, business and industry are closing and not all salaries are for the "rich". Corzine has talked out of both sides of his derriere for the last 10 years (since he was senator after he left Goldman Sachs) what would make any NJ voter vote Democrat again? If you don't live in NJ and aren't going to vote your opinion of the governor and his campaigner in chief are un-necessary. The democrats in NJ have RUINED this state. Like they do in every state. It's time to vote for people and their policies not parties and their play to pay mentality. We will be sorry that Lonegan is not the new Gov. Obama go back to Washington and do some frackin work. The campaign is over so stop trying to rack up the frequent flier miles you don't get to use them after 2012. Get back to work. Remember the taxpayers are YOUR BOSSES!
Nurse!  Administer 500mg of thorazine to Corzine, stat! He's gone pathologically psychotic and now is in serious risk of harming himself after wrecking the state.
Is Christie gonna welcome the IQuitaRod ?

Maybe he should be inviting Palin to see the Jersey sights

She can give Christie tips on how to get the state to pay you for living in your own home and eating your own food

Have Sarah tell you how to charge tax payers to take your kids on State trips with you

Maybe you can have a trade mission to Argentina

(dey got a lotta nice girls)
You can listen to Bruce Springsteen but did you know that Ricky Nelson played to the largest crowd ever in New Jersey in the early 60's when he played to 40,000 at Atlantic City's Steel Pier?
Christie,  Great message, most other States are not far behind New Jersey in taxes.  Cap and trade--this is the worst thing I have ever heard of--does the government really believe I am going to pay taxes for something I can't smell, touch, see, hold in my hand or hang on the wall.  It won't pay my mortgage or my food bill.  NO, I think I am going to pass on this one.  Ralf
A message to the rich who criticizes Obama's taxes. I take home 32,000 a year as an architect in Boston. I would be happy to pay 60% in taxes if I made over 200,000 because I would still take home a lot more than I do now. You don't like it? Leave NYC.
Just listen to all of you, This has always been the highest property and insurance tax "STATE IN THE COUNTRY" even with Christie Whitman as your govenor, how did that work out for you!  what did she do that was so grand, last time i checked, i haven't seen anyone leaving in droves, this guy should be in prison along side "BARNEY" Madoff, with all the dirty dealings that he has going on, we don't want to end up like Alaska, the butt of all jokes.

Corzine will remain the New Jersey Govenor, and  just the fact that the venue had to be changed to a larger one, For President Obama's appearance, speaks volumes!!!
what I find interesting with the sheep  is that the battle always changes to dem or republican how about what is best for America!
Will Cap and Trade change the look of NJ Turnpike exits 13 and 14. I don't really think I could deal with those big fans and shiny panels. Christe could give some no bid contracts to G.E for them...oh wait, Obama did that already.
www.cliffyworld.com
respect like the democrats have given any sitting republican president here ill give some respect and im being nice a Chicago thug who is trying to turn the country into a socialist state  ill give some respect to the pin heads who follow the thug i hope you like the prices you will pay for your so called free health care and cap and tax plan because there is not one company that wont off set the cost to you
You folks are hilarious!!  Kudos to our President.  Rather if you're a Republican,  a Dem, or an Independent you have to admit that Barack is at least trying to get the U.S. out of this mess his predecessor left for him, for us.
Dave TN: listen to Bruce Springsteen?

Yeah because listening to people rich enough to protect themselves from liberal actions has worked out so well................ oh maybe he means the music? in that case I agree bahhahahah
---------------------------------------------------

Uh, Bruce Springsteen is a staunch supporter of Obama. And "Born in the USA" isn't the ode to jingoism that you probably think it's about.
These comments are just sad. I'm so sick of Republicans bashing Democrats and visa versa! Does anyone care about issues and rational thinking at all, instead of just 'my team is better than yours!' The polarization will be the end of us.
this video is very laughable, Bah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!

This is what everyone is so excited about, for one thing President Obama can read a teleprompter better that this bird brain!!

And he is right about one thing, president Obama will be returning back in November, and he will be alongside Gov. Corzine as he's being sworn back in, in January!!!

It speaks volumes as to why the venue had to be moved to a larger one!!

Obama Biden/Gov. Corzine 2012!!
