I live in an "assisted Care facility". I have 101 reasons to worry about this bill being passed. But when are they going to stop carping and do something?! There is a patient in the room next to me. An old loud, feisty woman with dyed Auburn hair, who constantly screams out political slogans and other nonsense when not under sedation. I sometimes think she could do a better job than the government. But then again, I doubt it.

Question: How would Obama likely respond to the passage of H.R. 1207 ("Audit the Fed") in the House?  Is the sponsors' goal of attaining a veto-proof majority even necessary?

Would you post a thread next week with a breakdown of which members of Congress receive the MOST lobbyist $$$ from the Insurance & Pharmaceutical companies?  You did that a while back in regards to who was receiving what from the banking industry.

Since the lobbyists are spending 1+ million dollars a day… I think it’s only fitting we know who’s pockets err… I mean campaign funds it’s ending up in!  

If you don’t want to post it – can you at least provide a link, website or something that we can follow? I checked around and haven’t had much luck!

I just watched the speech on Healthcare.  This administration has already achieved a significant amount of concessions.  We have to run this ball in for the touchdown.  Too much is at stake.

I know several doctors who feel it is imperative.  It is not just middle class and impoverished that want this.

How are the Democrats going to keep Barack Obama’s  promise of not raising taxes on 95% of all Americans and still pay for all these social welfare programs?

Uncle Sam can barely cover Medicaid/Mediacare/Prescription Drug Benefits now; it is bankrupt by 2017 according to the latest GAO report. Social Security makes Madoff look like Mother Theresa. Social Security is another Democrat Ponzi scheme waiting to collapse.

The Wall Street Journal wrote on 10/13/08: “One of Barack Obama's most potent campaign claims is that he'll cut taxes for no less than 95% of "working families." He's even promising to cut taxes enough that the government's tax share of GDP will be no more than 18.2% -- which is lower than it is today. It's a clever pitch, because it lets him pose as a middle-class tax cutter while disguising that he's also proposing one of the largest tax increases ever on the other 5%. But how does he conjure this miracle, especially since more than a third of all Americans already pay no income taxes at all?”

The week ahead will end the first 6 months of Obama's disastrous government control of the economy, which he "mis-read," the overtaking of GM and Chrysler and the extreme bailouts of various other companies, including major banks that are now under the government's thumb. And Obama wouldn't have it any other way.

It also continues the health care debate that will bankrupt the economy and therefore America, with all liberal extremists piling on to watch (and endorse)the ruination.

Twenty-one freshman Democratic House members have signed a letter opposing their leadership's plan to raise taxes to finance a healthcare overhaul.

Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) circulated the letter, saying that the income surtax on the wealthy would place an undue burden on small businesses, some of which pay taxes in the same way as an individual. The letter had 22 signers, all freshmen except for Rep. Paul Hodes (D-N.H.), who is in his second term.

So, that's 22 Dems against socialized healthcare. Just need 19 more (and there a lot more then that) to kill the health care bill.

When is President Obama going to ask all Americans for shared sacrifices to support the goal of reforming our broken health care system? And what form should such shared sacrifices take? Taxing the rich (with more than $250,000 a year in income)? Taxing health care benefits for the rest of us? Rewriting the law so that an independent commission can set lower Medicare payments for health care providers? Capping profit margins for insurance companies?

Everybody knows that health care costs are out of control. Other nations spend far less on health care and still have better coverage and outcomes for their people. How do we improve our system so that we can help more of our citizens as much as possible and yet not break anybody's budget or drive anyone out of business?

In short, what priorities and trade-offs does the White House see as being fair to get this job done?

Could you ask VP Joe Biden just what he meant when he said "We (being the federal government) have to spend money so we won't go bankrupt"?

The Republicans keep complaining that their ideas on health care reform are not being considered. But you reported on 7/15 that the HELP committee's proposal included 160 Republican amendments - that sounds bipartisan to me! Can you please explain why the Republicans keep saying they're being excluded in these negotiations?

I know I'm too late to get this in before the Monday refresh, but here goes anyway.

I've been in consulting meetings for the past two days, so I've missed all of the fun here, but I do have one question.  Is MSNBC going to give Pat Buchannon the HEAVE-HO?!  His balistic tirade on Rachel Maddow Thursday (and on Hardball Wednesday), was more than mere punditry.  It was pure, unbridled racism.  Buchannon truly showed his bigotry, and I could tell that Rachael was genuinely uncomfortable Thursday.  My heart goes out to her since she has spoken of him as her mentor.  Of course there can be legitimate differences in opinion regarding race, and affirmative action.  But when those differences manifest themselves in the kind of hatred and bigotry that Buchannon displayed Thursday, then it is time for someone to say ENOUGH!  MSNBC should no longer give this obvious bigot a platform to spread his hatred.

I watched the health care news conference-confirmed my fears-this guy is an idealogue.  The CBO numbers?   never came up.  Reality never intrudes on the ivory tower.

I've tried at least two times to convey what is wrong with this presidency by listing ways I object to objections listed in the Declaration of Independence; Jonathan-why don't you give it a try.  It might get through.

Hope my fiscal conservative friends have a good weekend.  Hope the libbies have to put up with rain and mosquitoes!!!

OBAMA-NOMICS - the reason American just won't "wake up" as you ask, is that you're just plain wrong about all the socialism/fascism stuff.  In fact, it's pretty silly to make those charges.

Yesterday, I saw the true face of our nation's lack of universal health care.  Our church held a free health fair for anyone in the community who wanted to attend.  We had nurses and medical students checking people for diabetes, blood pressure, sight, hearing, dental problems, breathing problems, etc.  Many of the people who came to us had not been able to afford to see a doctor for years and of these, a large percentage discovered that they had serious undiagnosed medical conditions.    Luckily, we were able to refer many of these people to social agencies that could offer them some help.  
Those who came to us for help were not just lazy or idle.  For the most part, they were the working poor or people who could not afford medical care or those who had lost their health insurance.  It seems criminal to me that, in a nation as rich as ours is (even in a recession) that people are suffering and dying needlessly of treatable diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc.,  simply because they cannot afford the necessary care that could alleviate or cure their conditions.  Over 46, 000,000 of our fellow citizens find themselves in this predicament.  Ours is the only industrialized nation in the world that allows this to happen.  Surely the time has come when we can change things for the better and help those who are in such desperate need.

Are we gonna trust the same government that runs a failed and evil military to run a healthcare system?  America has lost every war it has fought in the last 70 years.  We got our asses kicked in Korea, we LOST Vietnam, and the Iraqis kicked our asses.  The government runs a military that actually teaches rape as a tool, and we want to put the same minds in charge of healthcare?  NO THANKS!
