Boehner tees off

From NBC's Luke Russert
House Minority Leader John Boehner went off on a whole array of issues today, here are some of the highlights:

OBAMA GOING TO COPENHAGEN: "While the President is in Copenhagen tomorrow, the American people are going to wake up and find out that hundreds and thousands more Americans have lost their job. The Administration's trillion dollar stimulus plan clearly isn't working."

DEMOCRATS AND MEDICARE: "Democrats take over of healthcare is going to cut Medicare benefits for millions of seniors and by drastic amounts so how they can stand there and claim they are saving Medicare…just doesn't pass a straight face test."

CHARLIE RANGEL: "It's improper for Chairman Rangel to remain in his position with all the influence that he has while these serious allegations remain hanging."

He advocated that Rangel step down: "He knows it would be the right thing to do, he has not done so and his fellow Democrats have voted time and time again to protect him every step of the way."

AFGHANISTAN: "If the White House could approve his trip to London to speak to a think tank yesterday, he clearly could come to the United States Congress and testify in the House and Senate and help members of Congress understand the challenges we are facing in Afghanistan."

ALAN GRAYSON: "I think it's time for Democrat leaders and the Speaker of the House herself to reign in some the rhetoric that she decried just several weeks ago. If he's not going to apologize to the American people and Republicans as he should, really it is the Democratic Leadership's responsibility to have that conversation with their own member."

GOP RELATIONSHIP WITH THE WHITE HOUSE: "We have not been to the White House since late April or early May. There have been no conversations about Afghanistan, no conversations about healthcare, no conversations about anything. It is pretty clear they have made a conscious decision to go it alone."

LAST TIME HE SPOKE TO RAHM: "Oh it's been months and months and months."

PUBLIC OPTION: "I'm still trying to find the first American who's in favor of the public option other than a member of Congress or the Administration."

"This is about as unpopular as a garlic milkshake."

I'm sure Boehner leaves his own head, he'll be sure to find someone who supports the public option.  What rhetoric.
Boehner is 100% correct.
Hey, want some wine with that cheese? Sounds like the rants of a lunatic!
Is there any good use for a person like Boehner?  I mean really, what does this creepy, orange-hued humanoid do that is positive and is of any value whatsoever??
I need to start digging up some history on this nit-wit, and see if I can make him go away.  I can, you konw?
Amen, well said
Off topic… but it’s not like things are running smoothly around here anyway… so what the heck!

Seems Agent Orange is at it again claiming that he ‘has not met ONE American who supports the Pubic Option’ (he said this with a straight if not somewhat orange glow to his face)!

It’s time American’s INTRODUCE ourselves so he won’t FORGET our names…

There is a link on Boehner's e-mail contact page that is for people who do not live in his district. Here it is: http://republicanleader.house.gov/Contact/

Time for the tan man to put down the 'bottle' and return from LALA land…
When was the last time he said something factual and nice about the president or Democrats in general?  What has he done to try to advance a health care and insurance reform package through?  Has he even come up with one really?

I actually agree with him on Rangel.  He should step down until everything is cleared up and there are no more ethics concerns.  Rangel has raised some real concerns over what is going on with who is writing the tax laws.  I would hope that all who are writing the laws are following them.  I hope that Boehner would do that to; keep after his Republicans.

I do believe (almost comically) that we are witnessing a sign of changing times because Republicans are being caught in sex scandals and Democrats are being caught in money corrurption scandals.
I guess he should not come to Iowa because a lot of people here think we need a public option.
"We have not been to the White House since late April or early May. There have been no conversations about Afghanistan, no conversations about healthcare, no conversations about anything. It is pretty clear they have made a conscious decision to go it alone."

Well, John, that's how you 'go it' when the  conversations only contain one word- "NO".
Where has Mr. Boehner been?  Can he read?  Can he hear?  I'm a registered republican (lower case on purpose).  I am a regular working girl whose mom can't afford her cancer medication.  I am 100% for a public option.  I have good health insurance - it costs a fortune. But, what it doesn't pay is about to break me.
Hey John,

I'm right here.

PUBLIC OPTION: "I'm still trying to find the first American who's in favor of the public option other than a member of Congress or the Administration."
----------------------------------------------------

It's kinda hard to do with your head stuck way way up that orange butt of yours...

I would bet my life savings you couldn't walk past the steps of capitol hill without running into a citizen that wants THE PUBLIC CHOICE OPTION.

This loser needs to be voted out asap.  We need to find lots and lots of dirt on this fool to bury him.
I know it's out there
This walking tube of Coppertone should actually leave his tanning booth once in awhile.  He might actually find out that everything he says is a lie! Just another fine example of Republican hypocrisy!
Hey boner, I'm an American and I'm in favor of the public option. Glad to be the first American to tell you!
LMAO...the boner presided over trhe fastest and largest expansion of government reach into our lives while he was running the congressional zoo.

Of course it was ok when the bushleague of incompetence was in the WH eh republicans?

I predicted that the neonuts would be sorry they craqpped all over the constitution...like as soon as the democrats were in power...you lost and elections do have consequences..
Doesn't he have an appointment with cancer at a tanning bed somewhere?
Thank you Representative Boehner.  You just gave the public option a ton of fuel.

Small town Americans like me are for the public option.  Millions of us will be happy to meet so that you can see the majority of Americans ARE IN FAVOR of the public option.

Boehner, you should also take note that the majority of doctors and nurses are in favor of the public option.
I am in favor of a public option.  Many others are too.  It all depends upon which poll you read and how the poll was worded...  So tell me why didn't you know that? Ignorance?
Where was Boehner when George Bush was driving this country into a ditch???? Where was he when George Bush went to the Olympics and sat & watched for 4 days? The GOP gives new meaning to the word hypocrite... As an Independent voter I'm thinking I might as well join the dems as there is NOT one republician that I trust or respect.
It appears Agent Orange is as 'cranky' as I am today!

LOL!
SHANK !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fore RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!
Democrats take over of healthcare is going to cut Medicare benefits for millions of seniors and by drastic amount.
*****************************************

House Minority Leader John Boehner wasn't opposed to their socialized medicine (their insurance) when republicans were in control of the House. BTW: Republicans can always give it back. That would change a lot.
**********************************************************
the Administration's trillion dollar stimulus plan clearly isn't working?
*************************************************
Where does  Boehner get his information from? Is it the Golf Course?
*****************************************

******************************************************
REP: ALAN GRAYSON made his apology to the right people,IMO.

Re:PUBLIC OPTION Bohener said...: "I'm still trying to find the first American who's in favor of the public option other than a member of Congress or the Administration."

******************************************

House Minority Leader John Boehner should check another poll besides Rasmussen.
***********************************************
come to the United States Congress and testify in the RE: House and Senate and and helping members of Congress understand the challenges we are facing in Afghanistan."
********************************************
What difference does it clearly  make? Republicans, if the  WH could come to the United States Congress and testify in the House and Senate and help members of Congress understand the challenges we are facing in Afghanistan; REpublicans never offer any solutions besides NO. Ohhhh, I forgot they want to go to war Lots of war profiteering there.
**********************************************
President Obama has already changed the dialogue for the positive instead of a BOMB BOMB BOMB Iran dialogue.
Don't forget there are 3 branches of the government BONEHEAD. The WH is executive not legislative.
O, Hello John Boehner. I'm an American who's not part of the Administration and not a member of Congress. And guess what? I support the public option. Also, in case you forgot (which I'm sure you haven't but are just playing politics) there have been many many polls out that have shown 60-70% of the public (Americans, John Boehner) approve of the public option if it's described IMPARTIALLY and NOT BY A REPUBLICAN. So, it looks like you're the one who's trying to force feed us a garlic milkshake
Whine.......whine..........Whine!

Anyone seen Joe the Plumber?
GOP RELATIONSHIP WITH THE WHITE HOUSE: "We have not been to the White House since late April or early May. There have been no conversations about Afghanistan, no conversations about healthcare, no conversations about anything. It is pretty clear they have made a conscious decision to go it alone."

GEE, I WONDER WHY????????????

Whine, bitch and moan!!!!! That is the Boner way.

PUBLIC OPTION: "I'm still trying to find the first American who's in favor of the public option other than a member of Congress or the Administration."

************************

MORE LIES. When is it ever going to stop!!
Now if only Boehner would tee off on the golf course - full time,...we could move some legislation, AND save hours of boredom listening to the droneof NO.

PS.  You and all you represent are in the wilderness.  and you are a liar to boot.  take a hike,...literally AND metaphorically.
Well who peed in his Cheerios - whaaa, whaaaa, whaaaa.
Democrats take over of healthcare is going to cut Medicare benefits for millions of seniors and by drastic amounts so how they can stand there and claim they are saving Medicare…just doesn't pass a straight face test."

*************************************************
And Boehner knows this how?

It is hard to tell ehich of the two GOP party leaders is more pompus and wrong...Boehner or Cantor. They both say the most asinine things and try to sound important and knoweldgeable. THe reality is thy just want camera time and to hell with saying somethin gof substance.
Busy day for Boehner. Looks like he has a better handle on what is going on in the House then Pelosi does. Pelosi is quick tothe draw when a Republican steps out of line, but is nowhere to be seen when that idiot Grayson goes bonkers. And the biggest criminal in the House, Charlie Rangle, continues on with his job as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, and he's the biggest tax cheat in the House!!

SNL couldn't come up with anything more funny then the Democrats.
ok this man is truly crazy.  Who is giving him a podium?  The more they are ignored because of good manners the more they go off the deep end.  Please take baack the microphone.
Well it's improper for a drunk to be a party leader but yet the Republican's have one in the house and Americans had one leading our country for 8 years.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, (R-S.C.) offered unusually blunt assessments of the fringe elements of his party and conservative media on Thursday, calling the popular and bombastic Fox News host Glenn Beck a "cynic" whose show was antithetical to American values.

"Only in America can you make that much money crying," Graham said of Beck. "Glenn Beck is not aligned with any party. He is aligned with cynicism and there has always been a market for cynics. But we became a great nation not because we are a nation of cynics. We became a great nation because we are a nation of believers."

Appearing before a crowd of Washington's elite power players and opinion-makers, Graham spoke largely without filter, offering acidic takes on subject well beyond Beck. The Senator called the birther community that questions the president's U.S. citizenship "crazy" and implored them to "knock this crap off" so the country could get on to more important matters.

"I'm here to tell you that those who think the president was not born in Hawaii are crazy," said Graham, who went on to dispel another myth: that Obama is a closet Muslim.

Speaking before The Atlantic's First Draft of History conference, Graham also ventured to call "crazy" a recent article on Newsmax, laying out how a military coup could overtake the Obama administration.

But he insisted that the demagoguery and wild emotions were prevalent to the fringes of both political parties. "There are people out there saying crazy things on our side of the aisle," he said, "there were people saying crazy things about President Bush. That's just the way it is. "

And he insisted that the opposition to Obama was (largely) not based in racial politics.

"How can you go from [the election]," he asked, "and then have a race problem a few moths later? There are people in this party who are having a tough time reconciling having a black president.... But most of these people carrying around crazy signs would applaud Alan Keyes. They are very passionate about their politics and if Alan Keyes spoke at their conference they go through the roof."

Reflecting comments made earlier in the day by his colleague and close friend, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Graham said he was deeply worried about "the passions of cable TV" whipping up the emotions of the public. "If you get rewarded for being a jerk you are going to keep doing it," he said, before labeling "Talk radio, MoveOn.org, and the 24-hour news cycle" as the main culprits in polarizing the nation.

"Can you imagine doing D-Day with cable television?" he asked. "Can you imagine writing the Constitution -- you know, O'Reilly says Ben Franklin's giving in on something. Can you imagine having to do that in this environment?"

(HEY Drunk Sun-tan man, he is talking about you)
DEMOCRATS AND MEDICARE: "Democrats take over of healthcare is going to cut Medicare benefits for millions of seniors and by drastic amounts so how they can stand there and claim they are saving Medicare…just doesn't pass a straight face test."
**************************************************
No GOP bill has drawn enough support to get momentum. The Republicans have not rallied behind a single bill the way they suggested back in June.
He swings, he hits and it's an extreme slice to the right . . . he promptly drops a ball in the middle of the fairway and calmly counts it as a single stroke.
How weak is the Republican brand right now?

This issue came up yesterday when a Media Matters criticized The Hill for failing to mention the GOP's poor polling numbers in a story on the 2010 elections. Similarly, I recently suggested that that the damaged Republican brand might limit the number of seats that the party picks up. But is the party really worse off than previous opposition parties at this point in the election cycle?

As a first cut at the question, I pulled all the relevant polling on approval of the party in Congresss and party favorability from the Roper iPoll database for the periods leading up to the four most recent midterms (1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006). In both cases, the results are consistent, but I'll focus on the favorability questions since Pew and CBS asked comparable questions about party favorables in each cycle.*

The overall finding is simple -- the GOP's standing relative to the Democrats on both measures is worse than any opposition party in the sample. For instance, the Pew data show that the Republicans are currently viewed more negatively than any minority party in the previous four midterms in terms of both net favorables and the difference in net favorables between parties:**

Pewfaves

The CBS results (not shown) are even more dramatic. In June, when the question was most recently asked, Republican net favorables were -30% and Democratic net favorables were 25%, which swamps the comparable results from the previous cycles.

In short, there's no question that the GOP party brand is in worse shape than any opposition party in recent memory. The question, however, is whether this difference in party valence will (a) persist through next November and (b) translate into fewer GOP House seats at the polls, especially once we account for the generic Congressional ballot, which should (in principle) take much of this difference into account (see Alan Abramowitz's model, for instance). Those questions remain to be addressed.

* Also, the approval question seems to be less closely related to electoral outcomes -- for instance, disapproval of Republicans in Congress was high in September 1994.

** I chose the survey closest to the current point in the electoral cycle, though the exact date varied. Net favorables are defined as the percentage of Americans who have a favorable view of the party minus the percentage who have an unfavorable view.

POLL JOB APPROVALS:

PRESIDENT OBAMA 54%

BOEHNER: 12%

STFU!!!!!

Well Mr.Boeher I would liked to met a politician who is against the public option who has not taken campaign contributions from the insurance companies to kill Health Reform!
Unless of course you're a blood-sucking Vampire...ewww Mr. Boehner, your breath smells funny.

If he spent half the time he does creating one-liners and converted it to legislating who knows...
I am with Nancy on this... Grayson Said what should have been said. And it's about time for those on the Democratic side to stop acting like it is undignified to aggressively call these people out for their lies and behavior.

I am with Nancy on this... Grayson Said what should have been said. And it's about time for those on the Democratic side to stop acting like it is undignified to aggressively call these people out for their lies and behavior.

Republicans are calling on freshman Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) to apologize for denigrating their party's health care plan on the House floor, but Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) thinks they ought to look in the mirror instead.

"Apparently Republicans hold Democrats to a higher standard than they hold members of their own party," Pelosi told reporters at her weekly press conference on Thursday. "There's no reason for Mr. Grayson to apologize. If anyone should apologize, everyone should apologize."

Grayson has taken fire from Republicans since he said on the House floor Tuesday night that the opposition party's proposed health care reform amounts to "don't get sick" or, failing that, "die quickly." The Florida Democrat did not back down Wednesday, calling Republicans "knuckle-dragging Neanderthals" and expressing sorrow only that delays to reform cost more American lives every day.

"I think we should be on the offense, not the defense, and that's where I plan to stay," Grayson told reporters.

Pelosi said she holds everyone in Congress to a high standard of discourse, but she argued that health reform is too important to be "distracted" by Republican efforts to force an apology from Grayson.

Republicans apparently can't handled it when Democrats flip the script on their asses... As Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.)showed yesterday when he spoke on the floor to give the Republicans the apology they deserved and on CNN when he didn't back down from their media co-whores on the Situation Room......Oh the outrage, even Pat Buchanan seemed impressed this morning by a Democrat given a Republican a taste of his own medicine. (But surprisingly Pat Buchanan seemed to be the only sane voice on Morning Joe this week when it come to Roland Polanski, The Olympic Bid and Rushing to send more of our troops off to war)

65% favor the public option according to the latest polls. I guess you walk with the 35%..And the last time I checked, 65% is more than 35%.In other words, the majority of the American public are in favor of a public option. Let's see you spin that one Boehner..
Does Boner prefer pumpkin milkshakes?  He's so ORANGE and SEEDY!
First, Congressman Boehner should come to the Gilroy, CA Garlic Festival and try a garlic milkshake.  He might like it.

Second, has he and his Republican friends drafted a healthcare bill, emailed it to the White House and released it for the public to read?

Third, I noticed that the House will not be in session tomorrow.  I hope the Congressman will be at his desk in DC tomorrow to work on all of those pressing issues.
Last night on the House floor, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) spoke to Congress about "school based health clinics" (SBHC), labeling the clinics discussed in current House health care legislation as "sex clinics."

The conservative congresswoman suggested that if health care reform passes, the nation's schools might begin offering abortions to students. Bachman's interpretation of the health care reform bill holds that the legislation is designed to bring Planned Parenthood into educational facilities. According to Bachmann,

The bill goes on to say what's going to go on -- comprehensive primary health services, physicals, treatment of minor acute medical conditions, referrals to follow-up for specialty care -- is that abortion? Does that mean that someone's 13 year-old daughter could walk into a sex clinic, have a pregnancy test done, be taken away to the local Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, have their abortion, be back and go home on the school bus that night? Mom and dad are never the wiser.

Section 2511 of the health care bill referred to by Bachmann, makes no mention of abortion and stipulates,

   (i) "SBHC services will be provides in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws governing-- (I) obtaining parental or guardian consent; and (II) patient privacy and student records, including section 264 of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and section 444 of the General Education Provision Act;

The concept of "school based health care clinics" was introduced under the notion that students achieve higher academic performance when they are healthy and receive adequate medical attention. According to the National Assembly on School-Based Health Care, if implemented SBHCs would give schools access to physicians "so students avoid health-related absense and get support to succeed in the classroom."

This guy really doesn't have a clue what the people want for the health reform.
Why the good folks of Ohio keep re-electing this 'garlic milkshake' is beyond me...  What a joke!  He and Cantor continue to try to one-up each other with stupid assesments of any given situation.

He's clearly out of touch with the working class.
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) has just more or less dared proponents of a public option to bombard his office with their expressions of support of the plan.

Boehner claimed, with a semi-straight face, that he has yet to meet a regular "American" who favors the option -- despite polls showing that a majority of voters support to the idea of having the choice of a government plan.

Public Option - Boehner I am an American and I favor Public Option.

Also how do you equate a one day trip to Copenhagen too creating jobs in this country?

President Obama - put in place the mechanisms to create jobs - it's now up to CEO's and business owners to hire people - not the President.

You should know that - stop playing the political games - life is too serious

Thank you and GOD BLESS AMERICA
