WH to release education speech early

From NBC's Chuck Todd
The White House is releasing the full text of the president's speech to students on Monday -- a full 24 hours before President Obama delivers the speech live at noon ET a local Arlington, VA, high school. Obviously, this means parents and teachers will have plenty of time to read the text of the speech and decide for themselves about the content.

It is amazing that we have pedophiles for teachers, but these mf'ers are worried about the President's speech.

America is getting dumber by the minute.
Why are they bothering to release the content of the speech?  I already heard all about it on Glenn Beck, and heard what was in it from that Greer dude.
That, and of course, all the insight provided by so many of the folks that post on here.
You telling me that Obama knows MORE about his own address than these brilliant jewels, and feels it should be shared??
Weird.
That is assuming the parents are capable of reading.

They aren't showing 'strong' critical thinking skills, so it's a leap to assume they can read.
I called my daughters school, and they said they don't care what Obama has to say, they'll not be showing it. They said they have more important things to do, like teach the kids how to read, write, and do math.
Will the Republicans be allowed to have a rebuttal?
Yes, but the speech isn't what it is about. The republicans are also concerned about subliminal messages and about the radio waves bombarding them from secret Democratic satellites orbiting the earth.

Fortunately, those that have to attend classes will be protected with tin foil hats, which have already proven to alien signals from penetrating the brain.

Now if they could just get rid of the death panels, get President Obama to confess that he was born on Mars, prove that the swine flu is actually nothing but an attempt to scare everyone into supporting health care reform, and prove once and for all that President Obama is a radical Muslim terrorist, the republicans could finally sleep at night!
Obviously, this means parents and teachers will have plenty of time to read the text of the speech and decide for themselves about the content.

---------------------------------------------

Obviously, this also gives plenty of time for the Limbaughs, O'Reillys, Hannitys, Malkins, Coulters and Becks to parse, spin, misinterpret, fabricate, distort and lie about whatever's in the speech.

Bon appetit, my little cherubs!
Don't the kids have something else to do, like go to recess? It would be more productive.
What a sad and sorry state that this countries republican leadership has progressed. The CIC of the United States of America has to release a speech to a bunch of uneducated thugs is disgusting. Other Nations are watching and shaking their heads.

Mr. President I appreciate the fact that you have class.
<<Obviously, this means parents and teachers will have plenty of time to read the text of the speech and decide for themselves about the content.>>

Like anyone will take the time to read it. Listen Obama, we've heard enough out of you and you've become oh so, so, boring! You're constant jumping in front of cameras is getting pretty annoying.
Don't bother releasing it in the red states. The parents nor their kids consider education, except bible school, to be critical to their upbringing.
That is assuming the parents are capable of reading.

Hateful. Just hateful. I guess people like you just enjoy having Obama lead you around by the nose.
Why is it being released on Monday, which is a national holiday?  We know some of what has been leaked or released so why not the whole thing not later the tomorrow, so parents will have time to read it.  When you release information on weekends and holidays, it mostly means you won't want a lot of people reading or hearing the information being released.  Way to manipulate the public and news media.
I am becoming more and more ashamed of some people in this country. The disrespect they continue to show the  President of the United States is terrible.  Bush couldn't string 2 intelligent sentences together.  Is that what we want for our country?  Anyone that believes that Obama is going to talk about political issues with grade school children is mentally deficient.  I believe the republicans want to keep our citizens uneducated because that is the only group they can control and lead.
The president reacts every time he's criticized--what's true for this education speech is also true of health reform. The president has given up on the public option because of all the August flak he received, unfair though it was. Instead, we hear Axelrod speak of 'competition', a far cry from a government plan.

Before he tries to repair the 'middle', perhaps the president should try to do something for it by insisting the public option be included in reform. Then he won't have as much to repair really.
I wonder what it must be like to wake up every single day with such hatred that these Glenn Beck followers must pocess. They must be so miserable. perhaps if they got a life instead of spending their days listening to crap day in and day out they may start feeling better about themselves. Perhaps they should stop blaming their lousy lives on Obama and get out of bed and do something themselves.

What a bunch of losers..... unfortunately, they are also depriving their own children from having happy lives.
Why are Republican'ts so ANTI-Education!

Gee I know... if they were able to learn a thing or two the party of NO would implode right about... NOW!

The dumbing down of the Dopes of Nope continues...

They're lurking all over this board

I am a parent who is not allowing my children to hear this speech and they will not have to write a letter to the President.  Why is it that we as a country in our school systems are not allowed to have public prayer in school or at football games and we very well may be losing the right to say the pledge of alleigence but yet for the first time a President is going to make a speech to american children, now tell me why is that allowed to happen but yet we are not allowed to have prayers or speak of God or religion of course if it is directed to other religions other than christian religion.  We as parents are finally waking up and realizing that for the first time it is time to wake up and fight for our children and our freedoms because this president is bent on taking them away and as a parent I have a right and responsibility to protect my child my from something that I think will harm him and that is what I am doing.  To the person who wrote we are worried about the Presiden't speech you better believe it we are and policits does not belong in my child's school, and I will not stand for it, if I have to decide to homeschool my child then that could possibly be the next step because frankly I don't want this president encouraging my child in any shape, form or fashion because I don't trust his agenda!
Chris - IL: '...The real problem is not Grassley or Enzi per se, but rather the scorched earth policy of the republican party. By putting out the lies and intentionally making stuff up to scare people,...'

Sorry, Chris you're looking at the wrong place
You know the Republican won't compromise
I know it

So WHY is President Obama STILL TRYING TO BE BI-PARTISAN
WHY doesn't Max Baucus WALK AWAY from 'negotiations'?
Are they both THAT STUPID ??

I try to stay away from Rattle Snakes
If I try to be Bi-Partisan with a Rattle Snake, it'll bite me

Who's fault would that be ?
The Rattle Snake's or mine ??

We Should have elected Nancy Pelosi President

She's about the only Democrat with Brains and a Backbone (besides Frank & Wasman)

And Bring Back HOWARD DEAN !!
OMG, what is wrong with these Repukes.  Do they even know, or care who is in charge of their school-age children daily.  That would be a NO! Possibly pedophiles, drug-abusers, alcholics, felons, etc., and they are concerned about a speech of encouragement from the POTUS!

This is absulutely a new LOW even for the Repukes!
I'm assuming all those who oppose the President talking to school children are the same people who want to FORCE "Intelligent Design" on ALL school children.

Oh, the hypocrisy of it all!
While I'm no fan of our President I don't see what the big deal is.  If a child's mind can be made up in regards to politics by one speech then shame on the parents for not instilling enough political values in their kids that they would be swayed so easily.

Also

Anita,

First The Federalist was written during 1787-1788 when the Constitution was being debated as the successor of the Articles of Confederation.  Its authors were not only Alexander Hamilton but also John Jay and James Madison.  You said it was written by Hamilton in 1775 (Before America had declared independence and Hamilton wasn’t even 20) and 1804 (which is the year Hamilton was shot and killed in the famous duel with Aaron Burr).  Since you’re a student of History and you know all about The Federalist I thought you might be interested in some of those basic facts.

Second I’m still waiting for you to blow my mind regarding Bernanke, The Fed, U.S. Monetary Policy, and our Presidents support of economic status quo.
Clara,,,, my very thoughts, but i hear he is putting out a color book version so they can at least show there kids they can color.and are smarter them a fifth grader.of at least they can color like one.
The majority of people wouldn't be paying attention to Obama so why would the kids be any different?
Why is it that people feel they can belittle and degrade people who are asking for clarification in regards to information that is being provided/taught too their children?  This is America.  As an American we are allowed to ask questions and make inquiries into what is being taught to our children.  We have the ability to choose Home Schooling or Charter Schools and make a CHOICE about our childs education.  My children are not allowed to say the Pledge of Allegiance (you know...I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.  And to the Republic for which it stands ONE NATION UNDER GOD) in school anymore but the Government is allowed to ask my children to ask themselves "What they can do for President Obama"?
GOP keep your kids at home so they can stay retarded and stupid!  They all need to wear helmets and ride the short bus anyway.
What a pleasure to have a President that communicates and does so very well. Open and informative that's a good thing. Even with Ronald Reagan whose ideas and policies I didn't often agree with I appreciated because of how he communicated with us. He made it so we could understand where he was coming from and why he believed as he did.

Secretive leadership is the work of dictators. Open government leaders are what helps make a democracy strong and keep it that way. Dictators are afraid of those who disagree with them but one who is a democrat (small d) appreciates the dissent and disagreement as it makes us strong. Strength in knowing what the people want and don't want, what they hear and don't hear, if they have their facts straight or have been wooed by one's enemies. Difference of opinion makes a democracy thrive and that difference of opinion is only possible in an open dialogue between people and their leaders.

See? this is the kind of person I was refering to in another post.  Seems to already know what is or is not in the speech.   If Beck wants to be afraid of everything, I hope he includes just knowing people like Pam are not only in our midst, but are having and raising babies.
America is getting dumber by the minute. Mr. President, why do you bother trying to lead these idiots? (Sent Thursday, September 03, 2009 2:33 PM)
--------------------------------------------------
What a patronizing and condescending tone, but I expected nothing less from the erudite, do-as-Obama-says lefties. Why even have a democracy? Ivy League egg heads and millionaire lawyers will tell us what to do.
Calm down, everyone.  The initial negative reaction was to the White House guidance that as a follow-up to his remarks, students could write how they could help the President.    And I think most of you are well aware of that.  You would be HOWLING if your children got a school assignment to write how they could help President Bush.
tesa S in La.  So your teachers actually teach kids to read  write and do math. And you are still on the bottom of the rung in education. I think you ought to listen to the President's speach.
Jonathan Flint, MI

I did say some, go back and read. Also, I am not entering into another debate with you. It's too time consuming and I am truly not interested in what you think about Bernake and the Feds U.S. Monetary Policy.

Go back and research this:

The Patriot Act made a number of changes to U.S. law. Key acts changed were the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA), the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1968 (ECPA), the Money Laundering Control Act of 1986 and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as well as the Immigration and Nationality Act.
Gee, I wonder WHY ??

From Huff Post:

Obama Losing Support Among Democrats

While all the attention has been paid to angry opponents of health care reform at Congressional town hall meetings, a bigger problem for President Obama and his party is brewing among Democrats.

Our latest Zogby Interactive poll of 4,518 likely voters (conducted from Aug. 28-31) found 48% disapprove of Obama's job performance, and 42% approve. The big story lies behind those top-line percentages.

In a similar interactive poll done six weeks ago, 88% of Democrats approved of Obama's job performance. That percentage is now down to 75%, a significant drop of 13 points. Meanwhile, there is only slight change among Republicans and Independents.

Obama has lost even more support among 18-29-year-old voters, whose approval fell by 18 points over that time. The Democrats may be able to count on older, die hard party members to come out and vote, even when they may be disappointed. But those young voters could very easily sour on the Democrats and politics itself if Obama does not deliver on his message of change.

Health care isn't the only issue that is hurting Obama with his Democratic base. The war in Afghanistan is losing popularity, and his handling of detainees and the bank bailout may not be what many Democrats voted for.

Obama still retains most of his personal popularity with Democrats, with 85% rating him favorably. However, partisans are less likely to continue to separate their opinions of the man from those of his policies than are less issue-oriented voters.

Obama is now firmly between a rock and a hard place. Liberal Democrats want a strong health care reform bill with a public option. Republicans and more conservative Democrats disagree. Obama needs to enter the fray in a very public way, which may mean knocking heads with both wings of his own party.

Obama is displaying complete ineptitude !!
DON'T Try to be Every Republican's Friend

USE RECONCILIATION !!
It gets crazier every day.  I honestly cannot believe that the right wing would stoop so low but they've managaed to sink to an all-time, creepy, nut mentality previously thought unattainable.  What a pathetic bunch of poor losers claiming they believe in democracy and justice for all.  What democracy if it can only be GOP democracy?  Here's a thought, let's just ship them all to Texas where they can secede and become a third world country.  Sorry, Texas, I know you don't all think that way.

As for the person in LA whose school won't show it, how ridiculous.  Kids get out of school for sporting events so a speech would hardly interfere with education; if anything, it would let children know that the President cares about them and wants them to succeeed.  One of the poorest educational outcomes in the country, and schools decide the president should not be allowed to inspire children.

Gee, Sam, are you offended?! Awww...I'm glad you are OK with our President being denigrated for no VALID reason. But, I am sorry that people who are so closed minded that they would prevent their children from hearing an inspirational speaker (c'mon, grant him that)stress the importance of education.

Darn, I keep forgetting. These people don't care about education. If it ain't in the bible - who needs it!

Really? Death panels? Palin around with terrorists? Not born in the US? Socialist? Teleprompters? Weapons at Presidential events? Make health care Obama's Waterloo? Signs of Obama with a Hitler mustache?

Hateful you say . . .I just can't understand why anyone would be hateful toward republicans. They're such a pleasant and respectful group!

And this is what is wrong with America. Pam - Bush gave a speech too - did you feel the same way??? You are pretty sick if you think the POTUS is going to talk about his "agenda" to school kids. Your problem is you want it to be a Republican agenda being talked about. President Obama is going to talk about hard work, the importance to succeed in school, don't drop out, etc.. Are you worried that your son is going to hear that. And about religion - that just didn't happen yesterday but years ago. At least read the darn speech before you make a stupid decision.
I have an idea, how about all you crazy f#$%king republicants go back to Fox where you belong.  I really get sick of reading your idiotic responses to legitimate  dialogue.

=====================

In return you rather teach your child to not have all the facts and then react.  I would have respected your post if you read the speech and then made a comment.

If he tells the Kids to work hard.. whats wrong with that?  If he tells them to listen to their parents...whats wrong with that? In case your forgot he is a very smart man...?  Who does actually care!!!

you mean the republicans allow their children to attend the socialist program called public education.
While I'm no fan of our President I don't see what the big deal is.  If a child's mind can be made up in regards to politics by one speech then shame on the parents for not instilling enough political values in their kids that they would be swayed so easily.

Touche'

much respect to your post....

But I am a big fan of Obama....but a good point is a good point.
why is that allowed to happen but yet we are not allowed to have prayers or speak of God or religion of course if it is directed to other religions other than christian religion.

=========================
By the way it's called a moment of silence...

Which allows kids to pray, but it's a choice.......

how involved are you?

Pam Stafford - considering the grammar used in you comment, I think it would be a bad idea to home school your children.
Pam,
Maybe they want to show the kids that a President can really read, unlike someone's attempt to read My Pet Goat, upside down at that. As far as religion in school, if you want that send your kids to Catholic School or something similar.  It is disgusting that someone as dumb as you obviously are can parrot some ridiculous talking point put out by a bunch of crazy radical racists and think you are helping your kids.
