Corzine camp keeps up Christie loan hits

From NBC’s Ali Weinberg
After revelations surfaced last week that New Jersey Republican gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie did not disclose a $46,000 loan he gave to a high-level staffer, the campaign of Christie’s opponent, Jon Corzine, today "continued to insinuate that there is an improper relationship" between Christie and the staffer, current First Assistant U.S. Attorney Michele Brown.

State Sen. Loretta Weinberg, running as Corzine's lieutenant governor, urged the U.S. Attorney's Office to remove Brown from the process of retrieving some of Christie's documents, like travel expenses and daily calendars, requested by the Corzine campaign through the Freedom of Information Act.

"Based on what we already know and on today's report by the AP that Christie is refusing to answer who he's still in contact with at the U.S. Attorney's office and how informed he is about day-to-day activities there, we are simply saying we need someone not caught up in this controversy to work on the FOIA requests,” Weinberg said, per PolitickerNJ.

Deeds’ new ad
Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds released an ad on Friday echoing a speech he delivered intended to reframe his campaign in terms of "backwards-forwards," where Republican Bob “McDonnell will take the state back, Deeds will take it forward."

The ad says Deeds will continue the "pro-business economic policies Mark Warner put in place, and not go backwards by embracing the failed economic policies of George W. Bush."

On the campaign trail, Deeds frequently mentions the record of DNC Chairman and former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat whose success among conservative Southern Virginia voters Deeds hopes to mimic. But Deeds has had to walk a fine line between channeling Kaine’s gubernatorial legacy and over-aligning himself with Kaine’s position in the national party.

“Privately, some [Deeds campaign officials] say they realize it's not always politically beneficial for Deeds to be associated with [Kaine],” the Washington Post writes. “Kaine's popularity rating remains above 50 percent but is waning, and his position as party chairman brings with it the burdens of a national party that voters are viewing with increasing skepticism.” And “nationally, Democrats will be counting on Kaine to deliver his own state and provide a political boost to President Obama. If he can't manage that, many will wonder how effective a chairman he can be.”

A recent Washington Post poll found McDonnell with a lead over Deeds among likely voters, 54%-39%, and a smaller lead among all voters, 47%-40%. Columnist Josh Goodman writes that Deeds leads among unlikely voters: “The results, based on my calculations, are 42 percent for Deeds, 31 percent for McDonnell and 27 percent undecided. So Deeds enjoys a double-digit lead among those unlikely voters. That to me is the strongest indication yet that Virginia Democrats are unmotivated this year.”

Goodman says the biggest challenge for Deeds “is persuading people who are predisposed to think he will make the best governor to actually vote. Getting unlikely voters to the polls isn’t impossible, but it is, well, unlikely.”

Deeds and McDonnell will participate in a debate Oct. 12th in Richmond organized by the League of Women Voters of Virginia and AARP Virginia. The Peoples Debate will feature an online component allowing voters to submit their own questions to the candidates. We are very excited to give the average Virginian a voice in this debate,” League President Olga Hernandez said. The debate will be moderated by PBS’s Judy Woodruff.

"Mo - shyster - the three examples you gave were beauts. A wacko let out of jail - what would happen if a Gitmo detainee were let out and causes havoc? I would hope the government would get taken to task. And a wicca symbol allowed on a gravestone, now that's really socking it to the government. If you remember, I asked YOU, how many times you beat the government in court. Way to stay on the subject, counselor...

Whoa there, let's watch it with the anti-Semitic language, shall we?  There's simply no need for that here.

Onto the point, you implied that the federal government could not be beat in court.  I gave you three very quick examples of the federal government being beat in court.  Attack them as you will, but your point was, quite simply, wrong.

Moving on to your fallacious ad hominem attacks, I've never sued the federal government.  I'm not a plaintiffs' attorney and really have no reason to sue the federal government.  I'm afraid you'll need to come up with another red herring.

PS - It's "councilor" or "counsellor," not "counselor."
We would rather go back to a dirty BUSH guy than a democrat sounds stupid but its happing with the medias help Republicans constanly steal and loan money thats thier right. Just turn your hatred of black people into a vote for republicans its what they are counting on
The desperation in the Corzine campaign is palpable.  Improper relationship? Like the one he had with Carla Katz, you mean?  I guess he ditched the idea of making fun of Christie's weight.

Deeds is just as desperate.  From the polls I've seen, his own mother won't be voting for him.  He also has the unenviable task of trying to separate himself from Obama.

Meanwhile, a new Mason Dixon poll shows that Harry Reid is losing his re election bid.  Mason Dixon polled him against two republicans, and he loses by double digits against both.  His approval numbers are in the dumpster, which is probably why-but Obama is not too popular in Nevada, either...look it up, Nashville.  Just put 'mason dixon polls' into google.  It's easy.
That's it. That's what Corzine has on Christie. A two-bit low-level iffy at best corruption charge. This from a man (Corzine) who's state is oozing in corruption and that makes Illinois look virtuous in comparison.

Good luck with that Jon.

Will Deeds be using the samed failed economic policies of the Barack H. Obama?
Jody, Iowa (Sent Monday, August 24, 2009 12:05 PM):  “E.J. Dionne has a good op ed in the Wash Post today about how Pres Obama kept this country from going over the cliff yet because we didn't go over, he is getting little credit just plenty of criticism from the right.  Good article.”

Absolute rubbish.  Obama’s ‘invisible achievement’ that Dionne mentions with regard to helping save the world from economic catastrophe is invisible because there is no policy for which Obama can reasonably take credit in this matter.

The only action Obama took was the $797B fiscal stimulus package of social policy and pork that he rammed through Congress.  And as we all know, that was a program that was designed to play out over an 18-24 month period, and to date only about 15% of those funds have been spent.  So, no way can anyone reasonably argue that spending about $120 billion saved a $14 trillion US economy or an even larger global economy.  That’s laughable on it’s face.

No, the heavy lifting in this crisis was done by the Federal Reserve with its aggressive and innovative monetary policies and the Treasury with the TARP program.  Of course, the Fed is politically independent and not subject to orders from Obama or any other President, and the TARP program was created on Bush’s watch so Obama had precious little to do with the any of these initiatives.

The heat Obama is taking from the right is well deserved because his fiscal stimulus was a wasteful boondoggle that has created precious few jobs.  But what the hey, don’t let the facts stand in the way of the liberal media fawning over the prowess of the Great One.
Hope the President is enjoying his vacation. He earned it.

"Earned" implies someone has done something succuessful or have in some way earned their keep. Care to list a few of Obama's accomplishments and/or successes?
What happened to the massive world wide "Bird Flu" scare last year?
Look out, the sky would be falling.......
Wash your hands often, get your yearly flu shot, take two asprins and mail me the $5.
Truth Be Told

This will quickly be followed by the Obama flu. That's where someone that catches it has an inflated self-worth of themselves.
I have another bone to pick with the garbage E.J. Dionne wrote this morning.  He makes the point that “if governments around the world, including our own, had not acted aggressively – and had not spent piles of money – a very bad economic situation would have become cataclysmic.  But because the cataclysm was avoided, this is an invisible achievement.”

What he’s basically arguing is that in the absence of appropriate economic policies things would have gotten a lot worse, but since things didn’t actually get a lot worse it’s hard to prove they would have.  OK, I can accept that Federal Reserve and Treasury policies were instrumental in saving us from disaster (note that Obie had little to do with either).  But change the president and change the issue, and take a look at what we have.

The Bush folks would say that their policies on terrorism were instrumental in protecting this country from additional attacks after 9/11.  But it’s just as impossible to prove that case as it is to prove the economy was saved.  What’s interesting is that lefties not only reject the Bush argument, they scoff at it.  Their dislike for the man overpowers any sensible consideration of the effect that his policies had on keeping us safe since 9/11.

But this is how Dionne and the left operate.  They will use arguments when those arguments support their views, but reject those same arguments when they expose an inconvenient truth they disagree with.  That’s why it’s so funny to see the way the lefties around here rant at examples of so-called ‘hypocrisy’ by the Republicans.  Lefties have been masters at that sort of thing for years.  Thanks for reminding us, E.J.
Looks like Holder has appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the CIA. Leon must be so pleased.

So much for stopping terriorist attacks. The Community Organizer is attempting to distract attention from his failed health care plan and appease his liberal left. We wave a gun or fire it in another cell and they cut our guys head off and wave it on TV. Obama will bear personal responsibility for any future attacks.
The Rethugs will do anything to gain power and promote their party to the detriment of the good citizens of Virginia. McDonnell will only continue the backward thinking Bushwacked policies and that of the last Rethug, Jim Gilmore.

The times are too perilous to take a chance on McDonnell.
Can anyone understand what kenn is saying?
Take heart Republicans...at least this one had an affair with a woman...we were getting tired of the anti gay crowd turning out to be gay and the morality crowd turning out not to be immoral.

Not much insight into the "minds" of the people you list. Just think socialists and you identified 98% of what they are all about.

[I am facing down a growing sense of panic that these are the people currently running the government.]

And you would be correct. But now that jig is up and everyone is getting up to speed on Obama and company are all about.
Mr Corzine, behind in the polls, is unable to run on his record so he must resort to attacking his opponent.

It seems rather ludicrous for Mr Corzine to be attacking Mr Christie over loans since it was loans Mr Corzine made to Karla Katz the former leader of the State Employees union that got Mr Corzine in trouble.

Those that live in glass houses should not throw stones, just as those that have failed to deliver on their promises once elected should not run for reelection.

Mr Corzine promised not to raise taxes, yet taxes have gone up.

Mr Corzine promised the sales tax increase would fund property tax rebates. Rebates are being scaled back yet the sales tax increase remains.

Mr Corzine promised to use his experience at Goldman Sachs to reform state spending, yet spending is still out of control.

Mr Corzine promised to end budget gimmicks, yet the state pension funds are still not receiving full contributions.

Mr Corzine put on a show of dealing tough with out of control state employee unions, then essentially caved in at the last minute.

Mr Corzine promised honest leadership, yet corruption in New Jersey is rampant.

Mr Corzine ran a negative campaign to win his office, now he must be even more negative in his attempt to deceive voters once again into giving him another term.
