2010: And I won't back down…

Posted: Friday, November 06, 2009 9:08 AM by Domenico Montanaro

MASSACHUSETTS: “Attorney General Martha Coakley, who says she is firmly against capital punishment, has drawn the ire of some death penalty opponents by urging the US Supreme Court to limit federal review of state court decisions, which opponents say could make it harder for defendants on death row to challenge their sentences.”

“Governor Deval Patrick swept through Washington yesterday, wrapping up a two-day tour to advance the states interests in health care, economic development, and transportation - a trip that also let him showcase his access to the city’s most powerful Democrats, including President Obama.”

NEW YORK: “Seeking to dampen continuing speculation that he will drop his quest for election, Gov. David A. Paterson will run his first television ads on Friday,” the New York Times writes. “The two ads, each 30 seconds long, highlight his biography and address criticism Mr. Paterson has faced from labor unions and business interests over his proposed cuts to the state budget. Both directly confront what polls say is Mr. Paterson’s central political problem: widespread public skepticism that he has the ability to lead the state effectively.”

Michelle Obama to Host 'Iron Chef' at the White House

Michelle Obama's vegetable garden is about to become a culinary battlefield.
The Food Network announced Wednesday that an episode of "Iron Chef America" will be taped at the White House featuring Mario Batali, Bobby Flay and Emeril Lagasse.

The three chefs, joined by White House chef Cristeta Comerford, will be welcomed by the first lady and allowed to use anything found in the garden to help create their meals.

The judges will include chef Nigella Lawson, Olympic gold medalist Natalie Coughlin, and actress Jane Seymour. The episode airs Jan. 3."

GREAT! Then they can serve the food to the millions of unemployed who are trying to put food on their tables. Way to go Michelle!

“Official Unemployment Rate 9.8 Percent, Real Unemployment Rate 17 Percent

By Philip Ehrensaft, Metro Countryside Research

"Stingy" is the adjective that best describes the amounts paid out to the small percentage of the unemployed that does receive compensation. Within broad federal guidelines, each of the 50 states defines its own unemployment compensation scheme. New York State is especially stingy towards its unemployed.

Stark fact number one: the official unemployment rate quoted by politicians and the media —9.8 percent nationally as of September — is disturbing enough. The real extent of unemployment, however, is much worse. An alternative and more comprehensive counting of people out of work, which many economists call the "real rate of unemployment," stood at 17 percent.

States are allowed to fix their own unemployment insurance payouts within loose federal standards. New York's maximum payouts have been frozen since 2000, with no indexing for inflation. Our payouts are much less than those in nearby New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. And proportionately fewer unemployed New Yorkers actually receive unemployment insurance compensation than in these neighboring states. Pay more, get less. Welcome to New York.”
OBAMA IS TO WEAK TO INFLUENCE THE NEW YORK ELECTION.

Gov. Paterson has a great chance considering Obama opposed him instead of campaigning for him!
Using a Tom Petty title isn't gonna help this blog any.

Obama-ism is becoming a desease. No positive influence.
"Dust in the wind." "It'all over now, baby blue."
to "can i just finish my waffle:" i think that is the point, with obesity and its' consequences, from diabetes to heart disease, on the rise costing american families and our nation untold medical costs, she is trying to encourage us to eat fewer waffles and more fresh vegetables.

how is this any different from nancy and her, "just say no" campaign or laura's "visit a library?" are you so bitter about the results of the last, democratically held, constitutionally endorsed election you can find no good in anything?

full disclosure: i voted for barack and i love iron chef; but boy do i love a good chicken-fried steak :)
