Palin's AK poll numbers take nosedive

After her resignation from office, a plurality of Alaskans now have a negative view of Sarah Palin, according to a Hays Research Group poll conducted July 29-30. (Hat tip: Political Wire.)

In the poll, 48% see her negatively, versus 47% who view her positively.

In May 2008 -- before Palin was selected as John McCain's running mate -- the same Hays Research poll had her positive rating at 86%, and in May 2009 it dropped to 54%. Now it's 47%.

The new Hays poll was taken of 400 Alaskans, and it has a margin of error of plus-minus 4.9 percentage points.

I wanna say something positive about Sarah Palin:

As a mother of two, any woman who can raise FIVE kids while keeping her figure and sense of humor can't be ALL bad! :)

Now I don't want her anywhere NEAR government, but I think if she takes a little time and finds herself a non-combative niche where she could use her offbeat style to entertain and enlighten instead of accuse and divide, she could really be a positive instead of devisive force in America.

Here's hoping.

I know that the health care reform plans that are being considered are FAR from perfect, but the system we have now is bankrupting and killing millions of people a year - we HAVE to do better.

The sample N of 400 is kinda small, but the margin of error of 4.9 suggests a significant drop. In the political world, it's a long, long time till 2012. A lot can happen.

With boring, Romney, Palenty, Huckabee, Gingrich; she could be the throw-away candidate to face Obama. By then the economy will be on the upswing, and Obama will beat her like a drum.

How Sweet It is that Quitter Palin is seeing her base of support quit her. I wonder how long before she realizes that she's yesterday's news? Probably never because she's too absorbed in herself to notice what others think. Still I hope it brings a few tears to her eyes as she sees how she's becoming the most hated woman in the lower 48.

I got a good laugh the other day when at the store and saw one of the tabloids turn on her by touting a big headline that she resigned because she had an affair. Really funny because the tabloids are right wing nonsense and if they're turning on her then she's toast, burnt toast.

I ncan see why she's turned into a twitter twit since she can't put together anything long without sounding totally clueless. I so love how William Shatner is mocking her words by using them for beat poetry readings on late night shows. Beam her up Scotty because she's not intelligent life!

How could anyone view Sarah Palin negatively? She has done as much as any single individual to help the economy by becoming an industry onto herself. Let her run, I find amusement every time she opens her mouth.
Her last two rants - sans teleprompters to prove she's better than the president - have given hope to out-of-work English teachers the world over.

Few people live in Alaska by comparison so getting out from under that beautiful scenery was a must.

It seems to me that what's dropping is the number of people who are surveyed to do an actual "poll". 400 people? What's next, they'll just ask three people at a convenience store and flash the numbers on the screen?

Polls have become absolute garbage any more. Again, I think any article that reports the "results" of a poll should have a .pdf attachment of the actual poll so readers can see what the questions really were.

In all sincerity, poor Sarah Palin has become the end result of John McCain's terribly poor judgement and
obession with winning the Presidential race last year.
We all need to just quietly let her sail into the sunset. Hopefully, despite her anger and resentment for everyone, she will dedicate herself to at least being a good, devoted mother to her children, especially Trig who she bounced around from one end of this country to the other last fall for her own personal gain. Also, maybe this will give her time to
work on her marriage which must be suffering from all of this negative media and personal exposure. I do not like her at all, as a woman or a politician, but I
do hope for the best for her family.

If you are an animal lover, then you should never support Sarah Palin. She killed 1,000 wolves by aerial shooting in Alaska and hand-grenaded the wolf cub dens to kill the wolf pups to. This is reason enough to feel that she is a predator. She tried to justify it by saying the wolves are predators, but wolves can become extinct thanks to Sarah Palin. I think wolves are beautiful and have a right ot live and thrive. Let nature take its course, I say. Sarah Palin is over-dramatic and not someone I would trust.

That's because oncc she was finished with the Presidential/Vice Presidential run, the Democrats in the Alaskan state government were instructed to not work with her at all! That is why her numbers went down and why she resigned from office. Nothing was getting done because the Dems put their selfish motives above the Alaskan peoples and she wouldn't allow that to happen. Let me guess, none of you knew that right?

This poll has a margin of error of +/- 4.9 points...which means that Mr. Murray's analysis is ABSOLUTELY MEANINGLESS!!! He should know better - this is terrible journalism, and should be viewed as an embarassment to MSNBC. Shame on you for purposely misrepresenting statistics (and the people they reflect) in order to forge a story!
