MSNBC operates on such false premises that it is becoming a joke. I realize that there is only a small percentage of African American voters in W VA -- what percentage of them said that race was a factor in their vote? For that matter, what percentage of African-Americans in NC, MS, GA, SC said that race was a factor in their votes? I am guessing it is more than 2 out of 10. If you want to make race an issue, make sure you realize that it plays out even more looked at the other way.

I'm from WV and I'm appalled at yesterday's outcome. I'm ashamed to admit that several people I know, people I thought were intelligent, told me yesterday they still thought Mr. Obama was a Muslim terrorist - and they were serious. Good GAWD! Mr. Obama better make a greater effort to reach out to the poor and middle class (the so-called non-educated whites) and let them get to know him better. He won't win in November without their support. I also believe he would have done much better in WV had he (and his wife) actually spent some time here. While my vote (and my husband's) didn't do Mr. Obama much good, I am glad I was able to cast my vote for hope.

I suggest that blacks consider voting for the republicans this election since the the media and Hillary are promoting racism. Maybe blacks could negotiating a better deal with McCain. He would value their votes just as the democratic party value whites, hard working white people votes over everyone else. At least their votes would be with the winning party because at the end of the elections the republicans would have won because of the lack of leadership of the democratic party.

Wow, so if black people vote for Obama, we're not allowed to call that racism. Yet if the whites vote for Hilary, it's all about race. How fair is that?

Had it occured to you folks that maybe just maybe people that did not vote for Barack are truly not convinced that he is the right choice?

That he is not ready to lead this country for lack of experience to show forth, questionable judgements, performance in the Senate and associations among other things such as Foreigh affairs know how.

Sure many are inspired by his monologues and speeches. But I for one am not convinced that is enough to get us out of the mess we're in. Haven't we learned our lessons about putting a neophyte who run on a "uniter" campaign?

We're missing a great oppurtunity here of having Hilary lead the country. Her resolve, expertise and experience and needless to say input from Bill who managed the economy very well in the 90s.

I think its a mixture of racial and low information voting (the anecdotes on this were endless and also I'm aware that that doesn't speak for everyone in the State, just some overall trends).

I'm not concerned about it, at least not overly concerned, but I do think it can't be ignored. Obama will have to do more work in populaces with this demographic to get more information out to people (via many means) and to let more people get to "know" him.

I don't at all buy that he cannot win a lot of these types of votes (to generalize although I don't like to) for the General. I do think its a difficult task for him to do with the Clintons everywhere selling their pander ("I'm just like you, I'll fight for you" whatever the best message is for the State she's in at the time, no consistent tone to her campaign is not encouraging to me). Obama is running to be President of all the people (and that includes low informatio voters and people inclined towards racism).

The West Virginia turnout was much lighter than expected. Goes to show the dazed and confused "Desperate" Hillary voters didn't bother to show. Also 7% voted for Edwards, the other white meat, as they showed they're too prejudiced to even vote for a white woman.

This man goes after Hillary Clinton for her gas-tax holidy (designed, for the most part, to ease the pain felt by truckers (not $30 savings to Jane Doe) and to, as a result, reduce food prices), calling her policy "pandering." Well, he will rue the day this week that he chose re-don the flag pin (in, of all places, WV). If Hillary pandered, which I do not believe she did, then it was with the goal of helping the American people. He has pandered to help his own image. It's clear to me which is worse. The New York Times got it right....thank you! I have been shouting this for awhile now.....and now I read it in the Times. It was about race - not issues...how awfull - 8 in 10 voted for Hillary because of race. I also believe that happened in Pa as well as other states she suppose to have won. As a former NYer of 50+ years I can't believe that you are still pro Hillary considering that she has done nothing for NY except to use it as a political launching board and to hide behind Schumers coattails.

As a Wall Strret executive for 30+years with a masters in economics, Bill did not maanager the economy very well, his management led to the problems of the early 2000's. The true impact of economic economic change is often felt years later. Hillary's wonderful idea of gas tax holiday is another sign of her lack of understanding of a market economy.

As for race, I am a white 50+ college educated former Republican who switched to Independent to vote for Obama. Obama gets it, you don't have to be an "expert" in everything you need to have sound judgement, pick the correct staff one that adds value and challenges each other and the ability to sell resolutions across party lines. Hillary's problem is that she like Bush thinks she is never wrong and does not have the native skills or ingrained character to work across party lines.

I am not a bleeding heart liberal demonstrating black guilt by voting for Obama but rather someone who understands what leaders need to be sucessful in either business or government in today's world.
