60 votes.

But I am a little disappointed in the quotes First Read provided of Rahm Emanuel's interview with Charlie Rose. He's saying - no public option.

I wonder, are we actually going to get real reform? What is reform if there is no public option?

It will mean a lot less then 60 votes after next years elections.
Oh what fun it will be listening to the righties HOWL about this...

Like moths to a flame... you know it's coming...
If that is what the Kennedy family wanted and it is okay with the people of Massachusettes who are we to argue? I wish Mr. Kirk well.
Just in case a photo of Massachusetts’ State House is on tv, what with today’s news, here's a little bit of history for you all:

"It's located across from the Common and on the edge of Beacon Hill on Beacon Street and is truly is an astounding site. Being “new” it was built between 1795 and 1797 on land that was owned by John Hancock, who lived just a little west of the front of the building. Hancock’s house no longer exists. Also, the dome on the top of the State House was made from copper from Paul Revere’s shop."
I don't think Kirk has the history to fill ole Teddy's shoes....has Kirk spent most of his waking hours in search for the bottom of a bottle, has he drowned anyone, has he ridden the coat tails of his daddys bootleg empire, has he voted on legislation to take money away from the working class to give to the welfare class?  Oh well, give him a few years in Washington and I'm sure he will....
It will mean a lot less then 60 votes after next years elections.

Republicans still have more seats up -- including open seats -- than Democrats.  If we just hold seats in the next election we'll have beaten the usual outcome (the President's party loses seats).

What is reform is there is no cap on malpractice awards, product liability awards or the other lawsuit gold mines of the Trial Lawyers Association?

The Trial Lawyers-second largest Democratic Party PAC contributor; nearly $200 MILLION donated to the DNC in 2008.
This is excellent news.

The interview with Rham Emanuel doesn't phase me. I find it hard to believe that Rham would reveal such a thing-- on purpose and so soon. I didn't get that out of what was posted as the interview. Sounds as though he's playing cat and mouse.
They are only at 60 of Byrd comes back.  And votes with them.

Oh, and Matt in K.C-so far, the Republicans pick up 4 Senate seats-Reid's, Dodd's, Biden's, Bennett's; Blunt has pulled into a tie with Carnahan, Ayotte leads in New Hampshire; Christ and Vitter retain Republican seats-so, you were saying?

In the House, not only will the Republicans regain the majority-taking the seats won by Dems in districts that went for McCain-but they are on track to get 60.

You continue to underestimate the anger in the country over what is being done to us by an overreaching liberal majority.

Joe Biden had it right-the republicans will take over the House and stop the Obama agenda in its tracks.  Thabk goodness.

Matt in K.C.

People make their votes based on performance. The Democrats have performed poorly. They have not done what the people they represent want them to do. For their poor efforts the Democrats will get their pink slips soon enough.
Good Choice
It's a temporary appointment
Let them battle it out democratically in the regular election for Senator

Let's get this done.....

..... AND USE RECONCILIATION FOR HCR

Enough Amendments in the Finance committee
Vote on all the Republican amendments AT ONE TIME
THE YWON'T SUPPORT THE BILL, ANYWAUY
WHY WASTE TIME ON THEM ??

Nancy Pelosi is about the only Competent Democrat in a leadership position

Blanche Lincoln, Ben Neslon and Evan Bayh SUCK

Come on njnbnj, I don't misrepresent New Jersey politics, you really shouldn't dabble in Missouri politics.  No way Blunt wins this election here.  No How.  You can dream.  You can hope.  But the Blunt family reputation is set in concrete.  And he keeps putting his damn foot in his mouth, to boot.  Dems will retain a super majority in the Senate, they potentially pick up two seats.

I think you are really dreaming up some big fantasy about the house.  NO WAY you guys take it back.  You will definitely pick up seats.  I am not going to deny it; but there is NO way you take it back.

The only anger I see in this country is at the weakness in the health care reform.  Over 70% want REAL reform, not some namby pamby Insurance Industry give away.  But do go on.  Your mental gymnastics are entertaining as hell.
Oh well, give him a few years in Washington and I'm sure he will....

He's not going to be there "a few years" - anyone named was supposed to agree to only fill the seat until January when a special election is held. At least that's what I heard on the radio yesterday & today.
On this one, I'll pass.  I think that was pure political hypocrisy.  You changed the law to prevent a Republican Governor, a bad one if I might add, from selecting a temporary Senator only to change it again to allow a Democratic Governor to do the same?  And then you have the guts to call Republikkkons hypocrites?  Ridiculous!  How in the world does the American people not make the Democrats pay for this?

It's nice to see that conservatives can manage to not spit on the dead in their discourse.  Stay classy, Patriot...

I'll definitely agree the Democrats have performed poorly. However, I feel the Republicans have not performed at all, other than to disagree with every single thing and I am hopeful they'll pay a huge price at the polls. Grassley even reversed one of his earlier stands on a HCR stance because the President reevaluated his position and changed it, therefore, apparently Grassley had to reverse his so he'd again be in opposition to the President.
Saw the Video live just now.  He looks like a nice person, and the Kennedy's think the world of him.
You guys continue to act as if Rahm Emmanuel is some kind of genious.

The reason all of those Democrats were elected into the house and senate is because of STRAIGHT TICKET VOTING. Most people dont even take the time to vote for individuals, they pick who they want at the top and then straight party vote.

Guess what...Everyone is on their own in 2010 without Obama at the top..without the youth turnout....with ALL Republicans voting this time.....We will see how this turns out because the media is trying soooo hard to discredit Republicans....

BTW: When your in opposition....OPPOSE!!!.....democrats did it quite well when Bush was POTUS....you dont need a plan...let them die on their own sword.
