Obama agenda: Karzai wants run-off

“Under heavy international pressure, President Hamid Karzai conceded Tuesday that he fell short of a first-round victory in the nation’s disputed presidential election, and agreed to hold a run-off election with his top challenger on Nov. 7,” the New York Times reports. “Flanked at a news conference in Kabul by Senator John Kerry, the head of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Kai Eide, the top United Nations official in Afghanistan, Mr. Karzai said he would accepting the findings of an international audit that stripped him of nearly a third of his votes in the first round, leaving him below the 50 percent threshold that would have allowed him to avoid a runoff and declare victory over his main rival, Abdullah Abdullah.”

The Washington Post: “Karzai's acceptance of another round of voting, after weeks of resistance, should enable the Obama administration to proceed with a high-level review of its faltering Afghanistan war strategy, a process that has been hamstrung by the delay in determining who its Afghan government partner will be. The White House has been under increasing congressional and public pressure to make a decision on whether to send tens of thousands of more U.S. troops to Afghanistan, as requested by the top American commander there.”

Before his fundraising day in New York City, President Obama meets with Iraqi leader Nouri al-Maliki at the White House.

"Vice President Joe Biden is traveling to Central Europe to reassure leaders who are nervous that the Obama administration's courting of Russia means a reduced commitment to their security. Biden's trip Tuesday comes in the aftermath of the administration's decision to rework a missile defense plan devised by the Bush administration and opposed by Russia. Leaders in Poland and the Czech Republic, where the system was to have been based, had hoped it would offer a permanent U.S. presence and deterrence against potential Russian bullying."

The Chicago Way (Sent Tuesday, October 20, 2009 9:21 AM)

---------------------------------------------

Maybe you should go ask Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfield, Rice and company...they're the ones who picked Karzai.

Great choice!

Silly me...there I go blaming Bush again!
Get ACORN over there to help with the election and registrations.

Mayor Daley will send some Crook County Democratic Organization ward bosses to teach them the patented Chicago ballot stuffing process. It has kept Republicans out of the Chicago mayors office for almost 80 years!
Gee, Liberal Senator John Kerry goes and TALKS to Karzai and we get the results that are best for Afghanistan and the US.

Biden is going to Europe. This Administration has taken more diplomatic foreign trips in the few months in office than the Bushies did in 8 years. Maybe that is why a Nobel Prize was awarded. True diplomacy outweighs cowboy, knee jerk, shoot first and ask questions if you get around to it foreign policy. Once again we have a Department of Defense and not just a Department of War so cherished by the Bushies.
AFGHANISTAN.

OBAMA PARTIES WHILE AMERCIANS CONTINUE TO DIE...

DIE WAITING FOR OBAMA TO MAKE A DECISON!
October 19, 2009 NEW HAVEN, Conn.- Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor says her nomination process was so tightly scripted that even her clothes were chosen for her. Sotomayor made the comments when she appeared at her 30th Yale Law School reunion on Saturday.

Come on lefties tell me how this is WAY different from Palin.

Come on MSNBC- set General Electric clothes washer to "HIGH SPIN"!

Sotomayor is as phony as Obamas HOPE poster using the stolen photograph!
I would suggest that this opportunity be used to increase the presence of more oversight from the international community.NATO and by extension the U.S. could then factor this into our decision to send more troops. If we can see an honest attempt being made to come up with a government that serves the people then we would probably feel that the additinal troops would be able to accomplish the mission and thus progress can be made. We are not going to make progress if we stick with the same old model of proping up whoever looks good today or has just learned to say the right things. Let the people decide and then we will know better how to help them without wasteing lives or money.
The Obama administration is looking for any excuse to get out of Afghanistan before Obama has to take ownership of the war and being forced to act like a president instead of a kid kicking the cans down the street. Remember, Obama is the guy that all through the election last year hammered Bush on not paying attention to the "good war" the "necessary war" as Dems tried to look bullish on defense. Now that the junior varsity has to play varsity teams the white house is folding like the house of cards and amatuers they are. Rahm the "hitman" Emmanuel is looking like a guy we wish never was able to get to the white house as he tries to bob and weave in interviews. No the real strategy for Obama's gang is to get out of Afghanistan anyway they can because despite all the tough talk he wants nothing to do with the heavy lifting of managing the defense of his country. Sad, sad that we have such a weenie in office and I fear hundreds of thousands of americans will pay with their lives because he was elected.
