GOP picks Joe Wilson to escort Merkel

The House and Senate are together this morning in the House chamber for a joint session, as German Chancellor Angela Merkel addresses Congress.

Note that South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson (R) -- who yelled "You lie" at President Obama during the last joint session -- will be an escort for Merkel. Wilson was selected by the GOP leadership.

Said Wilson in a statement:

I'm honored to be chosen by Republican Leader Boehner and other Congressional leaders to escort German Chancellor Angela Merkel to the Joint Session of Congress. This honor is particularly special to me because I admire Chancellor Merkel's capable and strong leadership for the German people and the world community.

Chancellor Merkel grew up under the communism of East Germany and now she assumes the post of chancellor of the unified Germany. I'm confident she will continue to inspire and lead towards greater prosperity with conservative principles.

I also appreciate the investment Germany has made in South Carolina with BMW's economic contribution.

Hate to burst your bubble but most people don't listen/watch the loons you mention above. As much as this administration has tried to make them the face of the opposition the majority have no clue who they are and what they rant about. However, the majority are scared for their jobs. They know that the HRC currently being pushed through will cost them more and they'll get less. They know that a tax on energy will not create jobs. And they that its the party in power that is pushing this agenda.

When the time comes to vote you think they'll be interested in what the idiots in the media are saying or the fact that HRC passed and their premiums still went up and so did their co-payments. It will come down to the old question are you better than you were 2 or 4 years ago. Not what some fat druggie on the radio is ranting about.

However, I'm all for Bachman and Grayson hooking up on survivor island. Now that is a reality show I would watch. You could through Weiner in there as well.

So now instead of 1050.00 per month, it will now be 1360.00 per month for my family. Well guess what? EFF OFF!!! I'm dropping!!! My kids will be covered by a children's insurance plan provided by the state(no thanks to one of my ignorant Senators that voted against it over and over again) and my husband and I will become one of the millions without insurance.

I WILL NOT WILL NOT WILL NOT PAY ANOTHER CENT TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT IS TRYING TO SCREW ME OVER!!!

My daughter was 22 and in collage when she had an unplanned pregnancy. She doesn't believe in abortion for herself so she had her son and then gave him up for adoption. Now I have wonderful grandson that I can see anytime I want. Because she had no insurance she had to file for bankruptcy. She could have avoided that by having an abortion; it would have been a lot cheaper.

Wilson is a hypocrit as mentioned in other posts so he fits right in with the current GOP. Merkle could chew him up and spit him out if she wanted to. My guess is she will be cordial, polite and go home with Joe Wilson stories for a few good laughs. Kind of like when foreign dignitaries left Dubya and would go home and tell Dubya jokes to the gaffaws of many.
