Deeds camp airs radio ad on thesis

From NBC's Mark Murray
In the race for Virginia governor, Creigh Deeds (D) is now airing a tough radio ad in Virginia that seizes on Bob McDonnell's (R) 1989 graduate-student thesis at what is now Regent University.

Here's the script...
Female: You startin' to follow this Governor's race in Virginia?
Male: You mean Bob McDonnell and his plans to take us back to the dark ages?
F: That's McDonnell – he opposes a woman's right to choose even in cases of rape and incest.
M: And that Washington Post story about the thesis he wrote at CBN University…
F: …Pat Robertson’s Law School ?
M: Yep, it's Bob McDonnell’s “blueprint” to implement HIS OWN social agenda...
F: …and he wasn't just a kid when he wrote it -- McDonnell was 34 years old, married, and months away from serving in the legislature.
M: I know, and the really scary part, is the Post said McDonnell has aggressively pursued over 10 proposals from his thesis as a legislator.
F: He said day care is a bad idea because it encourages women to work...no birth control for married adults...and opposed equal pay for women...
M: Those are protections even Fortune 500 companies give their employees.
F: There’s just too much at stake...we can’t afford to let Bob McDonnell take us back.
CD: I’m Creigh Deeds, candidate for Governor, and my campaign sponsored this ad.

I LOVE it!

I wish we had these 'brass balls {or bras}' writing the Healthcare Reform ads!

But I tend to get a little snarky when people try to undermine the MAJORITY rules part of our Constitution.
Say it ain't so! (Sent Thursday, September 03, 2009 1:03 PM)

If someone cold cocks me on a public street and then tries to read me the riot act, while wagging ANY body part in my face - you are DAMN straight I will bite it off.  I am so sick of these 'aggressors' acting like they can walk all over those who don't behave that way.  If a debate devolves to physical violence I will ABSOLUTELY defend myself.  That is MY right!
Well, at least, his thesis is accessible. Have you seen Obama's yet??????   No!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who ever runs against Obama in 2012 should read his thesis. Might be hard to get though, so maybe just start with printing Obama grades first.
Republicans should put together a video of how Democrats treat women. Show how the Democrats  treated Palin, Bachmann, and Hillary. Show Ted's speech after Chappaquiddick and after his nephews trial for rape. Show Clintons testimony to the grand jury. That's how Democrats treat their women.
How hateful the Democras have become. Why can't they just run on their records? Oh, I see, they would lose.

You have to be twisted to love this garbage. The point of this is what again?
Deeds has two issues he's running on:  the first one is 'I'm not George Bush.'  The second is 'look at what my opponent did 20 years ago.'  McDonnell's thesis is certainly fair game, but Deeds' campaign is remarkably devoid of any ideas on why he should be governor.

He's going to have to come up with something soon.  Talking about a two-decades old thesis for the next nine weeks is going to get old.
what does Obama have to with this? it's up to the people of the state to decide whether they want to elect someone that will undermine decades of development in women rights.
i won't be suprise if got elected, we did elect dan quale, and GBush
WA, WA, WA, WA, WA! That's all the republican’s ever do. And cry, Get out of my sand box!

They just can't stand it when they're getting their faces rubbed into the facts. Grow up you whimps!
The Blue Dogs are running the health care debate. Obama has not shown the necessary leadership on health care and now we will all suffer. Also, where are all the jobs he promised? We should have elected Clinton.

Word! About time someone starts talking some common sense around here.
Got to watch out for those Democrats - they'll bite your finger off if they disagree with you.
Let's see Obama's thesis, Obama's birth certificate, Obama's school transcripts and application, Obama's real estate transactions, Obama's documents working as a lawyer for Chicago slumlords, all these documents are under lock and key or have mysteriously vanished.

Obama's Presidential Library will fill half a book shelf.
We've seen what happens when the conservative evangelicals get into office. The Bush Administration was riddles with Regent University Grads. They left the country in a complete mess.

Thomas Jefferson had it right. Keep religion out of government.
"How hateful the Democras have become. Why can't they just run on their records? Oh, I see, they would lose."

Actually we've been winning or haven't you noticed? Taken a look at the real world lately? You know, that reality based one Rove and friends dismissed? And I'm just assuming you meant "Democrats"
That's the problem with you liberal Kool-Aid drinkers. You think capturing bin Laden is somehow the end of the war against Islamic terrorism. My fear is, the head Kool-Aid server in chief might think the same way. With another 9/11 anniversary coming up, now is not the time for ignorant people who don't realize that we are in a fight for the life of western civilization, to be in charge.

Always proud of WHAT? You have no country now do you? I like Hawaiian punch or haven't you heard. I was told that you people have adapted the reference kool-aid from the Jim Jones tragedy. If that's so then...I KNOW DAMN WELL YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT VICTUMS OF 911! If you do then you are selective in tragedy then...aren't you? Later Cheney.

And if the President does feel as I do, Why I consider it an honor.

Anita, you seem to be confused, this is a Democratic ad, and a Democrat is whining about something that was written decades ago. Do try to keep up.

Let's just accept the fact that you've missed the point.  Quite possibly, many of them.

Moving on.
Oh, I get it.  This is Mr Deed's way of bragging about his unswerving support for the destruction of innocent life via legalized abortion on demand (for any and all reasons thru all 9 months of the pregnancy) and his support of gay marriage in the face of overhelming American rejection of gay marriage.  Is this the focus he really wants....on what a moral coward he is?
I love this, too.  It's brilliant.  Puts McDonnell right between a rock and a hard place ... his head and his ... (oh, never mind).  His choices are now:

1.  Embrace it.  2.  Try to explain it away.

Or, I guess there's one more:  Blame the media.

I'm betting everything on blame the media.

look treatment of women is not a republican or Democrate problem its come from the home you are raised in, i'm sure reagan was very good to his wife and kids as well as GHB, GWB, and BHO, please don't make treatment of women about politics.  remember it how you are raised, not your political affiliation!!!!
To repeat my post of earlier, this week, if McDonnell retracts his thesis, won't Regent want their welding certificate back?
Amazing! People still harping about Obama's missing thesis. Puhleeze! You can shelve that along with his Kenyan birth cert.
I don't like this type of campaign, but the republicans have perfected the scorched earth tactics of campaigning and politics, so if we are going to be anything but a far right country where government tells us what we can do in the bedroom, who we can love and marry, and who gets health care and who doesn't, this type of Democratic campaigning needs to take place.
Too bad for the dems that it's not working.
The voters of Virginia should be concerned that this nitwit attended a religious university not known for its enlightened curriculum on any subject. If you elect a religious kook then don't be surpirsed if he starts trying to legislate your religious beliefs and your behavior.
Don't you just like politics, bringing up something from 20 yrs ago that your rival did, even if it's been renounced since then, means you have no record to run on and have no idea what you will do if elected.  When are politicans, both republican & democrat, going to say what they will do and quit saying what the other person won't do.  Quit running each other down and give us your ideas to govern.

Here are some facts-

AP Wires-NEW YORK – Shoppers limited their back-to-school purchases and stayed focused on necessities in August, resulting in the 12th straight month of declining sales for retailers, but there were signs the holiday season could be less dismal than feared.

AP Wires- JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Unemployment benefits are expected to run out by the end of the year for more than 1.3 million Americans unless Congress or individual states authorize another extension.

The National Employment Law Project says more than 402,000 Americans will exhaust their unemployment benefits by the end of this month. That figure will more than triple by the end of December. The government does not track how many jobless Americans have exhausted both their standard and extended benefits, but experts say the figure is nearly 100,000 and rising.

CNN News- Almost nine in 10 Americans believe the US economy is still mired in recession, a new CNN poll released Thursday found. Fully 87 percent of those questioned in the CNN survey said they believe the United States was in a serious, moderate or mild recession.

MarketMonitor- U.S. Foreclosures Near Another Record in August as Housing Prices Continue To Slide

Bloomberg- European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said the euro region’s recovery from recession will be “bumpy” and signaled officials are in no rush to withdraw emergency stimulus measures. The ECB is wary of nipping the euro-region recovery in the bud by tightening policy too soon as rising unemployment and the expiry of government rescue packages may damp expansion next year.

Yeah, Biden is right, the Obama recovery is in full swing.

The 7 million unemployed may now return to their jobs at full pay. All foreclosures will be suspended under penalty of an ACORN sit-in.
I don't live in Virginia (thank God), so don't really care what some graduate from Pat Robertson's Playhouse thinks or does as that state's governor.
Now, if he runs for Congress......
"Taliban Bob McDonnell in 09: cause he now thinks it's OK for the womenfolk to work!"
