First thoughts: September to remember?

*** A September to remember? President Obama is back at work. So is Congress. And it’s shaping up to be the busiest September we can remember for an off-year. Here's everything coming up before end of the month: health care, including the president’s big speech on the topic tomorrow; the Supreme Court’s hearing tomorrow regarding Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission (more on that below); the 9/11 anniversary, which will lead to discussion about Afghanistan; the anniversary of Lehman Brothers’ fall, which will lead to more discussion about the economy; the G20; UN General Assembly; Middle East peace talks; and Iran talk threats. Whew...

*** Obama’s big test: Tomorrow’s health-care speech is shaping up to be a big test for President Obama. Financial observer Ron Insana made this observation in an online debate that we thought was worthy of highlighting: "It appears the president is becoming ‘Carteresque’ in the extreme. It took Carter years to engage in this much waffling and indecision, not to mention a propensity to micromanage the wrong stuff. I rarely, if ever, suggest a premature end to a cycle, but Obama could easily ruin his presidency in the next week with an amateurish move.” While Insana might be writing history a wee bit early here, he is getting at something that few people are focusing on: This week is as much a presidential leadership/character test, as it is a debate about health care. How the president takes control of this town this week -- not just health care -- is going to be a tone-setter potentially for how the president runs this town for the rest of his term.

*** Whither the public option: It isn’t clear how hard the president will fight for the public option. He will express support for it, as he did in Cincinnati yesterday. “I continue to believe that a public option within that basket of insurance choices will help improve quality and bring down costs,” he said. Yet buried in Obama’s rah-rah speech was some language that suggests he's going to be asking for leeway from Democrats to get this done. He talked about 80% of agreement (a familiar phrase) and framed the opposition on this as wanting to do "nothing." That's code for, let's get SOMETHING, as the president has said before; don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Still, that isn’t stopping the advocates for a public option. Today, at 12:15 pm ET former staffers who worked on Obama’s campaign will rally outside the White House in support of the public option.

*** Crunch time for the Gang of Six: A decision on whether three Senate Republicans (Chuck Grassley, Mike Enzi, Olympia Snowe) will support a bipartisan proposal for health-care reform may come as early as this afternoon -- if not sooner, NBC’s Ken Strickland reports. This past weekend, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus put an offer before the panel's bipartisan Gang of Six and is seeking a response when the group meets today. Baucus' framework, Strick adds, represents most of the ideas that have been previously discussed and reported on during the past months of negotiations. Those ideas have now been packaged into a proposal that cost less that $900 billion and does not increase the deficit. As expected, it does not include a "public option," but instead creates healthcare cooperatives or "co-ops." This is a significant point in the legislative process because Grassley and Enzi must now accept or reject the bipartisan group’s work.

*** So why now? Baucus has been taking FOREVER and then suddenly, a few days after the White House announces it’s going to begin framing the debate with its own speech Wednesday, Baucus releases his framework. Our sources indicate to us that Baucus sped up the process because he knew the committee, himself included, risked becoming less relevant in the debate if it did NOT have a bill by Wednesday's speech.

*** Move along, folks; nothing to see here: After reading Obama’s education speech that the White House released 24 hours before he delivers it at Wakefield (VA) High School at noon ET today, do some Republicans and conservatives -- accused Obama of “socialist” indoctrination” -- have egg on their face? Here’s an excerpt of Obama’s message today: “Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide.” Also: “No one’s born being good at things, you become good at things through hard work.” And: “The story of America isn’t about people who quit when things got tough. It’s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best.”

*** Fired up, ready to go: Of course, some conservatives argue that it wasn't Obama’s education speech they were objecting to; it was the lesson plan focus they didn't like. But that got lost. They may have an ideological issue with the Education Department, but the criticism of the president himself came across as undignified. By the way, the White House is hinting that it plans to fight back more directly on some of the attacks it has faced. Regarding the education speech criticism, for instance, the president and his team believe they need to not brush off these things but start confronting it and using it as an attempt to create a wedge between the political middle and the conservative base. In fact, we're told that the president's feisty tone in Cincy yesterday was a result of the staff pumping him up a bit, or getting him worked up.

*** Van Jones resigns: Speaking of distractions, Glenn Beck got his man -- Van Jones, who resigned from the administration over the weekend. And judging by how Beck responded to the news of the resignation of the mid-level staffer, he won't be satisfied with this scalp. Beck made it sound like he might even have a list of "Who's next," which will embolden defenders of the administration to start focusing on Beck and others. In short, it could be an ugly fall. And it makes us miss the "good old days," when the Wall Street Journal editorial page led the fight to take down some Clinton administration officials with long "Who is Webb Hubbell?" or "Who is Vince Foster?," etc. Those Wall Street Journal editorials were tough, but they did seem to stay within certain boundaries. Are there boundaries now? As for Jones, clearly, that 9/11 stuff made him indefensible and does call into question the White House's vetting process. The irony in all of this: Beck never lost his job for calling Obama a racist, but Jones did…

*** Joe says no: Yesterday, Joseph Kennedy II, RFK’s son, said he WOULD NOT run for Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat. “My father called politics an honorable profession, and I have profound respect for those who choose to advance the causes of social and economic justice in elective office,” he said in a statement. “After much consideration, I have decided that the best way for me to contribute to those causes is by continuing my work at Citizens Energy Corporation.”

*** Money finds a way: Honest question: If the Roberts Court ends up overturning precedents upholding restrictions on campaign advertisements financed by corporations and unions, can conservatives ever rail against "judicial activism" with a straight face? The Supreme Court -- with newly minted Justice Sonia Sotomayor -- holds a GIGANTIC hearing in this case, Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission, on Wednesday. All of the hints are there that this Roberts Court might just overturn many of the campaign finance reforms out there that involve corporate spending. What would the unintended consequences of such a decision be? Would it automatically mean we'd see corporate America spend more money in elections? The C.W. says this will help Republicans, but will it? Remember when the soft money ban was supposed to benefit the GOP? Our point is – you just never know. What we do know is that the system would change and, well, to paraphrase Jeff Goldblum's character in “Jurassic Park,” money finds a way.

Good Morning All!

Don’t know about everyone else… but I’m FIRED up & ready to go!

President Obama’s speech yesterday was PRECISELY what I needed to hear!

It’s about time he got some of his PASSION back!  Like I said last week, he’s NOW got the ball & is in the red zone!

The ‘Tea Bagger’s were in a suburb here in Chi town yesterday!  Man oh Man what a bunch of whack jobs!  One crazy old white lady (on Medicare no doubt) ‘madly waving her sign’ was asked why she was there and she said because she doesn’t want Obama taking away OUR ‘freedoms’… when pressed for specifically what freedom was going to be taken away… wait for it…

All you got was *crickets* along with the ‘deer in the headlight’ look they’ve now made so famous!

If this is the BEST they can come up with… they’re an even SORRIER bunch than I originally thought!  LOL

And it is indeed a very ‘sad day’ when the people that would benefit most from a speech on education instead chose to stay stuck on stupid! Can’t have no ‘uppity’ black man telling our students what to do now can ya? I wish you cowards would just come out & say it!

And a shout out to the jerk off on my way into the office this morning cutting people off left & right with his ‘catchy’ anti socialism bumper stickers plastered all over the back of his HONDA mini van – what ever happened to ‘buy American’?  If you’re going to be a d’bag at least be consistent!!!

Leon, Houston my friend!

Nice to see you drop in! I’ve been wondering where you’ve been and keeping you in my prayers & thoughts!  Keep up the faith & the fight!
School Superintendents:

Often we do not think of school superintendents as being political animals, but in fact they have to be.  School board members are elected officials and for some time the conservative right worked to get conservatives on the boards so they could influence curriculum, like teaching “creationism”.

Today our President is giving a speech to school-aged children so what are superintendents to do? In conservative Southern Indiana most superintendents are doing the right thing by allowing their students to hear the speech.  In a few cased they are taping it first (to screen it) and then if they find nothing offensive, they will air it.

First I want to give credit to those superintendents who have the courage to air the speech. If your superintendent did the right thing, tell him or her so.  It’s the right thing to do…and it gives students the opportunity to discuss what is taking place in America.

Which brings me to the second point: The paranoia and fear of having children listen to our President, one who values education, is shameful.  There was no resistance to listening to Reagan or Bush when they spoke to children.  So what is the real issue? I think it’s about right wingers who still have issues with race and do not want to accept that we have an AA as President.  Yep, I’m playing the race card…and it trumps all other excuses.
FR: President Obama is back at work. So is Congress. And it’s shaping up to be the busiest September we can remember for an off-year.

Busiest? Congress and Obama may be "busy", but they have yet to get anything done that helps the American people. Being busy doesn't mean one is productive, and with Obama and Company, so goes your proof.
My wife and I (both conservative) discussed the school speech last night.  I read through the speech and thought it was absolutely harmless...and actually it was pretty good.  Without the controversial lesson plans, I saw nothing wrong.  I appreciate the school giving us the option though.

This whole incident once again points to the general hypocrisy of politics.  When Pres. H. W. Bush gave a similar speech, Congressional Democrats called for hearings and called it paid political advertising.  This time, because the President is a different political party the roles are reversed.

Should be an interesting next few weeks.
Obama's speech tomorrow will be nothing but repacked bs that he's been babbling about all summer. Obama has given over a 100 speeches about HC in the last 6 months, what else is there for him so say? Obama will wimp out like he always has, "I kind of want this, but I'll accept that". He won't take a stand on anything controversal. He list a set of goals that no amount of legislation will be able to accomplish. And in the end, his signature legislation will fail, just like he has.
*** Joe says no: Yesterday, Joseph Kennedy II, RFK’s son, said he WOULD NOT run for Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat. “My father called politics an honorable profession . . . .

Well, then that would eliminate Joe. And his father too for that matter. Most companies have a drug test before you start working. Does Congress?
The President and the congress are back to work-but 14.9 million Americans are NOT.

Despite increasing the deficit by an obscene, unsustainable amount, Obama cannot point to any legitimate evidence of job creation from his so-called stimulous bill.

Labor Day weekend revealed American's disdain for unions, as both Gallup and Rasmussen polls showed very clearly.  In both polls, majorities believe that unions actually hurt the country.

Majorities in EVERY poll disapprove of health care reform-and Gallup's release today is chilling news for those who support it-82% of those against HCR will vote against their representative if he or she votes for this, vs. 62% who say they support the bill and will vote for their representative if he or she votes for this.  In Gallups poll, the majority of independents are against HCR-which puts them in line will every other poll.

Democracy Corps finally released their poll results, in which Obama gets a 51% approval rating.  They have not, as yet, released the details of the poll.  Must be pretty bad news for HCR, as they are behind this 100%.

2010 is going to be a very bad year for Democrats.
I just don't recall the rightwingnuts crabbing about talking to students when it was the bushleague pushing their semi literate christian education on the skulls of our children.
*** Van Jones resigns: Speaking of distractions, Glenn Beck got his man --

============

How naive you are at First Reid. Beck got no one. That's all Beck did was point to what Van Jones has done throughout his career. An avowed communist. A 9/11 Truther. As far left socialist liberal as Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright. A black seperatist. And to Obama, he was just fine to have in his administration because Obama believes many of the same things.
"Conservatives have harshly criticized him for having left-wing political views."

Left wing political views so that’s what we call an admitted communist.
And exactly how many "green jobs" did Van Jones create?
And now a "Manufacturing Czar" is being announced by the WH?
Enough with the Czars.
Improve your vetting process, Mr. President.

FINALLY!  I heard you Chuck on Nightly News last night say that… and let me tell you… it was music to my ears!

ENOUGH of the pussy footing around with these clowns… if they want a FIGHT… we’ll give em one!!

From one feisty to another…

Oh and Chuck… what’s up with the new hair color??  Stick with the red… much more attractive!  ;0)
See You In September - Here We Are -

_______
President Obama needs to stop taking the bipartisan route. The GOP have nothing to offer this country. He may have campaigned on the idea of taking the divisiveness out of the equation, but it hasn't helped. These people in the right wing are Jos. McCarthy, the Puritans and KKK all wrapped into one.

He needs to kiss them all goodbye. They're no good. Whether they be in Congress or in the media.
Thank you Glenn Beck for making a real difference!
We don't want no stinking healthcare reform. My moomy and daddy enjoy their near free taxpayer sponsored medicare and I like my near free VA taxpayer sponsored healthcare benefits and my wife likes her taxpayer provided healthcare through her state job.

i just don't know why the rest of you are whining about access and cost. My family has plenty of access and very little cost. Life is good.
*** Fired up, ready to go: Of course, some conservatives argue that it wasn't Obama’s education speech they were objecting to; it was the lesson plan focus they didn't like. But that got lost. They may have an ideological issue with the Education Department, but the criticism of the president himself came across as undignified.

==========

This is rich. Liberals accusing the conservative of being "undignified". That is too funny. And just like with the "Death Panels" legislation that got removed after conservatives pointed it out in the health care bills, Obamas indoctrination language, that he claimed was never there, got removed from his little speech to the little tikes.
It's not like coRporations don't spend a ton of money anyway.
This is a new work week.  Who knows what FALSE controversy the Right Wingnuts will come up with?

Last week's was on the President's speech to students.  And the Media is always ready to blow their trumpet where a minority party is given a far larger public platform.

As Obama stated last year, the GOP take pride in being ignorant.
Do some Republicans and conservatives -- accused Obama of “socialist” indoctrination” -- have egg on their face?

They've had egg on their faces constantly. But fortunately for them, political loyalty is fierce and those that hate President Obama don't really care about accuracy of information they get. He's a socialist! He wasn't born in this country! He pals around with terrorists!

But let's look at the lengths the far right is willing to go . . . Michelle Bachman talking about conservatives slitting their wrists . . . .People pulling their children from school so that they don't have to hear a "socialist" message about staying in school . . . . End of life planning going from a plan supported by republicans to "death panels."

There is no end to the extremes the far right is willing to go. The good news is, they just keep looking less and less main stream. Rationale people realize the right is off the deep end, and that only helps the policies of President Obama.
I wonder if Obama's kids will watch their fathers education broadcast today? Oh no, they won't! They won't because private schools won't be forcing their students to watch that tripe. The private schools will be focused on more important things to teach the children, like reading, writing, arithmatic, and science. This while Obama will tell public school kids to "Wash their hands!".
I love all the pundits declaring the Obama Presidency over and questioning his "leadership"... and to think that they figured it all out in 7 short months - amazing! :)

It is this type of over the top "analysis" that is a large part of the reason that modern American politics is more about spin than substance.

The ongoing back and forth with health care has had very little to do with healthcare.

Just as the school speech controversy, and the Officer Crowley/Professor Gates controversy, and the speech at Notre Dame controversy, and the Stimulus controversy.

Much ado about nothing as our country falls further and further behind.

And yet the media thinks the "winners" and "losers" are found in polls and ratings.

This focus on "virtual reality" to the exclusion of "reality" is large reason our country is in crisis today.

Despite all the spin, hyperbole, and hysteria, history will show that President Obama made many practical steps to rebuild a firm foundation for America's future, and ultimately, it is these real and tangible improvements that will last.

Not the nontroversy-of-the-week.
"Here's everything coming up before end of the month:"

Um...how 'bout Federal Budget?
If HCR fails it will be a clear victory for the Tea Baggers and Dittoheads
It will be a victory for Boner and Cantor and McConnel

It would be a shame to have HCR without the Public Option..... But, that's better than no HCR at all

WHY isn't Reconciliation being tried ?
Will it Work ?
Can we get 51 Senators to support HCR with the Public Option

Obama's downfall may well be that he wants 'Bi-Partisanship'

SCREW THAT !!
Get a Democratic Agenda
Get HCR with A Public Option

Obama REALLY SCREWED UP by not offering outlines of what he wanted in HCR at the beginning of the process

Because Obama didn't define HCR, the Dittoheads defined it

Still time to recover
But, I'd LOVE to see Obama Fire Rahm Emmanuel and hire Howard Dean after this is over
Ron Indiana: Today our President is giving a speech to school-aged children so what are superintendents to do? In conservative Southern Indiana most superintendents are doing the right thing by allowing their students to hear the speech.

Private schools are doing the right thing today also, and are ignoring this snoozer of a broadcast by the President.
The Tea Party in Cincinnati went well. The sheriff told a Cincinnati Enquirer reporter that the crowd was estimated at 18,000. The reporter took issue and ran 9,000 in the paper. You can't trust the press.
Probably an Obie wannabee.

Anyway, although the crowd was largely anti-Obama, when John Boehner spoke he was hissed and criticized for voted pro-bailout. He explained as did a few others present but the crowd would have none of it.
And this is Boehner's territory. He lives here.

The libs who are not in tuned with Tea Parties don't understand that big government is the target, both Dems and the GOP.

I was there and some of the signs read "No commies in the cabinet," "Cap the spending, trade the crooks," "Stimulate business, not government," "Help me Mr. Obama, they want me to work and stuff," and finally, "It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from his government." -Tom Paine

A good crowd, no visable guns but Obama's stop in Cincinnati 2 days later at an Ohio River Amusement Park, Coney Island, was another attempt to intimidate and deceive union members. More Obie propaganda.

And concerning the Tea Party, I might add that many African-Americans were also there with signs against Obama and against government takeovers.

Sounds more and more like Obama is getting Wee-Weed off.
The Baucas "compromise" health bill is reported to tax the so-called "Cadillac" health insurance polices. You know, the ones the unions get for their members. I bet Obama didn't bring that up in his speech yesterday to the AFL-CIO.
For our extended family, trust is the fulcrum on which Obama has fractured any possible advancement of his so-called programs.  Because of his weak, evasive, duplicitous behavior, because of his failure/refusal to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and because of his total reliance on his flashdancing, huckstering style, he has rightly earned the most untrustworthy reputation as a lying, side-show charlatan hell bent on tricking the American public into his wholesale socialist agenda...whether that deception is grand slam or piecemeal in execution.  Absolutely nothing he now says or does holds any substantive relevance.
Carter-esque? Ron Insana must be losing his mind! The President has been forceful enough on the healthcare debate and he should have become more "fired up" about it weeks ago when it appeared the message was being mangled by the fools who choose to mangle rather than learn.

"Bought-and-Paid-For-Baucus" has proven his loyalties are to the insurance companies and not to the party, the President or even his constituents. This won't go unnoticed.
HEADLINE "THE HILL" ----

"Already, 23 Dems have said they will vote ‘no’ on healthcare reform ... "

TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE
--- OBAMA HAS LOST THE TRUST OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
--- OBAMA'S LEFTIST AGENDA IS DRAGGING HIM DOWN!

OBAMA IS DESTINED TO BE A 'ONE TERM' PRESIDENT ...
AND IS ON THE WAY TO BEING A 'LAME DUCK' TOO!

Last September was very good for Candidate Obama, let's not forget that on 9/15/08 McNasty's campaign melted down as he kept insisting that the fundamentals of the economy were strong and then had to correct himself later that same day.  Let's hope that President Obama has an equally successful September as he defeats the dopes of nope.

I'm thinking that reconciliation isn't such a bad idea after all.  Even if the health care reform with the public option were only temporary we can see by how the Bushwhacker's tax cuts were temporary how people did not want to lose them.  Obama and the Democrats could not let them expire except for the richest and greediest 2%.  If tens of millions are in the public option then the repugnant ones would be crazy to take it away from them in 8 years.  Even if reconciliation is only temporary once people have something they are loathe to give it up and the party of sore losers would commit political suicide if they tried to take it away from people who are happy with it.

Too bad that Joe Kennedy Jr doesn't want to run but he may be correct that he can do better things in different ways.

Pass Health Care Reform with the Public Option!
Van Jones was a joke. He didn't even know what the hell a "green job" was.

Another real bad choice by Obie, who will probably replace him with another just like the other.

It seems that character is not of much importance in Obama's cabinet or his 33 or so "CZAR" choices. Ego is another of his main problems, along with evrything else.
Pat, Boston, MA: President Obama needs to stop taking the bipartisan route.

Um, just when did Obama take the bipartisan route? Please name the compromises Obama has made to be bipartisan with respect to HC legislation. It will be a short list, so short it won't even exist.
FR: In fact, we're told that the president's feisty tone in Cincy yesterday was a result of the staff pumping him up a bit, or getting him worked up.

More then likey it was due to illegal drugs.
As a blue collar guy on a beautiful Labor Day weekend, my thoughts were directed towards what is going on in our current political climate. Many of us experienced a double burst of euphoria on election night and during the Obama Inauguration. Surely, after all our hard work, we were going to enjoy eight years of productive change to counteract two decades of greed. How foolish of me to think it would be that easy.

Accusations of corruption of ACORN began during the campaign and continue as a basis that somehow we cheated. By trying to register as many eligible voters as possible, this organization was somehow viewed as hell bent on destroying the fabric of the American flag.

Republican policies as far back as the Nixon years show a perchance of manipulating the political process and the Rove tactics in the US Attorney fiasco as well as other issues show the Republicans are continuing this effort.

It's my feeling that true democracy can not be obtained until ALL eligible voters contribute to a decision on election day. What I see now is an attempt to frustrate all those fresh, first time voters that Barack Obama and his supporters brought into the fold.

By obstructing and stonewalling and delaying every program the new administration is proposing and was elected to implement, the Republican Party is saying to those new voters, "Your vote doesn't matter. It doesn't count. Go back to where you were, because we are going to demand a continuation of the status quo, no matter what you do." And what alternative do they have, since they continue to close ranks around their ever shrinking base?

The furor over the president addressing school children is an assault on the Office of the United States Presidency. How dare these traitors demean this office. The Republicans brought impeachment proceedings against President Bill Clinton after  placing him into a position where he lied rather than admit to a carnal sin (certainly having NOTHING to do with national security), while Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats two years ago diplomatically decided against similar proceedings concerning abuses of presidential power not known since Watergate. Which decision are you most comfortable with?

The absurd practice of "carrying" in plain sight at town meetings brings into focus just how intent this group is to take President Obama out of power - by any means necessary. The intimidation of the potential of assassination just adds fuel to the fire...
Are there boundaries now? As for Jones, clearly, that 9/11 stuff made him indefensible and does call into question the White House's vetting process. The irony in all of this: Beck never lost his job for calling Obama a racist, but Jones did…

*****************************

It's that old double standard—AGAIN!!!!!

White folks can call the president HITLER and it's cute. Bring out the guns...Let's go kill folks—All OK!!

When are sane poeple on the right going to SPEAKUP!!! or all you all scared???
Are the Democrats even going to fight on this health care bill? They look like a bunch of limp-noodles just playing out the string and finding someone to blame for their failures (Let us guess, Bush and the Republicans). The Democrats have no fight because they have neither the facts or the people on their side.
Do some Republicans and conservatives -- accused Obama of “socialist” indoctrination” -- have egg on their face?

Well Duh… NOW they’ve moved on to the new LIE of the day and that is:

Well… well… it wasn’t the speech we were worried about… but the LESSON PLAN we don’t agree with.. Or some other asinine excuse… as USUAL!

And no… it’s not just ‘egg’ on their face… these whack jobs are wearing a full blown omelet!
Health Care Reform may sound costly upfront, but what isn't these days? In the finale analaysis it will save us money. The public option will allow people to chose someting other than the private ins. parasites that have been sucking the nations wealth for themselves for a long time now.  Billions of dollars they drain from the economy every year gets channeled to lobbists who influence legislation to keep things as they are now, example insurance costs going up and up & nearly doubling in the last few years. Leaveing millions of people poorer with lower standard of living & no health ins.; while the parasites are getting fatter & fatter, and richer and richer. That is not Capitalism that is 'Highway Robbery'.  The private ins. companies & the Wall Street Crooks are the parasites that are destroying this country-and something has to be done.
2010 is going to be a very bad year for Democrats.
no joe, no bo,nj
and i know that will make your day!!! hating the president is to you like a drug addicted person getting a fix!!!
you fix is hating the president and hoping everybody else follows you!!!!
no joe, no bo,nj Just say NO and who are you crapping!!!
I'm glad Joe Kennedy is out.

Real tired of the Kennedy name and all the crap it stood for.
Feisty Redhead: Don’t know about everyone else… but I’m FIRED up & ready to go!

Then go.
Sure Bet:

Chinese health care program won't be in the speech on Wednesday next...think about it...

S.O.S.D.D. to come...more likely..
"It appears the president is becoming ‘Carteresque’ in the extreme. It took Carter years to engage in this much waffling and indecision, not to mention a propensity to micromanage the wrong stuff. More ignorant commentary. There is nothing to compare the situations today and the people today with those in the past. SO STOP GUESSING!!
Every President has his tests to pass. I have no doubt Obama will rise to the occassion. How many tests has he passed so far...too many to count IMO. Conservatives and sceptics have been eager to call Obama Jimmy Carter for a long time but that won't be the case. After 8 months Obama's critics still don't understand his political instincts. Obama is smart enough to conserve his energy for the home stretches of any goal. This is all about Obama and the Democrats now...you'd think Dems would sink health care? How silly is that thought.
It's really pathetic how some foolish parents would rather keep their kids out of school than let them hear the president speak and inspire them to stay in school and do well.  The party of sore losers promotes truancy as they want kids to skip school and be stupid.  Southern, white and stupid is no way to go through life!

While Glenn Henpecked may have gotten Van Jones, let's not forget how many advertisers Glenn Henpecked has lost thanks to an organization Van Jones started.  Now it's time to get this fox and freaks idiot off the air once and for all time by going after him and his worthless show of lies.  I can't wait for Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert to get back next week so they can start ripping Glenn Henpecked a new one.

We certainly can't trust the Robert's Court to do anything for the common person, they only do what their corporate masters tell them to.  I sure hope that Sotomayor can bring some much needed change to this court of repugnant ones.

Southern, White and Stupid is No Way to Go Through Life!
Typical Republican

selfish as hell!!!!
Van Jones is out.

Thank you Glenn Beck.
We all know how blatantly political and socialistic it is for a president to urge kids to stay in school. Shameful... Lol

Chuck;
I must say you guys in the media needs to stand up and do what  serious media around the world do - Report the facts and call out liers. You talk about Beck, remember, this guy and people like him are not even journalists but how come they so much influence than you guys that are professional? How come so many Americans are led to be believe so much lies and hatred coming from these people? Because you guys in the media will rather focus on profit instead truth. Instead of immediately pointing out lies you will want to promote a bit so that people from either side will run ads on your networks. I have never seen a president so derided the way the so called conservatives are doing to President Obama and you guys help them by not speaking out. Is there no association representing journalists in this country? If there is such body needs to close shop or speak out. David Gregory is a typical example (infact, I have decided never to watch MTP again). Back in March just two months into this administration, David was already declaring that the policies are not working hence the tanking of the Market (Watch the tape). Today, none of you who were quick to blame Obama for the Market woes bother to talk about the Market anymore because the Market is now doing well. He focuses on Job Market as if the people watching are stupids - Even a year Economics student know full well that the rate at which the economy was loosing Job when this administration took office, it will be dream for anyone to expect a turn around in a year talkless of 8 Months but David will like to think he is doing this country any favor by saying the stuff he says on TV - I know you guys may choose to not to post my entry but if David or any of you wants to debate me you can email me and I will be ready to give you my phone number. You are part of the rot in this nation, you contributed to it a lot, you drummed support for Bush to lead us into an unnecessary war and a recked economy. Now we have a president that is trying all he can to straighten things - instead of supporting him you will rather make profit. The future generation will not forgive you guys if you fail to speak out at this time.
