GOP watch: Unveiling their health plan

Posted: Tuesday, November 03, 2009 9:11 AM by Mark Murray

“After months of criticizing Democrats' health-care proposals without offering one of their own, House Republicans are preparing to unveil a reform bill this week to compete with the majority's ideas,” the Washington Post reports. “Having lambasted the bill unveiled by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for being nearly 2,000 pages long with a price tag of $1 trillion, Republicans plan to offer a measure much narrower in scope and more modest in its goals. GOP leaders are unable to say yet how much their bill would cost or how many Americans would gain health insurance under their plan, but Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) said Monday that his party's bill was sent to the Congressional Budget Office for scoring. ‘We expect it to be ready in the next several days,’ Boehner said.”

Welcome to crazy land… "I believe that the greatest fear that we all should have ... to our freedom comes from this room, this very room, and what may happen later this week in terms of a tax increase bill masquerading as a health care bill," Representative Virginia Foxx said on the House floor. "I believe we have more to fear from the potential of that bill passing than we do from any terrorist right now in any country." (Just asking, but where’s the outrage from Republican leadership, which was outraged over Alan Grayson’s “Die Quickly” remarks?)

Here's hoping the Republican Health Care Reform bill has more details than the alternative budget they presented earlier this year.

It shouldn't be too hard.
i am guessing it will be on an index card with large font.  if we asked the american population if they could have healthcare for all at $1 trillion for the next 10 years or $2 trillion spent for Iraq and Afghanistan, the would pick health care.
The republican health plan has already be exposed,There is no plan, and they know it.They have dragged there feet through the whole debate, and now want to appear as the white horse that is going to save the day. After four months of lies, whine, crying about death panals,Pull the plug on granny, and scaring the wits out of the seniors. What they have shown is that they are full of wacko's Like Virgina Foxx, she and Michelle Bachmann are in the running for best in field when it comes to acting like they are a few  fries short of a happy meal.Fear mongers,Rush repeaters,Beck Brothers.Maybe these two could hook up with Palin, they could form a trio, the could call themselfs, Pallin and the lipsticks, wang dang doddle all night long.

I don't know, but maybe you need to try and be a little less of a mouthpiece of the Democratic party...
Her comment was clear that Americans have reason to fear; mandated purchase of insurance even if you don't need it, no guarantee of rate reductions-so they can charge what they want and you HAVE to pay, when it starts trashing one sixth of the economy-how do you put the genie back in the bottle? taxes, taxes, taxes (on hearing aids?)-when they finish taxing the so called rich and still need money they WILL come to the rest of us. so yes, Americans ALL of us might be more effected than some terrorist attack.  And that is way different from one Party member saying another Party in America has a plan that just calls for people to die quick.  So grow up and report the news...and start questioning things again about ALL Parties/politicians/programs...do your darn jobs as a free press and inform the public.

Report on how many new government programs will be started up because of this bill...

Report on the cost, 1.2 trillion and rising...

Report on the Taxes in them...not just the ones on the "rich"

Do your jobs as newsmen and women...
The GOP hlthcare bill will be about 10 pages, single space, will not tell you where the money will come from and like the Medicare part D not add it to the budget. Accounting trickery GOP style WINK WINK. Like not adding the cost of Iraq/Afghanistan wars to the budget the Shrubs adminstration passed off.
The Gop bill will be lesser and will have a robust public option, see they admitted like up in New York that it's our way or the highway seem's the Demorcrats need to do the same that way at least no more Liberman and can push all Bills with the majority than even having a rebeler.

'mandated purchase of insurance even if you don't need it?'
Tell me, who doesn't need insurance?
Could it be the 'rich'?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Throw water on her and see if she melts.
Hahahahahahaha! No seriously, Republicans what is your real healthcare plan?....You mean you're serious.. Good God my premiums will continue to sky rocket and I would have pittance to help pay for them. Whoopee. Preexisting conditions can or cannot be considered? Alan Grayson was right on with his remarks regarding their plan. Many still wouldn't be able to afford health care insurance and that is what the whole argument is about, AFFORDABLE quality health care.

Truly the Republican plan seems more and more like Grayson's description, either don't get sick or die quickly to avoid passing high costs onto your heirs.

During the last Administration there were more lobbyists in Washington for the pharmaseutical industry than members of Congress. What does that tell you?

sismo (Sent Tuesday, November 03, 2009 9:57 AM)"

I don't know Sismo, how about a 20-25 year old out there that is in perfect health and might remain that way for 25-30 years...he should be forced to buy something just because?  I thought we lived in the USA, we are free to have choices, when you mandate something nationally he has no choice! so less free...

btw;  Taxes from the rich...who makes the call on them?  maybe you make more than me...and you should be taxed some more.  I mean it's your money but since I make less than you, you shouldn't mind if I have the government take more...and then maybe a little more...because it's needed somewhere else?  Sounds fine right?  Amazing how we talk about what others have like it's ours by right.  I noticed you didn't mention anything else in my post?  How about taxes on medical equipment, like hearing aids...only the rich use those though right?

the GOP plan really helps those that are out of work or working part time or even full time but stuck with bad plans - sorry but you still have no choice and sorry but you have pre existing conditions and sorry but you can't have the same plan that I have as a member of congress- but we are going to give you a tax cuts and tax rebates to help pay for health care that you can't afford and does not provide any coverage...oh wait I'm not working and I'm already sick so what good are tax breaks and tax rebates for me....silly me I guess that only the top 1% are really entitled to good health care.  GOP is RIP...they have no solutions and mr. Boner has spent way too much time in the tanning booth as the radiation has diluted his already diminshed logic.
The Democrates are useless.  They could not get anything done even thought that they have the majority.  The president promised too much and delivered NIL. It happens only in america that the minority rules.  If the republicans get the healhcare bill of their own and do it right, there go the future of the democrat party.  Many in both houses ar worried too much about their re-election; Therefore, they are so afraid of doing anything.  If the president's men take the inititive and control all the events as they did in the 2008 election, they may success.  It is the only way to success.
