With NBC projecting Bob McDonnell (R) the winner in Virginia, that means that, for the NINTH time in a row, the party that won the White House lost Virginia's gubernatorial contest the following year.

Since 1977, the party controlling the White House has lost Virginia's gubernatorial contest.

57% of those polled say that President Obama was not a factor in how they voted.

...but it's a clear rejection of President Obama's policies, right Eric Cantor?

It's not; VA has always been reTHUG; however, New Jersey is a democratic state; if the reTHUG wins there, it will be, and not just on Obama, on the Democratic Congress that has bended over and over again!!
I can't understand WHY the media is acting like these state races have anything to do with Obama.  State governer's races are about STATE issues.  Governers have absolutely no federal politics.  They might like to think they do but they really don't unless they are running for president. The voters know that state races are about state issues.  I think the media is foolish for intimating otherwise.

Of course. And ignore the ones that say they voted for the Republicans because of Obama. Those people are nuts. Just stay the course Democrats, you're right on target for the mid-terms. People really, really want higher taxes, huge deficits, and government run health care. You're playing towards your base Dems! Keep it up!
If Obama wants the popular support he enjoyed during the elections, he has to put a significant reform on his White House resume, and fast!!!!
We can't base our arguements on HOPE. His idea of bipartisanship did not sell, He should work with what his got now--Majority Democrats in both Houses.
Ah Pam, Pam, Pam, wipe the drool and spittle from that angry, ranting face of yours. You see Gop beat the Dumbocraps thrice. It was not just a win .It was a slaughter. Spin it how you must. There is nonetheless a strong message to Obie and his followers "You are Rejeted" Get used to it
Its not about Obama per se, its about people waking up to the idea of liberal policies.  Anyone who goes too far too fast isn't going to last long, dem or republican.  Repubs lost the house in 06 because people became frightened of the policies of bush, and understandably so.  People are already afraid and somewhat disgusted by what they see of Pelosi and Reid.  Its simply evolution of the electorate reacting to what I think of as the entitlement of the ruling party. They have overstepped their real permissions from the people. Repubs did it under Bush. Most people don't want to go hard left, as hard as it is for people in urban (blue)areas to believe.
Woo-hoo!!  Congrats Gov. McDonnell!  I think the positive here for Republicans (other than winning the race) is that this may indicate an anti-incumbent party sentiment among the electorate.  (I could be wrong...just my amateur opinion).  We'll see, but if that's the case it could mean a good 2010.

You must be OLD or stupid!! Virginia has always been a reTHUG state; Obama was the first president in 44 years to carry the state!!

Do keep up now!!
