Bauer to call for Sanford's resignation

From NBC's Mark Murray
On a day when all other political news is going to be buried by Ted Kennedy's passing, South Carolina Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer (R) is going to make a statement at noon ET -- in which he'll call for Gov. Mark Sanford (R) to resign, the AP reports.

"South Carolina's lieutenant governor will ask embattled Gov. Mark Sanford to resign at a news conference Wednesday, a spokesman said. Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer will agree to stay out of next year's governor's race if Sanford steps down, an offer he first made in June after his fellow Republican admitted a yearlong affair with an Argentine woman."

It's not the adultery that worries me... it's the stupidity and arrogance of any man who thinks, in this day and age, that he could "get away with it" and continue to serve in politics.

That, and his ridiculous Republican ideology, that is.

This article is the perfect metaphor for my response to Bill, since he is speaking of hypocrisy AND all - isn't Ensign just the PERFECT Repub?

"...Suppose information surfaced that showed Bush or Cheney had been responsible for the death of one of their girlfriends when they were young men. Can you imagine the screams of moral outrage that would be coming from the leftists on this board?  Yet we know this is precisely the case with Ted Kennedy.  But the lefties brush aside that inconvenient truth as they fall all over themselves offering praise to the Lion of the Senate.

I guess moral outrage is a relative concept to these folks.  If the transgression was committed by someone with similar political views, well then we're just looking at a minor flaw that must be considered within the totality of a man's life.  But if the transgression is committed by someone they oppose politically, well that's another matter entirely.  Then it just provides them with a boatload of damning ammunition to go after the miscreant.

Hypocrisy, thy name is leftist."  Bill, Fairfax, VA (Sent Wednesday, August 26, 2009 11:02 AM)

Your hypberbole is such a fallacy.  What about the MEN that Bush and Cheney are responsible for THEIR deaths?  You pretty much just steamroll to stupid from that sentence, so - I won't bother.
How would Sanford's resignation get health care coverage for one more family? How would Sanford's resignation feed one hungrey child?
In other news as well as this one regarding Governor Sanford, it appears President Obama is making great strides over in the Middle East.

Andre? That's some kind of a French name isn't it?
Jeez Gov. Sanford who has done what most of them have or Bauer?  What would he do?  Check his background during office - it is less than pristine!  Drink, drive and get stopped for speeding and charge the officer - not once but twice like before?  I'd rather have Gov. Sanford
Yes... PLEASE resign scumbag Sanford!

You've done more than enough to EMBARASS the crap out of your wife, children and the people of SC

Your Argentinian soul mate awaits... that's if she hasn't figured out by now what a hypocritical family values man you REALLY are!

Nothing would be finer than for her to kick your sorry white butt to the curb!
oops, My bad, I hate it when speed gets in the way of a good rant.  I mentioned Ensign and I should have said Sanford - The pool is rich with examples of Republican Hypocrisy samples - I 'acted' too quickly!

My sentiment is without remorse, however!
Gov. Sanford should have resigned at his original press conference. He knew he used tax payer money to travel to Argentina! He violated not only his families trust but the tax payers of S. Carolina. All the while wearing his Promise Keepers Moral Superiority cape!
Sanford's resigning would be the only way Andre Bauer will ever be governor.  Hopefully, there aren't enough idiots in this state to actually elect him if he were to run.  But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if there were.  That (R) or (D) after the name seems to be all people here ever appear to look at.
It's not the adultery that worries me... it's the stupidity and arrogance of any man who thinks, in this day and age, that he could "get away with it" and continue to serve in politics.

Casey - Ca

We talking about Sanford, or Ted?
About bloody time.

The man has shown repeatedly no respect for his family, his constituents and his state, ethics, or morality.

His leaving the country without letting anyone know  the truth of his whereabouts, his lies, misuse of the state plane for his own personal use, and his repeated tv conferences demonstrates his irrationality and lack of fitness for public office.

He should have been impeached some time ago....

Ah, but time moves more slowly down south....
Go, in the name of God, just go!
Gee, I wonder if Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer (R) doesn't have designs on the governorship for himself earlier than he might otherwise get it.

One can but wonder how squeeky clean Bauer is, if he is. He might be more hypocritical than Sanford if he is asking Sanford to resign and then does stuff of his own that wouldn't merit the advancement to Governor. If so, I would not be a bit surprised.
Bauer did WHAT?  Hey, maybe he'll be like Robert Vaughn's character in "Bullitt"!  Just a total pain in Lt. Bullitt's @ss, then drives away at the end in a limo with a bumper sticker advising you to support your local police!

How does Obama's expensive vacation in the midst of one of the highest unemployment rates in US history feed any hungry kids other than Sasha and Malia?

Enjoy your vacation Barack. Don't let 7+ million unemployed and thousands of home foreclosures and business bankruptcies trouble you.
Listen up Democrats!
Obama is going down in flame and you need something to get the news media onto another topic.

Obama will go down as a bad president and won't get healthcare through.  Let's not talk about ideology!
Feisty, nothing can be finer than to see him "out of" Carolina in the morning! lol, lol, lol
It sure seems that when the Republiklans are the ones with there willie hanging where it shouldn't be they claim it was just a mistake, and that they are trying to change there cheating ways,or Like Ensign and his parents paying the woman hush money to save there little Adulterer, saying Clinton was worse,Please, you do the same thing and try to say someone else is worst, thats rich. Sanford and Ensing where the ones beating the republiklan drum about bad Clinton was when they get caught it is some how not a big deal.As long as they go back to C street with the rest of there fake Christians, who bow the the Lord of Dollars, and worship the Holly Green back.
South Carolina is quickly becoming the Chicago or New Jersey of the south. However, instead of corruption, they lead the nation in ignorance... Intelligent design, anyone? I'm not making this stuff up - they teach it in their schools. It's no wonder the Argentinian A$$man is still in orifice, oops, I mean office...
Recently, when driving thru SC it was markedly obvious how little money has been spent on the upkeep of their interstate medians. They were, once, along with NC one of the prettiest parts of driving north along I-95.
Now, in SC, as you cross state lines, there are weeds growing thru the cracks, overgrown grass where once were flowerbeds filled with canna lilies, and wild flowers grew in abundance.   All the money wrongly spent by Governor Sanford could have helped in this area and would have provided employment for some of SC citizens.  I am sure there are other areas of neglect that the money could have helped.  The interstate roads are a disgrace, if he truly cared about the state, he would have made sure funds were available to correct the situation.   He needs to go, he doesn't care about anything - his wife and family, his state and its citizens only his own selfish needs.
I've only have two words for the myopic gaurdians of moral decency, BILL CLINTON.
"That, and his ridiculous Republican ideology, that is."

cough - Clinton - cough...

Quit bashing Republicans when the Demo's have done it as well
Just in time. Gov. Sanford will now have the opportunity and freedom to connect with his real political soulmate and ice woman, Sarah Palin.  An unstoppable duo of far right nuttiness that will prove to be a double helping of pablum for the radio talkmeisters...not tot mention a great 2012 ticket for the GOP.  Go for it, Mark!

The same way George Bush's Vacations helped the 'fight against Terrorism'
Goerge Bush went to John McCain's birthday party while New Orleans was drowning

And kept reading 'My Little Billy Goat' in the wake of the 9/11 attacks

IDIOT !!
the morally bankrupt super minority fear mongering and at times just bat-sh*t crazy republican party is and has always been the party of fat old rich white men that believe they are above any and all laws and care only about retaining power from the masses to distribute wealth to the few.
which is why i say....DEATH TO THE GOP!
Come on folks, The governor deserves a second chance. Yes, he was wrong to have this affair, but he was wrong to have a marriage with a women he never did love. It takes two to have a marriage of convenience.  Moreover, Jenny Sanford knew of the governor's infidelity and tried to cover it up.  How innocent is she really?  Let the governor finish his term and he can forget reelection!
Fiesty, So Sanford is worse than John Edwards? You really are pathetic.
"July New Home Sales Jump 9.6%"  reads the headline.  QUICK!  Someone change the subject to "Communists" or "2nd ammendment rights" or "birth certificates" or some kind of nonsense so we can mis-direct attention away from a sliver of GOOD news this dismal, gloomy day!!
I gues Bauer isn't a member of "The Family".  Otherwise he'd close ranks around him like the rest of that sleazy bunch of "religious conservatives."
It is about time that this was being done!
Goddamn idiot needs to resign, cheating on his wife, using OUR money to feed his need for sex with some foreign entity, I hope that he does not have ANY security clearance for is should be pulled for his dalliances....
Mark and his friends will say and do anything to propel them where they want to be.  They have hurt a lot of people in SC.  Marco and his friends all need to go away.  They do not care about SC.
Seems to be that you got a little off track there...talking about teaching things in South Carolina.  The problem is that it doesn't matter if politicians are Republican or Democrat--they are screwing up.  When are we going to get some good ones in.  People thought Obama would save the world...that should of been the first clue things were going to go wrong.  And Sanford that is an even more interesting story--he needs to go so we can get on with things.
Lol @ Sanford. How does he still have a job? Typically if you're a no show to work so you can go boing your Argentinian mistress, you lose your job. I guess not if you're a GOP governor.
Maybe he can get a gig on Dancing with the Stars? That seems to be where disgraced republicans go these days to earn a few bucks.
Mark Sanford should resign first. The next thing the man should do is to seek some type of mental help. The man has some type of mental problem. I  really feel sorry for his wife she is a class act and he does not deserve her.
St. E:  You were also feeling that way about Bush's constant vacations, right, like when he was warned about the 9/11 attacks, and flew over a major city that had been wiped out by Hurricane?  See, I just don't remember you expressing your outrage then.
St. Eleutherius of Nicomedia (Sent Wednesday, August 26, 2009 12:45 PM)

***************************************************

You are kidding right?

George W. Bush spent nearly a third of his presidency on clearing brush while two wars were raging (one illegal and based on lies)and thousands of troops were being slaughtered in Irag and now you make a big deal about vacations!

Grow a pair!
If he misused state funding, he should go.

Otherwise, there is no reason to resign.  Defeat him at the polls if he runs again.
Give this guy a break would you, at least he's gonna try and fall back in love with his wife. Maybe that was contingent on the job, who knows. Oh well, he can always become a preacher, in Argentina. Fare Thee Well Governor..
Well of course the Lt. Gov. wants him impeached - how is that call for getting yourself a nice promotion.  Guess we will just have to see how sandford tarnishes his brand in SC.  most repugnants now think it is ok to commit adultry and have ever since they elected the greatest adulterer - ronnie reagun, so it is no surprise that adultry is no longer a big sin on their list.
Enough is enough Governor Sanford.  You were overwhelmingly supported by Democrats and Republicans alike after you took office.  You were supported by the people of South Carolina in the face of the big spenders in Washington.  Your administrative performance, in lieu of a tight state budget was better than the last several governors.  But ethically and professionally, you failed to hold the line.  You violated security procedures by leaving the state with your whereabouts unknown, and you based your actions on half truths and lies.  You abandoned your family and even now you show little or no intention of returning to them.  For the past several months, South Carolina Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians and Independents have closed ranks in your defense; not for you to remain as governor, but for you to exit gracefully so that the business and operation of this state can proceed without shadows of doubt and criticism from outside.  Now is the time.
Governor Sanford, if you are reading this, would you, please kindly resign? Your family is not the only one embaressed about this. As a christian I am  embaressed too. Please, do something else with your abilities. Leasership is not for man who can not control their spirit. Besides, I do not want to be forced to vote for a candidate of the democractic party on the account of my lack of confidence in you ability to resist the temptation to abuse power. America is getting enough of that already.More manly than crying about a shorcoming, is to accept responsility for a wrong action. Would you, please, let someone else do the governing. Respectfully yours.
why should he resign....
did kennedy!
did clinton!

Going down in flames...in 7 months?? Seriously?? WHY are you SO ANXIOUS for a president to fail? Do you not see that any failure will be that of the country, not just one man? Your anger needs to be put on a shelf somewhere so that you can use all of this energy to DO SOMETHING GOOD FOR YOUR COUNTRY instead of just wishing failure for us all.

How does Obama's expensive vacation in the midst of one of the highest unemployment rates in US history feed any hungry kids other than Sasha and Malia?

I am finding you more offensive with each post you present. So I guess that Bush took a whole month off must have pissed you off back then. Right?
This "man" left his post as governor, for goodness sakes! It was a flaky reason that he gave for leaving the government post he was elected to and it should not have been a secret as he is an elected official. He's making this a case of "excuse me for my adultry" instead of what everyone is forgetting which is he took off and left his post.  That's a dispicable action and people should be writing in for his impeachment since he doesn't want to resign on his own.  End of story; again, it has nothing to do with his act of adultry - that's not the cause. The FACT is that he took off and left his post. That's enough to impeach ANYONE from a maggot to a flea. There you go! Write in, write in, write in and get going to all lawmakers. This guy's got to go!
