House Dem: Health vote set for Sat.

Posted: Wednesday, November 04, 2009 4:05 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Luke Russert
According to Rep. Baron Hill (D-IN), House Democrats will vote on health-care reform Saturday at 6:00 pm ET.

It is possible that the vote could come before 6:00 pm. But, according to Hill, 6:00 pm is "when it is all going down."

Hill said he did not know whether or not Speaker Pelosi had enough votes to pass reform.

Hill also said that numerous members have told them "we're very close."

You may remember Hill as one of the influential Blue Dog Democrats who was one of the deal-brokers for health-care reform to get out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee back in July.

Jeff, I used to live in Evanston; I wonder if we know each other

Beverly in Chicago

I bet you did! Both of you rode the short bus, and there aren't too many of those.
<< Hill also said that numerous members have told them "we're very close." >>

Been saying that since July Baron. No one believes you anymore.
Baron's nickname "Red"?
First Read: Hill also said that numerous members have told them "we're very close."

The voices in your head, and for that matter in Nancy's head, don't count Mr. Hill.
Nancy's Bloated Pork Bill is now up to about $1.4 trillion. Takes a lot of a cash to buy all those votes. Just where does Nancy get all that money?
Blue Dogs vote for this, and they can look forward to being put down next November.
Might be time for Congress to go home, talk to their constituents, maybe have a town hall meeting or two. They can serve Obama Kool-Aid, maybe that will help their cause a bit.
Splitters never win. So yellow, Blue dogs take a lesson from yesterday's NY.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/11/4/800356/-Poll:-Whats-the-

The Blue Dogs, better known as republicans, better vote in favor of the Bill with a public option!! Democrats around the nation donated millions of dollars to their campaigns to ensure the House had a majority that would carry out the will of the people; the will of the people is HCR with a public option!!

...and the senate bill?

" On the Senate side, Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, refused Tuesday to predict when the chamber would pass a health care bill, possibly signaling difficulty in generating support from his entire Democratic caucus.

President Obama has said he wants to sign a health care bill this year. However, Reid declined to offer a timetable."

Which means??
Finally
A governor lost his job yesterday because he over-grew his states government, taxed his people to excess, caused unemployment to soar, and didn't focus on improving the economy of his state, plus he was very corrupt. Sound familiar Democratic Congressmen and Congresswomen? Maybe you can join Mr. Corzine on the unemployment line soon.
Then what?
another wasted thread, MSNBC. you're last in cable news for good reason.
Anybody read this crime against nature, also known as House bill 3962? If anyone can figure out how this all hangs together, please report to CNN, MSNBC, FOX, CBS, or where ever so you can explain it to the rest of us. I don't think anyone can makes heads ot tails out this train wreck of a bill.
So on Saturday we'll be having a kool-aide toast for the Blue Dog Democrats! Drink up, Blue Dogs, drink up!
Let call the House bill "Old Yeller" We all remember what happened to Old Yeller now don't we?

Is Cleveland in New Jersey?? LOL!! What the hell do you know?!?! Except what Fox News tells you!!

You Betcha!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, doesn't Hawaii have public healthcare system? Is it state sponsored through taxes? Can people still buy private insurance?

A dailyKos poll??!! Oh, geeze, how desperate the Left has become.

Democrats around the nation donated millions of dollars to their campaigns to ensure the House had a majority that would carry out the will of the people; the will of the people is HCR with a public option!!

Will of the people?  Sounds more like a bribe. And yet you lobbies accuse repubs of this for voting against. A little hypocritical don’t you think Sara Pedro? You betcha.
Then what?
Richard, Washington State

Then it dies a slow death waiting for the Senate to do something. Kind of like Cap&Trade.
Hopefully, the blue dog Democrats will continue to hear the voices of those who elected them, and not to the 20% far left liberals who support the likes of pelosi.
We don't want a govt. takeover of healthcare.
If the vote is scheduled, the votes to pass it are there.  No doubt it will be close but if I recall, often the last negotiations involve figuring out which representatives can safely vote against (to represent their constituents) the legislation without killing the bill.  Both parties do this.  One thing we've all been reminded of is that the legislative process for big, controversial issues is messy, slow and frustrating all at the same time.

Catching up on some of the other posts.  Please, right wingers, give up the czars attack.  All you do is remind everyone that ignorance runs amok on FOX  and by repeating it, you repeat stupidity.  Once again, repeat--Bush had more czars than Obama; czar is a media-created term for long, long job titles; czars have been around for decades through both republican and democratic presidencies.  Got it?

Feisty Redhead.  I caught the Lawrence O' take down of Michael Steele, too.  Lawrence's ability to trap these guys with their own words is "priceless" and tells me what a terrific lawyer he is, just like his Dad.  And he was part of what made my favorite TV show, "The West Wing" terrific.  What makes it more fun, is that it drives Joe Scarborough nuts, he's so jealous you can see it.

Lots of good comments from the left, too many to list.  Lots of silly ones from the right but a few reasonable ones and you know who you are, too.

The other night Countdown ran some of Limbaugh's interview on FOX--and there's the golden mike commenting that Pres Obama has a huge ego, LOL.  Limbaugh is so full of himself, my 81-yr old Mom says a pin would pop him to bits.

Have a good evening, all.
How is anyone supposed to read 2000 pages of "newspeak" by Saturday?  This is doubleplusungood.
Weird.  I just watched Agent Orange saying Health Care Reform should be nixed, because people are more concerned about JOBS right now.
Not, "Health Care Reform should be POSTPONED", or "Health Care Reform should be given a LESSER PRIORITY", but that it is a bad idea and should go away because the voters list jobs ahead of it in their lists of concerns.
Really?  So- because I am more concerned about the leak in the roof, I shouldn't fix the flat tire on the car??
Too many threats from Obie and friends against the American people.

That's what this is all about.

Now the people revolt. The Tea Parties are working and there is a Tea Party Tour crossing America right now.
The Blue Dogs, better known as republicans, better vote in favor of the Bill with a public option!! Democrats around the nation donated millions of dollars to their campaigns to ensure the House had a majority that would carry out the will of the people; the will of the people is HCR with a public option!!

PLEASE, speak for yourself, Pam.  The majority of the country does NOT want public option, most don't even want this piece of garbage health care reform bill crammed down our throats. I believe I heard those against yesterday was 63%.   You and Fiesty aren't the only ppl in the world nor the only ppl with their own preferences and opinions.
Might be time for Congress to go home, talk to their constituents, maybe have a town hall meeting or two. They can serve Obama Kool-Aid, maybe that will help their cause a bit.

Hey genius, I know Republicans like to forget "yesterday" and intelligence is looked down up in your party - but do you remember the last recess, in August, with all the bluster?

I bet you do, and I bet you were one of them - thing is, once they came back from recess there was WIDER SUPPORT for HCR - so maybe you should be careful what you wish for......? just a thought
Stop it all of you. Congress and everyone needs to  stop thinking so small. Rep. Grayson may be a tad
in your face but the numbers are real. The people are real.
People are sick and they are dying and every American deserves to be able to go to a doctor when they are ill,get care if they need it to live and not have to sign over everything they own first.
Whenever we live up to the words of our core documents, and then look back at the times just before, we always say, 'what took us so long??' Separate water fountains, women not being able to vote, blacks denied the vote, children going to work instead of school... no health care for 46 million... in America?? We looked and look absurd.
Paying attention voters? BARON HILL is one of those democrats falling under the term "blue dog" who can't seem to support any healthcare bill. I don't like that term "blue dog". Dogs...yes...blue or patriotic...um no.

A clear MAJORITY of Americans want health care reform. A clear MAJORITY of Americans want a public option to compete with the rip-off artist insurance companies.

Anybody ELSE paying attention to who's voting for and against healthcare reform? I AM. I hope the fools voting against it get thrown out on their ears...no matter what party they identify with.
