Hagel (finally) to join administration

Posted: Wednesday, October 28, 2009 10:30 AM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Chuck Todd
Former GOP Sen. Chuck Hagel will be at the White House event this afternoon where he'll be named by the president as co-chair of the President's Intelligence Advisory Board.

Sources confirm this account in the trade pub, Foreign Policy.

According to THEIR report, Hagel will be charged with "overseeing the work of the intelligence agencies for the president and unvestigating violations of the law" by folks in this community.

Hagel never did endorse John McCain in the 2008 campaign and Hagel's wife was a donor to Obama. It was a poorly held secret that Hagel preferred Obama over McCain. It's been surprising that it's taken the White House this long to find a place for Hagel as he'd been one of those Republicans long rumored to join the administration in some capacity.

Hagel, just another Specter.
I always said Hagel was a RINO. I never liked this dude anyway. He didn't run again because he knew his azz was toast. This is how politicians do; they love that Washington atmosphere so much, they cant stay away. Now he will go back and get his name drug through the mud some more....

"Unvestigating violations"? Hagel is just the man for the job.
This is great news! Obama just created his first job! Nice going Barack!

Yeah they will be "unvestigating violations" all right!

Barack's administration can do no wrong. Only Bush did bad things. Unvestigate all you want Inspector Clouseau (aka Axlelrod in a trenchcoat).
People in Nebraska have a lot of common sense. That's why Hagel was sent back to Washington DC.

Well it's about TIME!  I can't tell you how disappointed I was when he wasn't included into a cabinet position!!!

And I'm convinced Rahm was behind that exclusion as well as Howard Dean! I'm growing to despise Rahm MORE with each passing day!

Chuck Hagel = one of the FEW Republican's who make sense! They TRULY are a DYING breed!

More so... I could have found myself actually voting for him had he been from IL instead of NE!

Congrats Chuck you'll be a FINE addition!
Chuck Hagel is a fine man and a Viet Name hero
I didn't want him as VP (too conservative)

But, anything other than that is GREAT
Hopefully our intelligence agencies will STOP HALUCINATING about WMDs in Iraq and Iran
Hopefully our intelligence agencies will stop using Fix Noise as their primary intelligence sources

Now, how about bringing in Howard Dean ?
You need replacements for Rahm Emmanuel and Tim Kaine anyway

Bring in Lawrence O'Donnell, too !!
I suppose the haters will be here to rant about Hagel being another "czar" and how Obama is circumventing the Constitution with this appointment, right?
Will one of Obama's Czars lose their job over this Hagel appointment?
Any Republican not marching lockstep is not really a Republican, we've all read the play book - but does anyone see the irony in someone posting on FR that Obama hasn't even talked to a Republican since last summer?

Sweet Niblets!

One more thing about Chuck Hagel... he's not 'hard on the eyes' either!  lol lol

Although my preference is still leans more to the 'bad boy' types!  ;0)  lol lol lol
Take a close look at Hagel's eyes; instead of round pupils, he has vertical slits akin to his brethren venemous snakes in D.C.
DON'T BE SO SURE that Republicans will make gains in the 2010 Elections

'...42% have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party. For the Republican Party, it's 25%...'

WHY would people VOTE for someone that has a 25% Favorable rating ??

If WE Pass a STRONG Health Care reform bill
The Democrats May SWEEP 2010 !!

Use Reconciliation to pass HCR with a Public Option and watch the Tea-Bag-a-Gp-Go go DOWN THE TOILET !!

Wathc the Tea-Hag-A-Go-Go GO WDOWN the TOILET
Bye Bye Sarah !!

'...* Obama's approval rating remains at 51% in the poll, exactly where's it's been for the last few months.

* 43% approve of the president's handling of health care. For Republicans, it's 23%.

* 42% have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party. For the Republican Party, it's 25%. (Update: The GOP's rating is even worse now than it was during Bush's two terms.)

* On the generic ballot test, respondents favored a Democratic candidate over a GOP candidate, 46% to 38%. A month ago, the margin was only three points in Dems' favor.

* 63% believe the economic problems the White House is dealing with were inherited from the Bush era. That's down from 72% in June, but it's still quite high.

* In a bit of a surprise, support for sending additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan has gone up, and Dick Cheney's whining notwithstanding, a clear majority support President Obama's delays until after the Afghan election.

* Support for gay marriage is up considerably from a few years ago, but it's still a 41% minority...'

Apparently, the Nevada voters complaint about Harry Reid is that he's not strong

Use RECONCILIATION TO GET HCR and BE STRONG

PS
41% in favor of Gay Marriage is a SEA CHANGE in America
I would NOT have imagined it in the 60's
Us Baby Boomers are changing the Game
(granted, Slowly

YES WE CAN
Would that be a saved or created job?

Dying from H1N1?
Dying in the Afghan War?
Dying in the Iraq War?
Dying from "Lack of Insurance"?
Dying from exposure after losing their home to foreclosure?
Dying from hunger due to unemployment?

Barack's incompetence is quickly becoming the leading cause of death in the USA.
I don't think it was the Administration. I think HAGEL is a class act and will only invest his talents in just the right fit.  Getting it right takes time-better to 'DITHER' than start rash wars.
And to answer the comment "In the Middle" from Texas, I love Chuck Hagel.  I want to tell the commenter from Texas I will vote Republican again if the Party ever has a Moderate running who I like.  Until then, you can take your crazy right wing, religious wacko party and keep it in Texas until it moves more to the middle.
This is great news. He is a good man. However, I think he would be more suited working on foreign policy.
If so many are so fed up with partisan politics and the inability of the parties to work together, and the run to call oneself "independant" or look for a third party, why do the blogs also generate so much invictive against Spector, Lieberman, and now, Hagel?
Negociating one's way through democracy is not clear cut. If we only accept clones that provide us with even more division we might as well opt for a dictatorship and a perpetually strong revoluntionary group as the opposition. These three are rare birds in the national divide that has become too bitter and too idiological. A third party won't help the nation because in the present atmosphere. It will simply generate another party to yell at or one that yells. I applaud Spector and Lieberman and Hagel as much as I would like Lieberman to vote with the party this time. Perhaps we have not learned much from our high civics classes of the past years. Perhaps we listen to too much talk radio and have forgotten that these opinionmakers are there to use us and make money off us. They don't give a hoot about truth, they want to make money and they do it best by polarizing people, creating false news and false divisions. I hope we can have more and more lawmakers who can demonstrate ever more clearly that it is possible to work together. It was a revelation to me when Edward Kennedy died how many Republicans lauded him as a great person and a great politician who worked hard to unite fellow legislators and found time to personally relate to them as well. All this from the party that most reviled him on the airways. It would have been better if we had known how often they really did work together. Legislators have presented a public image that has not helped the nation understand well just how opposing sides can work together.

It did not stop Roosevelt’s generals from executing unarmed Italian and German POW’s in the Biscari massacre in WWII or Kennedy and Johnson from torture and execution of NVA’s in Vietnam did it?
Oh wait, they were DEMOCRAT presidents.
It's about time.   President Obama, Biden, Hagel, Rahm, Gates, Axelrod, Gibbs, (Dean).  Sexy, tough, and nice guys.   Not bitter old men.    Welcome Mr. Hagel. Yess,  Dean is one of the boys.   Dean just left to make money on the outside.
Hegel actually had some principles which would focus how he would vote.  He showed courage in opposing his own party.  He may have preferred Obama, but I am sure that there were Republicans that he would have rather voted for in the election.  How many Democrats have Republican presidents put in their cabinet or in significant posts.
YEAH!

I was disappointed to see Chuck leave the arena. He is the only Republican politician I have ever contacted in support (I still get Christmas cards from his office). As a staunch Democrat I have tons of respect for this guy. Way to go Chuck!

Groundskeeper Willie’s enemy Seamus

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!!
INCOMPETENCE IS SPELLED GEORGE WALKER BUSH!!!!!!!
4000 DEAD IN IRAQ, THOUSANDS OF CIVILIONS DEAD IN IRAQ, KATRINA,
YOUR HATRED OF THE PRESIDENT IS MAKING YOUR BRAIN SOFT!!!
PUT DOWN THE CRACK PIPE, CRACK KILLS!!!!
I always liked Hagel. I'm glad he has joined the administration. He was the only talking head on the Sunday shows who made any sense speaking on Iraq. And, yes, he's a handsome man.
