Contrary to the preferred route of some Republican strategists, it doesn’t look like former Vice President Dick Cheney is going to hit the “Jackson Hole/Palm Springs” golf circuit anytime soon. According to the Washington Post, Cheney’s daughter Mary “is leaving the political consulting firm Navigators Global to start her own consulting company, and multiple sources familiar with her plans say she will not be going it alone. ‘She told me she is going to be starting a firm with her dad and sister," said one friend of Mary's, with whom she has shared her plans.’”

In case you missed a story the New York Times reported yesterday afternoon, First Lady Michelle Obama's roots can be traced back to a slave girl from South Carolina.

Tonight, President Obama will play a game of hoops with 11 lawmakers and 4 cabinet secretaries (none of them women, we might add).

SNL-alum Tin Fey says she may just have to dust off her Sarah Palin impersonation just in time for the release of the former governor's autobiography next month.

Tina better be careful and watch out. CNN is "Fact-Checking" SNL skits these days since SNL made a parody of Obama the other night. I'm certain CNN will Fact-Check any jokes Tina makes about Palin.
The Cheney's to start their own political consulting company.SCARY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Their motto: do what I say not what I do or else which includes the following: illegal wiretaps, enrich my crony friends, fear mongering is the norm, back stabbing political enemies is our ultimate goals.

Good to see the Times is working on the stories that concern all Americans. Keep up the good work Times!
Rumor has it Sarah Palin is going to mimic Tina Fey. Sarah doesn't know if she's up to it though because she has to become totally not funny to achieve the impersonation.

Can Tina Fey impersonate David Letterman? She seems like she'd be able to pull off being a creepy old man.

As are many, many others. I don't find this amazing, after all it is a common story in the AA community. It's not something that many really care to be reminded of, it brings back painful memories and reminders of the cruelty of forced submission and the price and value of a human life.

I can't wait to see this one!
The story of Mrs Obama's roots on her maternal side, is both beautiful and inspiring. It underscores the strength of the human spirit and the ability to survive against the most awful odds.  Melvinia, the little girl of 6, sold into slavery, how scared and frightened she must have been, will, I hope, be honored and cherished by the Obama and Shield/Robinson families.  She truly is an inspiration and one sees from where Michelle gets her strength.

When we trace our roots and look over the lives of our anticedents we get to appreciate who we are and how much struggle and disappointments they endured that make us the people we are today.  I have learned so much about my families  their histories continue to fascinate me.

Are you joking?? Not funny?? I laughed out loud when Tina Fey told us she was gonna entertain us with "some fancy pageant walkin'", and then laughed all over again when my granddaughter later imitated Tina Fey mocking Palin's beauty pageants.
I recall not so very long ago when Native American heritage was much maligned. Thankfully that has now changed. I long for the day when those that have AA heritage and blood running thru their veins become as proud of that fact as those that claim to have NA heritage.
