Goodbye Lazy – Hazy Crazy Days of Summer 2009:

My how time flies when you’re having fun!

To our Hosts/Moderators here @ FR sorry if I was a touch rough with you this morning – but you of all people should know how I feel about Gotcha Gregory! Bad enough I had to listen to him blather on the “Today Show’! A woman can only take so much ya know!

Enjoy your long weekend (you’ve earned it) something tells me next week is going to be even busier around here than usual!

‘Family’ & Friends here @ FR NICE job this week!  Rest up & Have a Happy & Safe Labor Day Weekend!   Keep the faith in OUR President – I remember many times late last summer & early fall there were days where I had some doubts… and look how that turned out!

Anita – thanks for the thoughts & after the week around here I’ll join you for a Baskin & Robbins Strawberry fruit juicy spiked with a shot or two or vodka… it’s time to kick back & relax for a while ;0)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can’t wait to see who the Republican’ts choose to give their response to President Obama’s health care speech.  After all they did such a ‘bang up’ job last time with the Chucky Cheese mascot Bobby Bo Jingles… Hell why not send tickle me Elmo out there… at least he’s the same color as Bonehead!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And some housekeeping from earlier this morning...

Other than FOX I don't know of a conservative media machine.

RW (Sent Friday, September 04, 2009 10:02 AM)

Whoopsy!  You forgot Lush Loudmouth now didn’t ya?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, those advertizers are back now. Great ratings tend to do that.
Riiiight?  And you can prove that to us HOW? Thought so…
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/aug/25/glenn-beck-loses-advertisers/
Gotcha Gregory HAS GOT TO GO…
Replace him NOW with Lawrence O’….
"Productive", huh.
A bowel movement can be productive, but it is no less a load of crap.
Grassley and Enzi will never vote for anything the President tries to put forward and will sacrifice the country for the Rethuglican party.
J. Ellis…
I nominate you for the funniest post of the week award here @ FR!
I literally spit out my Diet Coke!  Best laugh I’ve had all week!  LOL!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Come on, Capucin-in-Chief, answer these questions just as soon as you are finished killing all those innocent Afghani women and children. Or maybe you will answer that next week when you give your millionth flash dancing sermon as you swing from your jungle gym.

And this a@@ wipe wins hands down… the most racist despicable post of the week! May you fall off your high chair and break a ‘neck’!
Okay, let's say we liberals give up the "public option" --  will the conservatives THEN let us have our "death panels"?  ;)
Domenico,
Will Students be required to listen to Rush Limbaugh as an alternative?

President George H.W. Bush made a similar address to schools in 1991.
Texas Boycott
In the Dallas suburb of Plano, Texas, the 54,000-student school district is not showing the 15- to 20-minute address but will make the video available later.

Several other Texas districts have decided not to show the speech, although the district in Houston is leaving the decision up to individual school principals.

Wisconsin Decision
In Wisconsin, the Green Bay school district decided not to show the speech live and to let teachers decide individually whether to show it later.

Florida GOP Chair Comments
Florida GOP chairman Jim Greer said in a statement he was "absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama's socialist ideology."

**********************************************
The lesson plans, available online, originally recommended having students "write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president."

The White House revised the plans Wednesday to say students could "write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals."

Higginbottom said, "That was in artfully worded, and we corrected it."

All parents who boycott the address. Are un-American unless they listen to rush Limbaugh. NOT

You can start a J-O-B by supporting a Public Option.
Public Option would enable working people to bargain for better benefits, wages and working conditions by restoring workers' freedom to choose for themselves whether to join a union.

Anita I trusted that you and the rest of my lefties could  hold the fort down as spent some time with my grandson. Oh and by the way I like your kool-aid . Should we offer more of it to the deprived ones?

You know can bring a horse to the water; but you can't make it drink?

The "Dopes of Nope" can only say  "No" even when they're dying of thirst.

To all my lefties a big shout out for holding the fort down. The Gallup poll today says the president numbers inches a little thank ya'll for making a dent.
 Feisty and others in the Chicagoland; isn't it strange those who don't live in Chicago know so much about Bill Ayers?
You'd they they were sitting in the fundraiser  they way they talk.

Have a Happy Labor day and nice weekend every one including you dopes of nope.
I have a question:  why don't you do a report on the White House plans to take over the internet in case of a 'cyber attack"?

I get that crippling the internet would have a devestating effect on our economy, but would not a government takeover accomplish the same thing?

And what would the response have been if a republican administration floated such a plan?  I'm sure you can find some examples for comparison.

Like the study Pew Research did non the differenxce in coverage of Bush's Faith Based Initiative, and Obama's.

Or, how about some coverage of the reaction of the Rabbi's invoved in Obama's 'outreach' on Health Care?  He told them that he, (Obama) was going to 'Partner with God".  I know one of the Rabbi's who was involved in the meeting; appalled is too weak a term.  He was outraged.

i guess you guys are too busy covering Sarah palin's grocery list to cover anything so mundane.
Bob Cesca, Huffington Post:

"The reality, however, is that a healthcare reform bill with a robust public option is both extraordinarily popular and fiscally responsible, while, on the other hand, the kind of "centrist" bill that David Brooks wants is actually more expensive and generally more corrupt. In other words, a bill without the public option can hardly be called "centrist" by any definition of the term."
___________
Why do certain members of the Democratic Party not want a public option? It is very popular throughout the country. Is it their own constituents in red states who don't want it?

If so, they are outnumbered. Are they afraid of not getting re-elected if they vote for a public option? Is this their only concern? It appears to be.

Just so they know, if there is no public option, there's a possibility President Obama will not get re-elected. Is this what they want?

They are more concerned with their own hides than with the state the health care industry in this country is in, which has been broken for generations.

Thanks. You're about to blow an Administration up into a million pieces because you don't want to lose your seat.

So typical. Enjoy your health care.

You sure got that RIGHT!  Bill Ayers is just like the rest of their ‘buzz’ words… they don’t have a CLUE what they’re repeating but sure give good parrot!

Have a Great Weekend!
no joe, no bo, nj (Sent Friday, September 04, 2009 5:36 PM)

I'm beginning to think you are certifiably insane! That is NOT a white house plan to take over the internet in case of cyber attack. Seriously, I thought you were capable of doing some research. There is a house bill that has never even left its committee that is looking at this.

I agree that the premise of control of the internet is something that is scary. But your assertions that it is Obama's administration is an outright lie (or perhaps you are just repeating what you heard from someone on faux on or a nutty chain e-mail).

Keep up the fear and smear. At least I can admire your efforts to repeat the outrageous lies you hear in your part of the world.

I should caution you however since you appear to believe every thing you hear (as long as it is from a conservative source) that if you forward the chain e-mail about Disney World tickets from Microsoft, it won't really happen.
This from Politico:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0909/26744.html
"Obama isn’t the first president to be criticized this way. O’Neill recalled President George H.W. Bush made televised address to students in October 1991 as campaign season was heating up. A handful of Democrats denounced Bush’s address as pure politics. Bush asked students to “take control” of their education and to write him a letter about ways students could help him achieve his goals, strikingly similar to Obama’s messages.
------------------------------------------------

So I guess the "moral" of the story is that it's only OK for a president to talk to students and ask for their help if he's a white Republican.
It's amazing how "unimportant" violations of ethics stories are to MSNBC when they involve liberal politicians or figures.  In 2006 the mainstream media pounded the airwaves with all the GOP scandals.  The GOP got what it deserved---bad news coverage and bad election results.  But the media (incl MSNBC) made SURE the public got the message clear and kept Larry Craig and others in front of the american public.  But what about now?  Charlie Rangel is head of a powerful committe (Ways and Means).  He's been under "investigation" for almost a year....and still nothing despite growing revelations and allegations. This all under Nancy "I'll end the culture of corruption" Pelosi's "watchful" eyes.  And again, minimal press coverage, if at all.  John Murtha, a buddy of Ms Pelosi, is tied to smelly deals and favors...but again, he's a democrat...so little if any coverage.  David Axelrod, the mastermind of the Obama admin, is tied to heavy money with many special interest groups involved in the health care debate...but again you wouldn't find that out from MSNBC, would you?  ON and on it goes....
There is nothing that President Obama can or will do that will satisfy the rabid right wing. I never thought I would see the day in America where elected officials would take to the airwaves and encourage school districts to boycott the President's back to school message!

To suggest that the President is planning to indoctinate the children with his "socialist ideology" is the most absurd thing I have ever heard said about a presidential speech to school children.And I remembering hearing or hearing about such speeches dating back to President Kennedy.
No matter how you in the MSM try to parse what is happening with all of this anger, angst and animus directed at the President, I am convinced it is racial prejudice. I grew up in the 60's south and I recognize bigotry when I see it.
Those people foaming at the mouth carrying posters depicting President Obama as Hitler, Mao, Saddam, Kim Jong Il, etc. really want to carry posters with the "N" word but are too cowardly to do so.

This presidency has turned into a nightmare and I just pray that the depravity being displayed doesn't lead to violence involving Barack Obama or God forbid his family.
The bottom line is America was not ready for this experiment called "post racial presidency" born out by the fact that I have yet to hear the hatemongers Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck say one positive or kind word about our President and I don't mean his policies. They reserve to right to disagree with everything he proposes. But it is obvious to me they actually hate the "man."
Shame on our country!

Question:  Has anyone in the White Hous brought up Reconciliation for HCR ?

Does Reconciliation only last 10 years ?

What's the problem with 10 years of the Public Option ?
Wouldn't a 'Temporary' Public Option be a viable 'compromise' ?

Why hasn't anyone mentioned that Sen Evan Bayh's wife 'earned' $2 Million in two years WORKING FOR HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES ?

Has First Read asked Bayh about this ?

How about those SOWS  (Southern Old White Stupids) and I am 65, white and can see this clearly.  Why can't the people who are fighting this HCR?  I feel as though Pres. Obama is keeping his promises and working so hard for what the voter wants. He can do this in spite of Harry Ried and Nancy Pelosi.
Hello, I want to thank you for this nice blog. Would you mind telling me some secrets for a succesful blog ? Which could attract some visitors than it normally does. Please come visit my site retirement communities when you got time.
The President is just trying to do his job the wau he sees fit.  We, the People elected him, and it makes sense for every one of us to work with him on what he intends to accomplish while he is in office.  To cast aspersions on or make false accusations against the President is counterproductive.  The days of political posturing are over.  Every one of us has work to do regardless of how cash flows or doesn't flow.  Whether we be liberal, conservative, or centrist, whether we be Democrats, Republicans, or of some other polital party, we, the People, are all human beings, and we are Americans.  It is high time we stop asking "What's in it for me?" and relearn the lessons we were taught back in kintergarten, namely, how to get along with one another.  Now is not the time to be hateful of athers who are a little different from us somehow, whether in the color of their skin or their beliefs. We are all neighbors here. Let's act like neighbors and help one another out.  We have a good fight ahead of us, one we can win if and only if we all work together, putting aside our differences and allowing common sense to rule, rather than emotion.
you would think Obama has slept with an Intern or committed thousands of troops and innocent civilians to death with all of the uproar over this... http://www.enewsreference.com/wordpress/
A bill in the House is a plan; I never suggested it was an implementation.  I'd like some media coverage on the pros and cons.  I get that liberals think that anything dreamed up by any democrat is a gift from the gods-but there are still some sane people who don't follow that particular 'religion'.  It is quite true that a cyber attack would cripple the nation; I don't know that this is the proper defense mechanism.

Anyway, it is much more important than, say, what the Palins had for lunch last Tuesday.

Interesting polls from Pew, Gallup, and PPP Polling.  All report the same numbers-party identification is shifting rapidly, with the Democrats the big losers.  It seems that the all-important independents are shifting to the GOP; Gallup concludes that, when people voted for Democrats, they were not voting to embrace a liberal agenda.

I'm wondering if the First Read writers/editors consider Gallup one of those 'new, erratic' polls.
hey fiesty and nashville and kenn.FR isn't posting late any more so I'm not getting in. hope this one makes it.

what ever happened to my country? I'm old enough to remember the saying(and mean it) I may not agree with what you say but I'd die for the right for you to say it. I watch  as the young lady(younger than me at least) in the wheel chair was shouted down and belittled. and I was apalled. this is what my nation has come to. we put ourselves out there with our true healthcare nightmare stories and in return we are bullied and even called liars. we are told surely you just do not want to be treated. there are no government programs for the middle class. we need universal healthcare or at the very least public option. can you folks not see thhat even if you have a great plan(which means you probably have not tried to use it to find out) it will not be sustainable for your children and may well run out before you do, 30-40% of businesses surveyed have said they plan to either do away with or shift the lion's share of the burden to the worjker. a big reason our jobs are disappering is runaway healthcare costs.

10-12000 for a pet scan, wher does this money go? the machine is just taking pictures. not treatment

5400-6000 for an mri..  same thing just pictures.. not treatment

3500-4000 for a cat scan.... just pictures

700-900 for an xray.. lousy pictures

17000-20000 for ONE bag of chemo treatment

there are still some of us middle of the roaders... i don't even consider myself a true liberal but am called one every time I log on... but what does it say about the conservative party when nixon would be considered a liberal today? you guys are just nuts.

presidents in the past have addressed students with only token oposition, for you guys to lamblast this speechso much is racism pur and simple. no white president would have been met with such out and out hatred. shame on you. where is the nation of lincoln?where is the nation of roosevelt? where is the nation of truman? where is the nation of kennedy? where is the nation of eisenhower? where is the nation of johnson?
will you apologize if his speech is not political in the least? texas is not even showing it live. districts are taping it and placing the film in libraries so if a teacher gets permission from ALL their paerents then they may show it to their class. sad very sad!
the media by and large has let the American people down for ratings.sad...so very sad...

I don't fight for healthxcare for myself.it is too late for me,both in terms of treatment and finances. I continue to fight for my daughter and your son and your grandaughter if only my parents would have fought for me when I was young maybe this hatred could have been avoided.

see ya on the flip side
Where is the job creation President Obama promised?

Unemployment continues to rise and Biden says the stimulus is working!

Job creation is the most important issue today, not healthcare reform. Reform the broken, nearly bankrupt Medicaid-Medicare-Social Security house of cards first.
You can start a J-O-B by supporting a Public Option.
Public Option would enable working people to bargain for better benefits, wages and working conditions by restoring workers' freedom to choose for themselves whether to join a union.

----------------------------------------------------

Get real! Less than 10% of all workers in the US are represented by unions and the majority of them work for the GOVERNMENT. Card check, union organizing, healthcare reform, these are sideshows that won't fix the fundamental weakness in the economy. The total unemploument, the Dept of labor U-6 measure, is approaching 17%!

17% UNEMPLOYMENT- that is the issue Mr. President. Where is the $900 BILLION stimulus money? Where is the TRILLION in Bush TARP money?

Two trillion dollars and unemployment increases!

You don't need a PhD in economics to see something is very wrong with this picture.
The push to retain the two party systems and strangle any effort by minor parties or independents has continued to be one of the best ways for the political elite to maintain control on the masses. It is a racist strategy conducted by both of the major political parties. Take the situation of Arkansas. With over 95 percent of the registered voters choosing to be  independents who vote the person and the issue rather than the party, the two major parties hold everyone else hostage to their ideology.

While this continues to allow them to consolidate power in many other states, in Arkansas the populist wave is growing. Unhappy with Blanche Lincoln's representation of Arkansas in Washington and the racist plantation owner mentality of the republican's in the rest of the state, the voters continue to vote the individual based on his merits, message and experience.

The primary example in Arkansas is Trevor Drown, from Russellville, the former Green Beret, small business owner and UPS employee who many consider the common man of Arkansas. His refusal to take corporate money, listen to party politics and leadership style of daring to make a difference is resonating throughout the state. While he may not have the funds, he has the people's ear and he is receiving more supporters every day. Trevor chooses to meet with people from all walks of life, listens to them, their concerns and what they are looking for. That in itself is different from so many professional politicians. As he meets people, he is building support and a grassroots movement has sprung up. Next spring when he needs to get the 10,000 signatures to get on the November ballot he will easily do this. The money and funding will come, it will be slow but, it will build momentum as time goes by. When people from all over see the impact he is making, we will see a fundamental change in the way campaigns are conducted.  It will not be politics as usual. Drown will eventually face a Democratic Incumbent who has collected so much money from corporate donors, it can only be described as obscene. The winner of the republican primary will either be another bloated political party hack or a racist plantation owner, who uses the church to rally support and be the fake conservative voice. Thankfully it will not work this time and a true independent, an American will represent Arkansas.

Public Option is a must.  The entire country knows it, even if they really HATE to admit it!  They've been shoved fear and hate down their throats for so long by Republicans and Right Wing Extremists that they can't think for themselves.  The Pubs are afraid they've lost their party and future elections. They will do anything - they'll follow you to your car, follow you home and stake out your house - (sorry - got carried away with Fear Tactics from the Right) to win an election. Despite the rough and tumble summer that's almost over....thank God most of us are still thinking.  Public Option is just that - "option" - as opposed to Public Rule, My Way or the Highway.  Have a lovely Labor Day.
Not a single article or opinion about the communist green czar Van Johnson.  But the official mouthpiece of the Obama Administration found the time to write a piece about the former boyfriend of Sarah Palin's daughter interview in Vanity Fair.  I have arrived at the conclusion that NBC and MSNBC can no longer be expected to deliver any type of objective journalism.
NBC tried its best to hide Van Jones..But that commie radical is GONE GONE GONE..Nice try Brian Williams But WE THE PEOPLE have more power than you
next up the "genocide czar"
Sorry fellow libbies for being MIA these past two weeks (that means if you've seen anything posting under my moniker over that time, they're fake).  Our fall semester started last week and I've been busy doing Help Desk duty, as well as preparing for a conference next week.  I'm also in consulting meetings most of this week, so my postings will continue to be somewhat sparse over the next two weeks or so.  Good to see that you all are holding down the fort, especially since the rightie nut-bags seem to have gone full tilt these past weeks.

My question is when are we going to start calling out this vitriol against the president by the rabid right-wing nutjobs for what it is.  This has gone beyond Health Care Reform, or even general policy now.  When the president cannot even speak to schoolchildren without controversey, when people in wheelchairs are being shouted down when trying to speak out, it should be a wake up call to anyone watching where this anger is coming from.  This is pure racism.  Nothing more, nothing less.  What I find most apalling is that no one on either the left or the right is willing to speak to this aspect of right-wing anger when its clearly the "elephant" in the room.  Commentators on the right try to excuse this with the claim "the left did the same thing when Bush #1 did it, and when Regan did it."  I find this to be utter, and sadly typical, BU--SH--.  There was never this much vitriolic hatred and anger towards a president to the point of blatant publicly stated death threats, at least not in my lifetime.  Let's stop making excuses here.  When your only reasons for hating this president has to do with some non-existent agenda, or birth certificate, or because he wishes to speak to your children, it should be perfectly clear what's going on here.  These reasons are mere cover for the pervasive racism that the Republican party wishes to stoke for its own advantage.  It's time the MSM call this out as such.

Hope to be back soon.

Is President Obama well rested after his 5 days at Camp David?

So sorry the Obamas vacation at Marthas Vineyard got interrupted by the Kennedy funeral. Is that considered paid bereavement leave?

There are over 7 million unemployed in this country and the number is climbing.

What is President Obama doing about those millions of unemployed people? Maybe he should go on another vacation and think about it.
TOO MANY PARENTS NO LONGER TRUST OBAMA WITH THEIR CHILDREN.

CALL NAMES ALL YOU WANT ... BUT THAT'S REALITY.

OBAMA IS SIMPLY TO MUCH A LEFTIST EXTREMIST FOR MOST TRADITIONAL AMERICANS.

POLLSTERS STARTED SAYING THAT MONTHS AGO --- BUT OBAMA DIDN'T LISTEN.

WHO THE HELL ARE THE IDIOTS ADVISING OBAMA ON POLITICAL ISSUES?

This ain't Chicago --- this is 'prime time' USA!
