Baucus to vote for Sotomayor

From NBC's Mark Murray
Earlier today, we clipped a piece from The Hill that quoted Senate Finance Committee Max Baucus (D) -- whose work on health care so far has frustrated some liberal Democrats -- saying he had "no idea" whether he'll vote for Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor.

“I haven’t paid any attention and I haven’t announced," he told the Capitol Hill publication. "I’ve been so busy with health care. It’s under consideration. I’ll certainly know when I vote, but right now I can’t tell you.”

Well, he's now telling us -- he's voting for her.

"I have long said that to be a Supreme Court Justice a person must meet three main criteria: personal integrity, professional competence, and a view of important issues that is within the mainstream of contemporary judicial thought," Baucus said in a statement. "After personally meeting Judge Sotomayor, thoroughly analyzing her judicial record, and reviewing her nomination hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Judge Sotomayor unquestionably meets each of these criteria. Thus, I am proud to support her nomination and will vote to confirm her as a Justice to the United States Supreme Court.”

That’s why I insist on putting documentation out here as much as possible. I do commend First Read for speaking out against the Glenn Beck latest round of garbage.

On the other hand I have noticed how the Professor Gates incident was played up to the max. I even noticed that Sgt. Crowley's remarks following the informal cocktail invitation at the white house was set up as a press conference.

When Professor Gates emerged from the meeting...he didn't get the press coverage that Sgt. Crowley got. I am so grateful that both men handled the situation in a classy manner. What's really classy about the professor...he's not suing the Cambridge Police Department for false arrest. Now that's classy.

It would be nice to see some REAL love for a change...wouldn't it? Shout out to Rachel Maddow for continuing to keep it real! Shout out to the ED Show! Countdown! And Hardball! Morning Joe...take a hike, you keep letting that corpse, and Pat Buchanan represents your moral base.

Hell it's the least he can do! Max, how about shaking loose some of the insurance company’s money you've been stuffing your coffers with?

HCR NOW!! Publician Option is a MUST!!!

About time that Bozo Baucus gets his act together by voting for Sotomayor.  Maybe he's starting to get some heat from Liberals and he's decided he'd better placate us on Sotomayor if he's going to peeve us off on the public option for health care reform.  He's been bought out by big medical and big insurance and he had better realize that they may give him a lot of money, but Liberals will give him more votes.

Confirm Sotomayor Now!
I so love how Anita, Pat, Feisty and Beverly are attracting so much negative attention from the sore losers who post here and are worried people are believing your truths over their lies.  So funny how the limpwristed conservative crybabies pick on Liberal women instead of picking on us Liberal men.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for the shout out Eric!  I too have noticed that spirited - free thinking - intelligent woman scare the sh*t out of the whack jobs around here!
To them I say…Bring it on… I’m not going away anytime soon!
In Eric, Salinas, CA We Trust ;0)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Fiesty, Anita, Clara, Ron, Nash, Jawillie, Eric, Jody and everyone else I missed...thank you for fighting the good fight.

Thanks to you for the shout out as well Greg (I keep hitting submit too fast).  You hold your own around here!  I enjoy your posts (hope you didn’t mind me reposting your idea about not giving the DNC another red cent until a public option is included in the HCR)
But I thought it was good enough to repeat!
Good, Now go tell your insurance backers that you are pressured to insert the Public Option.  Perhaps they will give you more money.

Senator, you may be powerful to chair the Finance Committee, but a majority of Americans want the public option.
Bev in Chicago

You can join Juan in that row boat back to Cuba.

The insanity in both of you plus Anita is overwhelming.
Clunkers = Anita, Feisty, Bev, and Anna.
Well, we Democrats are SO GRATEFUL that you decided to join us Max, you all important kingpin you.
You know all those polls that say Americans aren't happy with the healthcare plan that Obama is pushing?  Could it be because all we keep hearing is that the public option is no longer on the table?
All of you no name, chicken s#it, low life relthugliklans make me sick. Your posts are absolutely juvenile. I've been ignoring your brain farts for a long time now and it appears to me that you are nothing more than school children with no adult supervision. Does is make you feel better to pick on women? Do you feel superior when you call them names on here? Not a one of you have the backbone to put your real name to your posts. You can't even identify what part of the country you're from. Someone please put these brats down for their nap.
FR:
I agree with the regulars on here; you really need to do something different with regard to imposters and who gets posted and who doesn't and when the cut off for posting on a article. I appreciate this site and read here everyday. How about upgrading this forum to the current century.
To all of my fellow supporters of our President; I say thank you for the past week and have a safe and wonderful weekend.
What kind of bull was that he's a Democrat I thought and this should give the rest ofyou the hint sorry Hillary nut your supporters need to get off of you not winning the Primaries for President Obama was elected and this show's that some of the people who are holding up his White House agenda's are showing their real hands.

Max...do the right thing.  Help craft a HCR bill with the public in mind.  The public option is what we want and if you listen to your big insurance company donors you will single handedly sabotage the best opportunity that we've had in years to provide health care insurance for everyone.  This is essential and, if you take your blinders off (and ignore the lobbyists) you will be instrumental in revolutionizing health care as well as the health of the private sector in this country.  Max, try to remember why you became a public official in the first place...it was to serve the public, wasn't it?

HEY    FIRST READ   .......

Are you guys still awake? WTF is going on here today? Anita's post gets put on 5 times to start this one off? Now it looks like Ivoted is on a roll. Do any of you pay any attention at all to what you put on here?
Between the juvenile imposters, not knowing if what one writes will ever make it on here and when the cut-off for posting is, you're making it increasing difficult to remain a loyal reader. If it weren't for the FirstRate contributions from Feisty, Ron, Pat, Clara, Anita, Eric, dem soldier, etc...not sure how many more names to add because I can't tell who the real "who" is anymore, I would look for another venue to satisfy my political cravings. Please give this some thought Chuck, Mark, Domenico and Ali; and clean this up. PLEASE! Have a nice weekend FR.
Why would there even be a question? Does he receive as much in bribes from the anti-Hispanic lobby as he does from the health care cartel?
Shame on you Senator Baucus, perhaps you should go back to your old job as the voice for Mr. Magoo...
I think Sotamayor will be a Great Judge.  Senator Baucus....thanks for clarifying.

On the Cash For Clunkers Debate, I cannot believe the majority in that poll you do does not want the automakers to succeed yet.....we all rolled over when the Banks were bailed out.  I did my Cash For Clunker thing last month.  I called it...."MY G.M. for Foreign Car Trade Deal."  LOVE my Chevy.

On all my programs on MSNBC, I will be getting my Cable Channel back September 1st, just in time to watch the Healthcare Craziness rachet up.  Keep up the good work....to all of you - Chris, Keith, Rachel, David, Ed and yes...even You...Joe Scarborough.
all americans should turn their flashers/emergency lights on while driving during daylight hours on every wednseday in august to show their support for a single payer health care plan. this visual show of support on our nations roads will catch on big time and by the third week of august you would have to be totally uncool not to participate. it will give all americans a chance to make a difference by getting involved
