'Man Up': Weighty issues in N.J.

Republican Chris Christie, appearing on Don Imus' show today weighed in on the flap over opponent Jon Corzine's campaign using what some see as a gratuitous attack on Christie's wasteline.

"If you're going to do it, at least man up and say I'm fat," Christie told Imus.

"Afterwards, he wusses out and says, 'Oh no, no, I didn't mean that, I don't know what you're talking about,'" Christie said of Corzine. "Man up -- if you say I'm fat let's go, let's talk about it."

Here are a couple of the ads in which Christie's campaign cuts through the fat and says the Corzine camp is raising the specter of the Republican's weight:

More stupid liberal stuff.

Many news outlets are claiming that the recession is over due to the growth of the last quarter. 3.5% growth is more than was expected by the White House, and it proves their policies are working.
So these are the issues that the Democrats want to talk about. How heavy one Republican candidate is, and what paper another Republican wrote in college 25 years ago.

Seeing neither Democrat has any accomplishments he can talk about, seeing neither Democrat can hitch his wagon to Obama's accomplishments (Barack seems to be stuck on zero in that regard), just can't see how they can lose with these lines of attack.
I don't see what the "big" deal is.  Just because Corzine is using "hefty" language doesn't mean that Christie should throw his "weight" around.  I mean come on, are people really paying attention to this innuendo?

Fat chance
It's really disgusting that political ads, comments and the like are so hateful!!

The two worst ads were Republican Saxby Chambliss’ attack on Max Cleland, a decorated war veteran, and triple amputee who lost three-quarters of his body serving his country; Chambliss compared him to bin Laden and Sadaam Hussein; next was the despicable and racist ad Republican Corker launched against Harold Ford, Jr.!!

Attack ads and the viciousness in which they are carried out disgust me!!

But these comments are so juvenile; and it looks as though they are coming from BOTH sides!! Memo to Chrisie and Corzine:  GROW UP!!

Didn't Obama just sign legislation protecting fat people from these slurs and types of attacks? No wait, that was gay people. If you're a fat white guy, you're not protected, unless your also gay, then you're protected.

Many news outlets also claim they are fair, balanced, and don't lean heavily to being liberal. They're lying about that too.
I think Corzine is just concerned that Christie won't be able to put his seatbelt on, and may get injured when rushing to get to a political event. The injuries Christie might get from that could cost the state of New Hersey a lot of money.
Bade judgement. Christie just looks small in going after this. If he says that was not what it meant then ignore it. Focus on jobs and the economy and the substance of the ad which is in fact quite important. Americans like big people not petty ones.
i'd like to ask chris christie why his ad is making it sound like governor corzine didn't pay taxes... when the truth is he didn't OWE taxes.
Too bad you never had the guts to call me out in your little blog. Maybe you should be called Obie.
Full Moon (Sent Thursday, October 29, 2009 3:43 PM)

Full Moon my friend, I think you went a bit far on this one!! I've been critical of Obama for waiting and waiting and waiting on things; however, he's not the Great Satan as you have portrayed him, really!!

You believe his is a Socialist; as I have stated here twice now, if you believe this:

"The Republicans represent the rich more, and the Democrats do more for the poor and middle classes, but somehow, Fox News (Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, etc.), Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, G. Gordon Liddy, and other neocon media pundits somehow brainwash some of the middle class into supporting the policies that help the rich at their expense.

They do this by playing on the hate (racism, sexism, classism) and fear (terrorists, gays, illegal aliens) inherent in most conservatives.

As far as not supporting public health care, I would think since most conservatives claim to be Christians as well, that they would believe in sharing with others enough at least to keep them alive and healthy, but I guess Republican Jesus (who kills for oil) doesn't share the same values as historical Jesus.

Also, most middle class Republicans could find themselves out of work or with a pre-existing condition, and thus not being covered by private insurance, as easily as a Democrat, but they don't think that the rich CEOs that they make rich with their labor owe them healthcare, instead wanting those guys to make bigger profits while they die by the very policies they support.

And many of them fight against it not even because they fear being taxed more (which they mostly won't, unless they make more than $300k or $500k a year, depending on how the reform compromises go), but rather because they have been brainwashed to be afraid of the words "socialism" and "communism". They think that anything that is not capitalism (which is for profit at the expense even of human life and dignity) is EVIL. What they don't consider is that we already have socialism: the government provides to the public a military, fire departments, paramedics, police departments, libraries, school districts, parks, and water districts. Most people are pretty happy with most if not all of these, but the nutjobs still argue that 'the government can't run nuthin' right!'

Fiscal conservatives should spending trillions on war to enable power monopolies by oil interests but oppose spending on human lives. This mentality is somewhere between ignorance and insanity!"
Christie looks like he belongs in the mob, wonder if the Godfather will be his chief of staff if he wins?  and nope, I won't apoligize for saying what is true, and neither should Corzine.  If it bothers Christie so much perhaps he should call 1-800-Jenny and get on the plan. and if I were a NJ resident I'd vote against Christie because he would rather talk about something so silly as to talk about what he could do to help his state.
Didn't Obama throw Deeds under the bus because of his looks yesterday in Norfolk?

Probably motivated by Obama to make the suggestion.
Healthcare is not a priveledge, it is a human right to be able to live.  By denying healthcare, you deny a persons right to survive.  Your lifespan is shortened when you do not have access to basic healthcare.  We are the fastest growing economy that ever was, but yet we cannot provide basic fundamentals that will not only drive down costs in the long run, but will make us more productive as a nation.

Greg, YOU ROCK!! You said it all!!
In other news…

Looks like our President’s Beer Summit was a resounding success…

Let the right wingers start foaming at the mouth in 3…2…1…

Remember when Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, Cambridge Police Sergeant James Crowley and President Barack Obama all sat down for the major news event of the summer? For those still wondering about the long-term efficacy of the "beer summit" strategy, well, the proof is in the pudding. On Wednesday night, Gates and Crowley held a beer summit of their own volition, sans Obama.

According to the owner of the "River Gods" pub in Cambridge, MA, the two were spotted sitting in a booth, talking for about an hour.
Gates and Crowley had been planning a get-together for some time. In August, Gates suggested they might take in a Red Sox game or have the families dine together. "I offered to get his kids into Harvard if he doesn't arrest me again," Gates said at the time, laughing

I guess all liberals are thin. Right?
The bill is available on the House Rules Committee Website.
The Speaker's office says it would cost $894 Billion over 10 years and be FULLY PAID FOR.

They do not want to read the Bill; they want to attack HCR period!!

It's why I'm glad they're being locked out; as I said earlier, I would have given the rethugs the middle finger a long time ago; they never had any intention of working with the democrats to pass ANY HCR!!

I'm glad the democrats finally woke up!!

I love your posts, Feisty; however, I think this needs to go away!! Gates did some wrong things and said some wrong things; Crowley got far to out of hand when he cuffed him and took him away!! President Obama spoke out before he knew the facts, and the entire debacle should be left alone IMHO!!

I only wish when my then seven-year-old twin daughters were abducted by their father, taken to a foreign country, I was treated as the criminal and no one would help, I could have received such treatment from the WH!! But I got nothing, zero, nada, zilch!!

I had to go to the Middle East and find my own way to bring my children home!! And I don't want to hear about people having a beer when it was BOTH that acted wrong!!

I'm sorry, Feisty; it's just how I feel about this!! Seven-year-old little girls were stripped of their civil rights and taken to a foreign country and no one would help; yet civil rights in this issue is given wall-to-wall media coverage and an invitation to the WH!!

Something is VERY wrong with this!!

Actually the hate crimes bill is laid out in such a way that if the prosecution could PROVE that a crime was committed BECAUSE someone was, let's say, fat and white, that crime would be punished with the hate crimes guidelines.

You know, for the party of personal responsibilities and bootstrapping (and all that) you people do play the victim quite a bit.
I forgot to add; as a Democrat, I find it increasingly difficult to defend actions that we have been screaming about ourselves for years. We've been yelling about hypocrisy for years, and then WE do something like this.

Above the fray my liberal freinds, above the fray. Let them gnash and wail and look silly.

We have grown up work to do!
It's why I'm glad they're being locked out; as I said earlier, I would have given the rethugs the middle finger a long time ago; they never had any intention of working with the democrats to pass ANY HCR!!
